Active duty Marine has some words of advice for those Teabaggers calling for a revolution. Updated!

Please read this article and then send it to any of your friends or family who are Teabaggers or talking about overthrowing the "Obama-nation" or starting a revolution.

For those of you calling for a civil war, I implore you to stop and think about what you're saying. Look around your neighborhood and your city. Now imagine using that terrain to survive. Imagine dodging semi-automatic rifle fire as you scramble from cover to cover, dragging your wounded child behind you. Imagine the deafening report of a mortar as it strikes the ground a 150 feet in front of you, the overpressure enough to shatter your teeth and perforate an ear drum. Try and envision a Stryker rolling through neighbor's front lawn or a F/A-18 making lazy loops over your head in Close Air Support for the troops in the distance.

Now I 'd like to disperse a myth here - many of you think that US military would not fight civilians. I can't speak for all, but in my case - the moment you declare civil war, you're no longer civilians. The moment you attack the constitution, you're now enemies of that constitution. And I swore to defend and support and if necessary give my life for that Constitution and utilize every tool, technique, and weapon at my disposal to do so. And trust me, I'm not alone.

Update:  For some reason the marine's letter was taken down.  You can still read it here. I am interested as to why the origianl post was removed.

Update 2:  Here is the Marine's rewritteen post after he and his family were theatened. Now somebody please tell me again that the Teabaggers are simply partiotic Americans expressing their opinions peacefully.

Is it not Obama and his minions who are attempting to overthrow the country's constitution? The tea partyers I know believe in it wholly and like every sane, respectful person, thinks Obama is a despicable human being for being so malignant and deceitful. Good article nonetheless

While I applaud the Marine's patriotic motivations in writing his letter, the prospect of a civil war is unrealistic in the extreme.

There may be a few nuts who would take up arms against our government but the vast majority of those people who are screeching about "civil war" wouldn't give up their quality time with their Lazy-Boy recliners in front of the TV to do any real scrambling around fighting guerilla warfare. Hell, most of the Baggers are overweight, old folks on Social Security and Medicare already....and we know that they don't want "their" SS and Medicare programs touched.

I'm not saying it's not a dangerous mood out there but realistically the danger involves possible sporadic and isolated spasms of violence by a few nuts, not an organized rebellion.

The VAST majority of people in this country would approve and support the government coming down hard on any nuts who use guns instead of the ballot box to force social change. Period. End of story.

I remember an appearance that McCain made on The View during the 2008 presidential campaign. He said that he wanted his country to return to the vision pictured by our founding fathers. Whoppie Golberg didn't miss a beat and said to McCain, "Does that mean that I have to go back and be a slave?" Joy Behar weighed in reminding him that women would not be allowed to vote, and only free men who owned property would vote. Was that the American he was talking about?

The answer is Of Course Not, or as Biker Sarah said, Hell, No it's not. They just say stuff to rally the troops, rev up the crowd and hope that it is carried in the media. Michele Bachman claimed that prior to 2008, our economy was 100% private. (So much for all that money we wasted spending it on military hardware for a senseless war in Iraq).

They just say stuff, and we have to thank this guy for explaining what the threat of civil war (and treason) is all about. The problem is that they are talking to a low-information crowd who are easily provoked into throwing bricks in adition to their insults. If they ramp up the violence, they will kill their own chances of winning national office.

Problem is you can't see beyond your nose. Everything that he's trying to do and have done is why he was Elected. He's not changing course and becoming a radical. We the majority voted him in for change. The only time we get mad at him is when he lays out an olive branch to Republicans. We know that there can never be Bi-partisanship with that crowd of haters in DC. So you don't like it. Too Bad! You lost. Deal with it! There will be other elections and your side God help us will someday be in power again. You will then have all the chances in the world to fuck things up again. As far as the constitution it's not our side trying to take Thomas Jefferson out as the one who wrote it. Please read it for yourself and not let someone else tell you what it says. Read you can do it!

    @ anonymous 7:42 PM

Here's what you and your like-minded friends can't seem to get through your thick skulls:

President Obama and "his minions" were duly and lawfully elected by the majority of the voters because they support their policies. If the voters decide they don't want to have PO and the Dems in leadership positions in the upcoming elections, they will vote them out. Nothing sinister or scary about the Democratic process....."Government of the people, by the people, for the people." The sad thing is that you have demonized PO and his tens of millions of supporters so thoroughly that in your mind they don't even represent "people" anymore. Apparently there is only room in this country for "you and your people."

I think you will be surprised and disappointed when you finally have to come to grips with the fact that your "sane, respectful" friends who think PO is "malignant and deceitful" are actually a small minority in our great country.

Everyone learns at their own pace but it's a pity there are folks who have to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st Century. You're one of them, pal.

