My blogger buddy Linda, Celtic Diva, has filed a potentially very damaging ethics complaint against Governor Palin. In it she makes the clear and inarguable point that Sarah Plain is using her job as a representative of Alaska, and its people, for personal gain.
This is a CLEAR violation of AS39.52.120 of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act.
Here is the argument made by Linda in her own words.
a) Governor Palin was representing the State of Alaska at the Iron Dog Race,
b) Governor Palin knew that this race would glean not only a great deal of Alaskan media attention, but national and international as well. The Palins had to be aware that Sports Illustrated was coming to Alaska to do a story on Todd, as the reporter clearly followed him across Alaska throughout the race.
c) The Palins have received a significant amount of income/financial support from Arctic Cat, Inc…enough that it is necessary to claim it on disclosure forms year after year
d) The Governor wearing the Team Arctic Cat outerwear at this event was the equivalent of a kid getting paid to walk around with a sandwich board in New York. Sports Illustrated even made a comment:
Governor Palin is there, though, in her own monogrammed Arctic Cat jacket,
e) Any boost to the fortunes of Arctic Cat, Inc. can only be fortuitous to the Palin family as benefactors of their sponsorship. This is about as clear a conflict of interest as it gets.

You can read the entire ethics complaint here:
Why is this important?
I know that many of you were hoping for some giant scandal that would finally take the Governor down in one great fireball. But as somebody who spent many years in a boxing ring I can tell you that it is rarely the case that one punch drops your opponent. It is the numerous body blows and wearing down that eventually determines the winner.
This latest ethics complaint has the capacity to injure her reputation, and future in politics, in a very fundamental way. By illustrating that Governor Sarah is really JUST all about Governor Sarah, we help define her as somebody who does not care abut the people whose votes she hopes to attract both here in Alaska, and in the rest of the country. THAT is how we stop her from spreading her unethical selfish agenda, and keep her from injecting her poison into America as a whole.
One of my commenter's made the point that they found the post that featured Bristol's picture very unsatisfying. I would encourage you to keep paying attention, because the reverberations from that picture are still being felt and it has altered the thinking of a number of people who discounted the "babygate" theory out of hand.
I also believe the action taken by Linda today will have an effect that may not be felt immediately but that will definitely have a critical impact over time.
Remember as Alaskans we are in this for the long haul. After all, what choice do we have?
This story ought to be important, because we have seen, in the case of other politicians, that this is a way of funneling money to an official by some indirect means. For example, in Minnesota, Norm Colman is being investigated because a wealthy donor made the "donations" not to Norm, but as part of some kind of "business" with Mrs. Coleman. The donation was to be $100,000., and he had given Mrs. Coleman 3 payments of $25,000. before the investigation became public. In Illinois, the former governor's wife is reported to have received the same kind of "donations" through her real estate business, and they are being investigated. This is serious, and a way to channel money to a public official should be investigated-- whether Artic Cat did it gain influence or just good publicity, Sarah shouldn't be wearing the "advertising" even if it has her name sweetly embroidered on it. It's not just this latest (do you call it Artic Cate Gate?), it is the sum of all of the schemes to enrich oneself while in office-- travelgate, use power for a personal vendetta-- troopergate-- you know the long list. When she appears in her official role of Governor of the State of Alaska, she should avoid all appearance of wrongdoing-- and she obviously can't see what's wrong with a little advertising.
ReplyDeleteThat's it!!!
ReplyDeleteAs I wrote on an earlier thread, this woman has more criminal wardrobe activity than any politician in U.S. History.
ReplyDeleteShe is such a "pageant-walker" and "fashionista-wannabe." I think Tina Fey had it right: it is her penchant for "pageant-walking" that will take her down!
Follow the fashion!
This woman just doesn't think, does she?
ReplyDeleteOr maybe she does. Seems like she can get away with anything up there. Who's going to find her guilty?
She really is incredibly dense
ReplyDeleteShe's just wearing a poor Republican cloth coat, like Mrs. Nixon.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she got if from the people from Xenu.
Who knows?
Let me add a few lines to why I think this is important; I am not just kidding about "Follow the fashion."
ReplyDeleteMany of Palin's "gates" are related to what she wears: the missing RNC wardrobe issue was a serious problem in the nat'l campaign, and now this. Whatever you think of "Baby-gate," one of its features is that Palin never wore maternity clothes during her entire 2007-2008 pregnancy.
This is a woman who fawningly followed Ivana Trump around Anchorage, remember?
Palin has a true "fashion" complex. She can't help but want to be "hawt" if not "haute." It relates to her narcissism, to be sure, but I am saying it is part of a personality disorder.
This is an established pattern of behavior. Palin will do it again; she will bring attention to herself through vanity, ethical violation, and clothing.
Beauty is her "calling card"; beauty is her weakness.
If you are trying to bring her down, pls. do think about this and how it will affect her future behavior, esp. as she tries to become more than a footnote on the national scene.
Who will fund her national "Sarah! 2012" wardrobe now, eh, Alaskans? Will it be SarahPAC? Or....
In the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, a violation like this could be subject to a $3000 fine and/or two years imprisonment. Still time to det out of jail and run for POTUS!
ReplyDeleteRemember as Alaskans we are in this for the long haul. After all, what choice do we have?
ReplyDelete---------
None, it seems. Keep pounding those nails into her coffin, please.
word verify: undedin -- I kid you not.

