Palin mouthpiece Meg Stapleton has had enough! Update.

Stapleton said she resigned to spend more time with her husband and 2-year-old daughter, Isabella.

“While it has been an honor to help Gov. Palin and her family over the last few years, I am also honored to have this incredible opportunity to stay home with my precious miracle, Isabella,” Stapleton told POLITICO. “At 2 years old, I have missed significant moments in her life, but I look forward with great happiness to celebrating milestones as well as mundane moments with her as I refocus my priorities. I also look forward to seeing my saint-of-a-husband again, too!” (To read the rest of Politico's post just click the title.)

Wow! So Meg has FINALLY decided to get to while the getting is good huh?

“Meg has been deeply involved in all things Palin and instrumental in Sarah's many successes,” Fred Malek, a prominent Republican fundraiser and Palin friend, told POLITICO. “It’s hard to replace anyone so loyal, tireless and effective, but the Palin phenomenon will continue. Meg has surely earned the privilege to devote more time to her 2-year-old daughter, but I expect she will continue to render advice to her good friend on key issues.

It appears that Meg handed in her resignation last week.

In an e-mail to the staff last week, she wrote: “Earlier this week, I handed Governor Palin my resignation, effective the end of this month.”

No wonder nobody has spoken out about the "ruffled ear" story. Who will Palin get to be her attack poodle now?

Update: It is definitely worth noting that there is NOTHING about Meg's resignation from the Palin camp. Not on Twitter, not on Facebook, nowhere!

Not to be TOO conspiratorial here, but if Meg really notified her boss that she was leaving don't you think there would a prepared statement ready to go out the day that it was reported to the media? I mean exactly what is Sarah paying all of those consultants and ghostwriters for?

Update 2: For those speculating that "ruffled ear" baby is Meg's, you should know that Isabella was born on July 1. 2007. Doesn't work.

Update 3: It looks like there kinda...sorta...might be a response from the Palin camp about this resignation. Go down to the bottom.

I especially like this part: The source noted that the family, which takes pride in their Alaskan identity, are comfortable speaking in their own voice.

Palin is going to speak in her own voice? Well THAT should work out well for her. Oh well, that was just mean now wasn't it?

Update 4: Just in case there are some of you who may not really know and despise Meg Stapleton yet, let's take a trip in the wayback machine to October of 2008. This was in the middle of the Troopergate investigation.

Les Gara rocked didn't he?

Good for Meg! I am surprised she lasted this long with all the crazy never-ending shit the Palins put her through. Maybe now Meg can start redeeming her soul.

  2. The last line of the politico article is breathtaking:

“While I had hoped to work together on so many more projects, time with my precious 2-year-old has been further minimized with the whirlwind commitments of all things Palin,” she told the SarahPAC staff. “I have done my best to scale back, but Isabella is now resorting to hiding my BlackBerry, and she shouldn't grow up begging for a mother to start acting like a mother.”

Meg says..."While I had hoped to work together on so many more projects, time with my precious 2-year-old has been further minimized with the whirlwind commitments of all things Palin,” she told the SarahPAC staff. “I have done my best to scale back, but Isabella is now resorting to hiding my BlackBerry, and she shouldn't grow up begging for a mother to start acting like a mother."

Good for Meg. Wish SP would follow her example. SP is missing out on her baby's life too. Not to mention the other children.

  27. A very interesting development indeed! Meg's statement about "acting like a mother" says it all. But for those of us who think-- "Yeah- if only SP would get that message," remember folks, SP is mentally ill. She is not capable of responsibly and loving parenting anyone-- look at her record! I say this in an attempt to be real, not to be hurtful. Apparently Todd is a more able parent and hopefully as the whole house of cards comes down, some of the extended family (sans grandad Chuck) will lend a hand.

I suspect that Malek is the current mouthpiece because so many of SP's other handlers are disgusted with her and probably know what's coming.