  8. Anonymous @ 7:42 PM (and what else WOULD you be, with an uninformed opinion like that?),

The short answer is No. Or perhaps in terms you can better understand, HELL NO!

I don't know if you listen to any one else other than the talking heads at Fox "News", but regarding who's a better guardian of our Constitution, I put a lot more trust in a law professor and constitutional scholar than a handful of fat, well-paid meagerly educated actors with glib and sleazy gifts of gab that's earned them a TV time slot.

Oh, why bother? It's obvious you hang on their every word, and believe them with not an iota of intellectual curiosity.

I have first hand knowledge of conservatives who have been sounding the armed revolution BS ever since Obama won the Democratic nomination. Some have bought weapons, bought extra ammo, joined the NRA, and planted huge gardens, just in case there was a need. These people seem excited by the prospect. People who say Obama is attempting to overthrow the constitution were in a tizzy before he actually did anything. It's racism in many cases...and yes, I know this first hand, too.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I agree @8:46. Well said.

I still don't understand when Teabaggers, Palin, and other Republicans say this administration is ignoring the "will of the people" by passing reform. Obama ran on that platform and he was elected in a landslide! Is this bill perfect? No, but it HAS to start somewhere and what was passed is an excellent start. As far as I am concerned, this administration is NOT ignoring MY will- it is doing EXACTLY what I elected it to do.

    Anon @ 7:42,
If you truly believe that “Obama and his minions who are attempting to overthrow the country's constitution” and that “Obama is a despicable human being for being so malignant and deceitful” then you most definitely are NOT a “sane, respectful person.” You are a delusional moron, and I very much suspect a racist. Please, enumerate for me examples of President Obama’s “malignancy” or “deceit.” I hear you teabagger imbeciles toss out phrases like that without ever hearing specifics. When you assholes talk about “taking our country back” what you really mean is “we’re pissed because we lost an election and we’ll never accept a black president.”

If you believe that President Obama is not a U. S. citizen, then you are a moron. If you believe that President Obama is Muslim, then you are a moron. If you believe that President Obama is a socialist/communist/Marxist/or whatever-the-hell-else-ist, then you are a moron. If you believe that President Obama is usurping the Constitution in any way, then you are a moron.

Unless you can cite actual crimes that President Obama and the Democratic Party have committed, SHUT THE FUCK UP! You and your imbecilic teabagger tribe of inbred cousin fucks are an embarrassment to the rest of us. You wallow and revel in your abject obdurate ignorance. Just because your team lost an election does not mean that the Constitution is being overthrown. It simply means that you are an extremely sore loser and a profound simpleton who is incapable of reasoned thought.

You and your teabagger pals are utter buffoons who eagerly lap up the constant diarrheic barrage that FauxNews, Limbaugh, et al., spew your direction. You have willingly ceded control of your tiny little minds to them and you are incapable of exercising the most basic of independent thought. You WILL NOT shape the direction of this country. YOU ARE OUTNUMBERED, oh, something along the order of about 20 to 1. And I’ve got news for you: the rest of us are SICK AND FUCKING TIRED OF LISTENING TO YOUR IGNORANT, BIGOTED, RACIST BULLSHIT!

If you want to grow up and act like a civil adult, fine, we will welcome you back into the fold. I would be glad to hear your opinion as long as it is not the insane conspiracy driven bullshit that typifies EVERYTHING that comes out of teabaggers. I suggest you read something that ISN’T written by a conservative. Likewise, listen to something other than FauxNews and Limbaugh. Honestly, if you are convinced in the virtues of conservatism, they why are you so scared of thought and ideas that do not conform to your insular, idiotic narrative? Do these things, then we’ll talk. Until then, sit down and STFU!

Let’s get real about the “civil war” hot air being expended. The goobers talkin’ this imbecilic smack are ALL fat, pasty, soft, flaccid, middle aged/old white guy Rambo wannabes who would piss their pants the first time they came under fire. They are all piss and vinegar when the war is nothing but talk. These teabagger militia morons are operationally insignificant when it comes to military action. They might be able to shoot someone in the back, but they are not a viable threat to our military or to the Constitution.

The very first militia group that makes an actual attack of any kind on our nation will be crushed so fast and so completely that every other bunch of would be rebels will think long and hard before trying anything else. They all talk real big, but damn few of them actually want to die.

I am quite happy to know that Sgt. C has our back and takes very seriously his oath to defend the Constitution. I have no doubt at all that the vast majority of patriotic men and women serving in uniform feel very much like Sgt. C. These soldiers will make short work of any domestic terrorists who would try to harm our country.

I say to Sgt. C, that as a loyal American who also believes in the Constitution that I, and hundreds of millions of other loyal citizens will also be there to support you. Loyal patriotic citizens have defended and maintained the Constitution throughout our nation’s history and together we will continue to do so. Thank you Sgt., and all whom serve alongside you and God bless.

