From Hollywood Life:
Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston were on the verge of scoring a huge seven-figure reality TV show deal, but a major reality TV exec tells HollywoodLife.com that they completely walked away from the offer.
Our source, who has created and executive-produced several very highly-rated and well-known reality series in the last decae, reveals that a $1.5 million reality deal was on the table for Bristol and Levi. One stipulation from the producers who made the offer: The couple’s 19-month-old son, Tripp, had to be part of the show.
Once the offer was made we’re told, however, the couple “completely disappeared.”
It turns out the former couple was so close to sealing a deal that the reality TV producer sent an advnce producer to Anchorage, Alaska, in order to meet with Bristol and Levi. But as soon as the producer arrived, Bristol and Levi were nowhere to be found. Our source tells us Bristol and Levi “didn’t answer any calls” and it was “completely shocking” when the couple stopped communicating with him.
When I read that last part it was, in the immortal words of Yogi Berra, "Deja vu all over again."
That EXACT scenario has played out over an over again as people have attempted to make deals with Levi Johnston. Now this time it may have a much to do with the problems between Levi and Bristol, but that certainly was NOT the case during this last year when producers, potential authors, and talent agents found themselves leaving message, after message, with "Team Levi" and rarely, if ever, hearing back from them.
As hard as it may be to believe these days, there was a time when Levi Johnston was the hottest property this side of Sarah Palin. At one point last fall it seemed that everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY, wanted to take a meeting with Alaska's most famous sperm donor.
I remember sitting at meetings with Tank Jones and having our conversation interrupted repeatedly as reporters, and agents, and producers tried desperately to pitch their ideas for a chance to work with Levi. It was an amazing thing to behold.
What I did not realize at the time was that many of these people were NEVER going to get a call back.
You see for some reason, Rex and Tank never seem to have seriously considered allowing Levi to sign a book deal, or for that matter any contract for a movie or reality show. Why? To be honest, I'm not sure.
But here is what I do know. In November Dennis Zaki pitched an idea for a reality television show featuring Levi and his pals going on hunting trips all around Alaska in Rex's office the night after Sherry was sentenced.
They both expressed some interest, and Dennis went on to tell them that he had all of the film equipment that was needed, plenty of friends who would love to work as part of the crew, and enough contacts in the entertainment field to, at the very least, film and then pitch a pilot. However both of them were non-committal at that time.
Interestingly enough a few days later Tank called Dennis back into the office and suggested that instead of a show about Levi they get together and do a show based on him, called "Tank Jones PI". Dennis tried to get the conversation back to the topic of doing a show about Levi but Tank was adamant that they work on HIS show first. Dennis did do some preliminary research on the idea but Tank stopped returning his calls after awhile so consequently there was never any footage shot of a Levi Johnston hunting show OR the "Tank Jones snooping on cheating spouses" show.
Now earlier in the year I had been constantly badgering Tank about getting Levi a book deal, and I kept getting the run around. After Sarah signed her deal Tank acted like he finally wanted to get serious but kept saying that he wanted Levi to get about the same amount as they were paying Palin for her deal. At that time the rumor was that SHE was getting an 11 million dollar advance so I told Tank he was out of his mind thinking Levi could get anywhere near that kind of money.
However Tank kept insisting that publishers were calling and he would have a deal soon. Then he suggested that perhaps I would be willing to write a book about HIM. I told him I did not think his life was that interesting and that nobody would want to read it, but he insisted his life was full of fascinating stories about his work as a bodyguard, a nightclub owner, and a private investigator in Alaska. (He asked several other people I know to write his book as well, and I believe one of them was in serious talks to do just that at one time.)
Around September I realized that Tank was never going to get book deal for Levi on his own, so I suggested that maybe I could help. Tank said that if I had somebody in mind he would talk to them.
In fact I DID have somebody in mind and quickly called a friend of mine who was an author. I laid out the situation and she thought it was a great idea. I set up a meeting by phone and she and Tank really seemed to hit it off. He liked her and thought she would be great but said that we needed to convince Rex Butler as well.
Getting Rex on the phone to discuss the possible book deal was like pulling teeth so I decided to just show up at his office and make my pitch to him directly. I sat in their lobby and refused to leave until Rex met with me. He finally acquiesced and I sat down in his office, with Tank Jones in attendance, and laid out why THIS was the best possible book deal he would get for his client.
Rex said he was impressed with my presentation and agreed to speak with the author. I quickly set that up with their secretary and Rex spoke to the author a few times and aferward expressed his desire to proceed with her idea for the book. So the author had her agent e-mail Rex's office to write up a proposal, and everything suddenly changed. Rex simply ignored the e-mail and never got back to the agent.
WTF?
I called both Tank and Rex repeatedly to find out what the problem was, but kept getting the run around. Finally Tank said that Rex was nervous about signing a deal without first meeting the author in person. Having her fly up to Alaska seemed like a lot of money to spend if there was not a firm deal in place, so they compromised and agred to conduct a video conference so that they could speak face to face.
By all accounts the meeting went Very well and Rex and Tank were thrilled to begin working on the book as soon as possible. However they NEVER seemed to be sure when it would be a good time to have the author fly up to begin interviewing Levi. Rex always seemed to be too busy, and getting through to him was next to impossible. When I spoke to Tank he assured me that HE was totally on board and was only waiting for Rex to give his final okay to start work on the book.
Finally the author suggested that she just fly up and spend a few days up here to get a feel for the place and surely Rex and Tank would agree to set up a time for her to meet and interview Levi. I agreed that being aggressive seemed to be what worked with "Team Levi" so I encouraged her to come on up.
So in early December she flew up. She stayed at my house and together we set about attempting to get this book deal off of the ground.
We called both Rex and Tank and asked to meet with them. Nothing.
We sat in the lobby of Rex's office and waited for him a few minutes to meet. His secretary said he was just too busy that day and we left.
We offered to take them out to dinner after the office closed for a casual meeting. They did not return our phone calls or e-mails.
I had always had trouble getting through to Tank in the past, but eventually I could wear him down and he would answer his phone. But not this time.
Finally, after five days of unanswered phone calls and e-mails, Rex called and agreed to meet the author right before she was to board her plane to fly home.
We agreed to meet at the bar that he and Tank had recently opened up together called, oddly enough, "The Office". She and I arrived on time and Rex showed up about fifteen minutes later, and though Rex kept calling Tank and asking him to meet with us too, he never showed.
Rex apologized and claimed that he had not realized that the author was in town until just that morning despite our numerous phone calls and e-mails (And of course the fact that we had sat in his office lobby for twenty minutes to meet with him earlier that week.). He listened to the author's proposal and seemed interested, but afterward simply refused to commit to the project, saying that they expected Bristol to file for sole custody of Tripp at any minute and that they needed to focus on that issue first before they could concentrate on a book deal.