Too funny . However, I will never, as in ever, forgive Meg for being part and parcel of making Sarah Palin a continual national item. Many of you may , I will not...ever. She knew what Palin was and didn't care. If she's been part of Palin's crew since 2006 then her 2 yr. old child didn't matter to her...at least not until the fire started getting hot lately. So to hell with Meg and her ,"I need to see my family"' lie. I feel nothing but contempt for anyone connected to Palin. Particularly that Meg was connected for so long. Sorry, but she was out front LYING for Palin for years. That gets no pass because many people were hurt by her and Palin's lies. No more forgiveness for lying Repubs or any politician that lies on the scale of Palin. And I don't care what anyone thinks of me for feeling like this. I'm sick of lying grifters making fortunes with the help of LYING front women like Meg in this nation while others suffer and these creeps turn their backs, laugh, feign outrage at BS and rake in the bucks.

  35. Meg needs more time to prepare for her depositions.

Speaking of depositions, I wish the best for Levi, on the grill for VF. I can't help but wonder if they were trying to throw his focus off by announcing Bristol's teen sex/pregnancy TV acting performance? That doesn't happen until next summer. Who knows she won't quit? It looks good for the moment, like she has another job and not just "working" for mommy friends.

  36. Gryphen suggested trouble between Meg and Sarah a few months ago. I guess the Rahm/Limbaugh/Family Guy issue pushed the relationship to the limit.

Did Meg simply get fed up with what was demanded of her? Did Sarah blame Meg for the negative press? (I can't imagine how horrific it would be to have Sarah pissed and screaming at me.)

It is funny that Palin couldn't take the time to publicly thank Meg for all she has done...Sarah reminds me of a person that wouldn't care about Meg's reasons for resigning and is probobly taking it real personal and plotting out some kind of sarcastic remark or action towards Meg. That is just how Sarah is.

    ReplyDelete

  42. Anonymous9:06 AM

    A few points on this:

    1) Nice to see for a change that the Palin entourage actually see the value in giving attention to a toddler, by returning to the home, rather than drag a todder into the office, business environment, public environment.

    2) A new spokeswoman/man will have to be replaced. Will she/he be able to work with Leona Helmsley...cough....oops, SarahPalin?

Well it's going to have to be a very close insider that gets the new job, otherwise me thinks no new outsider recruit could handle in good conscience working wih her. This soap opera just keeps us on our toes.

So a woman with five kids (more or less) doesn't respect the need for her assistent to spend time with HER child? Sounds to me like Scarah made her choose: the kid or me. Had Scarah really been supportive of working mothers she wouldn't have worked Meg like a dog so she had to miss time with her daughter (not that I'm defending Meg.) 49. correction re: my comment above.. should say ..."responsibly or lovingLY parenting.."

But while I'm here, I'll add another thought: Malek's comment about the "Palin phenomenon" is also very telling. For Malek, Murdock, Ailes, Cheney, et.al., Palin is a commodity called "a shiny political distraction." She is that "empty vessel" that they can use to further their own goals. These goals are usually in conflict with the interests of most people in the US and around the world. The puppet masters thought they found the perfect distraction/delicious demagogue in SP-- unfortunately their phenomenon is actually severely damaged goods. Her expiration date is approaching. I'm surprised that these "brilliant" tycoons didn't examine their investments more closely.

I also want to state I agree with others here that it is the height of bad taste that Sarah has not come out with a statement of appreciation for Meg. Even Georgie boy thanked his Press Secretary even though Scott was preparing his tell-all book at the time.

I thought this isn't that chuncky boy we've been seeing...this is a little girl...such a small head and so delicate. Ever visited a newborn baby nursery? Even the little preemie boys look masculine. (I was a newborn nursery nurse) I don't ever remember them talking about Meg having a new baby too? Perhaps it was her baby's shower? Of course, why was Levi so endearing to that baby in the kitchen..wishing it was his baby instead of the one he couldn't hold still in the hospital? The timing of Meg quitting with the outing of those pictures seem fishy to me. Just thinking....

This is about the speculation that ruffled ear baby might be Meg's baby.

