A special needs organization actually had to PAY Sarah Palin, a person who presents herself as the mother of a special needs child, to deliver this speech to raise funds for them. And THIS is what she delivered?

I have heard too many Palin speeches to completely retain my sanity at this point, and many of them have been so bad, that the word "bad" does not even adequately describe them.

From the speech she gave to introduce Mikael Reagan in the PAC in Anchorage, to her resignation speech backed up by the sound of loons on the corpse of Lake Lucille, to the famous "notes on her hand speech" delivered to the Teabaggers in Nashville, I have heard them all and they have all sucked.

But THIS one, this one may have to be defined using a new word made up just for the occasion.

First she starts off telling, I kid you not, "Redneck jokes".  Only she cannot really tell them because she claims they simply describe her life, as if she can fool these poor ignorant people into believing that despite her multiple millions of dollars she still might just have a car transmission sitting in her bathtub.

She then moves on to making references to local sports teams in an effort to connect with an audience that came to hear her speak about her experiences parenting a child with Down's syndrome. I mean WTF?

Then there are references to oil spills, Todd's native heritage, the need for domestic drilling, and the nshe somehow tries to connect all of that back to the people who volunteer for places like Rainbow Omega, an organization that she is only speaking at because SHE WAS PAID TO SPEAK!

And as if these people had not suffered enough, Palin actually attempts to read a poem (Gee I wonder if IT will be in her new book?). After which she launches into telling the biggest, most outrageous, Sarah Palin lie of them all, the lie about learning that she was pregnant with Trig.

Of course there are lots of references to God, LOT'S of references to God, before she trots out the entire pantheon representing HER personal mythology; her perfect children, Todd's Alaska cred as a worker on the North Slope and commercial fisherman, her ability to juggle her job as governor while caring for her family,  their simple rustic lifestyle, all culminating in the birth of the most important Palin demi-god of all, Trig Paxon Van Palin. (By the way Sarah claims that she just did not know HOW to inform her family that Trig would be born with Down's syndrome, when in fact she did not even tell them she was having this baby until the day before she told the world, at which time she would have already been seven months along.)

At this point in the speech Palin tries to use the forum to slam what she derisively calls "Obama-care" and desperately attempts to convince her audience that the new health care plan will make it much more difficult for the special needs community to get services. She also trots out the Republican talking point that "government isn't the answer, government is the problem".  Which demonstrates just how out of touch she is with her audience which, as parents of children with special needs, surely must rely on a number of government programs to help them care for their loved ones. (Without access to Medicaid funding many of the programs used by the special needs community would not even exist.)

I have found NO evidence that Palin "worked with the Autism community for over a decade" in case you were wondering.  But this is the audience that she is addressing so that is the lie that she picks to tell.

I believe that THIS is the first of Palin's speeches that has been recorded in its entirety, and now we all know why.  It is almost shockingly bad, and the idea that she is receiving money to spew such garbage in front of a paying audience would almost be comical if it was not so terribly, terribly sad.

I wonder if, now that more people can see her in action, there will be so many organizations interested in paying this woman to slaughter the English language and further her political aspirations on their dime? Personally I think we should send a link to this video to EVERYBODY who even hints that they are thinking of hiring her to speak.

Omg...I couldn't listen after the redneck jokes. She is just awful. I wonder what her audience thought about her thinking she was among rednecks. Lol! She insulted them and probably doesn't even know it.

I couldn't listen to the whole thing. A person can only handle so much of that screech. I did listen enough to know that the speech was not worth $250 a ticket. Or $2.50.

I have worked and known people with children with DS and they use many federal/state programs. She didn't touch base with those people because perhaps they care ( hands on) for their children? When does she have time for Trig?

One more small note. Coming from a family of five we were not rich but we had a dining room table. We made sure that one night was family night when all our activities were put on hold. What of holidays? The great cook she is, does not have a dining room table, that she can well afford to sit with her family? I know all about sports and stuff teens do, eating on the run, but never to sit down to a family meal together?