I guess it was about then that I realized that Rex had no intention of EVER really getting a book for Levi, because there was simply no way he was going to get a better deal than the one being offered that night. (WHY Levi could not start dictating a book while waiting for Van Flein to file custody papers has never made any sense to me.)
The author left to catch her flight and I sat with Rex for another fifteen minutes or so. I told him that I was confused by their behavior and reiterated that I only wanted to help Levi get his book deal. I said that I had no hidden agenda and that if my connection to the deal was an issue I would gladly stay completely out of it and let it happen with no input from me whatsoever. Rex assured me that he had no problem with me and that the reason that they were not quite ready to move forward was simply a matter of timing.
I left and have had no contact with Rex Butler since that night. I did e-mail Tank once to let him know that I was disappointed and that I thought he had been dishonest. I received only a partial e-mail in return, and have heard nothing since.
Now if you have read this far you are probably as baffled by what I have written as I was when it was happening.
Rex and Tank, as Levi's managers, receive 20% of anything that he makes. The book deal that was offered that night would have brought Levi a minimum of three million dollars. That would have provided the two of them at least $400,000 dollars to split. I know for a fact that NOTHING they have allowed Levi to do so far has been that profitable. So why in the hell would they NOT have jumped at that book offer? (By the way, just a few days before this author flew up to meet Tank and Rex I received an e-mail from a friend with very good contacts in the publishing business who told me this about Tank's supposed attempts to get Levi a book deal: "No publisher or agent I know in New York knows anything about it. No one I've talked to has even seen a book proposal from Levi.)
Now, as if that were not enough, I have recently learned that besides our deal, there was at least one other book deal brought right to Rex and Tank that ended in almost the exact same manner, as well as an offer from HBO that wanted to use Levi for a small part, and another offer for a reality show called "Wasilla". Yet according to my sources Tank and Rex did not pursue ANY of those projects on Levi's behalf.
And those are just the ones we know about!
So the question remains as to WHY Levi's "managers" would ignore these very legitimate and lucrative offers, and instead choose to let him "author" a Vanity Fair piece for virtually nothing, pose naked in Playgirl magazine for about a quarter of a million dollars, and make a pistachio commercial for a brand of nuts that nobody had ever heard of?
You know when Tank first mentioned having Levi pose for Playgirl I expressed my disapproval and said "Don't let Levi turn out to be Alaska's version of Kato Kaelin!"
At this point Kato Kaelin is probably sitting somewhere thinking "You know my life could always be worse, I could have ended up like Levi Johnston!"
P.S. Levi if you happen to read this, and as I suspect this is the first time you are hearing about some of these deals, contact your sister and I will gladly get you in touch with the people who told me these stories so you can hear from them yourself. Trust me, these were NOT fly by night operators trying to take advantage of you. These are real professionals who could have had a truly positive impact on your life and certainly your income.
I don't believe these offers will ever be available again but at least you will understand just what happened, and who was on your side and who was not.
Too bad Levi hooked up with these two losers. Nothing seems to have gone right for him since.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't rocket science.
ReplyDeleteFollow the money.
Rex and Tank are being paid to keep their client quiet. I'm sure you can guess by whom.
There isn't any other explanation. These money whores wouldn't refuse a dime from a homeless man.
Maybe their really working for Palin.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone determined if these 2 clowns are being paid off by Sarah to block all opportunities for Levi while pretending to help him? It seems pretty obvious to me, and why can't Levi see how horribly he's being treated and break ties with them? If they are so unprofessional and useless, how are they too busy to meet with people or answer calls, so who is "funding" this act?
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that makes sense of all this is that "Team Levi" is really on the payroll of "Team Sarah."
ReplyDeleteWell, but of course. How else would this scenario play itself out: boy, dumber than a rock but better looking than most ordinary mortals, inadvertently exposed to international media then set adrift by the people who used him, is sucked in by a couple of grifters who squeeze out of him what little their limited talents can envision, then drop him like the innocuous charm-free personality he is. Insert big ol' DUH here.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, Anonymous@5:11 may be on to something. . .
ReplyDeleteSounds like a bunch of amateurs who think they're big timers.
ReplyDeleteHmm, kinda like the Queen of Stupid herself...
It goes to show that they were way in over their heads also, too.
ReplyDeleteThey kept waiting for the bigger windfall, greener grass with another offer.
It smacks of a truly unprofessional operation. Just like Sarah in the aftermath of the VP epic fail - everyone wanted a piece of her and they couldn't even get anyone on the phone to work up those deals. I mean dills.
These guys are embarrassing. I feel so bad for Levi. If he and Bristol walked away from the show to protect their son, they've gained a grain of respect from us (the public.) If it is because they are all just big talk and half-assed - they deserve to lose.
Or maybe not paid off by SP and her people. Maybe Rupert and his people? To keep Levi busy yet not upsetting the applecart of SP "energizing the base" on the wrong side of every important issue. Hmmm?
ReplyDeleteIt's even more pathetic that Tank was pushing his own legend.
ReplyDeleteHe really thought he could bank his celebrity on Levi's coattails. . .Levi's. . .whose stardom would have only faded quickly like a shooting star.
Levi, that poor kid was outmatched and underrepresented the whole way.
Have you ever thought that maybe Levi didn't want to do these gigs? I personally don't trust Levi. I find it odd the way he treats his Mother and Sister. Something's not right about Levi.
ReplyDeleteYep, it sure smells like rats up there in Alaska... If Rex and Tank are getting paid elsewhere, and if by Palin, that is criminal.
ReplyDeleteThey have it in their power to railroad Levi big time, all they have to do is plant some drugs on the kid and bye, bye, Levi, off to prison where Sarah's old lover Hanson is the prison warden.
Please refresh our memories, Gryphen. Wasn't Rex the lawyer for Sherry and her drug trial before he became Levi's custody hearing lawyer? I seem to recall him bungling court appearances, failing to have papers filled out, meeting deadlines, not making an accounting of Levi's income, basic stuff.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the other posters who suggest that Rex may have been receiving something from Sarah to block Levi's chances at custody, fame, fortune, mostly fortune. VF pretty much striped Levi of any money that he had earned. They really did cut him off at the knees (or higher).
It is hard to believe that Levi would turn down a book deal that would have paid him millions, even one million. And, I cannot believe that Levi and Bristol turned down a serious chance at making $1.5 million dollars in reality TV. Having Tripp appear in the segments wouldn't have been a problem. Bristol used him in her TV appearances and magazine spreads. No, they were no shy about using him before.
