Sarah Palin launches NEW defense fund with uber aggressive e-mail. Do NOT let the venom get in your eyes!

From Politico (who is apparently on some e-mail list that I am being completely ignored by):

Here is how the e-mail starts.

Sarah Palin’s enemies have scored another victory in their vicious campaign to smear, bankrupt, and force this dedicated public servant and conservative leader out of politics!

Okay first off as one of the people often identified as "Sarah Palin's enemies" I have to say "Yay, for our side!"

However, I kind of take offense at the whole "vicious campaign to smear or bankrupt" Sarah Palin.

Here let me carefully articulate my response. "Nuh uh, did not!" In fact, speaking just for myself, I am trying to reveal her many lies and abuses of power and hold her accountable for them. Is that NOT the American way?

And who is this "dedicated public servant" they speak of? I have never even met that person.

More from the e-mail:

Alaska is perhaps the only state in the U.S. where the Attorney General does not routinely represent the governor when accusations and complaints are filed against the governor under the operative ethics statutes. This means that the governor has to personally pay for her or his own defense.

That means not only was Sarah Palin required by law to respond to each and every frivolous lawsuit filed against her by left-wing activists, but she also had to personally foot millions of dollars in legal bills to defend herself from this massive witch hunt.

Okay I am sorry I have been hearing about these mythological "millions of dollars in legal bills" for over a year now. Yet we have NEVER seen any proof of that kind of money having been spent.

What we DO know is that as of March of this year the defense fund only paid $87,680 on legal and other expenses. And by the way these "other expenses" could have accounted for $87,600 of this amount for all we know.

We also know that, according to the Alaska Dispatch, the "state had a contract with Van Flein's firm to pay $100,000 for the legal services for the governor, but Palin's lawyer never collected. Palin and her lawyers argued that her official and personal lives were so intertwined that to accept public money to defend the governor would risk accusations she was taking state money to pay for private issues."

However do you know what I think? I think that they never took advantage of that contract because then they would have had to produce bills and invoices to justify the money spent, and accountability is simply NOT a Sarah Palin strong point. After all, when have you EVER seen her turn down free money?

Do you want to see a few more moose nuggets from this e-mail? here you go.

* The National Democratic Committee used its Alaska chapter, the Alaska Democratic Party (ADP), to create a web site with one stated goal: “Keep Sarah Palin Out of Public Office.” To this day, the Democrats are using this web site to publicly seek donations for funding bogus “legal challenges involving issues related to Sarah Palin.”

Now THIS is interesting because that last portion inspired a response from a person connected to the above mentioned website who sent me this statement just this morning:

The Truth: Our website was entirely our idea, and prepared by us. No national group, including the DNC (or some non-existent group called the National Democratic Committee) used us or had anything to do with this site.

Another nugget:

* The ADP’s “Keep Sarah Palin Out of Public Office” campaign has used our own legal system to sponsor over two dozen ethics complaints against Governor Palin. Yet out of 27 complaints, 26 have already been dismissed!

And another response:

The Truth: Nope. The Alaska Democratic Party has not sponsored any ethics complaints. Not one. We did file a public records request to get to the truth out. A large number of the ethics complaints were filed by an Alaskan Republican, Andree McLeod.

Where did they get this stuff? We challenge the Sarah Palin Legal Defense Fund to defend their statements. They simply won’t be able to. Ironically, the e-mail accuses us of ignoring the truth.

Okay well you get the idea. The Sarah Palin Legal Defense Fund e-mail message is chock full of lies and deceptive statements that are designed to make people feel terribly sorry for poor, poor multi-millionaire Sarah Palin and to get them to dig into their savings or raid their children's college funds to send even MORE money to a defense fund that Palin needs to fight...um.....well I am not sure exactly WHAT she is supposed to be fighting against these days, except perhaps the facts.

However to be fair, there is ONE nugget of truth in there e-mail.

My friend, this is a witch hunt, pure and simple.

Now usually I don't like to call women such names, but lady if the shoe fits.......

Since the Palin staff is accusing the National Democratic Party, perhaps this will backlash into what we -the bipartisan truth-seekers - need... The national media to get involved in exposing the lies.

If I didn't know anything about Sarah Palin's deceptions, and I was a conservative who read her book, and thought she was the great leader, mother, wife, daughter, and business woman she claims to be. I would definitely hesitate and think twice about donating to a legal defense fund. ANYONE with legal problems, usually has some underlying issues...red flag. I would want answers about the misdeeds before contributing to her defense. Anyway, I know that her followers are superficial thinkers, but there are people on the fence who may consider her "legal problems" in their decision about supporting her.

  5. May I offer this quote from Joseph Goebbels?

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State [read SP] can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State [SP]to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

She walked out on her elected position last July. Because she still refers to herself as the gov. I think many simple minds think she is. Just like some think she is POTUS. What some folks will do for $$. Our President has too much on his plate to listen to this uneducated bumpkin. And to think she wants him to call her. I think I have as good of a chance of the Pres calling me as she does. Both of us are private citizens. Diff. is I have a soul, and morals.