I wish I had no morals so I could make 12 millions dollars. Apparently all you have to do is act folksy and you get paid. Second thought nah...I want to be able to sleep at night. I couldn't live with myself taking people's money giving back nothing in return. To the good fight. I have a feeling Palin's star is about to fall soon.

It seems Stupid is working on the false assumption that everyone with a special needs person in their lives is a Republican/Teabagger. I wonder how many were offended at her goofy slam at President Obama's health reform.

Governor Palin's topic will be "Dreams for My Child's Future: My Views as an Advocate for Those with Developmental Disabilities."
(NOPE she didn't even address the topic...)

Founder and CEO Stentson Carpenter says Gov. Palin is uniquely qualified to speak to Rainbow Omega supporters... He adds, "Few people truly understand the anguish of parents who wonder what will happen to their child once they can no longer care for them at home. It is our mission to provide lifelong care in a Christian environment, and we are certain that Gov. Palin will communicate our mission in a dynamic manner."
    (Dynamic - that's a hell no!! - what mission?)

Once again she doesn't know her audience. You'd think for $100,000 + expenses she could at least manage that. Major fail - the audience didn't laugh or clap during her 40 minute monologue.

That's why Keith Olbermann always ends any report about Sarah Palin with the phrase, "Sarah Palin is an idiot."

As long as Sarah gives a performance like this, she limits her base to that 15% of the population that thinks that Nixon was hounded from office and that Obama is still a citizen of Kenya.

It makes me sure that I'm doing the right thing in making sure she is stoppable. And I'll be one of the millions doing it.

Hey lady go over to look at the tens of thousands who responded to her little 10 commandments mess up.

Palin screws up, but as long as she is a money maker for people like Murdoch she will be on the scene.

They are waiting with a hook on it to drag her off the national stage soon enough.

Her cult following will continue to shell out their hard earned dollars for her smelly garbage.

    That is fine by me.

Children don't want stuff. They want parents to spend time doing things with them. Special needs kids need their parents time even more. The idea that she is doing this (celebrity thing) for her family is bull.

If she wants to lie and attack people, it's her choice. Because she makes that choice there will be plenty of people trying to expose her lies. A consequence of her choices is that there will be people cheering when the lies catch up with her and the world knows Sarah for the fraud she is. It is her own doing and she can't blame this on anyone else.

Anyone who could think God was on Palin's side doesn't know Him very well. She uses all of the tactics of the evil men and women in the bible who God eventually brought down--self-righteousness, false accusations, spite, division, manipulation, love of money over people. Comfort yourself in Palin's demi-God status if you want to--your idol is falling soon.

Psalms 37:7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. 9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. 10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.

Wow, just wow. This fundraiser was supposed to be "non-partisan". But, Sarah doesn't follow the rules. Yes, how embarassed they must have been, as she told reporters that causes like this one shouldn't have need to rely on government, that it should be a donation-based endeavor. Am certain that this Rainbow/Omega institution has relied on much-needed funding, grants, especially to get started. More foot-in-mouth speel.

And, all the usual cliches, too, like....pray for boy, bookends, kids athletes, good students, placed Trig in my arms, "I'm here mom"....Track, hockey career, bumper sticker about extra chromosome, DS kids teach more to us than we can teach to them......asking, "why us" and "why not us", State and Federal laws can be barriers to contribute to disabled, elderly and disabled...will be rationed....I was Governor, I was Mayor, I was City Manager, I, I, I, advocate, fairness, common sense solutions. Uggh!

Doesn't she realize that most of this was in her book, and the audience no doubt read her book, and how repetitive it sounds? And she gets PAID to present a sloppy 40 minutes of same-old, same-old with no new ideas. Couldn't she at least have done some research on the Rainbow/Omega and talked about it's progress, evolvement, maybe she could have asked recipients how their loved ones were blessed by it. She didn't even take the time to discuss personal/encouraging accounts of the residents who lived there.

