Sarah Plain has recently made news here in Alaska by issuing a statement, on the State of Alaska's webpage, complaining about the treatment she and her family have suffered at the hands of "anonymous" bloggers and certain local talk show hosts.
Somebody sent me this video of Sarah Palin in Wasilla being asked what she would say if she could talk to these so-called "anonymous" bloggers.
It is a little hard to hear, but the first question was "If you could say something to the anonymous blogging community what would you want to tell them?"
Palin's answer is actually quite reasonable in that she would like them to identify themselves if they make up lies about her, or her family, but she has no issue with an anonymous person simply asking questions or making a point. Surprisingly as an anonymous blogger I am in complete agreement with Governor Sarah.
Though I have often questioned the truthfulness of some of Palin's statemens over these last several months, and made numerous posts about how I feel she has conducted herself, I have never fabricated anything and then tried to pass it off as fact. So if I take Sarah Palin at her word, I am NOT one of the anonymous bloggers that she takes issue with.
She also seems to feel that once one of these lies has been posted by a blogger that the news outlets simply report it as fact without doing any follow up investigations of their own. For the life of me I cannot think of a single instance of that happening.
My local newspaper has linked to my blog a few times but mostly to use my words as editorial comments and not as a source of information.
The last question Governor Sarah was asked in the interview was how she felt people's impressions of Wasilla were shaped by her candidacy. It is quite interesting to note that she thinks that the town and the people were shown in a mostly flattering light. I am not at all sure the people of Wasilla would agree with that.
I also have to wonder if Palin every sat down to watch this episode from the Daily Show.
Most of the blogs are not anonymous and she is really messing up by attacking everyone like she is. I am not sure what she thinks she is gaining.
ReplyDeleteEven if we don't use our names most people know who we are, or suspect anyway. She is something, I swear she is.
Ok...Ok the mayor of Wasilla...WTF!! "10:00am Staff meeting" then she skips to "Thursday is check signing day". What about in the middle???
ReplyDeleteI have a video response to Sarah Palin's attack on bloggers at my place. Thanks for your video. I don't feel it's spreading lies to question why she gave a speech and flew a commercial airliner for hours and hours after her water broke and she was in labor. She refused during her campaign for Vice to release her medical records also too, you betcha.
ReplyDeleteSeems to me the only time a story circulating through the blogosphere has any life is when there's something to it or something FEEDING it. And there's only so much annonymity bloggers can have. Besides, it seems to me the lower 48 got quite a proper education on Gov. Palin by the work of this blog, Celtic Diva, Mudflats, and Andrew Halcro. Other than Mudflats, there's not much that's annonymous about these.
ReplyDeleteJeez, Sarah! Paranoid much?
