Diane Benson announces run for Lt. Governor.

I just received a call from Phil Munger that Diane announced her candidacy for Lt. Governor at the Bartlet Club meeting jsut a few minutes ago.

I find this to be wonderful news.

I am a big supporter of Diane's and have been badgering her for months to run for Congressman in this next election cycle.

At the Cook Inlet Keepers Muckrakers Ball she took me aside and said that she was going to make an announcement at this meeting. Sadly I could not make it, but I am stoked to hear the news.

Diane Benson is a very strong advocate for woman's rights and has done much to educate people about the history and challenges of the Alaskan native people.

She will be a powerful antidote to the poisonous aftertaste Sarah Palin left in the mouth of the country concerning female politicians in Alaska.

Sarah couldn't rule inside a match box without her 10 lbs of make-up, dear. Are you going to keep donating to her PAC to feed the image? Of course you are! More surgery on the way, also, too! Keep writing those checks!

You really are the bot - copy and paste extraordinare bot - looking extra stupid for writing in a post about someone else you have no clue about.

  6. The latest WSJ/NBC News poll shows that President Obama’s approval rating has now slipped under 50%. This makes his the steepest first year decline in modern history.

The KENYAN MUSLIM SOCIALIST sets another record.

Bank bailouts and out of control spending are the reasons.

Gryphen - you could help us a little in finding our better angels by flicking SarahIn2012 off your shovel like so much dog poo.

I would rather read comments about Diane Benson because this is really great news! (Sorry Diane, I let myself go off the path and answer the troll - you are much more worthy of our attention).

I've known Diane for over 30 years, and I don't have a clue what everyone thinks she can bring to government.

She needs to stop running for things, get a job and build a resume. The closest thing she's had to a career was being a teamster during the pipeline.

She's a more intelligent version of Sarah Palin, a lot of flash with little substance - we can do better.

I agree with anon 5:56, she has no experience whatsoever in Governement except for "running" for office. Try being on the school board, city council, anything to build a resume' other than running silent commercials showing yourself picking up dog poop. What was that commercial about anyway? As an actress you would think she would have said SOMETHING. Does she have anything to say?

  19. You Anonymice seem to think that the only life experience that counts toward being an effective leader is holding political office. Do you really know anything at all about Diane or what she's been doing all these years?

    Blue Ak:

That's what we're asking. Last time she ran for office she ran a silent commercial, with sled dogs and shoveling poop. That use of airtime would have been an excellent way to inform us of what she stands for and/or what "she's been doing all these years." Instead it was so ridiculous it ended up on the Leno show. It's a legitimate question considering recent office holders in our fine state have already turned us into a laughing stock.

Are we to expect more pooper scooper commercials?

I certainly don't mind her running for Lt. Gov. but I at this time I can't even consider her for any position of State authority. I did vote for her to run against Young, but that is a different position. I believe she could handle being a Representative but not a Governor or Lt. Gov. That is not only my opinion but I've talked to others who feel the same way I do. Only time will tell.

As far as I can tell, what she's been doing "all these years" is running for office.

Where's the resume? We had the same problem with Palin. Diane needs to build a resume. So far, she's a great speaker and.......

  23. Gryphen,

I agree with others that you should stop this Sarahinwhatever from posting. The comments are never relevant to your posts and they just instill contention. That's the deliberate intention.

I would like to read posts about Diane Benson or whomever else you are posting about.

  24. For those questioning Diane's "resume," I have a couple of suggestions. Phil Munger has some detailed information about Diane's background at his blog. Mudflats also has very nicely summarized Diane's announcement yesterday. But probably the best thing for you to do would be to contact Diane directly and ask her what she's been doing with regard to veterans' issues, women's issues, Native issues (all of which are very important to Alaska) and also ask her what her positions are on other matters of importance to the state - gas lines, oil taxes, etc.

My personal preference would be a Poe/Benson ticket -- Bob Poe who has years of experience within the government over several administrations and Diane, who has been active in the struggle for social justice and equality for decades.

I admit to being biased, as Diane became a personal friend of mine over the course of the past two campaigns, but she is the only candidate in my 63 years that I've ever donated hours of my time to, I believe in her that strongly.

I hope she kicks Craig Campbell's rear and shows him what it is to be ethical and have integrity. Let's get rid of Campbell and run him out of Alaska. He is nothing but a political opportunist and has used Sarah Palin's allegiance to him to advantage. He screwed the Guard and he'll screw Alaska.

Finally a person with integrity. I hope she kicks Campbell's rear. The man lacks integrity and high moral standards.
