Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin promises to limit her enthusiasm during her visit to North Carolina's Fort Bragg.
The former Republican vice presidential candidate planned to sign copies of her new memoir at a post store Monday. Army officials say Palin will not make a speech, pose for photos, or personalize notes in the books she signs.
The Army worried Palin's appearance would prompt political grandstanding against President Barack Obama. That fear initially led post commanders to keep news organizations from covering Palin's appearance, though the restrictions were later dropped.
Fort Bragg spokesman Tom McCollum tells WTVD-TV that sales of Palin's book at the post store have been weak so far.
Okay at first, like a lot of you, I was VERY angry that Palin was going to visit Fort Bragg and pimp her book while they are still mourning the terrible tragedy that happened three weeks ago at another army base.
But now with these new restrictions, I am loving it. FINALLY somebody puts Caribou Barbie in her place!
Thank you Fort Bragg, for standing up to this domestic terrorist.
Update: Kerryann sent me this pleasant addition to my post.
Fort Bragg spokesman Tom McCollum told WTVD that sales of Palin's book at the post store have been weak so far.
I wonder how Palin will spin THIS on her Facebook page?
Best news I've heard today! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI was feeling real "icky" about sarah being on the post but feel better about it if they can keep her undercontrol. I wouldn't bet on it though.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see how she will get around the restrictions. Rules are made to be broken for Sarah.
Ft. Bragg, NC = not Ft. Hood TX. I'm sure there's a level of mourning at Ft. Bragg for the killing spree a Ft. Hood, but not nearly as much as at Ft. Hood itself.
ReplyDeleteI hope this decision by the Ft. Bragg command is a precursor to how limited Palin's activities will be at Ft. Hood.
In fact, I hope Ft. Hood turns her away -- there is no conceivable excuse for her to go there, since she isn't related to any of the victims or even any of the unharmed soldiery.
Guilty pleasure in saying "Sit down and shut up, $arah!" Love it*;}
ReplyDeleteLet's see what Fort Hood, recovering from their tragedy, will decide to do.
Are you sure you are not confusing Fort Bragg with Fort Hood, Gryphen? She will be at Fort Hood next week, 12-4 or 12-5, I believe.
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo maybe there is a god afterall. It is outrageous that Palin is being allowed yo fly around our country pushing her book & unamerican activities. Good Lord, with "patriots" like this we can hardly fear the "terriorists" as our worst enemies. Hats off to Fort Bragg.
ReplyDeleteGryph,
ReplyDeleteAn HP blogger mentioned the "Secret Sarah New World Order" hand signs that she has been flashing. Know anything about that?
Either the Army said no to the extended family- or - she is paying attention to all the posts about dragging the baby out into the cold weather. And - the bus is back!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.wcnc.com/news/politics/Some-camp-for-chance-to-meet-Palin-at-NC-base--71599282.html
Yes, I thought it was odd for Palin to be touring on army bases, but I read somewhere that the post exchanges (military department stores) often have book signings from other authors. It may be a great thing, if few people actually attend. We can only hope. The military who voted for the McCain/Palin ticket will show up, unless they have educated themselves about her in the past year.
ReplyDeleteI saw that and put in the previous post! I LOVE it. I certainly hope Fort Hood takes the initiative to shut her trap. You are right Gryphen, there is no reason for her to go there but for her own self interests.
ReplyDeleteI am glad the sales are weak. That should send a HUGE message to Sarah only it won't. The troops REALLY like President Obama. Why? They appreciate that he is taking the time to thoughtfully analyze whether to send more troops to Afghanistan. The situation there is very very complicated as most of you know. It would be irresponsible of him to just send troops without knowing everything and making an exit strategy. Can you imagine how she would handle this? She should realize that there is a lot more to supporting the troops (like how about watching out for their lives) then showing up and waving and winking. I personally do not think she should be allowed on any of the army bases, after the way she has criticized the Commander in Chief on so many occasions.
ReplyDeleteAnd anon 8:33 you are probably right, knowing Sarah, she believes rules don't apply to her and she'll find a way to get her digs in and to say a few partisan things. Her entire book is partisan so why is she there?
I wonder if she would have had the nerve to trash POTUS Obama and what would the reaction of her fans been?
ReplyDeleteI have seen several interviews with palin's adoring fans on various blogs.
They are as empty headed as she is.
But, she and beck and limbaugh are getting great traction with sound bites. They poor/stupid(who should know better, but do not care) people have No idea what she stands for and even what she has said.
Even though she had said several things on the campaign trail,if they are not acceptable now, they blame McCain and His ideas and handlers, they are not what Sarah truly believes.
I hope that more people would rally against palin but have not seen any.
My Borders had 2 signs for the book, 40% off and 30% off. They were piled high and no one was around the table.
I think they are still angry about her interference in the NY 23rd election!!!
PLEASE write to Fort Hood:
ReplyDeleteHere is my e-mail to the commander:
Dear Sir:
Book authors have come to bases, but never political book authors who are campaigning. And certainly not someone inciting treason against the Commander In Chief.
WHY is Sarah Palin, keynote speaker (in 2008) of the A.I.P. (secessionist Alaska Independence Party) allowed on a military base?
Link to Palin's A.I.P. speech just last year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwvPNXYrIyI

ReplyDeleteIt wouldn't be the "skeletal pointy index finger(s) sign", would it?
e-mail for Fort Hood:

Please have a look at what is being pushed on Sarah's OFFICIAL site ...
ReplyDeleteRemember: Sarah's OFFICIAL site is highly censored, so therefore, anything that remains on there has her approval.

As for weak sales ... now that all the 'pre sold' copies are safely stored in Murdock's wharehouse ... Going Rogue is not even on the NYT's Bestseller list (yesterday)
ReplyDelete...... sales ???
lisabeth .. her book is 'partisan' >>> Her book is about Sarah, nothing to do with party politics at all.
ReplyDeleteAssociated Press - By Rachel D'ORO article in Juneau Empire headline "Militia movement resurfaces in Alaska." Apparently Norm Olson (tossed out of his own militia movement for his conspiracy theories 15 years ago(Michigan Militia)....is now basing himself in a tiny unincorporated cmty - Nikiski, Alaska.
ReplyDeleteSo, he's located himself on 22 acres of land - betcha' they've got the stink eye on him now, if they didn't. These guys can't resist the spotlight....I feel bad for the people of Nikiski though. "Meet your new neighbors via the newspapers"
Here is the contact information for the PAO at Fort Hood, Sarah Palin should not be allowed on Fort Hood to spread hate about President Obama or possibly inflame conditons there post shooting incident. She is at Fort Bragg right now and has been muzzled. A lot of us called them about Fort Bragg. They aren't happy about being called BTW.

The woman who said people should be profiled will visit Ft. Hood, the base where the shootings occurred, on Dec. 5th. I hope it doesn't turn into a spectacle. The civilians in that area may love her, but it will be interesting to see how the military responds.
ReplyDelete"New World Order" is a John Birch Society meme.
ReplyDeleteI tried both email addresses and mail was sent back as rejected
ReplyDeleteAmericans who speak publically against the President and the country should not be given access to military bases. The end.
ReplyDeleteHere are telling interviews of Sarah's clueless supporters. Laughable, if not so scary.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKKKgua7wQk
I am surprised by her low sales there.
ReplyDeleteRepublicans usually do well with the military.
I tried to email Fort Hood but it bounced back. Ella did you get notice of delivery failure when you wrote?
ReplyDeleteYep, yay for the Kenai Peninsula! Land of Franklin Graham and billion-dollar non-profit aviation "ministries"!
ReplyDeleteAnd don't leave out the TeenPact Christian paramilitary training camp opening in Alaska next spring!
TeenPact = Tim Echols = Care Net, the Justice Foundation, Campus Crusade For Christ, Council for National Policy, Arlington Group, The Caleb Campaign (a creationist youth ministry), Worldview Academy, Dr. James Dobson/Focus on the Family, Network of Politically Active Christians, and oddly enough, a VP of CIGNA HealthCare (yikes).