Gryphen, are the rumors true that Bristol is pregnant, and that is the reason that Mama Grizzly has hid Bristol in the cave (the same way that Bristol had mono and disappeared before Trig was born). If Bristol is pregnant, and she said that she and Levi weren't doing it, they did it. And, that doesn't sell Sarah's family values. I also think that Sarah wanted to control them. They didn't have a chance at their own lives or their own TV series. Sarah gets all of the attention in her family, and she does all the talking. Sorry kids, you were both set up and played.
This is one of the few times I don't believe one word of what I just read. Call me biased. ::shrug::
ReplyDeleteAnd how about some very scary threats thrown in? If the oil co people and Rupert Murdoch and his gang want Levi kept out of the way, they would stop at nothing to make sure that happens. And Tank and Rex may be playing along, not upsetting these very scary people, for now. Maybe getting $$ from them for the moment, as well, but mostly trying to wait out this nightmare.
ReplyDeleteMy contention is that SOMEONE, somewhere, has got to come forward with tangible proof of at least one of Sarah Palin's misdeeds or lies. Until that happens, none of these parties - or the MSM, or the not-so-MSM - are going to go after her with their full power. Period.
There's a stalemate at work and it's not going to change until someone has the courage to do the right thing. We can all lament this until we're blue in the face, and it will just keep on keepin' on. Nightmare without end.
I think Levi is ultimately a good kid -- just happened to boink the wrong girl at the wrong time.
ReplyDeleteHe needs to trust someone outside the Palin payroll bubble if he's ever going to be able to make it. I actually am beginning to feel sorry for the guy. He's getting screwed SO badly.
-soapydog
Weren't there some suspiciously vague payments for 'consultants' that came out of SarahPAC?
ReplyDeleteTo ignore the opportunity to make money for your client is, at the very least, unprofessional. It also tends to make one think that even more money was being acquired somewhere else.
Hmmmmmmm.....
Having a crooked lawyer is a good thing unless he's working against you. Levi's day for making anything is gone. Who would have any faith in Levi after he admitted he lied about Palin. These 2 clowns sold him out to Palin and now he's done. We must get the word out on how Rex and Tank work for their clients and ruin their reputation. Palin no longer has to pay them for nothing so I hope they got enough from her to last. Maybe Palin will expose them on a ethics violation.
ReplyDeleteEasy. SarahPac pays the flea and the flea pays the rats to keep Levi quiet. Its a racket.
ReplyDeleteThanks for trying so hard to try to get the book deal together on behalf of Levi and the truth. I'm sorry your efforts were wasted. I'm disappointed in Levi, but he is a kid, and let's face it, not very bright. Let's hope he ditches these guys and gets some professional help, especially since it looks like the custody battle is going to start all over again. I don't think they were paid off by Palin. I think they were just greedy, self-serving and incompetent. They had control over the golden goose and overplayed their hand.
ReplyDeleteDid you see that the trailer trash romance has replaced Chelsea Clinton's wedding at People? I will not buy that magazine again.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds to me like each one of those two dirty bastards were paid a million dollars from Sarah, in cash, no taxes, no paper trail, no nothing! Lousy a-holes!
ReplyDeleteThey are not going to pass up the 20% unless somebody is paying them 25% to do nothing.
ReplyDeleteAgree with Anon@5:32 PM.
ReplyDeleteGiven their inability to provide even a modicum of professional assistance with the custody and child support issue, this is all starting to look like they are paid by someone associated with Sarah. There was absolutely no reason that Levi shouldn't have been able to see his son for months at a time unless his attorney was working against him. There has to be a money trail to those paying these two yahoos to block Levi. I no longer care about Levi, but I do care about the puppet masters behind the scenes. I assume Rex and Tank don't have other clients given their incompetence. If that is the case, who provides their income? This is a bigger story than we think. These two seem quite opportunistic so why wouldn't they jump on each and every money deal that came his way, especially the more lucrative ones? I think they were instructed that he only do things that would make him appear the buffoon, i.e. Playgirl.
ReplyDeleteFinally, it seems as if the sole custody issue developed rather conveniently to allow a quick exit to avoid the book deal.
I agree with most people here on this thread - Tank and Rex are being paid off by the Palins to keep Levi from making book or reality show deals. There is no other plausible explanation.
ReplyDeleteLevi - seriously, get a clue. These guys have cost you millions. Palin is playing you like a fiddle - when will you realise who your real family are?
There is no way these money whores would have refused even a 5 figure deal, let alone 6. It's just that simple - they are no friend to Levi, whatever Palin is paying, it's gotta be substantial. They have led him astray (with not much effort it would seem) for a long time. Makes no sense that Rex wouldn't have filed for custody of Tripp, none what so ever. The co-parent thing is just a way to keep Levi tied to Bristol. If he doesn't look out - he may end up in more hot water.
My god. I kept wondering when Levi would finish his book.
ReplyDeleteI get a sick feeling that Butler and Jones were being paid off by SP or one of her minions to string along Levi until she found some way to discredit him. Mission Accomplished.
Levi, you blockhead. I would pity him, except he was so willing to cut Mercede and his mom out of his life at Bristol's bidding for money and sex.
This is kind of off the topic at hand but this is what I think happened with the engagement-on again, engagement-off again drama: Bristol got her period. There would be no need for the "shotgun wedding" and all was right with the Palin world again, also, too or whatnot.
ReplyDeleteI guess Bristol won't need to take off a few months and go traveling with her son afterall.
When I was a grievance rep for my union, I quickly learned that members who came to me didn't always tell the whole story. They weren't lying or intentionally distorting. They just related some facts and left out others. It's how they saw things. When I talked to the person they complained about other facts came to light which sometimes radically changed the case.
ReplyDeleteSo Gryph has told us his story and I commend him for doing so. My concern is with how the commenters have jumped to the conclusion that Palin is paying off Tank Jones and Rex Butler. It's a possibility, but at this point it would require a lot more evidence than we have here. There are also reasons why such a payoff is unlikely.
For one, if Butler was found to be intentionally hurting his client because he was on the take from Palin, he'd lose his license as an attorney, and he makes a good living off that license.
There are other possible explanations. Tank was in over his head. They had too many irons in the fire and didn't have enough time to do anything well. There's Grpyph's suggestion that Tank was trying to get himself promoted. There's the possibility they didn't think much of Gryph as a national deal maker. Or they thought they could get more. If they were taking 20% of Levi's income, they had a vested interest in getting him good deals. Or they just couldn't make a decision.
There isn't enough evidence here to jump to the conclusion that the Palin team has gotten to Bulter and Jones.
It's a remote possibility not to be discarded yet, but it is premature to say, like Anonymous (5:05pm) did, "There isn't any other explanation." (Yes, Anon has a right to voice his opinion, but I have the right to question it too.)
