Levi Johnston is furious over a William Shatner skit on Wednesday's "Tonight Show"-- in which Levi was made to look like a racially insensitive pothead -- claiming the outrageous Twitter posts Conan attributed to Levi were fake.
Rex Butler -- Levi's lawyer -- tells TMZ the Alaskan is demanding a retraction from NBC. What really pisses Butler off ... before Shatner's dramatic reading of Levi's putative Twitter page, Conan said: "All real ... we did not make these up."
Butler says the Twitter page is NOT Levi's and that, "We are in the process of dealing with Twitter first. I think they have an obligation once something like this happens to make some kind of corrective measure."
You know I asked about this Twitter account a while back and found out it was not Levi's.
I feel bad for William Shatner, I mean HE didn't know.
O'Brien should have done a better job of researching it.
The unfortunate thing about this is that we know Sarah is just loving the opportunity to watch Levi get embarrassed in public. Of course the only difference is that he was embarrassed by somebody else's mistake, and she was embarrassed by her own. Kinda different
Update: I was just downtown working on a follow up piece about the homeless and decided to stop in and see if Rex or Tank were available to comment on this story. (Worth a shot right?)
Anyhow, Rex did take a moment to say hi and show me the mountain of paperwork he is currently buried under. Quite literally his office is awash in letters, legal documents, and case files. He may be the hardest working attorney in Anchorage.
I asked him about the Twitter thing and he did express outrage and stated that he was "dealing with it".
He was particularly upset about the drug reference. Rex does not like it when people attempt to disparage Levi by making things up about him. And really WHO could blame him? I can't say whether or not Levi himself is upset, but I can certainly attest to the fact that Rex Butler was not very happy.
I thanked him, told him that if he needed anything to let me know, and left his office. As usual my impression is that Levi is in good hands and that his welfare is the top priority with TeamLevi. For those of you who express concern, I think you can rest easy.
By the way I did get a little gossip. Apparently young Mr. Johnston leaves next week to start his Playgirl shoot. He will do a short interview but Rex said they are pretty much done with those for awhile.
levi if you're reading, just laugh about this. it's funny as hell. everyone knows it's not your twitter account, so don't worry about.

It's interesting that Twitter took down that fake account "exgovsarahpalin" so quickly but has let this fake Levi account stand for so long.
ReplyDeleteLevi is an easy target, and I think he needs to be a bit more careful about what he agrees to do (the Insider interview was reminiscent of something you'd overhear in a high school cafeteria). Until he shows that he has damaging information that can be substantiated, he is not going to be taken seriously.
I'm really starting to wonder if his handlers really have his best interests at heart.

How will Levi get his reputation back? If you had a powerful person determined that you would not be in their life you might see that they do not want him so much as seeing Tripp.

ReplyDeleteThis is huge and needs to be confronted head on. Conan is being fed by "facts" from Ann Coulter types and he went with it as reality. There are numerous examples of this on the internet. I don't think Conan had malicious intent, I think his team failed to do a good job and they believed those with malicious intent. That is how it works.
Conan and Shatner and all owe a very public apology and explanation of what is going on to smear a 19 year old.
I don't think it is only a smear Palin wants.

ReplyDeleteIt is not huge because people don't care. It is a HUGE propaganda smear campaign to take out a 19 year old newbie. It will happen time and again with new players. I'm chill, don't expect people to care, but why not try and stress it? It is a great example of technique.
Please do sue Twitter. It is in the hands of Rex and Tank. Watch them. If the sources and all can come out with their story and evidence to expose queen-teabag-of-bus-caravan Levi will gain credibility. As is, he is David without a slingshot.
Meanwhile, you can watch Red Eye on Pox news for comedy and you'll know where your propaganda comes from.

I see no reason why Conan and Shatner won't do right once they get that the twitter account was fake and spreading falsehoods.
Levi's celebrity cred is moving up in night time entertainment. The opinion news people need a smack down.

As if it is a fact Coulter knows why daughter, Bristol, was moved to another school. She also failed to mention where Levi was educated, he was home schooled by the Palins while he kept his tooth brush at their house.
Mrs. Johnston is paying her dues and putting things behind her. Geraldo who was a lawyer and very protective of his family, knows better than to use a young man's mother to besmirch him. I'd like to smack down the 1988 Playgirl cover boy for this one

What I'd love to see is Levi respond by actually writing some of his own Tweet-type, haiku-type "poetry," and then going on Conan to recite it beat-style. Maybe a poetry slam with Shatner! It would be an effective response, and could be entertaining, too.

Levi's in good hands? He's being groomed for C-movies, and he cannot, absolutely CANNOT act. How do we know this? Let's see... oh yeah, he's been guided onto every network, looking uncomfortable and foolish. He's doing A NUDE PHOTO SHOOT -- he isn't even 20 years old. I have talked to Rex Butler a grand total of TWO times. I don't believe that qualifies as a "friendship".

Some people are hung up about Playgirl and nude photography. Levi is 19. He has a realistic attitude about his assets. Home schooling at the Palins is not exactly the education of a life time. Not everyone has the advantage of a family with money. Bristol has many advantages, as well as jobs with abstinence only and a major shoe company. You want to judge Levi because he is not ready to resume an education? He is dealing with life as it is handed to him and doing good for a young man.

They had to set up a foundation that as a front, pretending to help pregnant children. Do you see their so called Ambassador doing any work? No, it was a flash tease to promote teen abstinence, Bristol has yet to show she has any interest in it. She remains in hiding and acting like a kidnap victim.
