I would have bet big money that Sarah Palin would avoid Bill O'Reilly's show like the plague after her last interview with him.
O'Reilly clearly realizes that Palin is an imbecile and seems determined to reveal that fact to his viewers.
He refuses to let her get away with her canned responses and talking points and insists she explain exactly how she would handle the border problem.
Just check out her body language. She is STEAMING! She keeps babbling buckets of bullshit and when O'Reilly cuts her off by pointing out that the issue is more complicated than she is acknowledging she tenses up and gets that nasty smirk on her face. I bet Levi saw way more than his fair share of that expression in the last couple of weeks or so.
I would bet my next paycheck that the minute she got off the air she made a phone call to somebody in a position of power at Fox News and told them that she was NEVER doing the Factor again! Any takers?
Okay now I don't have to start LIKING Bill O'Reilly now do I? Because I just don't think I could handle that.

No need to start liking O'Reilly - but it is satisfying to see Palin squirm. She is under contract - Faux News didn't spend all that money on her so she can call the shots - my guess is she has no choice what so ever - she will appear on whatever show they say she will - and they want to keep O'Reilly happy too so they won't reign him in too much on how he handles her -- I also guess that those in charge are playing both sides of the fence a bit - for those who love Palin and those who don't - creating a win win situation for them - either way she is a train wreck and people love to see a wreck so they will watch

It should be a wake-up moment for folks at Fox that she is just a spiteful critic of the Obama administration, and clearly takes NO time ever to STUDY issues, learn details about the issues she speaks of. She hasn't comprehended yet that solutions need to be forthcoming at these interviews.

Sarah's going to have to make a critical decision to take her role seriously or lose even her loyal following. She can't run on celebrity adulation forever.
I must admit that I have watched this interview at least four times. It is priceless. He doesn't let her away with any of her usual talking points, and to say she is steaming is putting it mildly. Even her fans over yonder are not happy with her performance, some are even likening it to the Couric interview! RAM had to arrive on the scene to calm things down.

Given how shamelessly Fox tailors the news to fit their agenda, for Sarah to be humiliated so harshly by her "Friends" indicates she is now a huge embarrassment even to Fox. All this without even bringing up "Pink Elephants" also, too.

What a waste of space, she's still using her Beauty Pageant answers for real world problems! To me, Reagan saw his Presidency as another acting job, although it was the biggest gig of all for him. It seems that his #1 fan is following likewise in the sense that she sees the Presidency as one big Beauty Pageant.. all glitz; answers that have very little substance (no one cares about the q&a, it's all about how you smile on camera); your physical appearance is what you're judge on; being flirtatious and project that image of wholesomeness. I expect that in her next interview,she will wearing a bikini, to seal the 'win'.

Then he just led her through some specifics with her saying yup. And she still got tangled, because she really doesn't have a clue about what we should do with the illegals already in the country. It sounded like halfway through that she decided to throw them all back over the fence, because, after all, rill Americuns should have first shot at those manual labor jobs like working in the fields, getting paid almost nothing, no benefits. ReplyDeleteAlthough I don't care for O'Reilly either, it was quite a show to see a fellow conservative skewering Palin. O'Reilly's look and body language spoke volumes about his low opinion of her. He would not let her get away with her nonsensical word salad, and gave her plenty of rope to hang herself with his pointed questions.
ReplyDeleteShe needs to be subjected to that kind of interview any time she decides to go in front of the media. If that had been happening to her all along, she would have faded from public notice much earlier.
I agree, Gryphen, that she probably WILL avoid going on O'Reilly's show. For someone who professes to be a pit bull with lipstick or a grizzly mama, she cannot stand up to incisive interviews because she has no intelligent answers to anything.

