ADN covers Sherry Johnston homecoming.

Sherry Johnston is back in her Wasilla home after a judge agreed to let her serve a three-year jail sentence with an ankle monitoring device, according to her attorney. (Click the title to read the entire article.)

The article is pretty perfunctory, nothing terribly revelatory about it as compared to mine from yesterday. But at least ADN is providing coverage that is not slanted, and that is an improvement.

They do mention that Levi is not living in the house anymore, which I have known for awhile but kept quiet by request.

The comments over at ADN are not very kind toward Sherry, so if any of you are so inclined I am sure she would appreciate a little support.

I am hoping to get the opportunity to talk to Sherry sometime in the near future and get her side of the story. When I do, I will post it and perhaps we can all learn the truth about what happened to the Johnston family.

  2. One of the commenters asked what Todd's sister got for burglarizing a home with her four year old - any word on that? I've been curious too.

I am a great fan of this no-nonsence blog and tho' none of us are perfect human beings what is going on in AK is mind boggling to me. SP is so mentally disturbed. I think we all have relatives that are. Happy Holidays to Sherry and family.

Gyphen, Merry Christmas to you and your daughter. Thank you for looking out for the Johnston family. Please let them know that a lot of people care about them.
Sherry, Sadie & Levi, you are a wonderful tight family. Things will get better in the new year. You may be under house arrest but at least you are not in jail. You will put your head on your own pillow tonight. Be grateful for the little things, they add up to big things.
Pay no mind to the BS over at ADN. Us bloggers are a tight group. When you are comfortable enough you can reach out to some of us.
Have a wonderful, healthy, happy Christmas. You are loved. Be proud of your children. In spite of all the crap that was thrown at them they never blinked. They held it together quite well. They got it from somebody, it must be you.
    KEEP THE FAITH.

Why don't you alaskan writers get together and develop a tv show kind of like northern explorer except use the real stories of sarah Palin, it would be a smash hit. You can't make this stuff up. It would be a hoot and you guys could make some real money.

  6. Well now my attitude just improved for these holidaze. All our best to the Johnstons. They sure have earned some good quiet time.
I hope you can let their voice flow here, when the time is right. as we would hear with an atuned ear. The ADN is not the place to put out a message.

Peace and blessings to the Johnston family, and to everyone, not just Alaskans, who believes that right triumphs over wrong, that each of us can speak truth to power, in spite of Wasilla evidence to the contrary, that all dark acts will be brought to light in time, and that karma is the ultimate rule of law in the end for all. You cannot escape your fate or future: it waits for each of us, and we can meet it with grace, or with frightened lies that only postpone the inevitable.

I support Sherry Johnston and her family, but I will not cave into the political shill that manipulates her situation into political hay. . .what Sherry did was wrong. She negatively impacted her own family and others, by dealing drugs. OxyContin, and addiction of all sorts, is a terrible drug. . .eviscerates good folks, makes good parents and people into monsters. . .Sherry, I would presume, is good folk. I suspect, therefor, she would not argue with me on this.

Let us not romanticize or politicalsize Sherry's predicatment. Support her? Yes. I wish her the best, addiction is a terrible thing. But do I not detect a whiff of political manipulation on this thread??? Were she on the politically 'wrong' side of this equation, would you all not have her head for lunch????

Some of the support for Sherry on this thread appears to be genuine. . .but some of it stinks of political hypocrisy and to be self serving. . .you don't want to grow up to be like Palin, do you?

anon. @5:54 - I think many of us agree that what Sherry did was wrong. She was (and is) paying her debt to society. As a recovering addict, I say "There but for the grace of God, go I."

My support does not condone her law-breaking, but I do wish her all the best, and I am happy she is back with her family.

  16. I agree that selling OxyContin is B A D bad bad bad. No matter what. But think of all the unresolved questions in this case: the phone Bristol gave Sherry, the unprosecuted snitches who bought from her, the probably genuine pain she was in and for which she was too poor to buy appropriate meds. Then add in the possibility that our dear Sarah was doing a revenge thing, a set-up. I just smell something really off in her conviction. Not sure exactly what.

Then: is she a danger to society, that she needs to be in prison? I say prob not, esp now.

Also: what about Todd's sister's crime of repeated burglary with her small child in tow, with guns involved? I'm waiting to hear that judicial guidelines were the same for her as for Ms Johnston.

Mainly, it's Levi's gentlemanliness and yet assertive behavior re providing for his family and protecting themselves against the monstrous behavior of SP -- which MSM and others involved are too spineless to address! -- that makes me want to support the Johnston family and give them a break.

  17. Why is it a good thing to incarcerate someone with a drug addiction, which is a medical issue?

    Cuz prisons are big business.

    Sad.

Meanwhile, Palin's getting rich telling lies.

    Yup. Sad.

Yes, I think it was the unfairness of it that upset people. Levi was only 17 or 18 when all of this was going down. He is a young father who can't see his child & then they throw the book at his mom. Kudos to him for stepping up to the plate. His world feel apart & he's down a good job of salvaging it. I think we would all be proud to have a son like Levi.

And yes, once again what about Todd's sister? Sarah can't control your crimminal justice. system.

Darklady - addiction is a medical issue with which Sherry probably needs long-term help... but that is not why she was convicted. She admitted to selling drugs. Drug dealers are the reason why many communities see surges in crimes against property and person. She gets no pity or sympathy from me on that score.

However, she admitted responsibility and is taking her lumps. s'error palin could learn a thing or two about from Sherry Johnston.
