The truth behind Sarah Palin's "stalker."

A number of you voiced your doubt that the story about Kristen Cole and Palin having to swear out a restraining order to protect themselves against a dangerous lunatic was on the up and up, and as usual you were correct.

From The Times-Tribune:

Mr. Christy and his family say things aren't as they seem.

Father Craig Christy said the matter began when Shawn, without his parents' knowledge, left home, boarded a Greyhound bus and headed to Washington, D.C., in November 2008.

Mr. Christy ran out of money and had nowhere to go but said he felt safe around the White House and decided to hang out there, his father said. Eventually, he drew the attention of the Secret Service and was questioned by agents but not arrested.

That December, Mr. Christy said his cell phone started clicking and making strange noises. Also, when he used a public computer at a library in Tamaqua, it started malfunctioning. He said he began to call the Secret Service to see if the agency had somehow altered his phone and the computer.

After getting no response, Mr. Christy said he tried to reach Mr. McCain and Mrs. Palin and left repeated messages. Still with no response, he began to send them threats, thinking that would get him the attention he needed to get his phone fixed. He also called the White House for action but said people who spoke to him began laughing at and antagonizing him.

Mr. Christy claims he turned himself into authorities in Washington for the threatening message but was never charged. Soon, his parents were involved, and Secret Service agents visited the family at their home and interviewed Mr. Christy on June 18. He still wasn't charged with a crime but was ordered to undergo a psychological review, according to his father, though Shawn was found to have no problems.

Mr. Christy said he admitted making threats to Mr. McCain, Mrs. Palin and President Barack Obama. He also admitted to trying to contact Mrs. Palin through Ms. Cole, Mrs. Palin's family, her attorney and the Alaska governor's office. He said he found the numbers by looking them up in online phone directories. Shawn also said he called Mrs. Palin's office in 2008 because he was a supporter and wanted to know more about her views. When explaining how he contacted Ms. Cole from a phone with an Alaska area code, Mr. Christy said he purchased a pay-by-the-minute phone for which he could select the number and area code. He said he called Mrs. Palin's mother from the same number in an effort to reach the politician.

Mr. Christy said Wasilla police called him and read the protective orders over the phone to him, and his father said the family received hard copies of the documents, which were delivered by McAdoo police Tuesday.

McAdoo police declined comment Wednesday.

Craig Christy said his son was never in Alaska. Mr. Christy said he purchased a one-way ticket this spring, but never went on the trip because he couldn't afford a return ticket.

Mr. Christy said he sent Mrs. Palin receipts for a gun but that it wasn't intended as a threat. Rather, he sent the receipt from when he sold the gun to a gun shop in Tamaqua in April to let Mrs. Palin know that he wasn't going to shoot her. He claims he didn't contact Mrs. Palin, Cole or anyone else after July 3; according to court documents, he did contact Cole again.

Mr. Christy said the religious talk mentioned in the court orders was misconstrued. He said when he referred to being evil, he meant that all humans are considered sinners by God. He said he was raised Christian and wouldn't actually hurt someone.

Karen Christy is now concerned for her family's safety, and claims they've been the targets of threats.

"I wish honestly, I could go back and it didn't happen," Mr. Christy said.

Palin and Cole have requested a long-term protective order. A hearing on that request is scheduled for 10 a.m. Oct. 13 before Anchorage Master John E. Duggan, according to the Frontiersman.

Craig said the family, all of whom receive treatment related to Lyme disease, can't afford to hire an attorney or fly to Alaska for the hearing, so Shawn will have to participate by phone.

The 20-day protective order prohibits Mr. Christy from following, approaching, confronting, watching or otherwise staking or threatening to stalk or assault Mrs. Palin.

If Mr. Christy violates the order, he can be arrested without a warrant.

I will admit that Mr. Christy's behaviors were more than just a little bizarre, and that both Kristen Cole and Palin had every right to be a little freaked out by his attention.  I also believe they were within their rights to get a restraining order, even though Christy claims he did not contact either Palin or Cole after July 3.

However what Sarah Palin should NEVER have done is go to the press and blow this thing so far out of proportion.  She could have quietly filed this restraining order with the court, and instructed her attorney to simply say the matter was taken care of and they had no further comment, and left it at that.  The kid was never going to be a real threat and he did NOT need to have his life, and that of his family, turned upside down by Sarah Palin's need to play the victim.

She completely overreacted to this JUST like she overrated to Joe McGinniss moving in next door, to David Letterman making a joke about her daughter, and to the audience of DWTS booing her!

She cannot do anything quietly and out of the media spotlight.  Every single thing has to be this giant drama filled episode where she plays the poor damsel in distress while the hapless protagonist is portrayed as evil, deviant, and dangerous. (And yes I speak from experience.)