Palin is pathetic in this interview. Her blathering was on the level of the Couric interview in which she reveals she does not have a command of facts, is disinterested in the issues and can merely repeat phrases e.g. "job creation" or "drill baby drill". Anyone who asks a specific question, repeats the questions is preceived as the opposition to Palin saying only what she wants to. That is the limit of her capability and a hallmark trait of narcissism to declare self the one and only expert of all things. Narcissists take information about people, and use it to their advantage and are delusional that is why other people ask them for information i.e. to "attack", slam down, to usse information abusively to be condescending villifying others.

Despite Bill O leading and feeding her casting out life lines, major hints Palin blew it. Her mood shifts from pleasant when Bill mentions Palin as president and then the primative anger of a narcissist clouds her face when asked a question about her.

Haven't watched the interview, but enjoyed the comments. This is why Sarah's handlers have her hide behind Facebook. She cannot answer any question coherently. She has no ideas of her own. She can only remember talking points that have been fed to her, and even then they don't make sense. She will never be in a real debate and actually answer questions. She will never do any interviews that are not on FOX. It would be too obvious that she is nothing but a sock puppet. It will be interesting to see if the American people let her continue to get away with this crap. I hope the first female president isn't one who is going to govern by twitter and Facebook. Then it really will be the end of the United States

Sarah doesn't care if what she says makes sense or not, because she knows the brain-dead zombies who dote on her every word will always back her no matter what. Why should she study up on the issues? Being knowledgable doesn't matter to her. She's always bull-shitted her way through life, why change now?
The scariest part is that someone with that mentality thinks she can actually be president! I'm sure she figures she'll leave the thinking to others in her administration. And of course, Todd will be making most of the decisions anyway.
And she is definitely running for president. No doubt about that anymore.

ReplyDeleteActually, he is doing her a favor. Instead of letting her flounder to come up with an answer, he continually provides her with one. He is spoon-feeding her policy solutions that she never came up with and allowing her to pretend that those were the things she always had in mind.
ReplyDeleteI think there is a broader strategy going on here. Every time Bill does one of these confrontational interviews with her, he follows up by letting her close with some self-promotional garbage.
I think the intent is to use Bill O'Reilly to help "prep" Palin to face non-Fox journalists, which she will have to do if she wants to make a presidential run. He's acting as the stand-in.
The other objective here is to try to make her seem presidential. That's why you have Bill O'Reilly saying, "If you were president, Governor..." He's seeding the viewers with the thought that this is a reasonable thing to imagine.
This is being done to help Palin, not to hurt her.
I think that Bill O'Reilly is in the same position as the older kid when the mom says, "Take your little sister with you to the park. Now,you look after her, no matter what."
ReplyDeleteHe is being asked by Murdoch and Company to make Sarah look good, and goodness knows he tried. The same goes for some of the other people at Fox.
I think that there reached a point where they got tired of looking after someone who was being paid more money and wasn't willing to do any of the work. Let's look at the good news. Once Sarah announces that she is a candidate, she can't be on Fox News any more.
I feel so much more at peace after that interview. It drove home for me that one simple thing about Palin that will never, ever change, no matter who manages her or teaches her: she will always be unprepared. It gives me assurance that her followers will never extend beyond the freaks who currently love her. Lack of preparation will turn off anyone else who's the least bit interested in self-preservation.
ReplyDeleteAnd like all conservatives, no mention of the REAL problem: the employers who are hiring illegal workers. I have sympathy for many of the farmers hiring them, because they are the ones who get visited and have all their workers deported in the middle of harvest. But the many other employers in cities across this country, who hire them only because they are cheap and easy to control (the farmers say they actually try to hire legals and have no takers), and are disposable, those employers have created this problems, and they are the ones being protected by the rich assholes in our country. Sarah is too damn dumb to even remember that side of it, much less make it a talking point.

After that, she will go sit in her wally-world pjs in her bed (with that gun underneath in a box), stuffing her face and eating crunchwraps galore.
Afterwards, she will summon Levi to her majesty's throne and dictate the next step for him to make. After that, she will hurl some well-articulated insults over her 14 ft high fence towards McGinnis and blame the whole debacle on him and on Obama.