I do credit Gryph for raising these points and challenging how well Tank Jones is representing Levi's interests. He raises some serious issues that he has personally witnessed and publicly challenging an attorney takes guts.
The fact that he can cite several instances, with names, of people who had their pitches for Levi redirected by Tank to focus on Tank is for me the most significant part of the post. If that could be proven about an attorney, he'd face disciplinary action, possibly even lose his license. Luckily for Tank he's not an attorney.
We already know that Rex and Levi share a monied account. I'm going to assume Levi pays all bills from this account...or could it be something else. Also does every penny Levi earn get deposited....perhaps there is a DBA established. Anyone? I am sure the state has a listing of all corporations and their tax id #.
ReplyDeleteIf these offers can be documented and Levi was never consulted about them by his "team," he might have a pretty darn good cause of action against Rex. Unless Levi gave him specific instructions he didn't want to hear about the offers, then Rex has a professional responsibility to verify those offers, get the details and present them to Levi. Rex could lose his license and be personally liable for the potential of the losses.
ReplyDeleteI hope people kept copies of emails, ticket stubs, proposals, et cetera. Levi needs to get a different attorney who can look into this and lodge complaints and a lawsuit against Rex if these allegations can be verified.
Is there an independent Alaskan attorney who isn't afraid of the Palins or Murdoch?
I think a new attorney could also find a way to research the funding of that club Rex & Tank opened. They should have to prove independent financing. They also must prove that they kept Levi's earnings separate from their own personal or professional accounts. They have a fiduciary duty to Levi. If they broached that duty, they are liable big time as would be anyone who was in collusion with them (Sarah, you might start double-checking your tracks.)
Gryphen,
ReplyDeleteAny more news on where Trig came from and where he's being warehoused currently? He looked more like Levi than Tripp ever did.
Gryphen, thanks for your efforts in trying to smooth the way for Levi's book. To watch "Team Levi" drop ball after ball must have been maddening. I appreciate that you are willing to work behind "enemy lines" in order to blog first hand reports from the field.
ReplyDeleteYour insight is far more valuable than our arm chair quarterbacking on the issue. What do you think? Extreme incompetence or purposeful misconduct to derail Levi's chances of exposing Sarah.
ReplyDeletethere are two companies that Rex Butler is the registered agent: here
ReplyDeleteSo I'm guessing the second company
Three King's Inc. may be the company account for earnings... Would Butler have other entertainment clients?
Thank you for confirming my suspicions.
ReplyDeleteRex and Tank were in the tank for Team $arah.
It is now so painfully obvious it is sickening. Maybe some ethical attorney will sue these assholes on behalf of Levi.
When will this nightmare end? I've lost all hope unless someone has the balls to come forward and I don't think that will be happening anytime soon. Sigh.
The Lawyer's Negligence & Legal Malpractice
ReplyDeleteA lawyer can be held responsible in a legal malpractice lawsuit for causing you damage if you can show four things:
* The lawyer had a duty to represent you with the knowledge, resources, time and energy that is reasonable to present a fair case (standard of care).
* The lawyer is not fulfilling that duty.
* Because the lawyer did not fulfill that duty you were injured.
* The injury actually occurred, which includes losing money, going to jail, emotional distress, or having your case thrown out of court.
You need all four of these elements for a lawyer to be held responsible for his/her negligence in a legal malpractice lawsuit.
If Gryphen's account is accurate, then Rex failed to represent his client, Levi, adequately, even refusing to meet with an author where the real prospect of a book deal was at stake. Damages: Levi didn't get the book deal.
Rex also was unprepared in representing Levi in his custody hearings with Bristol.
I suggest that Levi find a really good lawyer who is willing to sue Rex Butler for malpractice. If Levi could have had a $3 million dollar deal, then those are serious damages. A good lawyer might take a third to fifty percent of the judgment, leaving some nice money for Levi to get his life together. Levi, do it!
I've been involved with one direct legal matter involving Rex Butler as the opposing attorney. Believe me when I say that this particular lawyer has no regard for the truth. He goes where the money leads. And if big money is not involved and the opposing parties are of different races, he characterizes the legal proceedings as being all about the indignities suffered by the African American race when this absolutely positively is not part of the equation. He's scum.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why and how Sherry Johnston got involved with him in the first place.
Sounds like Levi -- hurting, naive, trusting, vulnerable -- got taken in big time. The apparent betrayal is disgusting.
ReplyDeleteThis does add a whole new layer of intrigue to Levi's story...if only you or someone else can get through to him and he gets help digging out from under this apparent mess.
I have a sinking feeling there could be something funky behind the handling of Sherry's legal case, too.
Wow. If all this is true, then truly nothing at all makes sense when the Palin family is involved. Why isn't anything about them straightforward, normal, easy to follow and understand? I just don't get it. I can't even keep track of all the bizarre twists and contradictions having to do with the recent engagement and break up. Do they just keep sending out smokescreens and noise so that no one can ever figure out what they are doing?
ReplyDeleteI'm confused why you were trying to broker any of these deals for Levi. Would you have had a financial interest if any of these deals if they were finalized?
ReplyDeleteRex and Tank only had to profit from these offers. Yes, they sound like idiots, but there was money involved, that would be easy for them. I suspect the real reason is Levi. Why wasn't Levi at this author meeting? Come to think of it, why wasn't he at court that time for his custody hearing? The kid sounds like a flake and my guess is Tank and Rex knew that. I bet they knew they couldn't nail Levi down and found it futile. Sad, really.
ReplyDeleteTo learn more about the links that some people will go to in order to protect a politician, I would encourage everyone to research the story of the late James Hatfield, author of "Fortunate Son" an unauthorized biography of George W. Bush.
ReplyDeleteHere's a link to Amy Goodman's interview with James Hatfield -
http://www.democracynow.org/2003/8/11/democracy_now_premieres_the_full_interview
Please read about the efforts to stop the book from being published, and the threats against the author who allegedly committed suicide. Hatfield had been in prison on charges related to a business deal gone wrong. He was trying to rehabilitate himself by writing this book which contained some very scandalous stories about GW.
Hatfield insisted that Rove himself gave him some of the most damaging information. You might ask, why would Rove ever do that ? If it's true , the motivation could be to put the worst information out through a source that could be very easily discredited. It wouldn't even be necessary to refute the gist of rumors, only to discredit the author. Then the scandals would become radioactive and no journalist would ever touch them. Does that sound familiar ? Who would believe Levi after his apology ?
Let's not be too harsh on Levi. He is up against powerful forces and it's not over yet.
I see it did not take long for people start pondering the idea that Rex and Tank were in Palin's pocket. Believe me I have wondered about that for quite some time as well.
ReplyDeleteHowever I have no actual evidence to suggest that is true.
