Palin tells Oprah she would like to make up with Levi Johnston. Uh oh somebody is getting nervous!

While not directly saying whether or not Johnston is invited to Thanksgiving dinner, Palin said her family still has affection for Johnston. (Huffington Post has the video.)

"It's lovely to think that he would ever even consider such a thing," Palin told Winfrey. "Because of course you want - he is a part of the family and you want to bring him in the fold and kind of under your wing. And he needs that, too."

Okay just for the record I believe that "under your wing" is a euphemism for a headlock. And Levi would be insane to get that close to the Palin family without Tank Jones standing right there with him.

Yeah if they are going to set a place for Levi at Thanksgiving then they damn sure better have an extra seat for Tank as well. And possibly an extra turkey or two. Have you seen the size of the guy?

Discussing her new book, "Going Rogue: An American Life," on Winfrey's famous couch, Palin said she and her family want to make peace with Johnston and move past the dramatics that have unfolded in the media over the last year. Johnston was once engaged to Palin's daughter, Bristol, and is the father of Palin's grandson, Tripp.

"I think he needs to know that he is loved and he has the most beautiful child, and this can all work out for good," Palin said. "It really can. We don't have to keep going down this road of controversy and drama all the time. We're not really into the drama. We don't really like that. We're more productive."

And by "productive" Sarah is clearly referring to her time in San Diego telling her ghostwriter to "type faster, dammit!"

Palin also called her interview with Katie Couric during the campaign a "bad interview," but said the campaign staff encouraged her to continue to do others after that.

Can you believe that the campaign staff wanted the person running for Vice President of the United States to give interviews? What is THAT about?

"The campaign said, 'Right on. Good. You're showing your independence. This is what America needs to see and it was a good interview,'" Palin said. "And of course I'm thinking, if you thought that was a good interview, I don't know what a bad interview is because I knew it was a bad interview."

Oh it was bad alright. But without that interview we never would have been blessed with this wonderful SNL skit.

If ONLY the Oprah/Palin interview could be THIS entertaining.

From what I can tell (just skimming, it's too hard to read), SP does not bad mouth Levi in the book. John Kerry-check. Wooten-check, check.

I just said over a Bree's, is this woman so delusional that she thinks people are unaware of the oh-so-public feud that the entire world has been watching thanks to none other than the Quitter Twitter Queen?! Yeah, I am really glad she's not into drama; we would all be in trouble. And can I say with out being catty, what is up with the new hair do? She looks like a hooker (oh, David Letterman, where are you?). And OMG that screechy voice. But, hey other than that I really enjoyed it. Cannot wait to see the whole thing.

Yes, Mary, that cracked me up as well.

if you look at the book tour schedule, it's pretty clear that she's not even going to be in Alaska for TG. Oh, my, did our Sarah tell a little fib?

Why did she bring her kids along for the interview? They belong in school. Let them live their own life. They are living through their mother. BAAAd way to go.

  8. Bwahahahaha..ad infinutum. She is SO lying. She did not know it was a bad interview. She does not want to bring Levi "into the fold" (at least not to nurture him; maybe kill him). And Levi would be a fool to sit down at the table to eat with them without Tank testing the food first!

She was, and has always been, a drama queen! I have a feeling this interview is going to be torn apart BIG TIME!!

You can tell that someone has been coaching her heavily, because this reply is more nuanced then anything we have heard from her previously. She worded it so that it sounds like Levi has a standing invitation to be around the family, yet he is the one choosing not to come. In any previous interview she would have just stated that he did not want to come, then insulted him. If she is learning the subtleties of speech, she may actually pose a more viable threat.

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

    My sentiments - exactly!!!

Hard to believe, that now she really expects everyone to believe her 'change of heart'-- main reason being, I am sure she has no heart --one that is workig at least.

Oh God ... had to return her to post this because I was just at Bree's page and Mrs Tarquin BiscuitBarrel (sorry if I misspelled) reminds us all of another reason why Levi might not want to take them up on a Thanksgiving get-together: the turkey pardoning video. Bwahahahahaha. I'm trying to laugh quietly and not interrupt my husband's therapy session.

  14. Once again, no admission that it was her answers to Couric's questions that were bad. No, she had nothing to do with the fact that it was bad. Honestly, I think this woman is having an extended break with reality.

I second what mary b said.

  15. I think Palin's idea of "under your wing" means being able to control him like she does the rest of her brood and staff.
Advice to Levi: Don't fall for it! She is a narcissist and she doesn't give a rats' ass about anything but herself.
If you do not go to court to fight for joint custody of your son, they will never allow you to take him out of the Palin Sanitarium (and they will have every right not to let you).

Palin attempting to try and take the high w/ Levi is enough to make me gag! She is as sincere in this gesture as she is with her love for Alaska...just freaking sickening. I imagine this interview is just the beginning of her media disasters w/ her book tour and TV interviews.

  24. My opinion will be unpopular, but I hope they DO make up - for the sake of little Tripp. This family drama is ridiculous, and really not needed to bring Palin down. We are counting on a 19 year old kid to do what SP will NO DOUBT do to herself. She will be on her word salad tour, and she has NOT improved since her VP run (re her speech patterns, her knowledge, her grasp of ANY issues etc.) - she will, FOR SURE, be a laughingstock soon enough - her BFF Prejean has done it to herself in a few days time, so will scarah. And the wheels of justice turn slowly - but I believe they ARE turning re housegate, religiongate, Fund Trust gate, Dairygate, and per diem gate - the IRS and the Feds are not going to let her get away with the list of illegal activities (her little personnel board might, but Feds will not).

Just for the record, you make me want to sleep with the lights on.