Palin had a press release to announce the birth of Meg's child.

    http://www.thesourdough.com/index.php?articleID=12139&sectionID=84

Press release dated July 1, 2007 says Isabella was born on "Saturday night". July 1 was a Sunday, so this suggests the birth date was June 30, 2007. If the "kitchen baby" pictures were taken in late April/early May of 2008, wouldn't she be too old (about 10 months) to pass off as a newborn at that time?

Most frequently, when politically connected people resign for 'family reasons', the family is not the reason. Usually, it is because the s**t has hit the fan – either a personal/family scandal or a politically based scandal. And often, they use family as an excuse when they are really being fired.

So, did Meg just now learn about the switched babies? Doubt it, but perhaps now that the photographic evidence makes the story undeniable, she is unable on some emotional level to continue with the lies. Malek was in charge of Nixon's dirty tricks program, with Donald Segretti and others. Doubt that he's having a difficult time dealing with anything dirty. These are just my opinions.

Is Sarah melting down? Don't doubt that at all. Did Todd REALLY have to quit the race? Don't know, but verification would be helpful.

With Bristol possibly considering a Hollywood move, that would deprive the queen of one of her biggest props of all: a BABYSITTER!!!!! LOL, she'd have to be a real mom to Piper and Trig after all.

Can't IMAGINE the secrets Meg knows by now. And don't forget: 25,000 more emails possibly on the way.

Just like with Leona Helmsly, when the queens get older, more people are willing to talk.

What a monumental tragedy, since far more lives than Sarah's own have been seriously harmed by her.

I have wondered about the toddlers ears too, also, and mentioned it on the ruffled ears post...

Very interesting that she FINALLY quits - I thought she had done so a couple of months ago.

Also kind of curious that Malek is talking/giving her kudos, but $arah is QUIET - not a peep of 'thanks for all your great services, you will be sorely missed'. Not a peep out of her. Period. She seems to be in hiding again - Uncle Gryphen, did your post give her too much ulcers?

Meg, you HAVE missed a lot in your child's life, but the most important time comes now. Remember, she is a virtual sponge until the age of about 6 years old! So, feed that sponge intellectually all you can imagine, and then some more!

Again with the details no one asked/cared about: In an email to the staff last week, she wrote: "Earlier this week.....". These guys are so clever. Who wrote the Politico piece? This is so it doesn't look like Meg Stapleton is abandoning SP after Gryphen's eargate (love it) bombshell came out, right? To give the impression that Meg was already planning to leave and spend more time with her family, blah blah blah. It's just too obvious when they emphasize the chronology aspect like that. So lame. And no, it's not an accident that SP herself is silent on this resignation, also that there has been no apparent response to the possible multiple babies/ruffled ears revelation.

  82. Oh where to start. Well, here I go. TOO LATE Meg! I sent you an email over one year ago and advised you to get out if you had any decency or if you wanted a chance to continue to work as a political spokesperson EVER! You have lied, and lied, and lied, oh did I mention LIED, but I guess you didn't want to have to come out, face the cameras, or the Facebook pages and tell the BIG ONE, you know, about the BABY(ies)! Right? From Malek ... "anyone so loyal, tireless, and effective," and a bold-faced liar! Right, Malek? And where is Sarah? Well, she is whimpering in a corner, why Meg, why are you leaving me? I need you to (from one of the emails I read)"do the talking for me." "Give me my pills."

WTF!? No way in hell that Stapleton's resignation and Palin's latest travails are coincidental. Stapelton is ejecting before the you-know-what hits the fan.

So far anytime that someone who was formerly a Palin BFF left her circle, Palin lashed out like an emotionally wounded 13 year old. Will Palin be able to resist the VERY big temptation to throw Stapleton under the bus? I certainly hope not. Stapleton knows in which closets Palin's skeletons reside.