As for whether Levi has a case for legal malpractice against Rex, I think that is indeed very possible. The idea that Rex turned down the deal proffered by my author friend in order to take better one, would hold water ONLY if Levi had in fact signed a different book deal. As we all know, he has not, and is not, writing a book.
Therefore the two legitimate book deals that I have personal knowledge of were given a pass, and nothing else seems to have replaced them. Which seems to indicate that Rex had no intention of having Levi write a book. Or that Levi himself never really intended to write a book, and was only threatening to do so in order to scare Sarah Palin.
Does anybody see a flaw in that logic?
Given all this information, I also assume Levi was duped into his 'I was lying' statement.
ReplyDeleteAgain, it looks like Levi was used by Sarah and Bristol. He apologized for making statements that were probably mostly true. And he allowed Bristol's spitefulness to put a wedge between himself and his family.
ReplyDeleteIf Bristol is indeed pregnant again, they also needed Levi to appear to be the father. That way it doesn't look like Bristol was sleeping around, but rather had a romantic encounter in an attempt to reconcile her relationship with the father of her son.
I would assume that Rex would profit from any book deal he set up for Levi, so it makes no sense that he would turn away the opportunity to make money...unless he was being well-paid by someone else (such as Sarah) to refuse such deals.
Levi, it's NOT too late to write that book, you know.
OT -but this was too funny.
ReplyDeleteStory on HuffPo that release of Pres. Bush's new book has been pushed back to one week AFTER the elections. A commenter left this:
Foreword by Sarah :
“I am pleased and honored and honored and pleased by the honor because it is a pleasure in writing the foreword forwardly to the best book ever written by a great man who was a man and the best president ever made of these United States and who had the courage to refudiate all the lib lies from the lamestream media didn’t ya’ George?"
does anyone remember when Levi was working out for the Playgirl spread and he hired a personal trainer? Guess who that personal trainer was? None other than Tanks's brother. They are draining this kid. Tank and Rex are low life!!
ReplyDelete"Or that Levi himself never really intended to write a book, and was only threatening to do so in order to scare Sarah Palin."

Or Levi only threatened to write a book to scare or appear to scare Palin because he was advised to do so by his attorney. And the reason for that advice would be ____???
7:36,
ReplyDeletethat's EXACTLY what happened to dan rather with the killian letter. i suspect a forgery was made that actually contained the truth and it was leaked to rather. he was discredited when it came to light that it was likely a forgery and viola, the truth was sanitized. the interesting part, and telling, is that, in an interview, killian's secretary, marion knox, confirmed that the letter was probably a forgery, but the contents of the letter were factual. google dan rather killian letter secretary and you'll find several links. i think the cbs site has the transcript of the interview with marion knox.
G, nothing adds up and nothing makes sense. that's how we know sarah palin is playing another manipulative game. i feel sorry for her family and husband. what a crappy life they have. no amount of bling can undo the damage inflicted by a psycho.
ReplyDeleteRex and Tank knifed Levi while taking 20% of the little money Levi did earn. This is Palin's biggest hit job to date. Levi's on the outs with his family, probably lost any shared custody with his kid, Bristol he only thought he had, his best friend is gone, nice girl friends are gone, no education, no job, no prospects, probably broke and on and on. The Red Bulls are flowing at the Palin compound tonight. Call Joe and find out what he sees over there.
ReplyDeletea smokescreen that gives cover for Bristol to announce her pregnancy..let get back to the real focus of bringing Palin down..
ReplyDeleteAs a lawyer, I just have a hard time believing that a lawyer would violate a fiduciary duty to a client by failing to convey legitimate opportunities and offers.
ReplyDeleteSo until evidence is shown to me to the contrary, I just have to believe that for whatever reason Levi was not interested in these offers.
But, of course, only Levi knows for sure.
P.S. Why would anyone be offering him big bucks for a book unless he knew something about Babygate? Otherwise his story is pretty worthless and uninteresting.
I don't believe there was an offer.
ReplyDeleteIs Tank an attorney or just a big guy in an expensive outfit looking like an entourage for a white boy?
ReplyDeleteAsk other attorneys about Rex and see how they think of Rex as a lawyer. I asked my personal lawyer years ago about Rex and he spoke of his gold "grill"-- he said grill with finger quotes. Is that on his car? Nothing about his lawyer capabilities, and he said he won the case with little effort.
Levi reminds me of Anna Nicole Smith. Too bad they didn't meet up and splash around in their shallowness.
Maybe Levi needs to steal Heidi Montag from Spencer Pratt-- the insecure Bristol is so shallow that Ms. Montag would be a step up!
Over the 20 years that I've followed him in the local news, Rex Butler has always been a total sleazebag attorney. He reminds me of Johnny Cochrane during the O.J. Trial, or, more appropriately maybe, the black attorney on "Seinfeld" who was satirically modeled after Cochrane. (Suing on Kramer's behalf over too-hot coffee).
ReplyDeleteHe's drawn to the limelight like a moth to flame, and as someone commented above, he's all flash, no professionalism. He is the kind of lawyer that makes real lawyers cringe.
Right now the only thing that I can think is that both of those kids Bristol and Levi need individual therapeutic help. This has been too much too fast with so much gained and lost in such a little time. They live in a place of no trust for anybody, anywhere. Bristol might not have access to help, but Levi can get some counseling. I really hope he reaches out instead of spiraling downward.
ReplyDeleteOh, come on. You're telling me that none of you saw this coming? Big, heroic Rex Butler swoops in to the rescue for poor little Sherry Johnston, what, out of the goodness of his heart? Please.
ReplyDeleteThese guys saw an opportunity to use Levi to enrich themselves. That's it. They're not in it for Palin or anybody but themselves. They wanted their own fame. Can't let Levi get so big that they can't control him.
Do I think the Levi team was in the former half gov.'s pocket... No.
ReplyDeleteBeing young & seeing all the $$$ the Palins were raking in, its more likely that Levi rejected a potential book offer with hopes of a better deal down the road. He may get it when he matures a few years & can reflect honestly on the Palin/Johnston family relationship.
If a book offer comes now - it may be more of a Palin Rant rather than an accurate account of the family dynamics.
Does that make sense?
Good comment Steve @ 6:21
Some people are saying that it is the powers that be at Fox who are behind the curtain, pulling all of the strings. They seriously have to control Sarah's image, and having a reality show with Bristol and Levi is something that they couldn't stand. Loose cannons. And, there is that family values image, too.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with anon 7:36 that there are very powerful forces at work here. Sarah may issue the orders, but someone is telling Sarah what to do. And, Sarah is very good at manipulating and controlling both Bristol and Levi. We saw it from the moment she outed Bristol on a national stage and dragged poor Levi into the mix.