It absolutely boggles my mind that there are actually people in our country who believe THIS WOMAN would make a good President of the United States.

  1. The thing about the restraining order that got me was that he is not allowed to watch her.
I know a lot of people who would love not to watch her, but she is in the media so much that it is impossible.
How is he going to follow that part of the order.

Sarah, quiet? LMAO it got her face in one more news cycle and that's all she cares about. She's spent 2 years riling up the crazy and is now scared when a disturbed fan uses this kind of language on her? She still doesn't understand that words have consequences...for her. It wouldn't matter to her if this happened to a Dem but OMG it's all about her. She cracks the whip and her minions come out swinging in all directions. She just doesn't like it when the backlash from that crack hits her in the head.

Sure no one should be threatened but I have a difficult time working up any sympathy for her or her clowns. One of the effects of her years-long insanity ranting is Palin fatigue. I couldn't care less if she was abducted by aliens anymore. She can reap what she's sown.

I believe she went public with this now as a message to the Judge in Kernell's case in Tennessee. Kernell hasn't been sentenced yet, it's sometime late October. Her message is "see people really do want to hurt me, you better give Kernell a tough sentence to send a message"

So basically Sarah used the press and a sick kid who hadn't contacted her in three months to deflect being booed, Bristol being paid attention to, Joe Miller being a monumental d*ck and her falling poll numbers--to get MORE attention.

    Narcissism, thy name is Palin.

Not only should this crazy woman not be allowed anywhere near Pennsylvania Ave., the entire city needs to get a restraining order against her loopy ass.

I have a hard time believing Sarah seeks this kind of media attention. She hasn't directly spoken thru mags or tv appearances and we only hear her voice thru the court documents which obviously aren't classified.

I know you speak from experience that she enjoys the attention, but all she did with you is feel uncmofortable with your interview (she was probably told by an onlooker who you were) and did something about it. Wasillians are known for their protection of SArah and her family. They will do anything to stop unwarranted press and stalking journalists.

Sarah seeks ALL kinds of attention. Constantly. She should never have been interviewed on DWTS. Were any other mothers interviewed? She inserts herself stupidly into things she knows nothing about and she's constantly accusing men of sexually harassing her children. The ick factor is powerful with Palin. Her fans are delusional. Plus she uses drama to cover up her constant idiocy or bad press.

(And what's with the poor soul who thinks Bristol is winning the hearts and minds of America?)

  24. Sarah knows she is a celebrity. All celebrities have stalkers....someone that is enamored. She has courted, asked for prayers, etc. for people to protect and listen to her...while giving no thought to the down side of celebrity.

  28. When Van Flein speaks that is for Sarah. He made a statement about the Secret Service and that is Sarah talking to the press. Also Kristan Cole doesn't speak that it is not approved or set up by Team Sarah. Sarah doesn't write her own Facebook, she uses ghost writers, it is still her name that is behind it all.

The statement from Van Flein mentioned the Secret Service. Do we hear about every case like this that they are involved with? NO. Those matters are handle without press hoopla. Sarah or Team Sarah, Van Flein, Kristan Cole went for the hoopla and drama. Why they picked an 18 year old suffering from some thing like schizophrenic is what is horrific. Shawn Christy also made threats to President Obama. The Secret Service had to have checked him out. They could have known if he was in Alaska in an instant. Absolutely Cole and Palin should have made sure law enforcement was on the job and everyone was safe. Allowing it in the press is something else.

Who was the first press to find this story? The Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman would have never printed anything the Palins would not want in print. Not many got Levi's humor but even he reads the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman for his world view. LOL!!!!

Unfortunately for Sarah, she has invoked that victim stuff so often that when a real kook is involved, the whole thing looks overblown and crazy. Sarah played her victim cards against David Letterman, Joe McGinniss, anyone who filed a legitimate ethics complaint against her, Trooper Wooten, anyone in the Democratic party, the list goes on and on.

From what the parents say, this poor kid has some real problems. And, if Sarah was really frightened for her safety and her family's safety, she would have hired a security staff. Instead, we saw pictures of her walking around Beverly Hills, with little Piper carrying Tripp. Anyone could have snatched the little boy, or the little girl. Sarah should be more careful regarding her own family. And, we have to feel sorry for the Christy kid. I hope that he doesn't do anything foolish, and that he can get the help that he needs.

  41. In Palin land it is justified when the followers commit an act of physical violence, bombard a palin target with hate male, direct threats to not only their life but also their family members and even grandchildren. In their belief system (delusions) they are justified to do this. Anyone else who does this to a much lesser level (we don't know the threats this Chirsty made) is instsantly targeted for murder ncluding his family members.

Simply the delusions of entitlement to kill someone while the Palin followers be celebrated? applauded? is as scary as Charles Manson and serial killer thinking.