The expression "under your wing" has not evolved from the WWF where doubtless much of your world view has its roots. Birds protect their young from predators by sheltering them with their wings and even Jesus employed the imagery in Luke 12:34 where he expresses sorrow because he wished to protect the people of Jerusalem as a hen does her chicks but they shunned him despite his compassionate motives.

I think its fitting to close with a reference here to the blind leading the blind.

Ok, I looked at the video and what is up with her hair? Is she wearing a wig?

And no, I don't believe the campaign staff told her that she gave a good interview.

  27. I really didn't hold out any hope for the Oprah interview. This was really a now win situation for Oprah...if she asked Palin real questions, she would be accused of being an Obama operative, and now that she's done this "cupcake" interview with Sarah, Oprah shows herself for what she really is...nothing but a celebrity suck up.

I don't watch Oprah, and don't plan to on Monday...neither her or Sarah deserve the ratings. I do think it's hilarious that it is so obvious Levi now has Sarah right under his thumb, and he has played her like a fiddle. This should be proof positive to any doubters that Levi's got the goods on her.

NBC Nightly News is going to report on some of the leaked bits of Sarah's book. (There's a very good article about an advance look over at HuffPo.) NBC told us that it's payback time for Sarah, settling old scores with McCain's staff and the media.

Oprah asked Sarah about the Katy Couric interview, and Sarah's nervous laugh was the giveaway. She can't let it go, and she is still trying to get even. (My mean-spirited sister-in-law was always trying to "get back at people" who she believed had insulted her. I am very good at spotting it).

Sarah seems to forget that the Katy Couric interviews are recorded and can be replayed anytime. Sarah looked the fool. In one interview, Sarah clearly has note cards in her lap, and keep looking down at them, rattling off topic headlines, sounding disjointed and not answering whatever had just been asked.

It was that exact same moment that Tina Fey replayed in her dead-on impersonation on SNL, reading Sarah's comments verbatim. Anytime that Sarah wants to rewrite that chapter and revisit those interviews shows that she is still the petty person who hurls insults at a 19 year old kid, badmouthed people who were trying to get her elected and has thrown people under the bus when she used them up.

How many times in the last year has Sarah bad mouthed Levi and his family?

He's not the defenseless target he was a year ago or even 6 months ago.

But Sarah is a venomous snake with an “attitude” and she'll strike sooner or later.

She needs to shore up her "family values" but that's just for show.

Anon 1:03, Luke's a way cool Gentile in my book, but none of his words trump ANY words or message attributed to Christ himself. . .who gave very clear prescriptions as to how to love neighbors and enemies alike. Normally I don't like to write religious or spiritual prescriptions for other, but it is SO evident from her own words and behavior that Sarah needs more Christ in her life.

I fear she has slipped off the edge of her own coin. . .

Also, I'm with ella. As much as I would heartily (and selfishly) enjoy continued strife between Levi and Palin for purely political reasons. . .this is wrong and immature.

I would guess that none among us has escaped the thorny mess of family feuding. . .and all of the positive and negative motivations this entails, it's awful for everyone involved; worse, even, for the perpetrators. The very worst for the children, who have no tools, or perspective, or proper defenses.

I share everyone's despair with Sarah's character, and I also suspect her motives and MO. Nonetheless, it is so hard to be parents and children these days, one HAS to take the high road and wish this family some sincere resolution, from whatever quarter.

Surely the campaign against Sarah does not require the continued pain of intra-family relationship failure.

In this case, I am all for any and all 'making things up' -- however they see fit and are capable of doing.

Palin: Crazy as a fox or just plain crazy?

Ken Khachigian, who, as a longtime advisor and writer for Richard Nixon, knows a bit about making phoenixes rise from the ashes, doesn't see a downside no matter what Palin's plans are.

"Controversy is not necessarily bad, and she will, because of who she is, survive her critics," he says. "She has created herself as an interesting person, and that's one of the Nixon dictums -- the worst thing in politics is to be dull."

Nixon wrote "Six Crises" after he lost his first run for the White House, Khachigian says, adding that although it "didn't help him in 1962" -- when he famously lost the California gubernatorial election to incumbent Pat Brown -- "it kept him in the public eye." After his resignation in the wake of the Watergate scandal, Nixon again resuscitated his image in part through writing a memoir.

I don't buy anything that woman says. Like the posters here, her laugh after the mention of Levi, that mean high-school girl laugh......not becoming for a woman who could have been the Vice President of the USA. And, not becoming of a supposed high standards mother who talks about this sad public drama to PROMOTE her book? It's all a very sad scenario.

If Sarah "loved" Levi, or Bristol, or Tripp, none of this drivel would be spoken about with a daytime talk show host. If the woman "loved" her family's privacy, and her grandchild, she wouldn't have addressed this family dynamic in her book, or press releases.

Again, the moment she laughed, that cynical bad-girl laugh, gave me the chills. Laughing at that moment, the moment while the father of her daughter's baby is being discussed to millions of people? She could have said no comment. Or just not done the interview. How many moms and dads here would allow their kids private lives put through the ringer on national tv? This woman has a cold, cold, heart. She's a 45 year-old woman who is sparring with a 19 year-old confused young man, whose mother is serving a sentence in jail.

    Way to go, Sarah!

Gryphen is right- run Levi, the other way, and as fast as you can.

It would be nice for Levi and Bristol to work things out for their son. You have to love your child more than you dislike your ex spouse, but that's as far as it has to go. Extended family is optional, and it's something that's earned, not demanded.

After using Levi as one of her props during her failed campaign, I don't blame Levi a bit for being a thorn in her side.

She can't possibly believe the public is so stupid. She's all over the press, on you tube, and many blogs. She tripped herself up in this short clip- it wasn't the Mc Cain people that made the Couric interview a total disaster, it's her jealousy of Katie, for making it big in journalism, something she failed miserably at.