Gryphen, thanks so much for including Sgt. C.'s excellent open letter to those ignorant stooges who are talking "civil war" nonsense. His whole post was incredible and the vast majority of comments are extremely interesting and supportive of his position.

It's about time someone in the military forcefully explained to the rabble-rousers that the US military is NOT the sole property of these right-wing extremist nuts!!!!

Palin loves to invoke the military as her personal patriotic buttress for her sh*t-stirring drivel!!! I'm damn sick and tired of her and her ilk with their presumptuous attitude that they have an exclusive patriotic pact or solidarity with the military!

The US military exists to protect EVERYONE'S rights according to the constitution, including liberal viewpoints. So, for those stupid enough to think of taking their guns out against this government and her people, just remember that the US military will deal swiftly and harshly with you as the domestic terrorists that you really are! You lost a f*cking election, for pete's sake! Deal with it!

The Sgt. makes excellent points in his article. I hope that the talk of armed revolt is just talk; all it takes is one nut with a gun; as we've seen far too many times in this country. I hope we are all realistic about where the rhetoric of violence can take us.

I spend a fair amount of time on right wing websites and find that most of the 'discussion' regarding the Constitution and US History is based on regurgitated half-truths and, sorry, ignorant 'interpretations' created and promoted by a few websites (WorldNutDaily comes to mind) that go viral and are repeated so frequently that people begin to accept this stuff as truth.

And I do understand that the Constitution and any reading of US History allows for interpretation - but I'm talking irresponsibly presented propaganda. There is no other word for it.

I also disagreed with Bush and felt his administration was undermining the Constitution with the wiretapping, parts of the Patriot Act and the deliberate infiltration and take over of the Justice Department by the hiring of inexperienced lawyers from religion-based law schools.

But I trusted the Constitution and our system of government to eventually iron these things out. That's right, I TRUST and REVERE the Constitution and have enough grasp of American and World history to understand and appreciate just how sturdy our system of governing is, unlike a lot of both left wing and right wing nuts.

It means that throughout any American's lifetime you will have a government from time to time that you disagree with, that you even find alarming in its direction. And so, you USE the SYSTEM as it is intended and speak out and vote out.

Democracy is noisy, messy and often upsetting. That's how real freedom works.

The very idea that we are in any way even close to a radical change in our government is absurd on its face, which these people would know if they really knew their history. There is no comparison to the decades long oppression wreaked by the British on its subjects in the Colonies that was sustained for generations.

Ironically, the right wingers are imitating the very people they criticize - they are becoming just like the Bill Ayers and the violent radicals of the 60s they despise who, just like them, thought our country had gone down the tubes and violence was the only answer.

I think that if you want any respect, it might behoove you to stop using the term "teabagger". It is just as offensive as the "N" word and if you object to that, you should also object to the other.

In any case, I think that the "so called" marine is just trying to cause a problem where there is none.

As far as Obama winning by a landslide 6% does not a landslide make. If you think it does, then there is an even bigger "landslide" of Americans who did not want Obamacare and yet the wishes of those people were disregarded.

Gasman, absolutely! I mentioned a few threads back how the Fleabaggers will be NO match to military might should something happen somewhere in the country and martial law be imposed for the safety of the sane among us. Unfortunately, this may happen and may HAVE to happen to quiet things down. First time a Bagger group is defeated, the same followers who are spouting "Brown or Browning" will be running for the hills, or for the safety of their homemade bunkers.

An aquaintance of ours told me he's "arming up" for the "revolution" and we (hubs and I) should do the same. I explained to him what I mentioned above and he looked at me as if I was insane. They're being instilled with a blind, irrational fearlessness that's frightening.

When Mistress Sarah says "Reload" she doesn't give a shit--it's very easy for someone who has security and the financial means to "get out of Dodge" to rile the sheeple up, and then disappear.

One of my husbands best sayings when dealing with disrespectful employees is that even if you disagree with or do not like the person who is in charge, respect the position if not the man/woman.This country will continue to be on the edge as long as we have our political celebreties Mrs Paylin ,McCain, etc talking about "Obama" ,"Nobama"etc. It should be remembered that the title is "President Obama". Adults today are disrespectful and rude, and children are being raised that way.
Last night I took my grandson to the store with me,a small grocery store in a mostly black neigborhood near my drugstore. When we checked out(its a bag your own groceries place) ,my grandson offered to bag the items for an elderly lady in front of us(who happened to be black). She was totally flabbergasted. He told her "my Grandma says its the right thing to do".She smiled and thanked him.We had an audience of people watching.Funny how such a small thing can be so important!!

As for Mrs Paylin, has she been assimilated by the Borg?