Meanwhile it appears there is only protection of SArah and a void of humane concern Christy needs help, coping skills. Christy is more rational than the Pbots who threaten, stalk, and as we know the police, FBI, state law enforcement has worked overtime to protect people from SP and her followers. Meanwhile they rant about being "prolife" dismissing they also believe it's okay to threaten, harass, seek the death of someone.

This is sad. After setting herself up as a MILF, Twitler seems to go after these young men who themselves have no real bad intent (David Kernell, anyone? This teenager?). I'm wondering if they are surrogates for the punishment she would bestow on Track, and in doing so, would bring unwarranted attention to herself? Track himself keeps out of the spotlight right now, but for how long? She constantly uses him, sans appearances, as an example of "patriotic soldier" which, of course, is intended to reflect back on her.

She's already exposed and humiliated one of her children by putting her out there to make money. And Bristol goes along with it; to do differently would probably make her persona non grata in her mother's eyes. And again, the glory is reflected back on Twitler.

Now that Willow has engaged in criminal activity, when does Twitler roll her out as a model for the repentant juvenile delinquent so that Twitler can garner some more reflected glory?

    Worst mother in the world.

  46. I doubt very much that Mr. Christy was found to have no problems in a psychological review. What I imagine happened is that he was found not to be a threat, which his family then reported as no problem. It sounds like he has schizophrenia, or at least, that's where I would begin in an exam. Contrary to popular opinion, persons with schizophrenia are not dangerous. We are at much higher risk from persons with personality disorders.

As far as Sarah Palin, persons whose behavior falls within the cluster B category of personality disorders, especially the more dramatic features, need to own the spotlight. Everything that happens, happens to them. Anything that can bring the attention back to her and bring it back to highlight her specialness or victimhood is going to be done.

The Lyme infection got into her central nervous system and from there into her brain. Thank goodness her parents were strong advocates for her and worked hard to find a physician who'd treat her rather than just dismiss her as crazy. With treatment, she's much better thank goodness.

Of course this story is upsetting. No one should have to deal with a stalker, not even Sarah. It's scary stuff.

Am wondering how other women in this case would react and respond - it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what other women in Palin's situation would do. They'd keep their children out of bounds, away from cameras, safe at home. They wouldn't traipse across country on jets, buses, the "Going Rogue" tour, like letting Piper carry Trip around in crowds.

They wouldn't drag kids anywhere where there were crowds. Lastly, most women would decide to stay completely out of the public eye. Not run hither and yon, (the newest trip to LA). Bristol leaving trails of her life story on People and US magazines.

If this disturbed individual (Christy) was making contact with them for the past year or so, and mentioning the daughters' names, why would Sarah allow her girls to go with her during speeches? As a mother, if I knew there was a stalker out there who referred to my daughter, I'd be so frightened, I'd make sure she was never photographed in crowds and would keep her away from media, at home, with a spouse, parent, making sure these kids felt secure and safe. And with all their money, at least build a fence all around their property, hire a good security system.

For the past 15 or 16 months, my question is why in all that time have the Palins allowed press and cameras around them and their kids? Do shows with Kate and her kids? Take part in TLC programs, Fox commenting, DWTS, Time Magazine 100 Awards, allowing Piper to be photographed, Bristol and Tripp to drive in a truck to CA?

    What gives here?

  65. I believe young Christy's behavior is a direct result of listening to Palin, Beck, Faux and the entire right wing teabagger movement. It takes someone with a fragile connection to reality and pushes them into whackmode.

They're lucky he didn't decide to reload and shoot one of the targets she is so fond of putting in the news.

How about we get a restraining order for Palin ordering her to cease and desist talking, tweeting facebooking and all manner of media appearances and communication to the public? Just to protect ourselves from her.

Haven't read the comments yet - this may be already covered and if so, sorry. What about the statements that the kid said he was having sex with Palin? Embellishment by Palin and Kristen Cole? Nah, surely not but can't have a good stalker story without the element of sex being thrown in.

So Sarah is so afraid of stalkers (especially sexual stalkers) that she wears skirts on stage hiked up mid-thigh, wears see-through tops with black bras, talks about mowing the lawn in a tank top and short-shorts, shimmies for a video when Bristol was introducing her to the DWTS partner before they even got away from the front door, screeching "how do you do that Bristol?", wears shorts in Hollywood! I know, lots of people probably wear shorts in Hollywood but not when they're 46 years old.

Does a week go by that we don't hear a vulgar comment from her and/or something that reminds the loonies that she's oh-so-hot? Stay classy, Sarah.

Wow! If you think you did anything but make this stalker look worse, you are sorely mistaken. Anyone who isn't a mentally challenged far left wacko would read this and think, "No wonder Palin did what she did, I don't blame her, I would have done the same thing! This guy (and it sounds like his family also) needs serious mental help."