ReplyDelete-----------------------------------
I can't find this picture/post. Can you lead me to it??
Anon@9:01, here you go: http://theimmoralminority.blogspot.com/2009/03/post.html
ReplyDeletePower in numbers!! The more ethics violations the better. Go DIVA!!!!
ReplyDeleteGood stuff! Bring her down with whatever it takes and don't leave any stone unturned. But it's also exciting that this gives us another opportunity to expose her babygate scam in a public forum where it could be manipulated to make it become evidence against her.
ReplyDeleteOh, and the declaration form she had to file, the people over at PalinDeceptions have got a bone in their noses about it. Track Palin is listed as a dependent with income so according to some people he must be one of the four dependents listed. We can't let this go until we have a positive and final answer on it.
Everybody, keep up the good and honest work. On all fronts!
Another GINO lie: I believe she was quoted by the ADN prior to the gubernatorial election in '06 that "her disdain for shopping was pretty extraordinary." Hmmmm.....
ReplyDeleteI bet that's somewhere in an October '06 issue of the ADN in their candidate interviews.
Actually I meant a 'bone in their teeth'.
ReplyDeleteHere's the link to the candidate interview from '06:
ReplyDeletehttp://tinyurl.com/cv5wqc
Not to play devil's advocate here but are we sure that she didn't purchase the monogrammed coats for herself and Piper? Just wondering if that had been addressed and I missed it.
ReplyDeleteA comment raised by Professor's interest in Sarah's Fashion Sense and what it tells us about her. I've noticed in many different pictures of Sarah that she almost always carries her blackberries in her hand, out there, visible as if to say, "Look how important I am' I'm in touch every minute." Men have the luxury of sticking the cell phone or blackberry in a pocket, so why can't fashionable Sarah find a more discrete way to carry her electronics? Even the Queen of England carries a pocketbook! I remember the pictures of Sarah in formal attire, climbing the stairs to the All Important Alfalfa Dinner in Washington DC, blackberries in hand. Didn't she have a nice little evening bag to put them in??
ReplyDeleteIf you want to get into the psychology of this, I can give a short example, namely a female relative of mine who always set her cell phone on the table in front of her-- at meetings, at dinner, in a restaurant. Of course when it rang (disrupting everyone) she announced, "It's important, I have to get this call." More important than the people she was with or the function she was attending? Like those senators and representatives "twittering" while Obama adressed the joint session of Congress. It's rude.
So my advice to Sarah is this: get a sleek, trim briefcase or better get, get a purse! Oh yeah, and don't charge the state for it, just because you're using it to carry a means of conducting state business-- oh, I hope I didn't give her any ideas.
@AKPetMom
ReplyDeleteWhether she paid for them or not, she shouldn't be promoting a company/business while in an official capacity as Governor.
The problem is, she doesn't know the difference.
Right, she's not just promoting a company with that jacket - that she may or may have not paid for - but she is GETTING COMPENSATED to wear the jacket/promote the company while acting as Governor. You can't do that. Quid pro quo.
ReplyDeleteDon G--I think the dependent listed as earning $ on that form is more likely to be Bristol, since there are reports that she was working as a barista at a coffee place, exactly the work that's being listed on the form. Also, I only see that there are 4 dependent children listed on that form. Where are you getting 5?
