McCain and Palin together again! Because some people are just slow learners.

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Actually I am very interested in whether Palin will have any effect one way or the other.  And if she does, will it be positive or negative?

  1. I don't understand why anyone would vote for McCain. Didn't he just announce that he wasn't going to do ANY legislative work (but still collect that nice paycheck and all the benefits of being a Senator).

I hope someone gets arrested at their rally. That's the sort of attention they deserve. Both of them are so ridiculously out of touch.

mccain is so technologically inept that he's not aware that the tv machine broadcasts to millions of people, so it's not just the person he's speaking to in the room that's hearing his bogus promises or secret intentions. duh ...I want to see him wander around aimlessly again. I don't get why anyone would vote him back in either...he doesn't want to work...I "heard" him.

I just read this on another site and wanted to share:

    "Kevin wrote:

How much longer will the media continue to extend Sarah Palin's 15 minutes of fame. Thanks to John McCain and his absolute self-serving rationale ("Country First, right Mr. McCain?") for adding her to his presidential ticket do we have to continue to endure the Palin saga. This woman was the mayor of a two bit town in Alaska, got elected governor and than bailed after two years of her four year term and walked away from the people she was elected to represent. Her rationale for leaving was to spend more time with her family but she has done nothing but barn storm the country trying to sell a book that offers no substance and now a TV show. Please, ENOUGH!!"

How far the mighty have fallen. John McCain - you old fool - stay down. Imagine, a few short years ago he was a STAR who brought along an UNKNOWN to be his running mate. How the tables have turned, John McCain now NEEDS Sarah Palin's support as Queen TeaBagger to be able to run for his senate seat. Too funny. I wonder if he'll be able to control the wincing when the now crazier crazies start shouting out or asking even more dangerous questions. Why doesn't he just retire -- maybe Cindy doesn't want him around either.

I'm listening to the news right now and I heard the news anchor state, re SP's stumping for McCain in Arizona this weekend that: McCain is up against a tough opponent in Hayworth in the battle for his Senate seat...and then the anchor puzzles out loud over the fact that Palin is pretty much the accepted leader of the Tea Party movement, but the Tea Party doesn't support McCain; Hayworth, however, fits more into the Tea Party mold, but Palin's not supporting him(!?). Poor puppy sounds confused by this. Then I heard him say: "McCain is in trouble with his re-election--HE NEEDS SARAH PALIN'S HELP TO GET HIM RE-ELECTED (that's got to burn!) HAHAHAHA! Good luck with that OLD MAN! Shouldn't he realize by now that she is the kiss of death? He is really a slow learner.
Whether McCain wins or loses, Palin comes out a winner, and I wouldn't be surprised if she took a sort of twisted pleasure out of him losing.

Isn't that cute? A regular GOP family portrait.

Just look at that smile on McCain's face...now then, look at Palin's expression..don't know about you, but I just have to wonder, where is John Boy's left hand?

Hey, seeing as the GOP is such a close-knit family and all, I think it's a legitimate question.

Well, don't we all keep saying that everything Palin touches turns out badly? We can only hope.

meredithp makes a good point, but it needs to be extended all Republican Senators and Representatives - why would anyone vote of any of these people? If any of us decided not to do our work, would our employers keep us around? Umm - that would be a no, correct?

OMG - I just watched a segment about what happened in Missouri. Two elected officials got into such a heated argument and shouting match, that they had to be pulled off the floor and taken to separate rooms. Goodness - it gets worse - in the gallery was a group of school children. What a civics lesson they learned!

This has got to stop. There is simply too many elected servants of the people (that's what they are, right?) throwing tantrums and now resorting to physical violence.

When did being an adult stop being a threshold for holding public office?

I wonder how long McCain's marriage will last if he is no longer a Senator? I mean, Cindy and John rarely see each other now. Can you imagine living that volatile man? Gees, gives me chills to think how miserably he will act if he loses his last hold on power. We can all see how badly he is taking the loss of the presidential campaign. Imagine!

  14. We know McCain's military history well enough now to know what a disaster the man would have been without his Admirals to protect him. Then he marries into the mafia...well, let's face, he is a well protected politician with a license to lie no matter what. Is Az a victim of Diebold? I can not believe he has always been voted in by the populace. The fact that these 2 are super glued together is a testimony to both of their corrupt tactics. Too bad the truth about what happened to Sherry Johnston can't come out and a few lawsuits get started before more elections.

I hear Levi is taking care of business out side of Alaska today, he may just be going for another photo shoot or talk show but I wish he was doing something to get the truth out, the whole truth.

(Susie here) Is Sarah dragging Piper down to AZ then NV for these political events? That poor kid has missed so much school that it is totally irresponsible of Sarah to do that to her. It just seems like Sarah has some strange need to have Piper there with her all the time like some living security blanket. It's just very weird and inappropriate.

I'm pretty sure he's not happy about having to appear with the former governor, but knows he needs the teabaggers' votes. You can be sure Cindy and Meghan are not at all pleased about her appearance. The Senator is probably paying the $100,000 speaking fee. -karen

I always thought Hayworth was a major idiot but I think I I'd rather see him win. It is not like Arizona is ready for a moderate.

Mc and Paylin together is a good picture because if her past does catch up with her, he will also be exposed. Those two need each other in the worst way.

Cindy and Meghan have made an effort to not be as anal but they are failures.

