Remembering the summer of hate in Anchorage.

Jesus I can't believe it has already been a year since that all happened.

My daughter was here and she and I made this video of what it was like to be among the protesters outside the Loussac Library during the Assembly meetings. (Sorry that some of the words are hard to read, my daughter was not used to putting things on YouTube and did not realize how it impacted the quality. But overall she made an EXCELLENT video!)

Well I guess I know where I am going this weekend.

Hopefully someday soon our city will put aside its hateful prejudicial ways and embrace ALL of the people who live and work among us.

Oh, and I don't know because I've never tried it, but "bungee walking" sounds sort of horrible.

Last summer was pretty awful, what with out of control town halls and cries of "death panels" and pictures of Obama as Hitler.

But you know what? After all that screaming and shouting by the TeaBaggers (most of whom probably don't know what that term even means!) and the moaning and hand wringing by the Washington "pundits", we still got HCR. Somehow, our reps were not SO scared of the screaming mimis not to do the right thing. They passed HCR. Maybe not with the public option, but that and other reforms will come later.

The loonies on the Right can scream all they want, but HCR is here to stay.

The red sign shows how stupid these people are. Protecting the rights of gays protects the rights of all of us. Once we begin to deprive any group of Americans of their rights, the only question left is, who's next? I think many of these people suffer from poor self-esteem to the point where they just HAVE to have someone to "kick" in order to make themselves feel better. Azzholes.

Hey Gryphen attached is a clip from Rachel Maddow's show last night. This clip serves as a reminder of all the great things our President has accomplished in the midst of the hate and negativity.

Maybe the entire LGBT community should start attending church at ABT, that might scare prevo enough to shut his face once and for all. He is at the center of all of this. He needs to stay the hell out of politics and peoples personal lives.

What was the bill Palin vetoed early on as Governor? Let's hear you say it G. That's right, she went against current hateful mentality and vetoed a bill that in essence would deny gays the sharing of benefits.

ABT should have its tax exemption withdrawn because of its egregious political involvements.

I think majii made a great point about lack of self-esteem and their need to feel superior to another group. For a long time, they were content to project their self-hatred towards women, but then it expanded to blacks and other people of color, and now to people who have different sexual and gender identities. The groups under the Dominionist umbrella have expanded once again to include any Christians who do not agree with their narrow, almost perverse interpretations of the Bible, not to mention all non-Christians and non-believers.

They tend to see everyone but them as "creatures" - a kind of subhuman that will be lost if not converted to their brand of faith. So much hate based on a New Testament preaching love and forgiveness. They act as if they get points for heaven for each soul they "save" or "harvest." Really creepy. They must never read the NT at all. Amazing.

  8. I'm sorry that I don't know what the summer of hate is. I was in hospital this time last year and must have somehow missed the whole thing! Your daughter did a very good job gryphen.

If the last comment was true, can you do a post on this? I'm afraid I've never heard of this veto and if true palin does have at least some scruples! I think it can only do the cause good if we are fair to her and show good things she achieves too! It gives the blogs more credibility and help you reach her supporters (not the bots but the ones that just aren't aware).

Sorry if you covered this at the time, as I said I was rather preoccupied one year ago so I wouldn't know!

  9. Gryphen was that you at 1.30 talking to the ignorant lady? Whoever it was: nice one! Lol. I just pity these people that are so full of hate for behaviour that in no way harms them. That they go to such trouble to make other peoples lives a little more difficult. The man trying to block the sign was awful.

Gay people have enough problems getting thru life that it makes me so angry and sad that people want to make their struggle even harder.

Anyone that thinks homosexuality is a choice must themselves be gay I think, or at least not be 100% straight if they can imagine making that choice. I know that I could never sleep with a woman - could never force myself to! But evidently doing so is imaginable to them. Clearly denying who they are

  10. I've seen you post vids from the chaser boys before: if you search 'gay scientists isolate chrstian gene' you will find a nice little parody on YouTube from them. It's good