ReplyDeleteAnon@9:49,
ReplyDeleteRe: BlackBerry as fashion accessory for Palin. Good call!
Another sign that Palin is insecure with image. She wants so badly to be "hawt" or "haute," but she also has to "pose as business-like," because that's all it is to her: a pose. Carrying around a BlackBerry, to her, is a fashion prop that also signals "busy." She doesn't really do much "business."
Back in the real business world, we don't have to call attention to our BlackBerries or iPhones, as they are tools, not props or status symbols to us. (Perhaps she also doesn't truly understand IT?)
Remember when Palin debated Halcro, and she told him that substance and facts didn't matter? She thinks how you look is what matters. Same thing with the BlackBerry. She talks about having it, too. It is a fashion prop to her that indicates "busy."
You are correct that if one is truly "styling," one does not openly carry a BlackBerry around.
I can only hope that Romney's opposition research team recruits a stylist to go under cover in 2009 or 2010 and get the complete goods on SP. Because she is very vulnerable and insecure in the beauty dept...Beauty is her "gift" and her psychological "wound." I say this from observing news stories about her....
Anon at 9:49 -- Would it surprise anyone if she were being paid by the Blackberry folks for "product placement"?
ReplyDeleteI have wondered about those jackets and why very little was being said about them from the media. Even saw a few comments at ADN from posters, just happy someone is taking up the initiative. Time to go donate at Celtic Diva. Now a little off topic, I heard a rumor that the reason Todd only came in 6th this year is because those silk boxers really gave him a good chafing during the race. :)
ReplyDeleteLet's go for an even dozen!
ReplyDeleteLord I don't know whether to laugh or hit my head on the desk. This woman can't be this ignorant. Wait what am I saying it's Sarah Palin. Hit my head one to many times.
One more to add to the growing list. Sarah better mortgage that free house Todd built to pay off the mounting legal debts...Van Flein doesn't have to worry about sending his kids to college!
ReplyDeleteYou would think the illustrious John Coale would have advised her to take the jacket off, since he was lurking there with his lying ass wife, Greta.
More blood sport for Sarah, perhaps payback for all the wolf killing?
Sarah is the stupidest politician in office, she is right up there with Blago, and Uncle Ted.
John Coale was too busy staring at Sarah with his hands in his pockets.Wonder what his hands were doing? He was unable to think with his "big" head to dvise Sarah to take it off.
ReplyDeleteThis is ridiculous... what a waste of time.
ReplyDeletewow...amazing...and now Sarah 2012 stickers are showing up around the country- so please do keep highlighting her InState Effups as we ALL need to know....
ReplyDeleteOT: Gryphen sevrvants4palin has this up and I noticed they mentioned that they are linked to ADN's newsreader. Isn't that funny they got all the progressive blogs kicked out and now a link to THEIR blog? I think you and Regina and everyone else should email ADN about this.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous....I know you are from C4P. What a hypocrite...you all are. On that site, you must use your name. Now you take advantage of Gryphens kindness to let anyone post to just be...oh I dont know...plain silly.
ReplyDelete11 ethical violations is not ridiculous..and certainly not silly. Its terrible really, and actually quite sad. I almost could feel sorry for Palin, but she has done all of this by her lonesome.
She needs a come uppance, and its a coming.