If Sarah is such a dedicated public servant, why isn't she serving out her full term as governor of the state of Alaska? A dedicated public servant does not quit, costing the state thousands of dollars in expenses. It is so hard to pull that dedicated public servant crap when we are coming up on the year anniversary of Sarah''s quitting speech.

It would be hard to bankrupt the woman; she has millions. She can now afford her own lawyer. Her PAC pays her lawyer a $10,000. monthly retainer. Donating to Sarah is almost like sending money to the Nigerian Prince. OH, is he real? I had no idea.

No wonder Dunn keeps postponing the release of his biography of Sarah. Stuff keeps happening; she continues to write chapter after chapter for him. I suggest that he just bring the book out now, and we'll all enjoy the sequel next year. It could be a two or three volume set at the rate that Sarah is going.

Palin and Stapleton need to get on the same medication.

Their co-dependency is definitely operating on remote control at the neural level.

  10. Gryphen, I'm 110% positive that I've read that Sarah only took on the funds herself because doing so meant the legal records were private ie if she used Alaska funds every little detail of her transgressions would be available.

Am I having a stroke? What you say here says otherwise but there's no reason to doubt you. Surely considering the gov salary, law coats would be on the state? Maybe I'm just so used to hearing about Sarah's endless ethics complaints that I think it's the norm! Lol

As for college funds - LOL - no kid of that litter is bright enough to handle college. Gee whiz, they'd have to have open minds - or, at least have attended school half of the time.

I hope someone makes them prove the allegation of "millions" of dollars in costs.

The "Keep Sarah Palin Out of Public Office" campaign is of vital national importance. John McCain staffers discussed whether Sarah Palin was "mentally unstable" and still ran her for VEEP making it critical that Palin be medically certified for mentally stability before she can be considered for public office.

How's that mentally, stablely thingy workin' for ya, Palin?

Tania you and I are in agreement. I had forgotten if it was stated that way before or not, but yes I am SURE she did not accept money from the state because then her legal records would have been open to scrutiny. We are on the same page.

The following statement IS ABSOLUTELY BOGUS!!!:

    * The National Democratic Committee used its Alaska chapter, the Alaska Democratic Party (ADP), to create a web site with one stated goal: “Keep Sarah Palin Out of Public Office.”

NO ONE is trying to keep Paylin out of Public Office! Scarah Paylin QUIT her public office jobs - every last one of them. She DIDN'T WANT ANY OF HER PUBLIC OFFICES. For her or anyone representing her to make this statement flies in the face of FACT AND REASON! Even now, Paylin DOES NOT REALLY WANT TO BE POTUS - she doesn't want the 'responsibility' of any job and doesn't possess the QUALIFICATIONS to handle the POTUS job in the first place. Whatever transpired in each and every public office job she ever had, she MADE A CONSCIOUS DECISION TO LEAVE PART WAY THROUGH, so NO ONE is trying to keep her from any public office position. No progressive wants her to be elected to any other public position because WE ALL KNOW SHE WOULD 'QUIT' AGAIN PART WAY THROUGH. She's her own worst enemy anyhow. All progressives want from her is for her to take responsibility for her LIES AND HYPOCRISY, but she doesn't possess that ability either.

Kristan Cole has recovered enough to talk with media and bail out the quitter.

“The governor is not, was not and has not been involved in this trust,” Kristan Cole of Wasilla said Wednesday. Palin knew zip, HA! Van Flein is on a roll and covering his own ass......
” He said he had warned the then-governor that the proposed trust might not meet the letter of the Alaska law and should be run past the state Ethics Board before proceeding. Palin overruled that advice, he said. She had seven lawyers advising her — six of them big-time litigators from the Lower 48 — and she chose to accept their advice instead”, Van Flein said.

It is time to end all Welfare Queens, get Scarah and Alaska off the dole
I have nothing against Republicans wasting their money on this next AFT scam, better than sending it to a more legit queen. "There's a sucker born every minute"
I also support Scarah digging herself in a little deeper for the time being. Keep lying until the indictment, Scarah.
    ...she will return money?

Tonight Lear 60 jet and bendy straws meets the press: C.S.U. Stanislaus has been getting ready for Sara Palin's visit to the campus. A chandelier has been added to the room where Palin will address a crowd of more than 350 people, and chain link fencing has been installed around several buildings.
Any chance she will have a new speech and has improved delivery? Stay off the meds Scarah.

Poor Sarah, always the victim. A real leader would take some responsibility, admit that it was all the lawyers' fault for giving her bad advice and move on. However, Sarah can not move on. Not when she loses. She keeps fighting that battle over and over again, just like any mature person would do. (Do I actually have to write: sarcasm? No, Gryphen's readers are too bright for that).

  20. I thought the Rs were all about personal responsibility. So you CAMPAIGN for the position of Gov; nobody forced you to become Gov. And the state you're Gov of is the only state that the AG doesn't defend? Then don't behave in an unethical manner. And presto! No crippling legal bills.