ReplyDeleteIMO, it was all scripted - his part as well as hers. The roll-out of Strong Sarah Mama Grizzly who does have a plan. Rilly, a rill plan to swoop in and save Amurika. We going to see a string of interviews trying to sell the well-informed candidate who's not afraid to argue with even Billo and the bots are going to buy it but how about the independents?
Criticizing Reagan? Maybe I haven't watched her enough but it seems to me that when she's happy with herself and thinks she's pulling the wool over everyone's eyes, that her eyes show real joy. During the entire interview, her eyes indicate that she's happy, she's pleased with herself. That's why I think his part as well as her part were scripted with the intent of proving to the world that she's got something in her brain besides silly-putty.
We're in 2 wars, troops are worn out, the Border is 1,969 miles and we're going to fence it? At what cost? Where's the $$$ going to come from? 15,000 troops spread out over 1,969 miles? Yeah, okay. She grabbed at them like a drowning cat grabs at a stick thrown to her - but once she got hold of the stick, she did not know what to do with it, so she let it go again.

I would like to see someone figure out how much Palin's "plan" would cost. First there is the construction of the fence (using all legal workers). Then there is the patrol of the fence (would we have to have a draft to get the troops?). Then there would be a huge increase in the bureaucracy to legalize the workers. Then there would be armed troops to find the unregistered. Then there would be the cost of deportation. And then everyone would have expensive vegetables, dirty houses, and unmown lawns because all the workers would have to be paid at least minimum wage plus payroll taxes.

But I agree with a lot of people on here, SP is still low on the Fox Totem Pole, and not yet in a position to tell them what she is and is not going to do. She might ask, and they might agree, that she not go on the Bill O show again, but for some reason I doubt it But we'll find out in the fullness of time. Which I guess is about 6 months. If she's not back on his show by then, we can guess it was at her request, not Fox's.

Someone who does that - right or wrong - believes in what he says and can support it with conviction. Sarah has no conviction for anything other than herself and how to make the next buck with as little work and effort as possible. O'Reilly probably does not want to see his party get be highjacked by crazy nut jobs like Palin. He is willing to go far to the right, but not that far! ReplyDeleteFor those of you living outside of Alaska - some points of interest: Palin appeared much the same here in Alaska when serving as our 'half-term' governor. The only difference is that O'Reilly countered and pushed her. No one in the media here in Alaska would ever do that.
ReplyDeleteShe began doing press conferences in Juneau and Anchorage (as governor) and found she could not answer the questions regarding the workings of her own administration. So, to counter looking like an idiot, she then gave like conferences, but now surrounding herself with her commissioners. As questions were directed to Palin, she would not answer them but defer to the specific commissioner concerning the matter.
Getting bad press for that, she stopped giving press conferences.
The majority of the women in Alaska do not favor her new video concerning 'momma grizzlies'. She is not what she tries to project in any way, shape or form. People need to vet her life in Alaska - both business (won't call her 'professional') and personally. She was and is a disaster in many aspects. She is in no way qualified to be a mayor, governor, congress person, and much less the President of the United States.
Thank God we have President Obama and his administration handling and caring for us. Can you imagine Palin being involved with all the complex problems that President Obama is handling? There is no way. She doesn't hvae the heart and soul for it! And, I truly feel she should not be referred to as 'governor' as she quit and left Alaska in a mess!
Learn about her...vet her...check proof sources as to what she spews.

What Bill has managed to get Sarah to demonstrate is her absolute lack of knowledge and solutions to the very complicated issue of illegal immigrants. He lead her to her answers and she just kept agreeing with his solutions. Yet she still had no clear idea of just what is involved with handling the situation.

Seems to me those bullet points could fit on a political campaign ad against SP, were she to run, you betcha. After SP saying "don't reward bad behavior", BOR then pointed out that by letting the immigrants register and stay (she acknowledges there is an "expectation they will work" here), that this is rewarding bad behavior, so she then had to say deport them but then added, if they don't follow immigration reform steps. So is she for "no amnesty" or for immigration reform? Hard to say after all that.
Palin still think she can dazzle everyone with her looks and charms. That one wink is enough to reduce all around her to drooling teenage boys.