ReplyDeleteIf I said 5 I meant 4. Track is listed as having income of $21,000 I believe.
You know what the scary part is...
ReplyDeleteI don't think SP even realizes what she did.
BRILLIANT, Celtic Diva and Gryphen! Believe me, if GINO makes one move towards running for pResident (like W.; Obama is our President) in '12, the so-called mainstream media (MSM) will be all over your findings like white on rice. They're not messing with it much now, because they'd call it "a regional story," and to pile on SP would be "mean-spirited," But trust me on this (I'm a retired journalist), now that we have the Internet, all of these cached postings are pure gold.
ReplyDeleteOne recent poll demonstrated that if Palin ran against Obama in '12, she'd be crushed by more than 2-1; it was conducted only in Iowa. Why? Think Iowa caucuses!
Super citizen journalism, folks, and keep up the good work! Love from Washington, D.C.

ReplyDeleteActually I meant a 'bone in their teeth'
- you cracked me up! I liked the bone in their nose image, I'll have to use that somewhere...I'm not even sure what a bone in the teeth is now that I think about it!
Don G.--I'd forgotten that listing of incomes toward the bottom. I think the barista pay for Bristol was listed in the first section because she was "living" at home and could have been contributing to the household. It seems odd that Track's Army salary would have to be listed too, although maybe he was a dependent for part of the year so it had to be listed.
ReplyDeleteBRAVA to Linda !
ReplyDeleteEvery time, every single time Palin violates the law, she needs to be called on it.
While I do not trust any appointed ( by Palin ) AG to be honest in investigating these issues, the sheer number and obvious facts of the complaints, nonetheless, have to be addressed by him.
The less sense HE makes, the greater SHE is revealed.
Somehow we need to get justice out of these complaints from the Palin appointed AG tho I think media attention and pressure may be the only way.
The full picture was on Celtic D page and the man in the background is John Coale, husband if Greta Van Susteren. This article is interesting read

Keep up the GREAT work all you pj bloggers...we love you in the lower 48!!!!!
This is number 11... how is it possible that there has been no disciplinary action taken against this woman? If you or I (or almost anyone else, or in pretty much any other line of work) had an ethics complaint, you bet your ass we'd have some disciplinary measures taken against us- we'd never get to 11! By the way, can we recap what those 11 are? I'm sure there are/will be more to add to the list.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I still want to find out
ReplyDelete1) who built Palin's house and with whose materials,
AND
2) WHO WAS BEHIND THE CHURCH FIRE IN WASILLA. Last I heard the ATF had joined the investigation. Anyone know if they are still involved? This could take a while to solve, but I don't want this investigation dropped.
Helen, A bone in her teeth refers to a sailing ship when it's got a good wind. Hence, the white bow wave.
ReplyDeletedifferent issue:
I was just at teamsarah as a spy and they are on about this thing. What they are claiming is that it's going to negate any suit if the suit is not kept private. Alaska law?
different issue:
The real worry for me over Palin getting somewhere is if she gets chosen as a running mate for a very popular Repub candidate. I know that nobody wants to even think about that but it's not something that should be ignored. It implies that she could be the one in a later presidential year. As for pres next time around, no way the country is stupid enough to ever do that!
I think the deal is that unless all parties agree to waive confidentiality that the case can't be talked about by anyone involved in the case. Not so sure that applies to the rest of the world though! I think that it only has to become confidential after it's submitted, so I'd guess that the revealing of the complaint prior to its submittal is okay.
ReplyDeleteI have nothing to add except that my word verification is "whorso"
ReplyDeleteTo Don G.:
ReplyDeleteYou are so right! Sarah wanted to run with Mitt Romney...not McCain!
You know, I might have voted for that ticket not knowing then what I know now about her.
I, too, am sure she won't run for POTUS but worry that the Repub's could be pressured (like McCain was) into putting her on with a popular candidate as VP.
Let's remember, Kennedy didn't want Johnson running with him either. Political parties do weird things.
That's why, Don G., we have to keep posting!
Ginger
Actually, Don G. and Anon @ 3:00 PM, I think the caveat is that the ethics complaint RESULTS are supposed to be confidential/secret unless all parties waive that confidentiality.
ReplyDeleteThat's why the Troopergate results became public, b/c Sarah Palin said OK (of course, she knew her Personnel Board would find a favorable conclusion, so why not?).
Anyway, why SHOULDN'T an ethics complaint be public? These politicians are supposed to be serving the people, and the people have the right to know if there's an ethics problem that's been unearthed.
Obviously if there's no wrongdoing you can be sure that the subject of the complaint will waive the confidentiality so his/her innocence is public knowledge too.
And if you can appoint your own judicial body to determine that, like Sarah Palin did....
"Beauty is her "calling card"; beauty is her weakness."
ReplyDeleteAnd she doesn't realize that beauty fades, but stupid goes on forever.
Is this for real??

I'm speechless that she would respond in such an unprofessional manner. So much for rising above...
Ivyfree, Palin's beauty is only skin deep but her stupidity goes right to the bone.
ReplyDeleteHey you guys! :) Can y'all go to Diva's (if you haven't been there yet) and show her she got people!
ReplyDeleteRegina,Kajo have already been there, but I'm battling a persistent troll. :(
Don, I especially like your last post :)
Thanks!

Gryphen, save that picture in your files -- it seems that Sarah's IT hacker...er, specialist has taken down the original from the Alaska State website -- so someone at Celtic Diva's blog says.
ReplyDeleteKaJo and Don G.--I think that the whole investigative process for ethics complaints has to be confidential too, which is why we don't actually know what, exactly, all of the other 10 complaints were (other than the Troopergate-on-myself and kids'-travelgate). KaJo, I think you're right about the results part too.