    $100,000. Wow, just wow.

    Special Needs/Heather Bruce/Sarah Palin
"She [Sarah] wants to help. She wants to help so badly, but she has a lot to learn, and she knows it. She’s fresh into this, being an advocate for autism, for Down syndrome. People expect her to know everything about everything. [She has said] We need to sit down Heather, tell me what your needs are, what do you wish you could see, what do you think would help the state. And that was just the time she was the governor."
So after Sarah has been an aunt to a child with autism for 13 years and governor for nearly two, the best endorsement her sister can give her is "she has a lot to learn, and she knows it"? Interestingly, she also gives credit to the Democratic candidates for also raising the issue of autism during the campaign. How strongly does she support her sister's candidacy? I can't tell after listening to this nearly hour-long interview.
Heather Bruce is the sister that works with Autism

Didn't Sarah cut and run on Heather's Autism walk in New York? She has to go to a ball game with "Rudy" Giuliani or something.

Sarah Palin's baby shower included a surprise guest: her own baby. He had arrived in the world a month early, so on a sunny May day, Palin, the governor of Alaska, rocked her newborn as her closest friends, sisters, even her obstetrician presented her with a potluck meal, presents and blue-and-white cake.
Most had learned that Palin was pregnant only a few weeks before.
A few weeks later, after an amniocentesis — a prenatal test to identify genetic defects — Palin learned the results. Some abortion opponents decline such tests, but as her older sister, Heather Bruce, said, Palin "likes to be prepared." With her husband, Todd, away at his job in the oil fields of the North Slope, Palin told no one for three days, she later said.

    GRETA VAN SUSTEREN/HEATHER BRUCE
Heather may have been used in a video during the Barbara Walter's show. Rumors claim she is the one to check on Trig in a place for special needs children. He may or may not be getting treatment, that is top secret. No one is asking Heather any questions? Why not?

  28. Gryphen thanks so much for the highlights. I simply cannot make myself listen to that screeching voice anymore. Just can't. She not only doesn't know/insults her audience by not even remotely making intelligent, resourceful and informative comments on the subject, not to mention she is too stupid to realize she probably insulted 75% of her audience with her redneck jokes. But if I were a parent with a DS child I would wonder what the hell I am doing wasting my time listening to this narcissistic, self-serving woman who has earned $12 Million since quitting her job as GINO of Alaska and she donates a whopping $1,000 to help children with Down Syndrome. And finally, she should have DONATED her time, not charge the obscene about of $100,000 to show up at an event she supposedly cares so much about.

Seems to me that Sarah's ego tells her that she's getting paid the big bucks for speeches so there is no need to practice and prepare for them. In this case it was obvious. Not only was she reading it...it seems like she had - maybe- skimmed the material just prior to the speech. Just awful.

I also think it is apparent that Sarah doesn't like giving these 'softer touchy feely' speeches (or at least what should have been a softer tone). She likes the red meat Obama hating speeches. Ugh - mean girl!

Just because no one is willing to pay for your thoughts doesn't make what she does bad. I am quite sure if anyone would care to listen that Gryph would sell his thoughts on Palin for a hundred grand in a heartbeat. The current going rate for Palin Blog thoughts are a few paypal donations.

All public figures have their critics, so does Sarah. The critics have not been able to take her apart.

Just because you don't like someone doesn't mean you have any idea what God thinks of that person. Its actually amazing that you claim to know Gods thoughts on Palin...lol. I suppose he will have to continue to prove you wrong by providing for her and her family as they continue to prosper and enjoy a happy life together, despite your efforts to destroy them.

Saying you are a christian and actually being one are two totally different things.

  33. I would be willing to bet that most, if not all of the residents at the Rainbow Omega center all receive SSI (Supplemental Security Income). According to the SSI website,
"Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a Federal income supplement program funded by general tax revenues (not Social Security taxes) It is designed to help aged, blind, and disabled people, who have little or no income; and it provides cash to meet basic needs for food, clothing, and shelter.
This segment of the population needs these government funds. Personally, I am happy they can get it. I guess Sarah is against this government run program? I have personally signed up many of my former students for this program. I'm sure Rainbow Omega house is a wonder place (I hope), but it's still an institution where the residents do not live among the general population. That's segregation based on disability.

