Boston judge rules federal marriage ban to be unconstitutional. And local hatemonger Jerry Prevo issues warning about a performance by a recently out of the closet Christian singer.

From CNN:

U.S. District Judge Joseph Tauro ruled that "as irrational prejudice plainly never constitutes a legitimate government interest," the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) violates the protection under the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution.

Tauro ruled simultaneously in favor on two separate lawsuits that were filed by the Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) on behalf of eight same-sex married couples and three widows, and by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, where same-sex marriage has been permitted for over six years.

Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley called the ruling "a victory for civil rights." Coakley, who attended court Thursday for the ruling, told reporters, "All citizens who are married in Massachusetts should be treated equally."

Tauro ruled that in DOMA it was "only sexual orientation that differentiates a married couple entitled to federal marriage-based benefits from one not so entitled."

He added that "the relevant distinction to be drawn is between married individuals and unmarried individuals. To further divide the class of married individuals into those with spouses of the same sex and those with spouses of the opposite sex is to create a distinction without meaning,"

Score one for common sense and real American justice.

On a similar note our local gay bashing Baptist minister is losing his mind over an appearance in Anchorage from a recently out of the closet gay Christian singer.

WARNING

A popular ex-Christian song writer and singer will be performing at the Metropolitan Community Church, a Homosexual Church, this weekend.

Here is the article of his coming out.

Ray Boltz Comes Out

Mark Moring

Ray Boltz, who sold about 4.5 million records before retiring from Christian music a few years ago, came out of the closet Friday to announce that he's gay.

In an interview with the gay magazine The Washington Blade, Boltz said he came out to his family and some close friends in December 2004, but only now decided to go public with the news.

"One reason Boltz decided to come out now might be because he's performing Sunday at Jesus Metropolitan Community Church in Indianapolis, and then next Sunday, Sept. 21, at the Metropolitan Community Church of Washington, D.C. Both congregations are a part of a denomination that embraces the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) community.

AND NOW HE IS PERFORMING HERE IN ANCHORAGE.

BEWARE

PASTOR PREVO

The all caps comes to us courtesy of the extremely frightened Jerry Prevo. (I did not even have to add them for emphasis.)

Obviously the Reverend "Look out a gay!' Prevo is quite disturbed that a gay Christian singer dares to actually perform in HIS city.  But surely this is not the first time such a thing has happened. Why do we think that THIS particular gay singer has Prevo's panties in a wad? (And yes of course he wears women's underwear. I am pretty sure that ALL homophobic preachers do. It is like part of their uniform or something.)

I wonder if his intense discomfort could have anything to do with a certain post by this intrepid blogger back in October of 2009, in which the following was revealed:

When Mr. Clarey finally pried his lips off of Jerry's ass, the stage was taken by a middle aged man, with a powerful voice, who sang a very beautiful song to honor Pastor Prevo called "Thank You". I was actually quite moved, but not for the same reasons as the rest of the crowd.

What the congregation at large may not have been aware of is that the writer of that song, Ray Boltz, just came out of the closet last year and admitted that he was gay. (Damn it! They are everywhere!)

Oops!  How embarrassing!  So of course Prevo has to loudly proclaim his revulsion with Ray Boltz's appearance.  How else can he make sure that people do not believe that he even remotely supports dudes who like dudes?

Sadly so long as small minded people like Jerry Prevo exist, and use the Christian religion to provide cover for their hate and prejudice, helping our LGBT community attain the same rights enjoyed by everybody else will always remain an uphill battle. (H/T to Alaska Commons for calling my attention to this homophobic rant from the always perfectly groomed Jerry Prevo.)

Why is it that every time I see Prevo my mind sees it as Pervo?

It's about time a judge has the balls to declare DOMA unconstitutional. Good job!!

I'm more worried about men who swear in front of their children, who drink to excess, and who verbally talk about homosexual sex while their sphincters tighten and relax, tighten and relax and ooooh. . . than I am of openly gay singers.

The Christian music scene behind the scenes is pretty feral and just as bad as the secular scene which is more open about indiscretions. By Prevo bringing up anyone on a national label, he is supporting the industry.

  7. OT technical issue: I miss being able to comment on the original blog page with sidebar, etc. or having a separate comment window...with the input block at the bottom. The set-up of going to blogger.com/comment with the comment input block at the top of the page is highlighting my laziness and low frustration tolerance.

Did I somehow change settings and is there a way to change it back?

Unless the tide of history makes a complete 180 degree turn, we will eventually find out that this Prevo guy has all manner of sexual deviancy going for him.

I mean, its ALWAYS the loudest ones calling others names, who turn out to be riddled with their own problems. Well adjusted people have no qualms about the sexual orientation of others--its as simple as that.

You know, we had one of those kind of preachers here in the midwest. His megachurch was also anti-gay. His thousands of supporters followed his every word and opinion.

Until, that is, they found out he was ripping the church off - financing his kids quarter-of-a-million dollar homes, taking fancy trips and the like. Seems that they began to rethink some of his attitudes towards other Christians, non-Christians and homosexuals.

Congregants felt betrayed that he'd been siphoning-off all their hard-earned contributions and finally began to re-examine everything he supposedly stoof for and against.

Maybe that's what is needed there. Wonder if Mr. Perfect Pervo has any little things he's been hiding from his congregants other than his self-loathing and fear of being homosexual?

I'd recommend people start digging around. Those big bucks attract some unsavory people - Palin isn't the only pretend Christian around.

  10. Beware of what? That listening to a gay singer will turn you gay? That listening to a gay singer will make you turn your anti-gay swords into pro-gay plowshares?

If that were true, it have happened loooooong before now.

I guess we must boycott the ballet next - I hear some of the dancers are gay! And the theatre too. I hear some of the actors AND the playwrights are gay. And TV. We must never watch a TV show with a gay actor or presenter.

Thank goodness we still have the symphony orchestra. Those upstanding classical musicians surely wouldn't be ..... oh, some of them are gay too, and worse, they play music written by gay people. You know, nothing converts a person to gay-loving more than Tchaikovsky's 6th Symphony. There's a real Russian plot!

  11. "A popular ex-Christian song writer and singer will be performing at the Metropolitan Community Church, a Homosexual Church, this weekend."

Really? How can a church be homosexual? Does it have relations with rural (as opposed to metropolitan) community churches? Maybe it favors gas stations?

On a more serious note, Mr. Prevo should read his bible a bit more closely. If he did, he would see that, according to Jesus, he's not being very Christian.

These hate and fear based freaks will cause their own demise. The energy they feed of off is nothing short of pure darkness. They are creating their own hell, now and in the afterlife.

Score one for Massachusetts! As much as I hated seeing Scott Brown get elected, Martha Coakley is a damn good Attorney General. But we really need to get this corrected at the FEDERAL level.

It appears that a nutball with a computer has been clusterbombing progressing Alaskan blogs last night or this morning. Hey dipshit! Just because your queen says that nobody is allowed to speak except her doesn't mean we will comply because of a spam attack. It only makes us sane folks more determined to expose the witch for the evil bitch she is. And you are lame. Lamestream zombies marching in lockstep. Lobotomized minions living in an alternate reality. Good luck with that. Alternate realities have a short shelf life.

  16. The "beware" email was not Prevo's only attack on Boltz, he also wrote a column about the dangers of gay Christians, saying they keep "deadly" secrets.

Wonder what kind of deadly secrets Prevo keeps...

For some good news - Today, Argentina became the first Latin American country to legalize same sex marriage! Brava!
