Numbers genius Nate Silver gives us the skinny on the SarahPAC donations and what they mean for Palin's future.

Sarah Palin's political action committee -- SarahPAC -- raised $733,000 in the first half of the year and is set to push past $1 million in the wake of the recent attention she's gotten herself. On the one hand, this isn't that impressive. Mitt Romney, for instance, has raised twice as much. Kay Bailey Huthcison, Palin's sometime rival who is now running for governor in Texas, raised nine times as much. For somebody with a political celebrity dwarfed only by Barack Obama's, that's just not all that much cashflow.

What is impressive about Palin's fundraising haul, however, is who it came from: the grassroots. Based on her FEC disclosures, I identified 406 donations worth $200 or more, which are worth a combined total of $289,932. That's nothing, really: Home Shopping Club can bring in that much in 15 minutes selling vacuums. That leaves, however, $443,608, or 60 percent of SarahPac's total, which came from small donors. That is a very high percentage -- higher than for any of the '08 presidential candidates but for Ron Paul.

So what this tells us about Sarah Palin is that, while she is very good at convincing the stay-at-home mom or elderly shut-in to send her their money, she is unable to convince the more intelligent corporate big-wigs (who are the most dependable money men behind the GOP) to crack open up their wallets.

Nate goes on to make the point that in a general election those small donors can translate into voters, but the facts seem to point out that Palin will never get past the primary unless she can wink her way into the hearts of the big business guys and that just ain't happening.

So then the question remains, which Republican or Democratic candidate would risk being associated with a train wreck like Sarah Palin just to woo a handful of Christian home schooling mothers to send them their cookie money? I am guessing that only the most desperate, and least likely to win, would take that gamble.

In other words, Sarah Palin=Epic Fail!

One of $arah's chief fund raising tactics is to play the victim. "Oh, David Letterman is making fun of the girls that I shamelessly parade around," and "Oh, they have filed another baseless tasteless ethics violation charge against me." The only way to combat these assaults on beloved $arah is by $ending money!

$arah has another non-stop campaign, also, too. She is hell-bent on keeping her name in the media, even if it's something crazy like a Bear Twitter.

If it's the Governor of Alaska tweeting away, she should be writing things like this bill was passed, or we opened this clinic for sick children-- not shout-outs to Grateful Todd (I mean she's grateful about Todd coming home one week end) or a daughter returning from a basketball camp. Government business only, Twit!)

Yeah. It's over for Sarah Palin. The Big GOP Guys have moved on. She failed when she got to "The Bigs" last year. That was her test. Palin's Final Grade for the Campaign Course = F.

The Big GOP Guys figure that whomever they pick will be good enough for the small potatoes voters who Palin attracts. They'll get someone else, whose political umbrella is big enough to encompass the Christianist TeaBagger vote--but who they can trust. Huckabee could do it, for example.

"Bye, Bye, Miss Weird Winky-Eye. Drove your 'Christians' to the ballots but the vote count was dry. And the good ole white boys still drinkin' whiskey and rye, are sayin' "Secede, Winky! Whine More, and Lie. Secede, Winky! Whine More and Lie."

  3. I see Obama has opened the Tongass National Forest to logging. Every day I'm more and more sorry I voted for him.

  4. I just saw today that the "Anchorage Press" had written about "www.teamtruther.com" already on June 24!

  5. AK FAKE TRUST = EPIC FAIL....I had that comment deleted many times during the beg-a-thingy over at that "other" place where the sea parts for the royal hairball.

  6. I recognized a name among the list of $arahPAC donors and in a don't-you-know fashion, mentioned it casually to my husband. He described this person as an "uptight, button-down, super-white type. Why do you ask?" Titter-titter-guffaw: it's one of my husband's clients!

I made a snide comment somewhere above, but the more I think about this, the angrier I get.

Palin is responsible for folks dying who should have been cared for.
Palin begs for money from poor uneducated people--for her own coffers.

    She is a horror.

  8. Notice all the "Coales" in the donor list? Wonder who they might be related to...

Don't know if anyone has shared this yet:

The Plumline - from Huff Post-

Wow, it looks like Sarah Palin is one heck of a prolific fundraiser -- for the left, that is.

A fundraising email that MoveOn blasted out yesterday afternoon calling for cash to counter Palin's "lies" on climate change has brought in more than $100,000 in 24 hours, a MoveOn spokesperson confirms to me.

  10. I for one hope the adulation of the Palinbots gives $arah a false sense of security and convinces her to actually try to run a Republican primary campaign. It will be so very entertaining to see the real politicians dismantle and humiliate her. She was treated very lightly in the Presidential election. The bloggers were pointing out her lies but the Obama campaign left her alone and stayed focused on McCain and their own message.

Sarah has not been put on the hot seat in a national campaign, she's gotten away with softball questions from friendly reporters and had the luxury of professional campaign staff who stuck with her because of their loyalty to McCain. If/when SHE is "the candidate", the gloves will be off and she'll find out quickly that a Mama Bear with thin skin and poor instincts is not tough enough to make it in the real world of politics.

Just watched CNN interview with Michael Steele who basicaly said Sarah left for her family and she is not a quitter. Give me a break. SHE NEVER mentioned Trig when she left but Michael Steele does? If she was leaving to make sure that Trig is in therapy each day with her helping him. all would understand. But she never said anything close to that. Steele is an idiot-you should listen to him talk about health insurance! He sounds like he doesn't even think there is a problem with health insurance. He said many who aren't insured are illegal immigrants, young people who don't think they need it and people who don't even know they are eligible. Talking about being out of touch with Americans suffering.

This is still on Zaki's blog:" Rumor Central: Big story still heading towards the S.S. Palin
A deal-breaker is heading toward the Palins. Can it be stopped? I don't think so. Will it topple the house of cards, all signs say yes. Stay tuned..."

It's also quite amusing to see that the c4pers are all jumping for joy at the amount of money that she has raised, claiming that she has done a fantastic job of it considering she hasn't done any fundraising at all.

Of course they fail to mention that at least 1/3 of the money that PAC spent is listed as for "Fundraising", and those Donate to SarahPAC links appear on nearly every page that has her name on it, and they did have a HUGE push the last week before the end of June to bring the dollar total up.

Her fan's claim that every time she is "attacked" they donate, but then again they were also convinced she would have between 2 to 10 million dollars already when the numbers were released so I guess they over estimate how much people are willing to donate to her.

You know, I was going to comment on this last week, just to say for the record that not all Christian homeschooling moms are mesmerized by Sarah Palin. I am not but I do know that I am in a miniscule minority in that demographic.

Then I saw these two posts and I wondered if you were aware of them.

    http://mommylife.net/archives/2009/07/why_the_left_ha.html

    and a further post

    http://mommylife.net/archives/2009/07/in_response_to.html

I have been sitting back quietly, letting all of this unfold, knowing that the true colors of Sarah Palin would become evident to all and still, STILL, it won't matter ... because all of this has to do with the Left hating Sarah Palin because she had the audacity to have a child with down syndrome.

    Oh Please.
