Last night's SNL cold open Christine O'Donnell skit.
I hope that SNL does for Christine what they did for Sarah. Tina Fey won a special Emmy for her political satire in portraying Sarah Palin. I think that it did much to show Sarah's faults to people who normally didn't follow politics.
SNL's humor is like a caricature, picking out the funniest feature on someone's face and exaggerating it. Dana Carvey did such a convincing, funny George H.W.Bush that when I heard the whine in the real guy's voice, I could't stop laughing. I hope that Tina will do one more Sarah Palin spoof before the election, please!
The opening skit was part of a 1-2 punch at Republican and Tea Party talking points. There was a political commercial later in the show that just ripped their fear mongering to shreds. The fact that their talking points fit into a comedy skit leads us to wonder what the followers are hearing.
Who better than Kristen Wiig to portray Crazy Christine? Hate mail is on its way, Kristen.

herk
Not bad. But Christine herself is funnier.
ReplyDeleteumm... note to Kristen: bubblier and more hyperventilatingly earnest, I think.

ReplyDeleteToo low key. They could have shown ACTUAL clips of Christine O'Donnell that would have been crazier.
ReplyDeleteI would have based a skit on her current position on "abstinence only" in regards to sex, a provably dumb stance.
I didn't think it was very funny. Kristen Wiig can do better than that.
ReplyDeleteHumor is anathema to the conservative-teabagger movement.