There was a documentary made about Hatfield (author of a tell-all about George W. Bush, "Fortunate Son"). It aired briefly on HBO. If you are interested in learning more, the special was called "Horns and Halos" and it can be viewed on line. It is no understatement to say that the people who wanted to keep the book from being published drove Hatfield to suicide. It is no small comfort that the book is available on Amazon, from one cent to $3.75.
I have watched how Levi has been broken, too. From the first reports about the custody hearings, it looked as if Sarah's lawyer, Van Flein, was going to drain Levi of every penny. They were going to break him, the way they also broke Trooper Wooten (and how many others?) Sadly, Rex did not defend his client very well, and he did not look after Levi's interests. Levi should have always had shared custody-- it's still not too late for a DNA test!
The comments are interesting. But what believe is that the whole thing may be much more simpler than what many are making it out to be. It may simply be that Levi's legal representation was less than top notch and it cost him big time. It could also be that Levi really didn't want to engage in legal battles because he still wants to be with Bristol. The Palins may be ruthless, but even with that and all the help she gets for her puppet masters, she can't pay everybody off and she can't control everybody, either. Maybe we are just watching a family so dysfunctional that boggles the mind.
ReplyDeleteAt any rate, I also take exception with the comment regarding Johnny Cochran (may he rest in peace). Regardless of what others may think, Mr. Cochran had a very impressive winning record and was not sloppy in his representation of his clients. He delivered. The same can not be said, obviously, for Levi's representation.
Let me get this straight now:
ReplyDeleteRex Butler was Mrs. Johnston's lawyer, and she ended up with a harsh sentence for a first time offense, while Diana Palin got a slap on the wrist for breaking/entering/robbery for drug money (and had her small child with her)?
Rex Butler, not a family law expert, represented Levi in the custody hearings for his son, and Levi had some $1,800/ month child support judgment against him?
Rex Butler is Levi's personal lawyer who dodged and ducked chances for book deals and such for his client?
Something just doesn't add up in this whole sordid picture. Whose payroll is Rex Butler really on?
we all know that "anonymous" is the same person.Duh!!!
ReplyDeleteI see a perfect opportunity for an investigative journalist to look into this situation.
ReplyDeleteJust for starters, serious concerns have already been raised here: Are Rex Butler and Tank being paid off by Sarah Palin? What is the Van Flein/SarahPac role in all of this? Is Levi Johnston himself colluding in a scam? Has Butler been looting Levi's joint account?
The most disturbing fact, as some commenters have pointed out, is that Levi appears to be the victim in these unsavory circumstances--he's unemployed and lacks a high-school education, he's estranged from his mother and sister at the behest of the Palins, he is obligated to make exhorbitant child-support payments each month (to the teenage, possibly pregnant daughter of a multi-millionaire, who's now living with her parents and who's allegedly taking "time off to travel"??!!). Moreover, his shady attorney has prevented him from taking advantage of potentially lucrative offers and making a living.
Something is clearly wrong with this picture.
Gryphen, I think you and your author friend(s) should utilize contacts in the publishing industry and write your own "Levi book."
well there's only one thing I can say with certainty. letting your 19 year-old client get saddled with $1750 child support payments when he has no job and no job prospects is some of the shittiest lawyer-ing I have ever seen. could you imagine having to write a check to this guy when he's done such a seriously bad job? if this case is reflective of his other work, it seems that HE should be paying his clients to work for them.
ReplyDeleteFor everyone harping on Levi, they need to remember that he is just a kid. He knows nothing about deals, and lawyers, and politics, and Hollywood. He's a boy. And he's been played.
ReplyDeleteHe needs to learn from his own mistakes and turn over a new leaf. He should start with his mother and sister. He needs to make a sincere and heartfelt apology to his mom, and pledge to be there for her. Sadie should not have to take 100% responsibility for all the adult business.
Next - he needs to square his bill with Rex and Tank and then fire them. I have no doubt that Sherry can give him better advice until he can find a new lawyer, and I also think Gryphen can help him to accomplish that.
Next he needs to take his GED exam. If he got as far as jr or sr year, he should be able to pass it. Now he'll be ready to get a job, an apprenticeship, or enroll in some college classes.
Focus Levi. Focus on Levi. You got too much on your plate to be playing games with the Palins. Drop the pipe dreams. Get your life in order before you start the fight all over again for Tripp. Take care of yourself and your Mom first. Show Sadie you can be there for her.
Play by the rules and they'll work for you in the end. And when people see you're serious about acting like a grownup, you just may get a good book deal after all.
But don't ever put that book before your mother. She needs you.
No matter what amount of sleazebag Rex may be, I do not believe the incompetence theory because no one capable of passing the bar could ever be that incompetent. How much competence does it take to return a couple of phone calls? No, I see endless stalling.
ReplyDeleteAnd it all makes sense now, going all the way back to the lousy way he handled Sherry's case. He's on Palin's payroll and he should be sued.
I know it's been thrown into this comment pool but let me say I too believe they are on a secret retainer with the Palins who are BEGGING for them to help Levi get deals that paint him as a gigolo. How better to ensure your daughter gets sole custody AND a bangin' child support check? How better to illustrate how righteous your family is compared to the Johnstons? They're on the take. For sure. And the damage they have done so far might be too much for him to recover from. If he can, he should cut bait and start looking for an agent OUTSIDE of Alaska. He and Mercede could have one hell of a reality show. If the Kardasians can do it, so can the Johnstons.
ReplyDeleteT-minus 10 minutes before another Bristol headline announces, "'Oops! I did it again.' Bristol conceives during brief engagement to first baby daddy. Swears celebacy starting...NOW!" More babies, more childsupport. She's her mother's daughter.
Just a question are there any lawyers in Alaska who isn't paid off by the Palins? Couldn't Levi have found a better attorney? Honestly it's a shame what has happened to this very immature and naive boy. He threw himself and his family under the bus and for what. The best thing for him is to fight for custody of his child, get back with his family and fall back into obscurity. Sorry Levi your 15 minutes of fame is gone. You don't want to be a Wasilla White Trash Fame Whore like your ex-to-be-in-law Sister Sarah!!!
ReplyDeleteHMT
I agree Levi has had poor advice from Rex, perhaps due to intervention from Sarah. But also Levi seems LAZY, no GED & no goals, no checking on offers himself, no get up & go to write a book.
ReplyDeleteThink he still hoped to be with Bristol, if for no other reason than the gravy train. He seems too passive & laid back, to sit up & take charge of his own life.
So while I feel sorry for him, because he has been naive, he has also been remiss in not focusing on his own future & livelihood. If you cannot fight for yourself, then it's hard to be a success.
If Rex was really as incompetent as he appears, it would not be hard to get an appointment with him because he’d have no clients. No one would put up with that kind of inept and unprofessional behavior from their lawyer, unless they were hopelessly naïve. And no lawyer/agent would ignore a $3 million deal for their client, or an offer from HBO, unless they had a better offer - for themselves that is.
