Here in Alaska Governor Palin is gone, but her legacy of obstructionism still remains.

Public records requests made more than a year ago for Sarah Palin's e-mails still haven't been filled by the state, and the Alaska Democratic Party chairwoman alleges it's an attempt to bury the past.

"I think they're hiding something, I think this is a travesty of justice," state Democratic Party Chairwoman Patti Higgins said Wednesday. "The law says they have 10 days to do it."

Public records in Alaska are generally supposed to be provided within 10 days, although the state can extend the deadline for more complicated requests.

State officials say this is no cover-up, but rather a case of massive requests that have overwhelmed the state's resources. Assistant Attorney General David Jones said the 11 largest public-records requests from last year remain unfilled; most of them, he said, require the review of between 2,900 and 30,000 documents.

Well hell it has been quite some time surely they are almost finished getting those e-mails prepared fro release by now!

Parnell's office this week asked the attorney general for another extension, which is expected to be granted. The request came after Jones said the documents wouldn't be ready by the latest deadline of Nov. 30. "At this point, we are uncertain how long it will take to complete the review process ... despite our staff's best efforts, we still have a significant number of records to review," he wrote.

You have GOT to be kidding me! How long has this been going on now?

Democratic Party Chairwoman Higgins said she'll meet with the Alaska Civil Liberties Union to see if the ACLU would be willing to file a lawsuit seeking to force the state to produce the records, which she requested on Sept. 22, 2008. State officials said her request involves reviewing about 21,000 documents.

No way should this process still be ongoing! The state is supposed to provide these documents within TEN DAYS. They can extend it for extenuating circumstances, but not freaking FOREVER!

And in case, after all of this time, you have forgotten exactly what this e-mail request was asking for in the first place:

In the request, Higgins sought Palin's schedules and calendars between Jan. 1, 2007, and Sept. 15, 2008. The Democrats also sought various categories of e-mails for about the same time period, including:

• All e-mails between Palin and state Rep. John Coghill, R-North Pole, or between Palin and state Sen. Fred Dyson, R-Eagle River, with the words "abortion" or "AGIA," which is short for the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act.

• All e-mails from Palin containing the following words: babysitter, childcare, McCain, Obama, Democrat, Huckabee, Wal-Mart, Eskimo, Natives, Kuwait, passport, Ruedrich or Kopp.

• All e-mails between Palin and her husband, Todd, with any of the following words: vote, veto, budget, oil, Monegan or Wooten.

• All e-mails between Palin and her sister, Molly McCann, with the words Wooten or Monegan (referring to figures connected with the so-called "Troopergate" affair.)

I can only imagine what these e-mails contain (and trust me that a thrill runs up my leg at the very thought) but whatever it is I am certain that Palin, and her lapdog Sean Parnell, DO NOT want us to see them.

I have very little doubt that if, and when, Patti Higgins gets these e-mails they will be so redacted that they will just look a like a piece of black construction paper. Palin's only defense seems to be hiding behind Facebook, and having her Palin-bots provide cover, until everybody hopefully gets tired of trying to hold her accountable for her actions.

How about it gang? Are you getting tired of looking for the truth behind Sarah Palin, babygate, and her possibly criminal behaviors?

Me neither.

They have to review her e-mails. Think about this if her e-mails read like her word salad it's going to take a long time.
Oh snap ! Keith just had a great laugh about Levi. Poor kid thinks he is taking off his clothes for women.

Pretty ridiculous that they've not been able to produce the documents at this point ... (I have to wonder if the "state" emails from the Yahoo account were ever preserved; I rather doubt it!)

The State of Alaska is interfering with the rights of the people. Excuses are lame.

There is no way to call them on out on what they are doing? The impropriety spells of corruption.

When will Alaskans light their torches and put a fire under their obstructionist bureaucrats?

  5. If what basically comes down to Palin's-administration-still-in-place doesn't cooperate and finally release the Patti Higgins e-mail request by the November 30, 2009 deadline and a ACLU lawsuit is filed, then I'd say full speed ahead with Babygate.

Palin can be "hanged", figuratively speaking, of course, for a fake baby fraud as well as for corruption, misusing state facilities, e-mail, equipment, and internet for personal purposes, etc.

  6. Not tired yet, I'm rarin to go! Make her produce those documents now!

What amazes me, though I don't know why I am amazed by anything at this point, is how she keeps getting away with everything! I really hope the ACLU does file a lawsuit. This is absolutely ridiculous ... and terribly sad for a democracy.

shouldn't they be made to produce the documents they have reviewed by now?

boy, that would sure be embarrassing to have to admit and surely shine a spotlight on their obfuscation.

By the way, what's happening with that lawsuit about Palin's hacked email account? I'm pretty sure that should have gone ahead by now.

  9. None of this information can be trusted anymore. They have had plenty of time to alter, redact, destroy, delete, and basically hide what ever they want.

I trust nothing that comes out of our state at any level.

O/T Just look at the bear shooting incident in Cooper landing. Those troopers should be fired for ignorance of the law. Just what we need more good-ole-boy cops.

The Supreme Court eventually found against Richard Nixon and he did not have the cover of national security or confidentiality. When Nixon did finally make an incriminating tape available, there was a mysterious 18 minute gap, signs that the tape had been erased over and over and over and over. Now, many years later, tech people are having a good time and a second look to see if they can find any sound on the previously erased tape.

