Tomorrow Alaska will be 50 years old! I swear it does not look a day over 45.

Alaska's big statehood bash is Friday. Organizers expect a crowd of 2,000 in downtown Anchorage's new Dena'ina Civic and Convention Center. The formal gala will celebrate 50 years of statehood.

Outgoing Mayor Mark Begich, Gov. Sarah Palin and U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski all are scheduled to address the crowd. Alaska's Olympic athletes will be recognized.

(Hmm I wonder where Don Young will be tonight? Trying to keep a low profile perhaps?)

Tickets are required, and as of Tuesday evening the event was almost sold out.

I totally wanted to go to this until I found out the tickets were being sold for $250 a pop!

Hell the only way I would pay $250 a plate for dinner is if it were served by Paz Vega in the buff. And even then it better be lobster.

But what an opportunity to see ALL of our top politicians in the same room. (Except the aforementioned Don Young of course)

We have the future (Mark Begich), the past (Lisa Murkowski, who acted as placeholder for daddy Frank's Senate seat.), and the disappointing present (Guess who?)

This will not be the only place to celebrate our anniversary however. There will be events all over this great state of ours.

With the exception of Wasilla of course. Apparently it is too cold for their delicate little hillbilly bodies. Pansies!

Alaska is a great state but the one big problem is its Alaska National Guard Generals. They are corrupt, lying, vindictive SOB's and the State House doesn't seem to know or care. It isn't fair to the great Guardsmen who work for these low lifes. Will someone please investigate this Guard.
