Diana Palin's sentencing.

For those who are interested, yes I went to Diana Palin's (Todd's sister) sentencing this morning in Palmer.

It was a pretty interesting court session and I will have much more detail later.

I can say that Palin received SIS (Suspended Imposition of Sentence) and therefore will serve no more jail time.

She WILL continue her substance abuse treatment at Akeela House, where she will receive services on an outpatient basis.

There was also a very emotional exchange between Palin and Ted Turcott, the guy who walked in on her robbing his house.

I will have photographs (and hopefully) video in my follow up post. As well as some things I learned from Mr. Turcott, who I sat next to during the sentencing.

(For those of you who may not be familiar with this case you can read about it here.)

  1. Excellent! I want to hear more about this.

  2. I guess Alaska has a special kind of "justice" if your last name is Palin.

  3. Thanks for updating. Not sure what Diane is doing but it certainly seemed worse than just some booze and pot.

Good to see that she is getting help. Rehab is expensive so Akeela is a nice option without too much out of pocket. Private rehabs are $30,000+ per month so if that amount can be somewhat subsidized for her that is wonderful.

Hope Sarah sees the benefit of government intervention in helping her sis in law fight the bad stuff.

I don't know what Diane Palin's story is but it seems that she got off pretty easy compared to Sherry Johnston. They both have problems related to drugs and in this case justice was not blind. Willow recently got into trouble and from what I read in the blogs she is "lawyered up", I betcha she gets off easy in comparison to the other kids in that home break-in.

Huh? WTF? Levi's mom got hit with a brick, and Sarah's sis in law walks with a feather to the backside?

Someone needs to call this judge up on charges of bias.

  7. I wonder if Auntie Diana will be babysitting the young Palin grandchildren.

Come on....why are we not surprised??? She is a Palin...! Yes there is a special brand of justice up there...NONE if you are a palin.
Well since all own guns up there the next time she gets all methed out, she just might get shot while robbing a house, lets hope her daughter isn't with her.
I am just appalled at the level of corruption and it really makes me see how brave Levi's judge is to buck the paylin's!And Impose LAW!

Drug dealers always get much stiffer penalties than drug abusers.

  10. Double standard?

She seems to have gotten off pretty easy compared to Levi's Mom.

  11. Diana Palin wasn't just a drug abuser, though, she was breaking and entering. That seems like a more violent crime, to me, than dealing though I agree both people are culpable.

Well, I'm all for addicts getting treatment, but why does this defendant get kid glove treatment as compared to others, specifically, thinking of Sherry Johnston, for instance, who was prescribed drugs for a very painful condition? I'm sure as I'm living that Johnston was set up, and that influence was used to give Palin a light "sentence."

AK, however, is no different than any other venue--it's not only who you know, but who you blow, to be crude about it.

  15. I am confused by the fact that Diana Palin was caught breaking/entering the SAME house twice.

Did she know the owner, Ted Turcott? If not, why did she rob him twice? I read the news report but it didn't seem to mention how/why she robbed the same guy again.

    Does anyone know? TIA

  16. I look forward to a time that the name Palin doesn't automatically guarantee special prevlidges. Thanks for the update Gryphen, look forward to more details as you can provide them.

It's a given that a Palin (even on meth) gets a walk.

I'm more interested in the fact that she involved a child in a crime -- what happened to her little girl, and what has been done to protect that child from a mother who is an established drug user and criminal?

And not to complain, but there have been promises of follow-up on a number of news items these last months -- and no follow-up. It's possible that you simply lost track of those stories. Please take a look back, and maybe take the time to summmarize the information that you thought would become available, and didn't?

The palin teflon seems to have rubbed off on Diana. What a crock of schnitzel! Wonder if Aunt Diana will be helping raise Tripp and Trig unsupervised?

Good. I'm glad she is getting treatment. I hope she heals from this stupidness. Drugs are a good way to become stupid. Life is more enjoyable when one is alert. Everyone should cherish each day. I love sobriety it costs less too. Drugs are stupid. Strong drink is for the perishing. If you're planning on perishing forthwith take a strong drink if not...just enjoy each precious moment on this beautiful planet with your loved ones.