I'm always amused when a politician, celebrity, etc. (male OR female) says they want to spend more time with their family. I just sit back and wait for the inevitable investigation, indictment or arrest. As far as Miss Meg is concerned, the old adage "if you lie down with dogs, you're gonna get fleas" comes to mind. She closely associated herself with the Palins, had to know what they were, and yet continued to put herself in front of them, lying her keester off for them. I sure don't feel all warm and fuzzy about her, just because she's quitting to spend time with her 2-year-old. Why now? John McCain is guilty for bring Saracuda to the forefront, but Meg is guilty of keeping her there for lying about her and defending her.

As far as this being a hint to Queenie to spend more time with her kids, I think her kids are probably better off without the unstable, self-centered wackiness that is Sarah.

And is there ANY way someone can check on Meg's toddler's ears? Did Meg ever bring her to work? Are there any photos?

Palin & 'Staples' can never just
say something normally. If it's in any way associated with Sarah it can
only be referred to as, 'incredible,'
    'iconic,' a phenonenom,' a cause
to be 'celebtated,' 'a saint,' a
'precious miracle,' a 'real' American, & on & on...

How about a simple straightforward statement like this, Meg:
'I appreciate working with Sarah over these past years and the many memorable experiences we've shared,
but it's time for me to concentrate
on family life and spend more time with my daughter.' Thank-you.

(BTW, I have 4 sons myself for whom I would die for, & of course they're
my precious miracles & we think they're incredible, but I don't
go around spouting off like my head
is up in the clouds. A REAL Mom just
gets on with actually raising her
kids & being there for them. Not just
talking to the media about it.

Interesting Sarah isn't too keen on spending much time with her 'iconic,'
    'precious,''blessing,''incredible,
    'miracle,' child or children.

  99. I've been thinking over Fred Malek being the one to put out a statement instead of Sarah. I think Meg is just Sarah's cup of tea--reactive and belligerant. I think Malek is trying to reshape Sarah P's image by eliminating Meg. Sarah has ambitions and if Fred tells her to get rid of Meg she'll do it but probably would want to distance herself a little from the ugly deed. In fact, Sarah's not making a statement herself, is like adding to the injury.

To my mind, the more damning statement comes from Fred Malek, who says: "but the Palin phenomenon will continue. Meg has surely earned the privilege to devote more time to her 2-year-old daughter...."

I don't recall a Palin insider having actually used the phrase Palin phenomenon until now--thus blatantly acknowledging that she's just a marketable commodity. Something we've all known since day one ;-).

Then Malek goes on to say that Meg has "surely earned the privilege" to be a full-time mother. WTF? I'm no defender of Stapleton, and I absolutely agree with comments made earlier in this thread about her being the most visible Palin enabler from the beginning. Yet Malek's tone of noblesse oblige is way too much; it implies that Stapleton has gone above and beyond her duty in servitude to the Queen.

Malek has gone, devastatingly, to the heart of the mindset of Palin's minions: Their highest purpose is to serve her (or, in other words, to encourage and profit from the Palin phenomenon). I'm wondering also too: Have we gotten a glimpse at the true power behind the throne?

  114. During 2009, SarahPAC paid Meg/Izzylene $92,450 in salary and reimbursed expenses to Meg and Eric Steenburgh (husband) totalling $16,854.

SarahPAC did not pay Meg/Izzlene in December. It appears that she was drawing a salary of $10,000 per month. Thus, for Dec, Jan, and Feb Meg/Izzylene would be due at least $30,000 in salary.

For her 13 months employment by SarahPAC, Meg/Izzylene earned $122,450. It is unknown if there were any expenses due or paid to her.

Could anyone pay you enough money to put up with all things Palin? I didn't think so.

One interesting note, SarahPAC did not pay any insurance premiums during 2009. I have reviewed PAC expenditures from prominent GOPers and some have purchased health insurance for staffers. I hope Saint Eric has health insurance, cause mental health care ain't cheap.

None of the PACS that I have studied have spent anywhere near the amount of money on political consultants, media consultants and lawyers. The SarahPAC piggybank is open to opportunists.

Sarah, has spending $700,000 or 32%of your donor money on consultants helped you much?