I have to say, charging a group dedicated to the needs of persons with disabilities a fee to speak at a fundraiser is just incomprehensible to me as is badmouthing the programs that these people rely on to care for their children. As a rehab counselor, I know that without government programs, their lives would be infinitely worse.

Let me see if I got this right: paylin got $100,000 from R-omega. Now R-omega has 80 patients who bring in almost $1.5 million from federal funds.
While that sounds bad enough $1,080,000 is for just 15 down syndrome patients.
Looks like she and her friends are getting rich off down syndrome patients, pro life my ass as she gets richer off socialized medicine!

    11:17 AM"

you should know by now that SP has only Kristen Cole as her BFF. no other friends, at all.

the only shower was the one at Cole's office that featured baby Ruffles and none of the Johnstons were invited or attended. It appears the only ones there were Cole, Cole's employees, Todd, SP and Ruffles.

CBJ was not there of course. Perhaps one of those other women was an obstetrician, but she's not CBJ.

Mother needs something today to calm her down
And though she's not really ill
    There's a little yellow pill
She goes running for the shelter of a mother's little helper
And it helps her on her way, gets her through her busy day

    "Things are different today,"
    I hear ev'ry mother say
Cooking fresh food for a husband's just a drag
So she buys an instant cake and she burns her frozen steak
And goes running for the shelter of a mother's little helper

That child does not look like the baby that looks like a Chandler and may have FAS.
It would be nice if the Johnstons visit the FAS looking baby and are current with his well being, that they may care about all those who are concerned for that child and tell us when they last saw him and an update on how he is doing. Not from what they are told but first hand knowledge. Is that child institutionalized?

"Wow. Wow. Just WOW -- can you say manic !" No one in the Palin bunch has a friend that will intervene. There are church groups and communities that do not think it is a problem if a person is on prescribed or over the counter medications. Do you ever see anyone involved with the Palins that cares at all for the children when they look like they could be doped up? I think the pros like at Fox, her speaker bureau and the book tour knows of a big problem. They do not care, she is a brand. If there is an OD they will replace the brand. Children are collateral damage to Sarah pros and fans.

  69. I really like the last comment here, because I definitely think she is on meds most of the time, or mis-using them or whatever. Gryphen, thank you for this post. Really. As you know since this took place in the state in which I unfortunately live, I am pissed. I also knew for about 35 years a young woman with DS (the niece of our best friends) and what Sarah Palin did last night is an insult to Paula's memory. For any of you who have commented above about the residents at Rainbow Omega receiving federal money: of course they do. Go to Malia Litman's blog. She has the details. As I posted last night, Sarah's being the "keynote speaker" at this gig last night was no accident because of past coach at the University of Alabama Gene Stallings and his role as consultant to the Board of Directors of Rainbow Omega, his having a son with DS, and his affiliation in Texas with our friend Rick Perry.

I tried to listen to the speech earlier today. I made it through the first two sentences: Hello Alabama. Do you (or how many of you - I have forgotten blessedly what she actually said) love your freedom? And she was screeching it. This is unbelievable.

I am so glad to hear that it was not well received. I have emailed the organizer of the event but am working in my head on the composition of yet another one to her perhaps. By the way her name is Andrea Wilson and her email address is awilson@rainbowomega.org.

  75. Dear Anonymous 8:52 AM

People actually DO pay to hear and read my thoughts, thank you very much.

In addition to that, I am the sibling of a 40+ year old mentally retarded woman -- and I know a LOT more than Sarah Palin about what that means. I actually spent years working with my sister to help increase her knowledge base and advocated for her once I moved from our parental home.

