At least ET gets the Sherry Johnston sentencing details right.

ET confirms that Levi Johnston's mother Sherry Johnston has been sentenced to five years in jail, following her guilty plea to a drug charge stemming from her arrest last December.

Sherry's lawyer tells us she only faces two years of actual incarceration: Two of her five years were suspended, and she'll receive one year of "good time" credit as well as credit for the three months she's already served. She could possibly serve her time at home via an ankle monitor due to her lack of criminal history, her lawyer adds.

Sherry also faces three years of probation once she gets out of jail or off the ankle monitor.

Her lawyer tells ET that Levi and his sister Mercede were on hand for their mother's sentencing, and the judge called this a mitigated and unusual case. The state said they expect Sherry to do well on probation.

The difference between this article and the ADN article is that ET actually TALKED TO SHERRY'S ATTORNEY! Which is what I did, and why I also knew that Sherry was headed back home.

    a mitigated and unusual case....

I want to learn more about that part. I understand the FBI is not usually involved Wasilla drug cases. What happened here? Unusual timing could be addressed also.

What about Bristol and the cell phone? Is Johnny still feeling sorry or poor Bristol?

Gryphen, please take a look at my nephew's website. I think you would enjoy it. He and his well-educated friends are really quite funny, but they also seriously promote the concept of "community" in our society. That seems to be something you promote as well.

Why would the judge 'call this a mitigated and unusual case'?

For the possibility of her serving her time at home with the monitor?

For what the judge considers a light sentence as from what I've read, it's longer than first time offenders in the same circumstances?

When you add in the pink handcuffs, etc. and the sentence, I'd like to know what's behind the curtain as this has suspicion involvement written all over it.

Have we heard of the pink handcuffs being used anywhere else on anyone??

  4. Is it really true that the judge is an old boy friend of SP's? The quotes from the judge did not sound like he's the type of person to be influenced by SP to give a harsh sentence. But what do I know?

Who was responsible for the ruling that -- after Rex immed paid the overdue phone bill to reinstate Sherry's phone service -- that Sherry had to spend the past months in jail rather than at home on ankle monitor? Could that decision have been made harsher or more lenient via a word from SP? Don't we all know it could have been?

Could that jail/monitor decision (if influenced by SP) have been the reason Levi started talking and hinting? Will the future decision to let Sherry serve the next three years at home result in a quiet Levi?

I suppose any decision re Sherry could be changed for the harsher at any point for some technicality (like phone bill not paid fast enough), so my guess is that Levi will keep his store of damaging info in reserve, until his Mom is home free, after 3 yrs. To say nothing of lifelong visitation/custody issues.

    Huh?

A bit more on that please.
Like how did the Feds know that Bristol's phone number would be answered by somebody else who had drugs to sell?
I think that's the went it went. Please correct me if I am worng.

I wonder if Sarah was ever borrowing the oxycontin from Levi's mom? Maybe Palin got addicted to them and went to rehab or got cut-off by Sherri just before the arrest?