ReplyDeleteIf it wasn’t clear before, just based on the fact that Levi does not have joint custody of Tripp or even court ordered visitation rights, there is no doubt now that these clowns are on Sarah’s payroll, and probably have been from the beginning. Mercede wrote on her blog a while back describing how Rex betrayed her mother’s trust while she was in prison, leaving Mercede high and dry to fend for herself. That was really sickening, and should have been enough to make Levi realize they were scumbags. The fact that he still believes their bullshit and they are still representing him after everything that has happened, confirms that he’s is a lost cause.
For all we know, Rex and Tank may have been the source for the NE story. Rex had no problem lying to another tabloid about talking to Lanesia, implying there was a possibility that Levi was the father of her baby. He was able to smear both of them, without anyone being the wiser. How many people read your blog compared to that other tabloid, which we know will not be issuing a retraction? Even I was fooled into thinking Levi must have told Rex that he and Lanesia had slept together, or he would never make a statement like that regarding his own client.
It’s ironic that we have heard from everyone about this now, except Levi. I’m sure his handlers have told him it’s best to let them take care of everything. I hope he knows the PIN for that joint bank account.
I’m curious though, why you didn’t tell Levi about any of this before, especially when they put the kibosh on that book deal. You invested a lot of time and effort to try and make that happen for him. Didn’t you think it was strange that he wasn’t involved in any of the discussions? Did Rex or Tank ask you not to talk to him about it?
Gryphen, thank you for your efforts to get the book deal -- and please thank the author for flying in and attempting to talk to Levi's "representatives."
ReplyDeleteFrom what I read of the court documents that Rex filed for Levi, it was pretty obvious that he is incompetent. His writing skills are frighteninly weak, his arguments lack logic, and his presentation skips important facts.
Instead of using Rex for the custody hearing (is it still scheduled for Sept?), Levi should be suing him for all the time he has missed being in his son's life due to poor representation (unless, maybe, Levi didn't want court-ordered scheduled visiting?).
People above have mentioned that Rex would want to represent his client honestly in order to protect his license. However, if Palin is paying Rex, he is probably receiving more than he would make in a lifetime of working as an attorney.
Gryphen, it's very evident to me that you were working way too hard with zero results for there to NOT have been significant pushback from team Levi and even Levi himself. I don't believe it's total bungling or that they didn't have time. They were stringing you along because they wanted to do things their way, and basically humored you.
ReplyDeleteI think their strategy was to not burn their bridges, and keep all options open even while they seriously considered only their own ideas. No reason to alienate anybody, it's not good business or good politics. I'm sure they did the same thing with team Bristol - not alienate until such time came (like a tell all book) that it was absolutely necessary.
So they kept all options open, all the time. Rex and Tank had Levi in their ear as well, and what Levi really wanted none of us know, because he's a big fat liar. Whatever he wanted he only told his agents so that they would consider his preferences when negotiating deals. And I'll bet what he told them was that he was reluctant to do a tell-all book trashing the Palins because it would be putting his eggs all in one basket and once that info went public, his ability to obtain joint custody and/or frequent visits to see his son would be hampered, as well as any future money making deals associated with the Palin clan, who let's face it, are the reason for his celebrity to begin with. So I think Levi's continued connection with the Palins was Levi's idea, I don't ever think his first preference was to go with the tell-all book, otherwise it would have been already on store shelves. I don't think he really wanted to trash them and he also may have had doubts about his ability to dredge up real proof, something other than naked gossip.
So onto plan B. What if Levi could get it all - co-parenting Tripp, future money making deals associated with the Palins, and present-day celebrity gigs for himself which would bring in the bucks, without doing the book. What if he could get his cake and eat it too?
Well, it nearly happened. He reconnected with Bristol and gave her the pitch - we'll get back together, it will profit us both and benefit Tripp. The reality show idea based on Bristol and Levi was in the works, and it was time to rehabilitate their images and begin setting up smaller gigs before the show. So they sold their engagement to the mags, and got a good buzz going. That part with mama Palin not approving was crap, she knew and she approved, because it would help get her daughter off the Sarah dole, and bring Levi back into the fold thereby eliminating a political threat. Everything was good to go, the only remaining chore for Levi, which I'm sure was stipulated, was that he had to officially close the book, per se, on the tell all story by publicly apologizing. He did so, went "all in" with the Palins and everything was set.
Of course after that, it quickly derailed. Why, we won't truly know. Obviously minor crap like Levi dating other girls during the breakup period is not the reason. And Levi would not be stupid enough to do that music video while a fortune is to be made elsewhere, unless either a) Bristol was ok with it, or b) The engagement/reality show ALREADY derailed at that point and Levi jumped quickly back into a solo career.
PS: btw, I think the Wasilla reality show was an excellent idea, it would have been a fantastic show, with parts for Levi, Mercede and her mother, ex girlfriends and various Wasilla characters, including Rex and Tank. But maybe it was too small of a part for Levi and the bucks they wanted were not there. But that show would have succeeded. No question.
Maybe it's a sign that America is finally sick of exploitive, cynical reality-TV programming that elevates uninteresting, untalented and unworthy individuals to 'stardom' in the greedy quest for low-cost, high profit entertainment for the couch-bound masses? Nah, I didnt think so....
ReplyDeleteIt's extremely difficult to mourn our lost opportunity to see the true life boring story of two sad kids from Alaska who peaked before they were 20. And it's even harder to feel badly that those kids failed to profit from what is essentially John McCain's extended middle finger to middle America.
Let's step back and consider 2 issues. When Sherry was busted, had she been selling her medications, or was the sting which resulted in her arrest the only time she considered selling pills to meet her household expenses? When Rex stepped in, could it had been to get her to plea guilty, whereas a public defender might have gotten her off all together?
ReplyDeleteSecond, Tank became Levi's bodyguard. At the time, this was deemed necessary. Was it really? Why? Or was Tank necessary to keep Levi "in line."
The fact that these two stepped forward in itself, especially since Sherry had no income or resources, is significant.
Once Sherry was arrested, she was threatened with the worst possible outcome, and probably never offered the possibility of pleading innocent. (I suspect neither Sherry nor Mercede would want to comment on these issues.)
Are there any reputable attorneys who would currently pick up both cases?
How about John Edwards (ha ha!) - but I bet he could get to the truth of the matter, though I suspect John himself was, at least initially, set up, too.
I don't believe a word of this.
ReplyDeleteLevi always has the ability to fire Rex and Tank if he thinks he's being had.
Don't believe everything you read in the tabloids, or from Hollywood types.