Last thought on this (for now), Sarah would never lower herself to wish a quitter good luck and to thank a quitter for her dedicated service. NO ONE quits on the queen of quitters. She will fire your ass, but you dare not quit.

If she were to do anything, I wish she would go to the appropriate authorities with information. If she did so now, she could probably work out a deal for immunity. Meg Stapleton said good by to journalism when she began working for Sarah. I was ashamed of her behavior toward Les Gara. Watching their exchange after the election I became aware she lost all connection with her previous profession. She should be ashamed.
On another topic: Jacqueline Kennedy had a premature baby that died. His name was Patrick and he was five and a half weeks premature. Granted the ability to save preemies has come a long way in all these years, but the baby at that stage of development remains the same. I am convinced Sarah Palin decided to let God decide the fate of her little boy when she left on the wild ride. There was no concern for anyone else but herself in making that decision - her baby, her physician or the passengers on that plane.

They were WAY behind (hours) and the track was mostly dirt (not snow). I am married to a racer (NOT irondog). I have seen him quit in the middle of a race when he has no chance of placing - saves the car, and saves face too.
Previous winners hate coming in toward the back of the pack.

Most physical therapists, whether single practitioners or working in groups, provide Rx pads citing their particular services for physicians who then fill in the modalities they want their patients to undergo. It is like a to-go menu of services that restaurants pass out for home or office use. All PT's do PT and most restaurants have sandwiches, but having Rx/menu pads of their own allow these businesses to state the different services available from both. In summary, I don't think Rx pads are a side business of Eric's, rather his list of services available for order by doctors.

Meg Stapleton....you can go to hell and back for what you did to the management of Matanuska Maid Dairy and also Walt Monegan. You KNOW you told despicable lies. The staged ambush on Mat Maid was a scene right out of "West Wing". Two national authors know the truth and are writing about it.

Your filmed episode with Les Gara will also come to roost. Walt Monegan, as you well KNOW, is an honorable man and did not deserve what YOU did to him You sicken me.

Just as a reminder....KARMA is a bitch and it is headed YOUR way, you worthless piece of crap.

  164. "Any professional has to be judged by success, and by any measure, Team Palin has been an enormous success," Malek told CNN. "As Governor Palin's principle aide during this awesome rise, she has been a one woman band and deserves much credit and admiration." A ONE WOMAN BAND??! AWESOME RISE? ENORMOUS SUCCESS? NOT. This is ridiculous. And from the article on CNN (yes, I went over on a link, yuk, hate CNN) "a global political celebrity whose every word is analyzed..." She is a global clown!

Did Meg have enough or did FOX advise Sarah that Meg is small potatoes and need someone more polished?

If Bristol takes over for Meg then we know FOX had nothing to do with it.

    re:prescription pads for doctors!
Thats beyond strange to me. Wonder if it is code for something more nefarious? Prescription pads are really specialty items now with watermarks and tamperproof features. Also they are going by the wayside in many practices, replaced with electronic scripts faxed right to point of care be it pharmacy, therapy, hospital.
Could just be a benign side business - a home care agency i worked for as a nursing supervisor had a med supply company as well. But with Wasilla being so drug infested, this raises my eyebrows.

"Sarah" just posted something re: health care on her FaceBook page...not a single mention of MS leaving. On the bright side..had to share this comment one of her "fans" left her...

Sarah, did you really write this yourself? Congrats! When you speak in public it usually comes out as garbled gibberish, like you're stupid or something. But this is crisp, well-organized and syntactically immaculate. You rock!!!

A menu of services offered by the pt/ot office is one thing.Prescrition pads have to have the doctors name on them. So, you mean he supplies scripts for specific doctors with PT/OT services already on them that his company provides?
I guess it is a good marketing tool, if that is what they do.

  173. Am I imagining things, or did Gryphen have a post up several weeks ago that there was a female "close to Palin" that was very upset and near breaking point?

Some speculated on that thread that Gryphen was talking about Meg.

