In about an hour and a half a room full of people are about to become ex-Sarah Palin supporters.

Statement Re: Sarah Palin’s attendance at Aug. 27 events

Alaskans for Parental Rights is looking forward to having former Governor Sarah Palin join us this evening for the kick-off event for our initiative to protect the right of parents to be involved in the abortion decisions of their teenage daughters.

Media reports in the last 24 hours have quoted the Governor’s spokeswoman as saying that Mrs. Palin never committed to attend the event, and that she will not be present this evening.

We have been in regular communications with the Governor’s staff over the last several weeks. We were assured that Governor Palin was personally aware of this evening’s event, and that she twice confirmed her intent to participate.

We look forward to Governor Palin honoring her commitment to attend, and we appreciate her public support of our effort to pass this important voter initiative to protect the rights of parents and the health of teenage girls.

Wow, I almost feel sorry for these simpletons.

I know that they rely more on faith than verifiable evidence , but this is just sad.

Gryph, I don't think they're simpletons. I would do the same thing -- publicly shame the lame-*ss quitter into honoring her word and showing up. If she doesn't show now, she'll look a hundred times worse and lose some key supporters in her Alaskan base. (Although it's pretty clear that she's thrown these poor folks under the bus.) APR did the right thing in putting out this statement. Shame on Sarah Palin.

Any early word on the responses from the audience?

I agree with anon @6:11 : I think this is a way of shaming her into coming after all.
(Maybe she intended to come all along, but did not know how to get the publicity she 'deserves' in her own not-so-humble opinion, and by denying that she ever agreed, got the publicity she wanted...)

  4. Ooo! I know! I know! Somebody is impersonating Meg Stapleton and accepting speaking engagements for Sarah without her knowledge. Yeah, that's the ticket!

  5. Now the c4pee'ers think nothing of throwing Sarah's own children under the bus. Blaming Willow for this (!) saying she probably said "ok" on the phone, just so she could get rid of caller(s) and get back to talking to her friends! How low will they go? Blame Trig for being special needs and taking Sarah away from them? Not to give them any hints, but those c4pee'ers are NOT doing their idol any favors - trash talking fellow Republicans if they say one word disagreeing with anything Sarah says. Sarah has distanced herself from them, and they cannot even see it - believing she will "pop up" and surprise them all, rewarding them for their devotion.

My little ole opinion? I think Ivy Frye is the one confirming for $arah, but she and Meg are in an alpha dog battle and are belittling each other at every turn.

Wasn't the attorney supposed to be the one to confirm all appearances? As usual, the ex-gov's staff shovels the blame on others. Sounds like the boss, huh?!

since those tickets are worth 2k a piece, one wonders if she either is under-reporting or if willow wasn't there. she wasn't in any of the pictures. hmmm....

Anytime the news starts to change the topic like right now with Ted Kennedy's Death.. SP figures out a way to put the focus back on herself. Personally, I would rather ignore her. Eventually she will throw everone under the bus.

Must see movie called "Jesus Camp!" quite frightening about kids at a Pentascostal camp. They are speaking in tongues at 4-5 years old! Try to watch it. I am watching on free netfix screen. It will open up your eyes to the connection to politics today and their quest to take over our country.

  14. Symptoms of passive-aggressive personality disorder include:

    putting things off
"forgetting" to do things others ask
    being stubborn
disliking people who are in charge, or having a bad attitude about them
    complaining frequently
working poorly or slowly on purpose
    feeling unappreciated
    blaming problems on others
    being irritable
disliking the ideas of other people, even if they are useful
    arguing frequently

Everyone has some of the symptoms of PDs. But, she seems to meet the criteria of several.

  17. There is nothing that will make Sarah's drooling followers leave her.
They are a pretty thoughtless, and easily led bunch. They like her mindless meanderings and dream of her waving at them one day from a limo. Poor things.

    11pm Thursday night, ADN Online:

SarahPAC taken to task by feds for illegal contributions

Former Gov. Sarah Palin's political action committee gave excessive contributions to two well-known Republicans and also is facing demands from the federal government for more detailed financial information on a number of fronts.

Just in case anyone may have forgotten this little tidbit:
Sarah Palin is a COMPLETE FRAUD.

  21. did she show?

"jesus camp" is a documentary that actually focuses on a pentecostal camp that conciously considers itself an active part of "joel's army" -google that. joel's army is the dominant overtly militant version of the christian domininionist religious-political movement (throw that into google as well, prepare to freak out).

    they are very scary.

and they obviously start the vigorous indoctrination young!

Some reward! More inanity...Rambling, disjointed, manic resignation speeches. More alternate family values. Very, very flexible ethics. Forced, pandering references to the troops and special needs, to make it appear that she has empathy for anyone but herself. Every time she pops up and runs her mouth, you can hear the collective head slapping across the nation by anyone with an IQ over 85.

    What is Sarah good at?
    1. Whipping undereducated, right-wing evangelical nutjobs (and especially horny old men who haven't gotten any since the Eisenhower administration) into a white supremacist frenzy.

    2. She's an excellent example of what happens to people with big egos, mediocre education, and only a little bit of knowledge about a few things. They talk A LOT, love drama, and are very loud, but end up looking like professional idiots. I doubt that's what the GOP had in mind for its rebranding!

If they really wanted to have a Palin speak for their event, they should have asked Piper. She can probably give a better speech than the Quitter No Show Sometimes Gizzly Mama's word salads.

OK. Something fishy in her disclosures about gifts she received: The Consul of the Republic of China does NOT give glass bowls as an official state gift! That is more than likely a JADE bowl, worth quite a bit more than the $40 claimed. Ditto with the cristal vase given by the Czech Ambassador - I GUARANTEE YOU it is worth more than $70!
I wonder who checks into the veracity of her claims? If she claims the tiny value, does that mean she gets to keep it? I thought official gifts stay with the State?

Now, enquiring minds want to know: WAS SHE AT LAST NIGHT'S FUNDRAISER???

I had my children watch Jesus Camp. If you ever want to innoculate your children against this kind of hateful indoctrination, this is the movie to accomplish it.

"why are they crying?" is what my son asked.

because they are going to hell =-) or at least they think they are (says me)

As Anonymous @ 8:04 PM & FEDUP!!! have noted already...

I don't know who the Palins think they're kidding. There's no way in h3ll the value of 3 behind-home-plate tickets in the 2ND row are only $1,417 apiece.

Only 6 weeks before the Palins (all TWO of them, in my opinion) attended that game at Yankee Stadium, the NY Times had an article about the cost of tickets at the new ballpark, which had just opened.

Here's a quote about the pertinent seats, behind home plate:

"...the front rows of Sections 17B to 22, which bends from dugout to dugout behind home plate and includes the 100 most expensive seats in the ballpark. They range in price from $2,500 to $2,625, and the Yankees have had to spend money advertising their availability."

Most certainly Rudy Giuliani's 2nd row seats are only a little less expensive than $2,500 to $2,625 -- say, $2,125, which is half of what the Palins declared.

Really, as one of the other bloggers says, WE'RE NOT STUPID!