Even with all the fabulous research being done by Gryph and a few other blogs to rip the cutesy-pie facade off this bogus, reality-show-caliber POTUS wannabe, I predict that Sarah will be her own undoing. How long before she cracks under the stress of keeping up with all the endless lies and schemes, and publicly melts down? Even though there's a team employed to make sure all the nonsense is covered with gibberish-laden rants and emails, I doubt Sarah herself has the stamina or focus to keep this charade going indefinitely.

Eventually, something will slip by and the blabbering Word Salad will inadvertently toss it up. And, IMHO, she's looking a little wild-eyed and a lot less confident lately. It's a shame that she'll have so much of the sheeple's hard-earned cash, but hey, caveat emptor...they'll just find another bright, shiny Evangelical object to worship.

  23. For those asking "hiow much were Sarah Palin's legal bills" Mel Green (I hope I have her last name right) @ Henkimaa dug thru the data and did a super analysis. Not only did she reveal that the number being thrown around at the time was inflated, her analysis revealed that the large majority of Palin's legal expenses were associated with defending herself against her own ethics complaint (ie the one she filed so she'd get a do-over on Troopergate). One of Mel's posts on this matter is here http://www.henkimaa.com/2009/07/10/governors-office-admits-errors-on-palin-spreadsheet/

I am also offended Sarah was trolling for money because she had so many expenses etc. ... including "kids heading to college." What a load of crap. She hasn't spent 10 minutes preparing her kids for anything.

There's a more than good chance her legal bills for ethics complaint didn't come anywhere near $500K.

So why did they need that much money? To cover future travel expenses for her family? Reimburse adoption costs (the baby belongs to all rill Americans and it would be silly for the Palins to pay)?

Interesting take on the ethics case, Van Flein throws SP under the bus

    From an Alaska Dispatch article:

    http://alaskadispatch.com/blogs/palin-watch/5787-get-me-the-money

"The settlement agreement, which was worked out largely between Petumenos and Thomas Van Flein, Palin's personal attorney, went on to say that the provision was merely included to "prevent the donors from being required to file gift tax returns (with the IRS) in connection with their donations." But Petumenous pointed out that the way the trust was written there was nothing to stop Palin from using the money for anything she wanted.

The more than $360,000 in donations collected while she was governor, the settlement said, could have been used for reduction of "private debts, payment of private income taxes and, theoretically at least, are subject to demand for any purpose. Thus the Trust itself contemplates personal gain and financial benefit" to the governor in violation of the Alaska Ethics Act.

For that reason, Petumenos said, Palin has been ordered to -- and agreed to -- refund the money of everyone who contributed to the Alaska Fund Trust when she was governor. He added that Palin had put the fund in limbo after ethics complaints were first filed more than a year ago and appeared to be cooperating fully with the subsequent investigation into the fund.

Thousands of citizens around the nation are expected to get refunds now. Most donations were less than $150, said Petumenos.

The Alaska Department of Law will be in charge of seeing that the refunds are made. If donors refuse to accept them, there is a provision for forwarding the money into a fund for a non-profit organization.

Van Flein listened to Petumenos's presentation, and later held his own informal discussion with the press. He said he had warned the then-governor that the proposed trust might not meet the letter of the Alaska law and should be run past the state Ethics Board before proceeding. Palin overruled that advice, he said. She had seven lawyers advising her -- six of them big-time litigators from the Lower 48 -- and she chose to accept their advice instead, Van Flein said.

"What I said (to her) was the prudent thing to do was to submit it to the review board," Van Flien said. "The other lawyers said it was not necessary.''

  28. Please forgive me if I've missed this along the way...so much information and my brain is full. However, I'm loving the fact that she not only has to give the money back...but probably pay to have someone figure all of that out for her...just because she attempted to circumvent the transparency required had she accepted state funds. Smoke and mirrors is her game.

Did I read somewhere up in the comments that Sarah Palin needs to hold on to her "hard-earned" money so she can send her kids to college?! That is the biggest piece of bullshit I've read all day. Her kids are not going anywhere near a college.

  30. Gryphen wrote,"However do you know what I think? I think that they never took advantage of that contract because then they would have had to produce bills and invoices to justify the money spent..."

You have her exact number. One reason for this fund was to keep her corrupt underhanded dealings from being scrutinized.

While the Department of Law was not directly involved in the defense of Palin, it is true they were actively used to manipulate laws to her favor and orchestrate cover ups. This is why all over the internet and on the ADN comments someone was writing about Tallywacker Colberg stating he was the most honest person they had ever met. In fact this kind of statement was being made in the comment sections of newspapers all over the country. He looked slimey after working under Palin and then wanted to run for public office.

I have friends here in Alaska from the lower 48 and am amazed at the lack of knowledge they have about Palin...so, I've been pulling up information for them and giving them proof sources as to her many, many lies, etc. They actually thought she was a wonderful mother and a regular church attendee!

Her speech at the university in CA was horrible -per usual. Good to see her ratings dropping into the 20's nationally though.
