It looks like at least 67% of Republicans have not lost their minds.

A majority of Americans think Sarah Palin is stepping down as Alaska's governor for political reasons, according to a new national poll, with a majority of Republicans now saying that they do not believe that Palin would be an effective president.

Only 33 percent of Republicans questioned in a CBS News survey released Monday night say that Palin would have the ability to serve effectively as president. Last fall, 71 percent of registered Republicans felt that way.

"It's unclear whether the change in Republicans' view of Palin is the result of her decision to step down as governor, or whether the GOP rank-and-file felt they had to defend their party's vice-presidential nominee during the campaign but don't feel the same tug of party loyalty today," said CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "Either way, this is bad news for Palin, whose first task in 2012, if she runs for the White House, will be to convince Republican primary voters to support her."

So if only 33% of Republicans support Palin that means that only about 6% of all Americans support Palin. That is not exactly a "base" that is more like the stem of a wineglass.

I assume that Palin can attempt to increase this small group supporters, by having op-eds ghost written for her, appearing at Republican fundraisers in her Naughty Monkey Pumps, and holding baby Trig up for adoration until he grows to big for her spindly arms to support, but personally I think that all she can really do is make the base she has more rabid. I don't think that too many rational thinking Republicans are going to be seduced by her crazy ass winking and the "talking in tongues" she appears to do in every one of her speeches.

No I think that Palin's supporters are as numerous as they are ever going to be.

I wonder how many are still visitng this blog? Let's find out.

Are you a Sarah Palin supporter? Not sure? Well here is how to do a self examination.

  • Do you make no long term plans because you believe that the Rapture is just around the corner?
  • Are you suspicious of women who use their brains and talent to get ahead but are totally cool with failed ex-beauty queens who take advantage of male fetishist clothing and kinky librarian hair and glasses to "progress" their political careers?
  • Do you hear voices in your head telling you to send your money to Queen Esther of the North?
  • Do you assume that any criticism of Sarah Palin is an attack on her family?

Well then you are offically a Palin-bot. Congratulations on soon becoming one of the most broken hearted people on the planet.

A letter to the editor in my hometown paper wondered if $arah would have made it this far with ordinary looks. They defended her, saying that she was more than just another pretty face. I beg to differ. There were far more qualified women in the Republican party who could have been nominated if the idea was to woe the disenchanted Hillary voters. $arah does have looks and style, and she sure could whip up a crowd. But, she has shown that she doesn't have the substance to last out one term as governor, a job for which many said she was not qualified. Judging only on performance, and forgetting about the winks, the pretty lipstick, the peek toe shoes, I am glad to see that more people are catching on to her. $arah could have stayed in office, performed well and left with a good record. Now, she doesn't even have that. At least she (oops, sorry, her ghost writer) can rewrite history.

  2. she appears to be "talking in tongues" in her speeches!! that's a good one!

Unfortunately, talking in tongues will probably be well-received by the Palin/Perry base in Texas when and if she campaigns for Perry in Texas....

You have your wish. Alaskans will no longer be ruled by Queen Sarah.

So please, rethink your strategy! Support her in all her endeavors, because she will ensure another term for Obama. Cheer her, encourage her, and all her moronic supporters in their racist fervor.

The BEST THING EVER to happen to progressives is Sarah Palin garnering the Republican base (base in its worst connotation) and marginalizing themselves out of a nation that is soon to be dominated by the young, and the ethnic immigrants, and if we are really lucky, the educated.

Is she that great looking? She is not the prettiest that the Republicans have to offer, but she is one of the mroe easilly manipulatable because she isn't the broghtest crayon in the box. She follows the money and while she has her moments of wandering, she ultimatly is predictable since. . . she follows the money.

She's not the smartest. Anyone could have been shosen. Why Sarah Palin?

Gail, I have to disagree with you :) Grifter is a religious fanatic as bad as jim jones or charles manson...! Everyday she is doing behind the scenes grifter deals she thinks no one knows about....
But it will come out. Her speeches, if you can call them that contain coded "dog whistles" to her "BOLD" and "Progressed" followers, lol, just a example mind you. She will be stopped and put in jail, she has too many skeletons/baggage in her closet and is continuing to grift everyday from her dumbass followers.
I think the conservatives/GOP'rs deserve to be represented by someone qualified. Whether they can come up with that is anyone's guess, but I'm telling you...it won't be grifter barbie!!!! lolololololol!

Here is an article that said Palin supported cap and trade during the debate with Biden last year.
    It even has the video!
I wonder which of the mean liberal MSM and bloggers will ask her to explain this?

I hate to tell you this but most of you that think that you will be raptured will actually be stuck down here with us heathens because you are complete and utter hypocrites.

Thanks to your hypocrisy we that don't practice organized religion will have our "glory days" sullied by the presence of 90% of the televangelists, 100% of the Fox News pundits, and perhaps Jesus himself, as he did not say half of the things that your ilk like to pretend He did (gay marriage anyone? I think Jesus didn't have a comment on that....)

Oh crap, I took the bait, don't post if you don't see fit, Gryphen. Still felt good just to get it out.

Gryphen very funny!! I love the speaking in tongues comment.

I have a friend who used to be a minister. He is gay but when he was a minister he was married. He told me he went to a church that had this speaking in tongues a few times and he swears it is all repressed sexual energy. He said women would rip off their tops and fall on the floor writhing and speaking in tongues! I thought this was funny and interesting but can't imagine it in Wasilla. There are some interesting iTubes of people speaking in tongues, a few at Sarahs church!