ReplyDeleteWhy was Chuck Heath allowed to speak against our President at Ft. Bragg? SHAME on him, and shame on the reporter who gave him an opportunity to do just what Ft. Bragg didn't want $P to do.
Treason much? His AIP roots are showing.
I hate them lot of them. Please, it's TIME. Out with it!
In the added newspaper article:
ReplyDelete*********************
Palin's father, who greeted supporters as his daughter signed copies of the book, said in an interview that Obama's handling of the military was "scary."
"I see a decline in our might," Chuck Heath said. "People used to be afraid of us and respect us, (but) they're not afraid of us and don't respect us anymore."
*********************
Guess Dad took over the comments, huh?
SoCalWolfGal- yes, my email to Fort Hood bounced back. I have re-sent it, as well as the following (in light of today's events) to
ReplyDeletehood.pao.news@conus.army.mil
It is their media arm but I asked them to please forward it to the Commander of the base.
Today's follow up:
To Whom it may Concern (and PLEASE forward to commanders if you can):
Sarah Palin's dad is traveling WITH HER! This is what he said at Ft. Bragg today:
Palin's father, who greeted supporters as his daughter signed copies of the book, said in an interview that Obama's handling of the military was "scary."
"I see a decline in our might," Chuck Heath said. "People used to be afraid of us and respect us, (but) they're not afraid of us and don't respect us anymore."
http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5iltfRk8-HXLZliLywAGsDpo1Mt4wD9C5FDHG3
It's noteworthy that Palin's Facebook page is full of comments calling for the death of our President, sedition, and overthrowing of the Obama administration as being God's will. She's also the defacto leader of the Tea Party Movement, to be officially crowned as such by them this February. The notion that Palin is politically neutral and does not represent a threat to the Commander in Chief's authority is painfully absurd.
PLEASE do not allow Palin at Fort Hood (to spew her hate and vitrol against our Commander in Chief).
PLEASE, the woman is very DANGEROUS.
She should be BANNED from any further Military Base appearances...and PROFILED!!!
ReplyDeletePUCK CHUCK, STFU you ignorant dickhead, illegal moose killer and spawner of the most evil quitter to ever take the "court".
ReplyDeletePROFILE pALIN NOW! PROFILE pALIN NOW!PROFILE pALIN NOW!
ReplyDeleteProfiling and Palin's trip to Fort Hood
ReplyDeletePalin did not specify what she meant by “profile,” widely and generally believed to be a reference to focusing on groups of people by race, religion or otherwise.
Save us, Levi! You’re our only hope.
Chuck Heath: Palin's father, who greeted supporters as his daughter signed copies of the book, said in an interview that Obama's handling of the military was "scary."
"I see a decline in our might," Chuck Heath said. "People used to be afraid of us and respect us, (but) they're not afraid of us and don't respect us anymore."
Can't Congress hold an emergency session? I find it weird their isn't much coverage.
ReplyDeleteSo, Chuck Heath went rogue at Ft. Bragg today. Like father, like daughter. Now we know where Sarah Plain got diarrhea of the mouth.
ReplyDeleteHaving had no luck in sending a protest email re SP's appearance at Ft. Hood, I left a voice mail for the PA officer there, stating that as a citizen, a taxpayer, and one who served my own "tour of duty" as the wife of an Army veteran, I'm opposed to Palin's setting foot on any U.S. military installation in the future. Don't know whether this will work, but it felt good to make the effort.
Yes - some authors are allowed on military installations to sign books, but they are more often locals and are never politically motivated, or they wouldn't be allowed.
ReplyDeleteSomeone higher up, probably the Pentagon, undoubtedly gave the green light for her appearances. I sense Cheney's hand in this, but I could be wrong.
This page for Fort Hood has lots of email links - contact the commanders, the Public Affairs Officer, and anyone else you can. Clicking on their emails will open an email and then write one good one and copy it and paste it into others to saturate the post with your opposition to allowing her there.
If nothing else....Chuck Heath should not be allowed on after today's words. Have those people already forgotten how badly Palin has bashed Obama since the day she was tapped by McCain? Sickening!
