What happens when two oversized egos, puffed up with self importance, meet? Bill O'Reilly "interviews" Sarah Palin.

The reason that the McCain campaign did NOT do The Factor is because, number one, McCain is not a fan of O'Reilly, and number two, adding Sarah Palin meant that they did not need to pander to the simpletons that watch his show. The mouth breathing knuckle draggers flocked to their ticket just for the chance to look up her skirt.

I find it sort of bizarre that on the one hand Palin bitches about Katie Couric not knowing anything about her accomplishments, but on the other hand complains that she "badgered" her with questions that would have helped clarify those accomplishments. Welcome to Palin's world.

I cannot believe that Palin, with ALL of the skeletons in her closet, expects people to believe that her "D" in college was the thing that she was most worried would be revealed? How much of a Palin-bot do you have to be to buy that load of Moose shit?

And I cannot believe that O'Reilly is willing to combine Palin's pathetic 23% favorable rating with the 37% "don't know" rating to make a possible 60% favorable rating. That would make most statisticians head's explode. The idea that the more people learn about Sarah, the more likely they are to support, her has been demonstrated as false time, and time again.

Did you notice that when O'Reilly says people are calling her "Eva Peron" that she clearly has NO idea who that is?

I noticed that when O'Reilly asks Palin about Levi that she makes the accusation that he is lying about one of her children and lying about her family. Which child is he supposedly lying about? Bristol? Levi has been nothing less than a gentleman toward Bristol. Palin is once again hiding behind one of her children in an effort to shield HERSELF from truthful accusations.

By the way I did happen to ask Levi about the Oprah interview yesterday. He reiterated that he thought the invitation to come to "Aunt Katie's house" for Thanksgiving was fake, and then we discussed the laugh. I told him that I thought the laugh was one of the scariest things I had ever heard, and that they should play it in Haunted Houses during Halloween, which made he and Mercedes laugh and nod their heads.

He also expressed some regret at having been caught cussing on television when he was filmed watching the interview by The Insider. At that, everybody standing there admitted that we had reacted in just about the same manner when WE heard it. But Levi still said he felt bad that his reaction had been broadcast.

Okay at the end of this O'Reilly interview, WHAT does Sarah mean by a "guttural instinct"? And is she thinking of THIS definition of "guttural"?

Having a harsh grating quality, as certain sounds produced in the back of the mouth.

Because I have to tell you, that DOES sound a lot like Sarah to me.

"Guttural?" She obviously doesn't know what it means, unless she's admitting to being shallow.

Of course, Sarah is such a maverick, she'll make up her own definitions.

Thanks for posting this. I normally don't like to watch Palin in any interview. I wanted to see how she would do on Faux. My impression is, that this was the first time O'Reilly has met her. I think he wasn't impressed at all. Her followers will love her "speakin'" like them, but O'Reilly has been around to know that she would be a disaster as POTUS. Her "setting the record straight" on minor and personal things unsettled him. I like the way he admonished her for her reaction to Oprah's question on Levi. Palin contradicted herself a lot.

Let's be honest here. O'Reilly actually sounds like a gentleman when you compare his idea of how he would react to Palin's base reactions.

Why would Palin not understand that interviewers wanted to know what her positions were on national and international issues? What her political thinking was, what school of political thought she belonged to? That they really did not care about Alaskan politics and child rearing?

Or understand that in the area of her qualifications for next inline for the WH she should be talking at the same level as McCain, and as his running mate in the same voice as McCain? It was McCain's candidacy McCain’s policys, not hers.

This is of course a rectorial question. But its answer is a big reason she should never hold any public office.

Gryph - I think that the word she's looking for is "visceral." She made the same mistake in one of her many tweets before she quit. Apparently her team of blog-checkers missed it. There were quite a few comments at the time (I think on Mudflats) of her malapropism. (she obviously thinks that "gutteral" means coming from the gut...:)

  8. BOR kept goin' to the well, but nuthin' there. Ended a number of questions by schooling her on how she should have handled the media. Overall he came off disappointed in her. Seemed really stunned that the great white hope of the GOP had shot herself in the foot with her silly petulance over Katie Couric's "badgering, condescending" question...and that she STILL wouldn't let go of that victim persona in this interview. He sure didn't like $P's adolescent "my bad" usage!

"I like the way he admonished her for her reaction to Oprah's question on Levi. Palin contradicted herself a lot."

Plus she turned Oprah's question around and created an answer for BillO that makes it sound like Levi was attacking her kids. Even though he hasn't.

So once again Sarah uses a lie and her children as a political weapon to excuse her own ugly personal attacks.

Sorry. His legs are open WIDE to her and she's batting her eyes at him, they're practically having sex on camera.

She always does that with the male interviewers and I think she was shocked that it didn't work on Charlie.