I hadn't realized until this morning that Tank Jones is also a private investigator. Mercedes last posting regarding Lanesia...Bristol's lame excuse for knowing Lanesia had been at Mercede's home.
ReplyDeleteI thought it made sense that Todd had a P.I. on the payroll but what if Team Levi was watching Mercede/Sherry and reporting their comings and goings to ??? After all there was that statement in the ADN about Mercede's blog not speaking for Team Levi.
How weird this whole thing is.
Lawyers can be sued for malpractice and I think Levi should sue them. We had to sue a real estate lawyer. He ended up in jail on an embezzlement charge so we didn't get anything, but he was found guilty.
ReplyDeleteYep....either team Levi is being paid off by team palin (or sarahpac) or rex butler is the stupidest lawyer in Alaska.
ReplyDeleteIn either case...he shoud lose his license. Poor Levi isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. But hopefully he'll get some real representation. Gain proper visitation rights, and sell a book. I bet Kathy griffin knows zome ACTUAL lawyers
A couple of things.
ReplyDeleteSomebody asked why I did not tell Levi what was happening. I tried.
However the only way to get access to Levi was through Tank. Tank was constantly changing Levi's cell number so people could not talk to him without consent and part of Levi's deal with Rex and Tank prohibited him from talking to ANY reporter without Tank's okay.
I attempted to circumvent these barriers by telling Sadie and her mom what had taken place (Mercede first reached out to me in December), but when THEY brought it up he refused to listen and said that Tank and Rex had it all figured out.
I think Bristol and Levi cooked up the reality show themselves. Sarah found out and went balistic. Sarah gave Bristol a "come to Jesus" meeting, Bristol lost the condo, got sent to yet another aunt far far away. Too bad Bristol doesn't have the cajones to tell her mother to f#%$ off and break free and live her own life with her 1,2,3, kids.
ReplyDeleteGryphen, You are a gifted writer. You have tons of fans, and I would love to see you write a book, or a screen play. You have a flair for the dramatic, and a compelling personal history (what you have revealed of it so far on this blog.) I wish YOU would write a book!
ReplyDeleteBristol learned well from her GRISLY MAMA. She suckered Levi into another fake engagement just long enough for a few photo ops a betrayal of his family and to make a self confessed liar out of himself. Making Levi the bad guy with the PG ex girlfriend not only gave her the excuse to dump Levi but another grand opportunity to play the Palinista's favorite role before the cameras, IMA VICTIM, all of which leaves MOMMY DEAREST without blame in any of the fiasco and got rid of the other boyfriend who is probably scared poopless to say anything after the reaming poor Levi got!! And to think you all thought Bristol didn't have any acting ability!!!
ReplyDeleteTHE ONLY THING THAT MAKES SENSE IS THAT TEAM LEVI ATTORNEYS ARE ON THE PALIN PAYROLL OR SO GROSSLY INCOMPETENT THEY SHOULD BE DISBARRED!!!
THIS WHOLE FIASCO SENDS A WARNING MESSAGE TO ALL WASILLIANS WHO MAY EVER HAVE EVEN REMOTELY CONSIDERED COMING FOREWORD WITH ANY FACTS OR TRUTHS NOT FIRST CLEARED AND APPROVED BY SARAH HERSELF!
I haven't read all the comments yet, but my thoughts are that Rex & Tank were just in over their heads.
ReplyDeleteWasn't it discussed when Rex was hired to represent Sherry that he was very public about his dislike of the Alaskan GOP and Sarah in particular?
For some reason, I don't see a conspiracy here.
I think it is more likely that Rex and Tank pretty immediately found out that Levi was the real father of Trig and Bristol was the real mother. Once they had this little gold nugget to sell, they thought that everything else was small potatoes. They thought if they just sat back and waited until the custody case (Tripp) was over, they could talk Levi into telling the Trig story and make BIG $$$$. So they passed on all the little things.
They were too lazy or unskilled to coordinate all the little offers anyway. Being an entertainment lawyer is a complicated specialty. Rex is a criminal defense lawyer. Tank is a PI, not an agent. So they were in WAY over their heads. They just didn't return calls, assuming the BIG payday would come at the end.
What they didn't realize or anticipate is that Levi loves Bristol. They never saw a reconciliation coming. And by the time it happened, Levi released his "I'm a liar statement" without their knowledge (played like a fiddle by Sarah/Bristol) -- and then it was all over. Now they are all screwed.
Sorry...I really don't think Sarah is behind this. Levi said some horrible things about her that she would have never allowed to happen. And She was legitimately pissed. I think this is just a case of incompetence and greed on the parts of Rex & Tank.
I'm sorry but levi is dumb as a box of rocks if he had no idea of what was going on.He may be young but he knows what sells and what does not.The whole on again off again thing sounds like just what everyone thought a set up by everyone involved .
ReplyDeleteGryphen -
ReplyDeleteSomeone above made an excellent point. If Levi wasn't a threat to Sarah (via his knowledge of Trig) -- WHY would he need a bodyguard?!
The fact that Tank was initially hired as a BODYGUARD is enough to convince me that Levi, Rex, and Tank all know the truth about Trig.
Do you agree?
It seems that your strategy of being up front and direct, so far, is bearing minimal fruit. If deception and evasion is a way of life up there then you might want to try going undercover in order to get to the bottom of what is going on. In the movies, at least, Sherlock Holmes would at times get valuable information needed to solve a mystery by venturing out incognito using various disguises.
ReplyDeleteThe Palin women are like black widow spiders that consume their mates after they are done compulating with them.
ReplyDeleteOh, geez, why do we care about these ridiculous people? Why am I reading about them? Why am I writing here right now???
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, it's about SP's hoax, which must come to light. That part IS important. And we hope somewhere in this morass of ugly facts is the one that will help reveal the hoax to the American public.
Of course Levi, Rex, all of them know about SP's hoax. One has only to look at the non-pregnant photos to know. But no one will speak up, because they fear the long hand of SP (the Rex phenomenon, the house fire possibility, the destruction of the ex-husband), and rightly so, in that small community.
Joe McGinniss, are you reading this? Gryphen, are you visiting Joe, to see how you could collaborate?
Geez, lets get the loose ends pulled together and end this long ordeal. I wish I knew how.
Leadfoot.......don't you think a green kid from Alaska going to Hollywood with a huge black man sidekick...would refer to him as his body guard...sounds so much better than "Yoda". Tank was Levi's etiquette coach, minder, driver, you name it.
ReplyDeleteI read an interesting transcript from Levi, Sherry and Mercede's appearance on Larry King Live in April 2009....... I recommend the read: transcript
I had no idea Todd and Levi's father knew each other let alone spoke with each other on the phone.
Also the trouble between Bristol and Mercede is spoken about...... Levi is such a tool.
