I know you are going to find this hard to believe but Eric Cantor lied about bullets fired into his campaign office.

Remember when Republican Whip Eric Cantor came out to talk about the growing violence against the Democrats who voted for the Health Care bill, and said the following?

"Oh that is terrible!" the news media said.

"I guess it IS happening on both sides", they said.

"Oh bullshit!",  I said.  I never believed his lying ass for a minute.  Well guess who was right.

From the Richmond police, by way of the Plum Line.

The Richmond Police Department is investigating an act of vandalism at the Reagan Building, 25 E. Main St., Richmond, Virginia. A first floor window was struck by a bullet at approximately 1 a.m. on Tuesday, March 23. The building, which has several tenants including an office used by Congressman Eric Cantor, was unoccupied at the time.

A Richmond Police detective was assigned to the case. A preliminary investigation shows that a bullet was fired into the air and struck the window in a downward direction, landing on the floor about a foot from the window. The round struck with enough force to break the windowpane but did not penetrate the window blinds. There was no other damage to the room, which is used occasionally for meetings by the congressman.

The Richmond Police Department is sharing information about the incident with appropriate law enforcement agencies.

At this time there are no suspects.

So in order to make the point that BOTH SIDES are engaging in dangerous rhetoric Eric Cantor has to completely misrepresent an accident as an act of aggression against his campaign office.

That, my friend, is what is referred to as an EPIC FAIL.  The Republicans, Sarah Palin, and their Teabagger buddies are the ones inciting violence, NOT the Democrats.

Oh and by the way, if in fact Cantor WAS threatened due to his Jewish heritage (Which I seriously doubt now), I would bet everything I have that it did NOT come from a liberal.

We love the Jews.

It's assholes we don't like.

Sigh. Looks like I'll have to place another (rational, even-tempered) call to Cantor's office to register my disappointment at this incident (he's my rep.). With Cantor and Cuccinelli steering the ship these days, it's going to be a rocky journey.

Carnahan admitted the coffin was on the street, not his lawn, and that it was taken away.

Cleaver now says someone 'caused spittle to land on his face' which means he got a little too close to someone yelling at him. He is no longer claiming anyone was arrested.

Frank and Clyburn both say that slurs were hurled at them but despite crowds of media and dozens of cell phones, no audio exists. In fact, all the audio that has been found shows nothing.

The libe.....accuse me, progressives, are trying to shift attention away from this horribly unpopular health care FrankenBill.

My sympathies to Anonymous 3:54p.m. who is a constituent of Eric Cantor.

I thought I had bad luck with Brownback and Roberts as our Senators. I have to say, having Cantor just as your Representative takes the prize. Sorry. I hope you can oust him in the fall.

Gryphen - I really liked your last two sentences. That is exactly right - a person's faith or ethnic background doesn't matter (unless someone is a Dominionist), it's whether or not they are assholes. I would assuming that telling lies is a subset of asshole-ism right?

I expect Cantor to keep in character and to lie.

There are people who are getting ready to move to Alaska for the end times. If this TLC fake documentary-style reality series is a hit for the tourist industry in Alaska and progressing new Sarah like citizens, it will be a win for them all. They need to sell their farce now b/c Alaska will soon enough be a more noticible trash dump. The rich can always live in luxury but the poor slave class and what was once middle class will need more of Wasilla's meth and oxy to get by. In 5 years how will that trust fundy dill be working out? As it is now, what teen wouldn't want another snow machine? They can use their fund cash to continue polluting. It's all about the moment, "stay positive" and "have fun" they are told and it will all be fine.

As noted, Palin on Dead Lake pretending to be pristine is the perfect metaphor. When Alaska goes down, so will the rest of the world. It is sad the USA can't handle their own vile, it will take other countries to step up if we stay on this self destructive journey. I will never buy Alaskan salmon again and it was a frequent fav for years. I'd rather travel to Iceland and Patagonia now. Alaska was breathtakingly beautiful but now we know the lies and dastardly deeds they are perpetrating.

Thanks, but no thanksTLC and Alaska
Alaska as “the most fascinating state, with the most fascinating statesperson,” shows sweeping views of the state, and even mentions that Alaska “is two miles from Russia.”
Palin will participate in the show and present stories about Alaska’s quirky denizens and traditions like the Iditarod.

If you look up the address, there are several other campaign offices at the address, and two or three consultants...It's interesting to see that the minority whip, btw, shares office space with campaign consultants...The police aren't saying this is his office, just that's it's in a building where the office is...

Plus it should be noted that he was apparently uncertain when it happened. Would your boss be so unaware of a "shooting" in your office, even if he/she were off-site?????

They will forever be know as the Party of H8 and domestic terrorists. It's ironic that Palin in just a few short years has come from accusing Obama of palling around with domestic terrorists to her being the one who pals around and incites domestic terrorists.

If the bullet could not even penetrate the blinds, then it was not fired from anywhere near the window. Depending of the nature of the bullet and the weapon that could be up to several hundred yards to a mile or more and it would shatter the window and the blind and end up buried in the wall somewhere.

I suppose the shell could have been jury-rigged and fired from a
CO2 pistol or rifle, so would have less force, and also be deliberately aimed at the window.
That seems unlikely if the shooter was angry, but might be very likely if the incident was faked.