She just smiles and twinkles her eyes and offers a promise in her eyes and the guy can hardly speak.

There is always the hope that if he finds her qualifications ie intellect, unimpressive that he will not push her PR.
He may remain tacit, but if he's not trying to "progress" her, that message will get heard.

Well, first, Palin is a liar, and second, Palin projects. I suspect she thought Trig should have been aborted, although she probably wouldn't consciously acknowledge that even to herself. Any comment about Trig's needs would trigger that thought. It doesn't matter if nobody said it- it's what she thought she heard.

I was asking about this in another IM thread:

If Sara has written anything in her book that can be sued for libel, and if she has an indemnity clause in her publishing contract (pretty standard I understand), the AUTHOR is responsible for any and all expenses associated with a lawsuit. The publisher gets to profit everything and is responsible for nothing.

From what I understand, that's why publishers rarely fact-check their books, too costly and they aren't responsible. Some editors will put a stop to something really over the top, but it would have to be huge. (Missing Levi chapter?)

I wonder if there is anything she said that will provoke a lawsuit? Maybe she should set aside some of that advance or ask her fans for her legal fees again.

So, to those who have read her book, did she do a lot of needless character defamation in her pity party book that will provoke a lawsuit?

You are right Gryphen, Palin was clueless about the Eva Peron comment. And her only worry was the press found out about her receiving a D; she cannot expect "normal" people to believe such crap. What really makes me sick though is the Mama Grizzly bit. An incredible insult to real mothers, bears or otherwise.

Since when did Palin admit to mistakes until now? I cannot recall any time when she admitted to making mistakes when she was actively campaigning or afterwards. Please refresh my memory if you know of specifics. Thanks.

Also, what is with the "ame-stream" media comment? How long has that been used? This is the first time I've heard it, but then I pretty much listen to MSNBC, NPR and read so I am not privy to her sources. There must be braver folks than me who wade into the wingnut territory on scouting and fact-finding missions. Please enlighten me because otherwise I am going to presume Palin is just like W in making up nicknames for people and things he feels are beneath him.

  25. Wow, Palin paranoia!

About that D in college? I'm not aware that "the liberal media" EVER found that out about her. Did they?

Palin obviously has no idea who "Evita" is. And "gutteral"? I'm sure you're right, Anon @ 7:39 AM, she must mean "visceral", but she's too ignorant to use a dictionary.

As for "coming after her" or "putting a target on her forehead", hell, NO ONE in the lower 48 knew about her! At the very least, the media was just going about their business of "the public's right to know". The "vitriol" came later when she began her rabble-rousing pitbull routine.

Both BOR and Palin -- and every other person who voted McCain/Palin -- are still trying to revise history. Like her throwing in the "14 year old" in the response about David Letterman's "joke" -- which DL never ever mentioned...

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anonymous9:27 AM

I couldn't stop laughing when BOR agreed that no other network was "fair and balanced" except Fox -"well, that's why Fox does so well." Barf.

Did her huge dark cross and "dove" (that is what it was, right?) catch any one else's attention. I figured she'd wear some symbol of her "faith," but it surprised she felt compelled to wear two at the same time. It was as if, to me, that she wanted to make sure we didn't miss her "C"hristian self.

I was annoyed when she referred to Levi as that "character" and then later as "someone who is running around making things up." Shees, he is essentially still a kid and yet she obviously feels very threatened by him. I hope someday soon he will talk frankly and fully about her because she should not be allowed to cast endless digs at him. He is beginning to strike me as a decent kid who's been throw into depths he's not accustomed to and is struggling to do the right thing. I wonder, though, how long it will be before he really hits that wall and says "enough, Sarah." Perhaps if he considers the legacy portrait she is painting of him that his son might buy into, he will find a way to say what he has to say without sinking to her level. (Not that hard to do, I think, because she is digging herself a deeper hole every day.)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Anonymous9:32 AM

I agree that BOR was "schooling" her and at times I surprised to feel that he was dismayed at how unprepared she was and how she still doesn't seem to "get it." Is Hades freezing? I cannot believe I am saying anything remotely nice about BOR or that I feel as if he was doing something right for a change. Wow - I guess that the real power Palin has - the power to make almost anyone seem brighter and better than she is.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Anonymous9:35 AM

No dear, the controversy was NOT that "people were saying that Trig should have been aborted". Where do you come up with this crap?? Was it one comment on one blog post on one day? I mean, truly, WTF??