If Trig is in an institution, then that is a huge injustice. Having Down syndrome does not mean he'll be incapable of interacting, of learning, of being a human being. It just means he'll have limitations. Depending on the severity of his condition, those limitations may be small, moderate, or extreme. It's a bit early to know, though, especially if he's been denied his hearing aids and eyeglasses for an extended period of time.

I am disgusted by the people who claim to be moral and who praise this woman's horrible parenting. I am even more disgusted by those who propose that because she's a successful liar and grifter, that somehow means she's worthy of emulation and undeserving of criticism. This new form of greed Christianity is a poison to our country.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Anonymous12:45 PM

Why does she keep doubling down on the Trig lie? Can it really, truly be that she is so mentally ill that she thinks the more she repeats it the harder it will be to disprove it? Talk about delusional. If the whole Trig story is a lie, wouldn't you think that she would just shut up about it and keep quiet about it, hoping (delusionally again) that people will just forget about it? Is it really true to her?

As a previous comment stated, Malia Litman has the figures for this charitable group and, more importantly, the connections that link back to the Texas Republicans connected with the organization.

My first question is simple: why does Sarah need to travel First Class? Why can't she pay for it herself rather than charge a charity for those expenses.

If she is "of the people," then she can damn well sit amongst them. Obviously, she feels threatened by them (or their relative poverty) or believes herself to be better than them.

This is a diva. This is a woman who does not understand the meaning of charity, of serving others, or of giving of herself and her wealth.

She seems intent only upon amassing wealth - not using it to help the truly needy. Good luck with that Sarah.

Maybe my childhood memories of biblical teachings is wrong: I thought that the love of money was a bad thing, and that turning your heart from helping those less fortunate was wrong.

Gees, if only I had known that Christianity is all about making big bucks (and keeping them), I might have made difference life choices. Man, who knew?

  81. Anonymous1:12 PM

Anon. 8:52 - "Saying you are a christian and actually being one are two totally different things". I agree. However, scripture indeed teaches a believer never to be a divider, in word or action. To edify, not tear down, in one's speech. To lift up, encourage, not brag, not scorn an administration who is trying to help those who are NOT prosperous, like Sarah and her family. Does feel conviction keeping thousands of dollars for a 40-minute speech, when other moms with DS children are struggling. Reaches out to those in need, by offering time without pay. Volunteering. Giving of oneself like Christ gave, washing his disciples feet. She commended those who were working at the disabled home. Yes, these $8/$10 an hour loving caregivers should be acknowledged.

Jesus didn't ask for bendable straws. Or Lear jets. But Paul also said, in 1 Cor.: "All things are lawful, but not all things are profitable; all things are lawful, but not all things edify". Therefore, we are urged to withdraw from saying things which hurt others, even if we are right. Scaring the elderly, into thinking that death panels are in the making. It is lawful to say what she thinks, but it's HOW she could say it which God is concerned about. Jesus is not pleased when one tries to use scare tactics and make the elderly cry, in fear, panicking that they will be denied treatments.

If SP loves the disabled, can't she volunteer in some way, why does she always have entourage pampering her while she speaks 40 minutes. Couldn't the jet fuel, jet use, hotels, meals, expenses have gone towards this charity? Common sense solutions should be freely given. If she wants to speak about politics and get paid, that is up to her. But using charities as a speaking circuit with that high pay is a sad practice for one who expects, feels entitled to God's blessings.

Only one with an ego would participate, accept monies to speak. Clearly it is not a christian principle. I stand with Gryphen and those who see the hypocrisy.

Jesus loves all His children. Scripture teaches that God is no respecter of persons. God taught us that the rain would fall on the just and the unjust. Just because a family appears to be prosperous doesn't mean they are righteous.

    God won't be mocked.

I wanna be just like Palin and make public references to my sweetie's heritage.

"My sweetie is a Alaska Native."
"My sweetie is a Alaska Native."

Refering to such once in a while is okay. However, if I were to do such often, I was looking for something, or expecting something by referencing such. Ya know what I mean?