I would love to read that post again, but don't know where to find it.

Constant scandals and head-spinning, hard to keep up - which is what SP is counting on.

I am feeling a need to prioritize the issues:

CBJ and unwillingness to say she delivered Trig - and brought her attorney to ADN interview. Phil M. says CBJ should clear her name - I agree.

Baby in kitchen and at staged baby shower NOT the Trig we see now - WHY?

    Recently-released e-mails per FOIA
show Todd was acting as governor.

Cabins on property when Palins put zero value for improvements - hid from taxman that structures even existed.

Housegate - who built the house?
AK Fund Trust - where are promised quarterly reports?

Head spinning - shiny new scandals every day to take away our focus.

Why should Palin pay Meg for her services, when she can get Piper to do it gratis?

Besides, Piper can microwave dinner, look after Tri-G and clip her ladyship's toenails.

Meg always whined when she had to do the toenails.

Many of us remember the days when Meg was charming, respected and a favored voice in broadcasting. I fear more of us will remember Meg as the vindictive, callous, shrill, deceitful little person with eyes flashing, spewing hate once her association with sp began to overtake the old Meg. I will never, ever forgive her for the horrendous attack on Walt Monegan, a respected, respectful, decent man. When she has the decency to publicly, and privately, apologize to Walt, his mother, his wife and family, my heart may begin to soften toward her, but I'm not sitting here holding my breath. Next, she can apologize to Levi for her attacks on this 19 year old young man fighting to be able to parent his child while she's just noticing she has a child of her own with an absent parent. Time lost with a child can never be replaced, Meg, I just hope it was all worth it to you and you really take it seriously, stay close to home, spend every moment you can with your precious child and be grateful she's still there for you to parent. And, yes, your "saint of a husband" who has stayed back to hold the fort, parent your daughter and, possibly, know the extent of the trail of broken spirits left under "The Bus" and your involvement with same. Hopefully, time will heal. I just hope you can, one day, come close to the sweet and beloved Meg that was......

I have not had time to read all these posts yet, but are we SURE that the ruffled ear baby is male? When did Meg have her baby? What do her child's ears look like? Could that have been the "borrowed" baby?

comment from cesspool throwing Meg under bus already:
    wisetrog
"Let's also not forget that meg was out of depth during the Rush Limbaugh retard quote fracas. A better handler would have pointed to the media that Rush was a private citizen while Rahm was not. She wouldn't post an asinine quote and then run around trees to get Rush's number to pacify him. You don't take the wind out of Palin's sails that way and you don't put her on the line like that."

They have always idolized Meg (saps) - and now Meg "took the wind out of Palin's sails?"

    ReplyDelete
  185. Meg chose to sacrifice the first two crucial years of her child's life on the altar of Palin's pathological narcissism. If she ever does fully comprehend what she's done, it will be a cruel realization and one she has only herself to blame for.

On the other hand, I cannot wait for Palin to start 'speaking in her own voice!' If her tweets are any indication, it should be wonderfully--and accidentally--entertaining.

It's fine to abandon your family to be the mouthpiece for all things dysfunctional. Meg, those two years you missed with Isabella, all the money in the world won't get them back.

I do like the digs at the Palin clan, though. I'd buy your book if you were more honest about Sarah.

I have a question about the "first" photos with the Heaths and Sarah & Todd, where Trig (or "Trig"?) seems to be sound asleep.

I remember taking cute pictures of my daughters when they were asleep, as pictures of sleeping babies. But I don't remember holding up a sleeping baby for the first photographs of the baby with important relatives.

In a picture like that, I'd expect an awake baby, with eye contact.

Is it just that Sarah doesn't appear to mind babies being quiet and sedate/sedated, as the photos of Trig at many early gatherings seems to show?

Meg has fouled her nest in Alaska and there is nowhere left for this shrew (maybe "rat" is the better word) to go. Good riddance. Just sit down and shut up. We pray that you don't pass on your corrupt character and vicious tongue to your poor, innocent daughter who now must spend more time with you.