Moral of the Story: Sarah can stall, she can hide, she can obstruct, but eventually she has to turn over the material that is subject to freedom of information. The longer she waits, the worse it gets. What can she be hiding???? Stalling does not imply innocence.

BS! I can search the emails in my Outlook in seconds.

One techie could do it in a day.
then they have to redact them I guess

Parnell is doing a good job on several levels (especially in comparison to his predecessor).
Parnell wants to continue to be Governor. I wonder what will happen to those aspirations when the signs and ads begin to appear that say:
    "Parnell = Obstructionist for Palin"
C'mon Parnell, grow a pair - because a lot of us DO know Bob Poe - and we LIKE what we see!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Now does anyone wonder why Sarah's book was rushed to publication for release on 11-17-09? If those emails were due to be produced on the deadline of 11-30-09, Sarah had to sell as many books as possible before those emails exposed her lies. Now her buddy Parnell is asking for another extension. Does he get a cut of the book profit for that favor? He has no idea how much longer it will take to complete the review?? Sure.

They have no intention of allowing anyone to view Palin's e-mails. They are way past the ten day limit and they are representing the interests of the quitter instead of working for Alaska's best interests. So, sue them for breaking the law.
It's too bad, it will wind up costing the State more money because they are covering for the grifter - and, hasn't she cost you enough with the Troopergate fiasco and those special sessions made necessary by her not fulfilling her term?
And, did they ever honor Celtic Diva's e-mail requests? I suppose not but, never heard anything about it after she raised the fee money.

  15. They have put all of their man power searching for emails and they haven't been able to finish? BS! How hard is it to "Subject" emails and go through them from there?
These people are grossly overpaid if they haven't been able to fill email requests from a year ago!
    They are stalling.
Oh, and Sarah Q (I know she'll be here), STFU!
Your Sarah Worshipping is really kind of sad.
I know that you are a one post wonder. Leave an ignorant comment and never return to see feedbacks because like Sarah, you probably couldn't back up anything that you had to say.

What are they paying the workers to do? Rewrite the emails?

YES, THEY MUST BE MADE TO PRODUCE THE REVIEWED DOCUMENTS AND MADE TO ANSWER A FEW QUESTIONS.

What do the people of Alaska want?

Probably has her hairs standing on end thinking of those going public

Parnell might be another church going saint like Dr. Balwin-Johnson, but he is covering his quitty governors wrongs. People like him understand a subpoena better than talk. Don't let the Mr. Niceguy front fool you. He is not the improvement that Alaska needs. All the dumb crooks before didn't get it, it's not the crime, it's the coverups.

This is unbelievable!! Sarah Palin is a woman who was elected and did not even fulfill her oath of office!! What is with the corruption in your state!? Why are people letting her get away with this?? I have never seen anything like this. Doesn't anyone have balls? God she is a nobody seriously!! What is wrong with the people in your state, the legislature who put up with these lies and her bullshit. Of course they are hiding something!!

Right while I was writing this, Levi's commercial with Tank came on NBC! It is hysterical! It was followed by another short pistachio commercial.

As far as why Sarah looks so odd in the photos from today, she looks plastic and unattractive. Her lies, her temperament, and her delusional sense of self-importance are turning what was an attractive woman into an extremely ugly person.

  29. Anonymous8:03 PM

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you Alaskans have the opportunity to elect a new governor next fall and get rid of the Palin regime all together? Then campaigning would be starting in less than 6 months from now?

I am under the impression that nothing can really be scrubbed from a computer. So why haven't the hard drives been impounded and the relevant information and emails been extracted? This would avoid any tampering with the content also too. This is probably a silly question, but I would like to know why.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Basically, you have to actually melt or shred the drive to be sure that the data is gone.

Of course, that could be considered obstruction of justice. That's why Nixon didn't destroy the tapes: he would have been impeached on those grounds.

So Sarah would be screwed either way...IF Alaskan government wasn't filled with her little whores.

  32. Anonymous11:07 PM

They are doing this because they can. It's really simple. Alaskans are letting them do wit Why is that? Is every politician and state agency crooked? All of you should be more demanding. I have lived all over the country and i haven't seen anythink like this. Why isn't there more (or any) protesting about this. File complaints with your state AJ but CC the federal office. Write letters to every state paper. Write your representatives. It's a big game and Scarah wins because all of you are letting her. Parnell better pray for a new job too. What a weak man. It's too bad because it sounds like he's at least trying. .

Bet Sarah is fuming with Obama being handed the Nobel Peace Prize. I so want these emails to bring Sarah to her knees.

I was at the library yesterday and picked up a copy of Trailblazer and was thumbing through the book before I put it back on the shelf. A passage in the book caught my eye. It was the comments of Sarah's mother talking about why Sarah had quit the television station. She said Sarah found the work to be much harder than she had expected.

It looks like Sarah doesn't like hard work!

And what about the Alaska Fund Trust? Wasn't it supposed to produce a disclosure last summer? Way over due.

What happened to the investigation of how this fund is structured? Has Sarah drawn down any funds from it? Whose salaries does it pay, what contributions have been made, what constitutes its overhead costs?

This fund is still asking for money on the web. I don't understand why you guys aren't putting pressure on this issue as well.