We just got back from Arizona and it was weird to see, that once people knew my sweetie is Inuit (I'm the American Indian in the family), they were all over him with questions.

Down in the lower 48, it is a curious thing for people to met or see a Inuit. Granted not all the time, but quite a bit of the time. People are just darn curious about Inuit people. Palin is cashing in on that via her continual reference of it.

I also find it weird that all she can say is that he is Alaska Native. Does the quitter know anything else? Like what tribe? or anything else? Probably not. To me that is a huge clue as to ones connections to their heritage. Back in the 60's and 70's there were lots of people pretending to be Indian. In the 90's we had lots of plastic shamans running around. Look I'm not saying who is a real Native American or Alaska Native or who is not. I'm just saying that Palin's continual reference to Todd's heritage is weird.

Scheech, honor your heritage, but stuffing it out there, like Scarah Palin does means she just wants to cash in on it somehow, someway.

Speaking of the lower 48, I was down there at a physician related conference. Funny thing was, that once I mentioned Alaska, the Palin name did come up. I didn't say it first. Usually others did. Urrrg...

Anyway, most people spoke to us about her, thought she didn't have the brains to go with the looks.

Or that she was a "flash in the pan" cheerleader.

Or that she grasps at straws to make a issue hers.

Or we were asked if she was really that clueless as governor?

But my favorite was, that they had heard her reference Todd's heritage at least 5 times and why bother if that is all your going to do. Like doesn't she know anything else about his heritage. Good god, does she know what tribe?

Todd and the kids are them there plastic Indians. They want the Bureau of Indian Affairs enrollment number and tribal ID to cash in on the benifits. And Scarah will mention his heritage to cash in on the novility of it.

She was unable to look up and literally read these stories word for word from her notes. What a shameless excuse for a speaker. With performances like this her time is short. Can't wait to hear her at the county fair.

  102. I made it slightly over 11% of the way through the screech by which time she had not even mentioned what her topic was or why she was there to speak that night. The joke session was lame in extreme - she was still reading them off her Blackberry!

I have half a mind to e-mail this to the Board of the CSUS Foundation and say - here's what your'e gonna get for whatever amount of money you are paying her.

I know whatever you are paying her is way, way too much! I know your Foundation would have made more by paying someone else less with less expensive demands and requirements. You could have put on a successful fundraiser that actually made more funds for the University and didn't cheese off many of the faculty and students and kept your school's name out of the negative limelight it is now getting.

    As Steve Martin said ..

    But Noooooooooo!

If anyone is booking her for 2011 ... ai ai ai, by now they must know how boring and unmotivating she is as a speaker. Who likes her? Who would spend money to come back and hear her again? Especially if prices were $50-$100?

You could get tickets to hear Pavoratti sing for $75-$100 in his day. Better investment in my opinion.

But I have to say, I get it now! Her last rambling story about angels, mothers, specials needs child, and mirrors. Sarah adopted Trig so she could consider herself a saint. Love that narcissism

  123. If she were really taking care of Trig she wouldn't have time to run all over the country. I know from experience. Feeding, bathing, dressing, medications, doctor visits, hospital stays, school, all kinds of therapy. I spent 12 to 18 hours a day caring for my child sometimes more.

Just how has she been an advocate for children with special needs, is it all that time she has spent volunteering? She is the biggest fraud, she has never really been anything, not even a mayor, she had to hire someone to do that too. Shame on the media for allowing this women to be in the spot light. If they had ignored her after the election she would be what she really is a nobody with nothing to offer. She lies just to be lying, she can't even keep her stories about her own family strait. She thinks she is qualified to be president because she takes care of a large family. That's what was in the USA Weekend interview. If that's the case anyone is qualified, come to think of it there are millions of people that aren't qualified that are more qualified than she is.

    yes, abo gato 3:42:

Is there anybody who was in the audience available to give their perception of Sarah's speech and how it was received? That is the REAL story!