A number of us progressive are trying to figure out if it's worth throwing big money at Hayworth - the opponent- just to get McCain out of office. Even if this crazy wingnut gets elected, he'd be on the lowest rung without any of the power McCain had and would not be reelected.

  23. meredithp -- I see McCain's promise to do nothing for the rest of the year as a big step in the right direction - one that moves him halfway from where he's been to where a responsible Senator would be. I'd love to hear all the Repubs promise to do nothing so the Senate could get some work done.
    -----------
It is curious to me that McCain chose to bring Palin here to Tucson - the Bluest part of Arizona. This area voted for Obama and gay marriage in '08, and is the home district of Raul Grijalva, co-chair of the House Progressive Caucus. Perhaps his strategy is to present the party moderates with wingnut Palin to remind them they don't want a wingnut Senator like her or Hayworth?

Gryphen, are you posting a picture from the 2008 campaign? That pretty jacket that Sarah is wearing is too nice and too expensive-looking to be part of her regular wardrobe. Either she borrowed it from Cindy (fat chance), she has been shopping the Wasilla Resale Shop or it came from the big black plastic bag in the back of Sarah's closet.

Some more thoughts: McCain announced that he wouldn't do anything as senator for the rest of his term. That's the way to put
    Country First.

As for Sarah campaigning for McCain again: I know die hard Republicans who couldn't vote for him because of his VP choice in 2008.

I understand that it's OK for a person on Fox to state political opinions. That's all that channel is, anyway. But, I wonder what Discovery Channel's policy is regarding a political stand on issues. They would risk losing a segment of their audience. I think that we should hammer them (excuse me, write polite letters) suggesting that they have never been political and they should remain non-political.

  37. Linda Arizona12:24 PM

Speech-a-fying over now. As I watched and wrote down what each of them said, it was clear that they acted as though Tucson was a campaign stop and that they hope to win the (presidency) in November. Really psychically jarring.

Occasionally, McCain would cough at points that seemed particularly hard to say. Does this guy have a conscience?! Hmmm. If so, it's trying to choke him.

There weren't that many people present, mostly retired, white lower to middle class folk, possibly military retirees. They served free hotdogs. For this town, that would be a big draw--lots of unemployment and folk on food stamps.

Also disturbing was the gargantuan tv screen with McCain/Palin 2010. What the hell are they campaigning for?! Together?!

Creepy too. They played Whitesnake's, Here I Go Again as they walked off stage. They seemed bored.

  40. I wonder how many people actually showed up and how many people will be reported to have shown up. During the presidential campaign, McCain came to my small town. They originally said only 500 tickets would be available. That was a lie, tickets were available to anyone who wanted them. I went to the rally out of curiosity. The small plaza in my town holds maybe 500 max, if they are all packed in. The roped off area was half full...so say 200-250 people showed up. The next day in the paper, it was reported that 2000 people were there. The day after, a paper in the northern part of the state reported 6000! No way in hell were any more than a couple hundred there...and that was less than the Cinco de Mayo festival attracts.

  41. Oh. My. God. I usually can make it about 30 seconds into a Palin speech, but the AZ rally speech had me scrambling for mute button in ten seconds. The screech, the writing on the hand (again!), the biker chick look.

I attempted to listen and watch this dog and pony show but the horrifying screeching by Palin forced me to change the channel early on. I did manage to catch the big fuk'in lies that Palin began spewing once again. Even Old man McCain looked very uncomfortable. And poor old Cindy looked like hell. Palin will be here in my home town of Austin on April 29. God help her.

  43. I watched first on CNN. They covered the BumPits speech and then within about a minute or two of McGramPa on stage... CNN cut away. They didn't even cover what Mccain had to say. W o w!

I also switched channels over to FUX once the BumPit started speaking... Cavuto's program was not even covering BumPits speech !!! And she in ON THEIR NETWORK!! W T **^%$ ! At some point they did have a split screen where they said she was in AZ... but there was no audio of actually what she was saying. She is ONE of THEM... and FUX didn't cover it Live.

CNN has Wolfe on later asking Jessica Yellin about the speech. The stage is clear and everyone is gone. Wolfe asks the question... What did the people attending THINK..? ..were they swayed or convinced. The ' undecided's still had not made up their mind. Sarah didn't convince them to support John.
I would try to find the Jessica Yellin clip somewhere. Quite telling.

Thank you, John McCain, for opening the asylum door and letting this lying, hate-filled, self-serving, deceitful psychopath loose on America. You will have plenty of time to think about what a mistake it was to pick Palin when you lose in November. You will be stripped of your power and importance and fade away like a bad dream. 46. 12:37 PM, Good question. I'm wondering if the Palin children and any others under age will now be protected by federal child labor laws? They really need to focus on Sarah's Alaska homeschooling, also, too.

Since her eyes look so weird and the mood swings and all, I say drug testing is in order, especially for any children. What if a child is not having a day when they can obey?

I just watched the CBS Network News, and following the speech, they interviewed people in the crowd. Some woman declared that despite being at a McCain rally, she intended to vote for Hayworth. Why did she come? To see Sarah, you betcha. Even CBS had to acknowledge that since Sarah has cast herself as Queen of the Teabaggers, it is hard to be seen campaigning for one of their opponents.

Yes, Cindy would rather be eating broken glass than standing up there one more time, her red suit blending into the huge red stripes on the flag. If looks could kill.

  48. The Learning Channel should do a whole episode on Sarah's Alaska homeschooling, and all the quirky denizens. Isn't TLC geared for parenting and children?