Please people, don't say bad things about Alaska or the people there (except one or three): if it had not been for the Alaskan bloggers, Gryph, Mudflats, and Shannyn especially, I would not have made it through the last year and one half (campaign, election, and post-election); Alaska is not bad, all the people are not evil (excepting one or three - you know of whom I speak)! Notice how carefully Cantor parsed his initial claim:
“A bullet was shot through the window of my campaign office in Richmond this week AND I have received threatening e-mails.”

Note, he doesn’t ever actually come out and say they are connected, he doesn’t even say WHEN he received these threatening e-mails. How much you want to bet he never produces them? He is toeing that line of making a demonstrably untrue statement about alleged crimes. He is nothing more than a typical lying sack of Republican shit.

I hope the Dems put Cantor's balls in a vise on this one. He is abusing his authority as a sitting member of the House of Representatives to knowingly mislead not just the public but law enforcement as well. It would be just peachy if the FBI wasn't as impressed with his parsing of the truth as the press has been.

Palin makes me sick. She started stirring this stuff up in 2008 and hasn't stopped. She was in TX today and tried to walk back the violence but still said "don't retreat, reload.".

Gasman's review of this farce is spot-on. Of course Cantor's got a thick skin and just seems to mention his faith in passing. Not in a New York minute did I believe him. Convenient that the vandalism and threats are bipartisan now, and it's the Dems that are politicizing it. Guess the fire Pelosi website with the flames is just a figment of our imagination as well?

TPM also called him out on it.

I thought Cantor's claim was bogus as well, especially when I first heard his press briefing. From his juvenile vocal inflection it was as if he were implying: "Me too--me too! The Dems are just as responsible for hateful behavior as the Teabaggers--no, even more! Nyah, nyah!"

BTW, it was brought up yesterday that Mr. Cantor, with his Jewish heritage, NEVER ONCE came out in protest of the Teabaggers' usage of horrifying Hitler, Nazi and Holocaust imagery in their manufactured protest signs. Is he being ordered to look the other way, or is this acceptable because it's a Bagger meme against the President? Hmmm.

  37. It would be great to hear Cantor or any politician stand up and give corrected accurate information.
Yesterday we have a response from the majority Repubs to counter an attack the other side is politicizing and diminish incidents. Evidently Palin's rhetoric and map targeting people with cross hairs is acceptable also for her map still stands.

Reading well thought out comments to petition Discovery re: their choice of Palin gives me faith and hope in America that the majority of people are civilized, rational and decent and take a stand against lies for fear and hate mongering, terrorizing people for power, against illiteracy and con artists, perpetrators of violence.

Hearing the phone call from a women enraged and hysterical thretening a congressman on the basis she won't be able to keep her insurane or her doctor is a cler example of violence stemming from repub lies. Even an active effort to inform people of fact Sarah Palin will brainwash people truth is "lies" to her followers and they seem to get more violent the longer she is allowed to run her distortion campaign.

Her supporters suffer delusions, beliefs they have that no matter facts and truth given to them are rejected. The GOP has chosen to follow and do nothing while Palin destroys the fabric of democracy inciting hatred and violence THEN she dismisses it! She uses that to attack MSM. She is pathalogical.

About Cantor's "bullet" - From CNN Web site

Lawmaker's office struck by 'random gunfire'
    Posted: March 26th, 2010 10:00 AM ET
(CNN) - A bullet that landed in the office of House Minority Whip Eric Cantor was the result of "random gunfire," police in Richmond, Virginia said Friday.

Cantor, the No. 2 Republican in the House of Representatives, told reporters Thursday that a bullet was shot through a window at his campaign office in Richmond, Virginia. He also said he had received threatening messages.

In a news release Thursday, police said the bullet struck at about 1 a.m. on Tuesday. The preliminary investigation showed that "a bullet was fired into the air and struck the window in a downward direction, landing on the floor about a foot from the window. The round struck with enough force to break the windowpane but did not penetrate the window blinds. There was no other damage to the room, which is used occasionally for meetings by the congressman."

The building, which has several tenants including an office used by Cantor, was unoccupied at the time, the news release said.

Richmond police spokesman Gene Lepley told CNN Friday that it was the result of "random gunfire."

Gryphen: You need to see at C4P a video they made "Quit Makin things Up. They cherry picked sound bites of Cantor, Boehner, Palin and Beck saying violence is not an answer.
Therefore we are to conclude we have "made up" incidents of violence and the rhetoric and lies (remeber death panels..kill grandma and Trig?)..we made it up and no one was angry or threatened violence. They provided a sound bite of Obama as proof he owns the violence.

I conclude Palin supporters are ok with targets and crosshairs..very sick.

I think the Republicans are the biggest bunch of babies. They were out in front of the Capitol deliberately trying to intimidate Democratic lawmakers. People WERE indeed handcuffed and detained by the Capitol police on Saturday, but the individuals involved declined to press charges. They did what Jesus advised, and turned the other cheek. Now that they've been called out for their bully tactics, the teabaggers are playing victim and making excuses. My favorite is the one about "well, why did they dare to just walk through the group of protesters? They were egging it on and got what they deserved." Yeah, just like a woman who is raped "deserved" it for being on the wrong end of town or wearing the wrong clothing. Anon at 4:13, you aren't fooling anyone with your "waah, we're the victims" baby routine. That is what 7th grade schoolyard bullies do when called out or stood up to.