To tell an audience of individuals who care day-in and day-out for children with special needs that the government is the problems illustrates Palin's absolute ignorance regarding the government's role in supporting children with special needs. What alternatives does she offer?

Someone needs to ask Palin whether she knows what ADA stand for. Does Palin believe the Americans with Disabilities Act should be repealed? Because in the America she desires, the one where government is removed from our lives, Trig won't be able to attend public school, live independently, or find a job. In the 19th-century America that Palin is striving for, Trig would be shut up in some asylum somewhere.

Is it really possible that her followers who also parent children with disabilities want to go back to an era when discrimination and prejudice against the disabled were commonplace? Where children were hidden and neglected? Without the government, these folks wouldn't have health care and education services at their disposal. Yet there they are, docile, taking the government's help on the one hand and supporting a lying, antigovernment charlatan on the other.

Sarah Palin is just a symptom of what's wrong with America.

Her beloved BP is in deep do-do. What is she to do? Campaign for MORE DRILLING!

"But I have to say, I get it now! Her last rambling story about angels, mothers, specials needs child, and mirrors. Sarah adopted Trig so she could consider herself a saint. Love that narcissism" Thank you for wading in deep, I couldn't make it through the sludge.

Is it true that Bristol is the one that takes care of Trig? That is when she is not off working. Does her roommate watch over her sons when she is away? Alright, I've found little on Ben Barber. Does he work or do childcare? Who will break that story and where to send the pictures?

It will be revealed what a fraud Sarah is. Pretending to act as a mother. Pretending not to know about who abstinence princess is boinking and who is the actual caregiver or institution that tends to her special needs prop.

She forgot a couple jokes, like.... you know you're a redneck when you run out of formula, you just ask your kid for some of theirs...... when your kid has to chose between the service and jail-time, .... when going to school means chosing what state to go to next. Her life is a redneck joke.

  130. As long as Sarah gives a performance like this, she limits her base to that 15% of the population that thinks that Nixon was hounded from office and that Obama is still a citizen of Kenya
    ________________________________________________

I agree with your posts about Palin and Obama but most modern Republicans and Tea Party types
have more or less disavowed Richard Nixon. For all of his flaws, the man was intelligent, curious about issues and the world we lived in
and knew policy and politics inside and out.

While Tricky Dick made his name as a hardballing anti-communist in the late 1940s and early 1950s,
when he was President, he toned down his rhetoric and reversed his earlier positions on China and was the first president to achieve arms reduction with the Soviet Union. Modern Republicans attribute the end of the Cold War to Reagan but refuse to acknowledge that without Nixon's earlier efforts, grounded in a more realist policy school, Reagan would not have been able to negotiate further agreements with Soviet Union.

As far as Palin, she could not carry Nixon's handkerchief ties, nevermind his you know what. She could have spoken to the struggles and joys of the parents of special needs children and acknowldged she herself is still learning many issues that confront such parents. Instead, she used a great deal of her time on partisanship and flat jokes. Special needs children' issues is NOT a Republican or Democratic, black or white or Asian or Jewish or Gentile issue. It is a human issue and to politicize it as such by attacking the very government that provides support to special needs parents through direct support and indirect support a la grants and tax breaks/credits to foundations such as this one is just despicable.

Then again, this is a woman who claimed in her book her daughters were threatened with gang rape yet failed to notify police or school officials.

Wait, I had to snap out of my boredom-induced daze and rewind a couple of times to listen again... is she saying "pedeSTOOL" around 30:45 and 31:00??? That's no accent, she IS!!! The question is, is it written that way, or does she read the word "pedestal" and wonder to herself what idiot wrote it?

You made it to 30:45? And 31:00? I barely made it through the redneck jokes! I seriously cannot listen to her that long and have a hard time even reading the transcripts so I am extremely grateful to Gryphen and the others who do it for me even though my job is to listen to people. Actually, if I were seeing SP as a client, I think I could listen to her as she would then be asking for help. But...