  20. Diana Palin brought her 4-year-old daughter along with her to the burglary. Her husband had to be called to come pickup the daughter after Diana was arrested.

Interesting the Meg Stapleton had so much trash talk about Levi at that time but not a peep about Diana.

I read that Diana's husband just filed for divorce, also, too.

  21. I wonder if Sarah will try to interfere with Diane's divorce and custody cases, like she did with the other troopergate mess.

I wonder if Levi will ask the court to only allow Aunt Diana supervised visitation with Tripp.

I wonder if Bristol is worried about her Aunt Diane being in the presence of Tripp? Afterall, weren't they concerned about Sherry being involved with Tripp because of her drug abuse?

I'd like to know, Gryphen, if Mr. Turcott was in favor of a light sentence or not, and if he knew Diana Palin or not.

Also, did Diana still look awful or has her appearance improved since her arraignment?

    Am awaiting your updated info.

  28. Suspended imposition of sentence does not shorten her sentence, it is a type of probation in which her charge comes off her record when she successfully completes her probation. She broke into someone's house and got SIS probation? The court system in Alaska is clearly political, that is unbelievable! If she was not Todd Palin's sister this would have never happened in a million years. For my charge in Nome(which only the most backwards ten states charge nurses)almost all nurses get no jail time and three years of SIS probation. I got jail time and regular probation. This state is so corrupt is reeks. Diana probably had a good lawyer and not the PDs who are really worse than no lawyer.

  29. most parents take their kids shopping. she took her kid out for a little B&E. How many times did she not get caught? at least once, probably many more times.

In my state, she would lose custody as she well should.

I have 2 children in my home that I have now adopted. The mother was (and still is) on meth. She routinely broke into homes to 'shop' for stuff to sell to suport her habit. Of course, feeding, clothing and taking care of the kids was not in the mix. She often took her children shopping with her. I've got a 7 yr old who knows his Miranda rights! His 5 yr old sister remembers her mom crashed out on the sofa for days, while they went hungy. This mother lost the rights to her children, and I was fortunate enough to be able to adopt these sweet kids. They are the light of my life (with the others we've adopted, of course!).
Let's just say that had this birth mother's name been Diana Palin, she'd still have custody of her kids, and freedom.
At least my kids have a stable life. Now.

  31. Diana Palin has nothing to do with $arah and her beliefs. Some of you are being too hard on her.
If in fact, it was a meth addiction, then know that meth is THE worst drug to beat. I truly hope that rehab works for her.

As far as the justice system in Alaska, it may be that Diana had a much better lawyer. Can you check that out for us Gryphen?
And I also agree that Sherry had the book thrown at her. And I think Sherry was set up.
Too many secrets up there in Alaska. I really do hope that Levi is privvy to all of them and lets them loose once and for all. All those secrets are interferring and ruining too many lives. People should not have to live in fear because of some corrupt ex-official.

Well, at least we don't have any mandations with our recently arrived and externally introduced social unrest so as to cawl upon the feds to clamp down on the entirety of Alaska I believe, thus causing parallels between Alaska and other destablized jurisdictions that contain "all". It's pretty slick out there heathens.

  35. Say NO to Palin in Politics3:01 PM

I hope she gets help and is serious about it, that's the only way it will work.

Her hubby has filed for divorce, I'm sure he'll file for sole custody which will be good.

More facts about her behavior may come out when this goes to court, if it's not blocked from public view.

She may not have been charged for the 'other' earlier break in when more money was stolen, 2500.00, if I remember correctly.

The daughter said she remembered being at the house before. Diana said she was mixing the house up with a friends.

I hope that was checked out. almost 3,000.00 in a week is either a serious drug or gambling habit.

Regardless, it is not right that nothing stays on her record! that is BS

    btw.....who was the Judge.
