Labor Secretary Robert Reich explains the Public Option. God I love these informative videos!

Okay now this thing needs to be shown to every single one of those ignorant yahoos that still believe the government is trying to take over their health care.

I just had a conversation recently with a pretty intelligent pseudo-conservative who had the hardest time accepting that Obama was not trying to screw everybody out of the health care that they are currently using. When I finally got through to them they said. "Oh then why is everybody so upset?'

Good goddamn question!

My insurance just went up by one-third. What good is knowing that under the proposed reform my insurance company would not be able to drop me when/if I get sick, if I can't afford the premiums in the first place? The next person who spouts off to me about socialized medicine, etc., better have good health insurance because s/he for sure is going to be in need of a doctor.

The same way these "yahoos" have devolved to the point whereby reading something means nothing to them, seeing as how their comprehension levels are near the level of a boll weevil, so equivilently are their observational skills.

This PSA will mean nothing to them.

Have you all not seen the movie "Idiocracy"? Well, in case you haven't, there's a running gag to do with the most popular film of the day called "ASS". Now this movie is nothing more than a male backside from lower back to mid thigh, focusing on the ass, while said ass did nothing but occassionally twich and fart, repeatedly;nothing more.
That is about the level that these "yahoos", of which you speak, are capable. We are about two decades behind in educational proficiency.

You sound a bit like a troll methinks.

Whatever you do, Please do us all a favor and OPT OUT of Medicare and a supplement.

What we have NOW is NOT socialized medicine, but medicare and medicaid IS. Which is fine with me.

Rather than toss out Republican talking points, why don't you make an effort to see what the bill says? Many many people want competition, the insurance companies should not refuse to cover pre-existing conditions and should not be able to drop an insured when they get ill.

We all agree - well at least the sane people agree.

I never thought I would live in a country when racist and stupid describe the public debate. Face it anon - the President is BLACK and you're PISSED.

WE aren't against a public option (which would bring prices down). Your Repuke friends are.

This is NOT a health care reform issue. It is an insurance reform issue. Something has to regulate these CEO idiots that are running our system into the ground.

  9. From AARP Poll:

An overnight poll by AARP shows that Obama's speech on health care helped resolve the concerns of many people over 45 dumb enough to believe braying Republicans that the Administration planned on executing the elderly.

    Re: anne s @5:00 p.m.
Today I went to the hairdresser. I will confess that I go to an expensive hairdresser in a major US city in a tony part of town.

Anyway, this hairdresser is liberal, but many clients there are not. The hairdresser informed me that it has been overwhelming to hear how many REPUBLICANS out of the blue have commented how turned off they are by the current GOP, and how much they support Pres. Obama. Many of them have voted the Republican ticket throughout their lives but now, they look at the GOP and refuse to be a part of it any more.

The GOP is NOT going to take more seats in 2010. Won't happen. They have gone off the deep end. Until the adults step up again in their party, the dumb crazies are ruining it. Thinking Republicans cannot support this inanity. Someone needs to get it under control; the pirates took the ship.

Gryphen - I wish you would link to this article from Salon.com. It is one of the best things I have read lately on healthcare reform.

  12. Thanks for this G. I posted it on my Facebook page - I've read a number of Reich's books and admired both the job he did as Labor Secretary in Clinton's first term and his decision to not stay on for the second.

"We're #37" by Paul Hipp is also an excellent look at the health care "debate": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVgOl3cETb4

I saw that "We're No. 37" video and just e-mailed it to everyone I know. Very funny -- especially what we're No. 2 in! Ha photo of Joe Wilson!

Puts it into an interesting light since GOPs feel we have the best health care in the world, don't mess with it -- ha.

Love "The Parallex View" editorial cuts, Bobby, and the beautiful sense of irony: quick cut to McCain, Beck, Rush, Oreilly, etc.

    "They want to scare you."

Thank God we have a choice! We can make our voices heard but Bobby,
is this really OUR last chance? You point right at us, shook your finger, like my elementary school principle, Mr. Harley, would and, in order to find out, who was passing around lewd sketches of our hot teacher, Miss Hymes, said, "This is your last chance."

We knew what that meant. He was trying to put the fear of God in us because because back in the 50's and 60's educators had about the same authority as Sgt. Hartman did in "Full Metal Jacket to beat the shit out of us.

The finger wagging, Harley's beet red face inches from our own, and those words, "This is your last chance" were not the words of an uvuncular counselor. They were to break us.

A few of the weaksters caved but they didn't know anything. The name of the artist (Billy Frye) was never mentioned. Harley slapped us around a bit; one kid, Timmy Frye, soiled himself. Most of us, though, Billy Moran, Ricky Sweeney, and myself were streetwise. We knew he was more afraid of us than we were of him. Most importantly, we knew, that
even though we weren't even 12 yet, most of us had heard, "This is your last chance" so many times--and it never was--that we tried not to laugh when he said it.

Good job, Bobby: I think you just saved
