For those Christians who believe the Republican party best represents their values. Think again.

I have often wondered how the Republicans, the party of greed and avarice, have been able to co-opt Christianity.  I believe if this really were a "Christian nation", based on the true teachings of Jesus Christ, we would be a more tolerant, more peaceful, and more spiritual nation.

I am no longer religious, but I would LOVE it if this really were a nation dedicated to forgiveness and unconditional love !

The hard right does not believe in the commands of Jesus, they prefer to cherry-pick the OT to demonize instead of love.

Republicans like to express their support and love for the troops too, but getting them killed is hardly the best way to demonstrate that love.

The party of empty words from people with empty heads and dead hearts.

I love this one! Very appropriate. I am a devout Christian and I hate the posturing by the Republicans. They need to read the Bible - read the words of Jesus. Many of the things that they do and the ideals that they hold dear are the very things Jesus spoke against.

"I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do because I notice it always coincides with their own desires" -
    Susan B. Anthony

That would just about explain the Republican fringers with $arah Palin, the chief abuser.

  8. I don't beleive but I get along fine with people that are truly spiritual. Religious and spirituality in my HO are two different things. Religion is just what dogma you follow. Spirituality is within your heart.

Sarah has no forgiveness in her heart, hops on every comment with venom, and just one of many examples, look how she treated her neighbor Joe. Joe could have written a totally different book on how kind Sarah really is.

As far Sadie she may come back she may not. Gryhpen would knows more. I can't get my head around the idea of a Mom using her daughter to sleep with Levi to stop a book. Then again we are talking about a Narcissistic Personality.

I wouldn't blame Sadie if she bowed out. She is a young girl and has enough on her plate with her sick Mom. She may be in a position with Levi where he has asked her to back off or change her format. I wish her the best no matter what.

For those who believe that Jesus resembled Kurt Cobain, rather than someone like Harvey Fierstein, its easy to convince them of almost anything.

How did the Repubs co-opt Christianity?? Through manipulating low information voters....read Whatever Happened to Kansas, The Family and the one by the guy that headed Bush's faith based office in the WH who said they used to privately make fun of the evangelicals they were publically courting.

My take on the Palins (and probably many people in the larger community who won't talk) is that they all know each other's secrets & blackmail is everywhere. Yes, as hard as it would be to fathom SP blackmailing Bristol into getting back into Levi's good graces, she has her under her thumb financially and knows her dirt as well. All very sad.

I think Sadie should just leave exposing SP to the grown ups and go back to school as best she can with her schedule now. So she can leave that crazy little Stephen King novel town and build a better future for herself.

I think the rill Jesus actually looked more like a shorter, stockier, darker Osama bin Laden. He even spent time in Africa...training to become a socialist/fascist/whatever-ist. Jesus certainly didn't look like Brad Pitt circa 1992, although he probably had more of a Brad Pitt sensibility than a Glen Beck vibe.

  12. Sadie's last post was titled "...before the weekend". Today is Monday. I'd say it is far too early to be concerned about lack of a post.

The Republican Party has always hypocritically claimed moral superiority, but a large number of their politicians have been caught in compromising positions. Democratic politicians have been equally guilty, but at least they don't act holier-than-thou. Therefore, they don't have as hard a fall, and the public doesn't skewer them like they do the Republicans.

In any case, religion is not supposed to cause people to suspend the kind of critical thinking that would alert them that Sister Sarah is a big fraud. This suspension of common sense and critical thinking are among the things that turn many away from organized religion. What religion is supposed to offer is a moral compass, not a substitute for rational thinking.
Sarah Palin is as fake as fool's gold, because she doesn't practice what she preaches.