Come on, man... That was nothing. And without a doubt, even many many Republicans want to see her go through the ringer before they fully commit to going on board with her, and Fox knows this. These light "tough" interviews in fact help her because they serve that purpose for her potential constituents that are still a bit skeptical about her. Given more interviews that create the perception that "she can take it" and that "she knows her stuff" (remember, it doesn't take much to create the latter perception of her with Republicans who are desperate for someone like her being real), then the public image of her as someone who could be presidential is more fully rounded out. It WON'T get any tougher for her than this on Fox, and if it does, such future interviews will either be fully choreographed or she'll be well aware of the topics in advance.

He lets off no indication that he has any suspicion that she might be a phony (which she is, through and through)... not even a little bit, not even a little bit on a few issues. On the contrary, he frames her in the minds of the viewers as a possible "future president", and treats her as she has the possibility of being such. It's all in the subtle language, the insinuations put forth. Very little that goes into the things that elevate her are in what's directly said by her or to her by people on Fox.
It looks like Bill got your hopes up here, but in fact, he's elevated her. Fox may be dishonest to the core, but they're really not stupid.

Organized to support our troops, he says, "on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial." The rally is scheduled for Aug. 28 - 47 years to the day that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his magnificent "I Have a Dream" speech at the same location.
God forbid! It's outrageous that the National Park Service would even consider granting a talk show host permission to occupy that sacred site on that historic day. It's like granting al Qaeda permission to hold a "Hate America" rally at Ground Zero on Sept. 11.
Once I heard about it, I contacted the National Park Service (NPS), only to discover that, as is usually the case with Glenn Beck, he's not always telling the truth. Despite his nonstop promotion of the event, for example, Beck does not yet have a final permit for the rally. He may get it; he may not. According to Bill Line, communications officer for the NPS, negotiations are still under way. Meanwhile, Beck is inviting people to the rally, soliciting donations to help pay for it, and selling T-shirts and posters. Caveat emptor.
Nor would the rally, if approved, be held, as Beck insists, on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. It would be staged, instead, on the steps of the Reflecting Pool, in front of and across the service road from the structure - with, of course, the imposing memorial in the background.
Beck's not honest about supporting the troops, either. True, on the rally website, he solicits tax-deductible donations to the "Special Operations Warrior Foundation," an organization founded 30 years ago to raise funds for wounded members of the Special Forces and their families. Sounds good, until you read the fine print at the bottom of the website: "All contributions made to the SOWF will first be applied to the costs of the Restoring Honor Rally taking place on Aug. 28, 2010." Only leftover funds, after Beck pays for his party (and speaking fee?), will go to the troops.........

My most sincere wish is that they are kept off the Lincoln Memorial. I've been there and it is truly a mesmerizing monument. (Especially loved reading some of the things Lincoln said that are located on the walls near him.) Palin and Beck do not deserve to even be in Lincoln's shadow.
Al Sharpton and others will be there too, commerating MLK's very important day! Palin (who is anti blacks as well as Alaskan natives) does not deserve being in the presence of those black folks.

ReplyDeleteI think the majority of them come in and keep their heads down, take the job Americans don't want and work their asses off. Hard working non-Americans that are as patriotic as the people / corporations paying them under minimum wage.
As for her continuous meme on consequences for bad behavior or not rewarding bad behavior, god I hope the humiliating irony of her with her moral pants down is stinging and lasting.

ReplyDeleteIf this is what Sarah's early appearances were like, then her career would be dead. Because she looks less like her brand here - the chirpy, country, happy, hair flinging, winking, smiling, hockey mom, and more like her predecessors - folks like phyllis schlafly and others who carried the right wing battle flag for her gender, and of course like her contemporaries - bachman and coulter.