Thanks to those who made Twitter suggestions! I wonder what she'll pick! Make sure to check out her twitters tonight! They are so mature and classy! (not!)

Anon@8:24 I love how you "good christians" threaten anyone and everyone who don't believe as you... they will "burn in hell!"
You know what Jesus said, "he who is without sin, throw the first stone!" And a favorite of mine reguarding "the grifter" you call Sar-rah...is proverbs 10:10 "He who winks the eye causes trouble, and a babbling fool will be ruined".

She has "Boldly" been "choosen" to be a example and go to jail! Remember when Jesus got mad at the dishonest money changers and turned their tables over? So it shall be with Sar-ah! Go directly to jail do not pass go. Just like Monopoly, lol. You can Boldly speak of Rapture, but its all in your mind, the bible speaks of no such thing. You will fall as she will soon fall.
    Rapture and Rupture...OUT!!!

  17. Do not underestimate this woman. And do not underestimate the ruthlessness of republicans. Or her
She has already written(yea, right) and OpEd that sounds fairly normal. What about if she gives planned, written speeches and only does interviews on Fox news? The disconnect could be the fault of those pesky liberal bloggers.
GW Bush sounded "normal" until he was elected President and had to do interviews and ans questions. Don't you remember that people had to sign pledges to hear him speak, no democrats allowed?
Now that SP is out of Alaska, she just might listen to those people who want to groom her for the Presidency.
Find out who wrote the Op Ed for her and you will get an idea who SP is the puppet for.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Anonymous5:34 AM

dianedp: Her oped only sounds normal to people who know nothing at all about the subject.

Of course, most Americans and Senators, judging from the Sotomayor hearings, are STUPID and uninformed because our media only cares about dead pop stars and unfaithful men in politics.

It better be more than just that.

  21. Gryphen, check out the following vid of Ralph Hallow & Don Lambro of the Washington Times discussing Ralph's recent interview of SP in Alaska.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zia7XVu0LJM

I don't know these guys... were they being facetious?

I nearly fell off my chair when Ralph reported that he'd told SP that she looked a lot thinner than the last time he saw her, and SP replied,"Oh, that's because I'm not carrying the fat I had when I was carrying my baby."

Sorry, Gryphen, I feel the urge to offer correction or rebuke to Anonymous 8:24: I offer Jesus' words:

    Matthew 7:15-23
-Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
-Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
-Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
-A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
-Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
-Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
-Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
-Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
-And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you; depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
    ---

Oh, and the word "rapture" is not in the Bible; neither any "secret rapture." Instead...

    Matthew 24:23-28
-Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
-For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
-Behold, I have told you before.
-Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers, believe it not.
-For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
-For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

    Luke 21:27
-And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
    ---

Search the scriptures and you will see the false doctrines of man. I, too, was originally taught a false doctrine, until I began reading scriptures myself.

I would also suggest Ezekiel 28:11-19.

  23. Those of us here in D.C. know that bigheads don't write their own op-eds. (Hell, I've written some for former bosses--I know.) What is grimly amusing to me is that SP would have a difficult time READING the op-ed penned her her name. Feh.

Gryphen, from your words of about being most broken hearted, I getting a feeling that it is really bigger than I first thought. Seems this person has gotten away with so much with no more than a slap on the hand, I was beginning to think she would just leave office without any serious consequence to reap more havoc across this country.

Thank you and all Alaskan bloggers for such good work! And kudos to all comment bloggers as well!!

  25. Gryphen, this Californian is still loving your stuff, all these months after the election! You might have already posted something that would answer this question, but are there any recent polls of Alaskans re Sarah? I just told a conservative friend of mine that I was sure that most Alaskans were happy to be rid of her, but I can't find any figures to base that on. Thanks!

    Gryphen and Lizabeth @9:42,
I was amused by your use of the phrase "talking in tongues" and it brought to mind an article written by H.L. Mencken while he was covering the Scopes "Monkey Trial" during July of 1925. It is called the Hills of Zion and it is extremely funny. If you can find the time to read it you should.

It describes almost exactly the scenario that Lizabeth describes.

It seems that these people haven't changed much over the years.

I wish you'd stop referring to Sarah Palin as Queen Esther. The Queen Esther in the Bible was a strong woman who acted with justice for her people despite personal risk. The full story is available at http://www.usccb.org/nab/bible/esther/intro.htm.

Sarah just doesn't measure up to Esther.

  29. Grifter, WHAT IN GOD'S NAME ARE YOU SAYING?!!! Firstly, these people of today that claim to be conservatives are just jokers. They are a bunch of Neo - cons, and that goes for the lot of Democrats, too. Look at Obama, the Clintons, Bill Richardson, the head of Homeland Security, Joe Biden, Jon Corzine, just to name a few. Even though they preach a so - called "progressive" agenda, they really are Neo - cons in disguise. Then you have the Sarah Palin type neo - cons with all their pretentious rhetoric and their "pie in the sky" solutions to long - term problems. The late Barry Goldwater was the last true conservative. He was exactly that. Another person who championed a true, conservative mantra is Ron Paul. Though he was considered a bit "out of the main stream," Ron Paul practiced what he preached. He voted against the Patriot Act(that was a joke), and he does not believe the current health care plan that Obama is forcing through Congress is good, economically and logistically speaking, for the country. It would create more red tape for small businesses and the "single payer" system sounds too "Orwellian and 1984-ish" and it would increase the burden on our future citizens by six trillion dollars.