The main controversy once you were picked, my dear, was that YOU FAKED YOUR PREGNANCY WITH TRIG, and that indications were that BRISTOL WAS REALLY HIS MOTHER. You KNOW that this is still being talked about and looked at and investigated and you CAN'T STAND IT, can you, because you know we KNOW what you did. You think our looking into this and blogging about it is none of our business, and normally, it wouldn't be but for the fact that YOU made that dear little boy an issue and a prop for your Pro-Life campaign crowd. And they were SO impressed with you, weren't they. I am NOT impressed. I am PRO-CHOICE but that doesn't mean I am PRO-ABORTION. At 43 years old I actually became pregnant, and I TURNED DOWN testing for Down Syndrome, because I told the perinatologist that the outcome of the pregnancy would not change for me either way--I would give birth to a Down Syndrome baby. Also, this baby was unplanned and came at a time that I did not think I had it in me to raise another one, yet, I DID NOT EVEN CONSIDER ABORTION. Not one fleeting moment. That's more than I can say for YOU dear. So, who is the more 'pro-life'? I say if there's a contest, I WIN.

I heard NO ONE, NOT ONE PERSON ANYWHERE AT ANYTIME....and believe me I was paying attention...say that Trig should have been aborted. I did hear some say that their personal choice would be to abort a Down Syndrome fetus, but that is THEIR CHOICE, and it is on their conscience. And YOU don't know that God also has compassion for these people as well.

YOU LIE, YOU LIE, YOU LIE.

I agree with whomever said that this is what YOU thought in your own mind; this is what YOU were projecting that other people thought because you YOURSELF thought it. The way you hold that child and the way you USE that child to this day shows the world what you really think of him.

    SHAME ON YOU Sarah.

Hey maybe she was so touchy about DL having meant Willow (when he really meant Bristol) because she was worried about what kinda stuff WIllow was getting into up there in Wasilla, and worried that she would follow in Bristol's and her own, and her mother's footsteps.

She just "assumed" Bristol would know to use birth control, so let's just "assume" she would think Willow would know to use birth control too. And just as she assumed that Bristol wasn't sexually active (or so she says), then she is probably also assuming that Willow isn't either. Which I hope is true, but, hey, once there's one pregnant teen in the family, aren't the chances greater for another one to get pregnant?

Sorry for talking about Willow, and I really hope she can break the family pattern.

  38. I have to say that I don't think O'Reilly did a bad job with this interview. YES he handled Private Citizen Palin with kid gloves (an expression that sounds dirty, but isn't really), but any more pushing that what he did, and she's not going on. The BS about her "not being allowed" on O'Reilly's show because the McCain people wouldn't "let her"--but she never complained to McCain about that? Come on....And that Palin had "no idea" the Unrepresentative Eastern Liberal Elitist Media Establishment (UELEME) wouldn't go after her? She may be stupid, but no one's THAT stupid.....Was she in a coma since the first Bush administration, and never noticed the slanders people were (and still are) barfing up about Hillary Clinton? She's the VEEP to a man who would have been the oldest elected President in history.

The Eva Peron comment....Most Americans wouldn't have known what O'Reilly was talking about (personally, I don't think O'REILLY knew what he was talking about). As a practical matter, our only real exposure to the Perons is from that hideous musical/movie. She should have gotten mad, being told she was Eva Peron....But then again, this is the woman who had to be TOLD she was being pranked by Montreal DJs, pretending to be President Sarkozy...because she had no idea Stefan Carse was was NOT the prime minister of Canada, or that "Sarkozy" really enjoyed the "documentary" from "Oos-Lair," Nay-lon Pay-lon.......

As for Katie Couric's "got ya," I still don't understand why she hasn't said what "newspapers" she reads...Wasillia Weeky Shopper? The Hooterville Holla? The Globe? The question was not snarky or insulting. If someone says they read "all" the newspapers, does that mean The Daily Worker? National Review? Turkey Breeders Quarterly?

  43. BOR DID bring up her quitting, though he may have said "resigning." Palin prattled on about the reason of being a "lame duck," which makes NO SENSE - I checked the sea of pee, and THEY are complaining that she MUST STOP with the "lame duck" excuse. They beg her to use the "gridlock" excuse - could not perform due to ethics complaints. As if her Dept. of Law is not already in place to handle this very thing.

One of the first things Bernie said was that the word she used was "lamestream" media, and that Bernie himself had (supposedly)coined the term, and seemed a bit miffed that Palin didn't credit him with it. Palin lies yet again - even with the tape of her interview with Katie rolling in the background, she lies. From where I sit, Palin was very relaxed as she walked and talked with Katie. She didn't look AT ALL annoyed when Katie asked what she read that formed her opinion. Palin looked confused and fell back on saying she read "everything" because she clearly couldn't remember anything that she read. It was definitely not a calculated answer due to annoyance. Palin became annoyed LATER as she replayed the tape of the interview in her head, realizing she'd blown it.

Then when she gives the correct response "Russia" - he says "excellent!" as if he is talking to a high school student. O'Reilly knows that he cannot give a softball interview but he cannot be hard hitting either. He did this interview for the ratings.
