Okay class pay attention! Professor Christine O'Donnell is going to teach you a little something about both Evolution and the Constitution. Or perhaps not.

How can ANYBODY this stupid get this far in politics?

To find the answer to that question you have to look no further than the Grizzled Mama herself, Sarah Palin.

She has provided a conduit through which the most unqualified people in the country can get within a hairsbreadth of  being elected to the most powerful political offices imaginable.

And the only way to stop this from taking place is to reveal their lack of qualifications, their ignorance of what the job entails, and their secret, and extremely frightening, agenda.  I am doing my part in Alaska, I can only hope that there are bloggers and journalists doing their part in the states they reside in.

Wow...she has no concept when she first asks "where in the Constitution is the separation of church and state" that they are laughing AT her not with her. She gets this pleased look on her face like she's really zinged him this time.

I saw this earlier today and laughed my ass off at her complete ignorance. However, it is truly frightening that anyone this uneducated could even hope to run for office much less win the damn primary.

Sadly for her dense ass she actually thought the audience (all law students) were laughing with her but of course they were laughing AT her...... as we all do.

I blame palin for the shape this election is in. She has succeeded in finding and endorsing the most uneducated ignorant ass people in this nation. And anyone foolish enough to vote for them will one day wake up and realize how far back they have set this country.

Good Lord - I can't even listen to her...Can someone please post the bullet points of what she said?

Also, too, she apparently has gone to the Palin school of arguin' vs. learning how to actually debate and get your point across.

This woman is also an idiot.

P.S. and she prolly needs to get laid.

Oh, O'Donnell and Miller are getting notice alright, and so are her other great endorsements of Brewer and Angle. Not! This just goes to demonstrates Palin's poor choice of endorcements and her ability to make proper decisions and govern. Palin has made a joke not only of herself and of Alaskan's, especially after Miller's most recent action and his unwilliness to talk about his past. Palin has absolutely no future in politics due to her past behavior and statements, not to mention these endorcements. The polls have, and will continue to make that abundantly clear.

The "mess we're in" has nothing to do with Bush and his neocon buddies, but can be blamed on the absence of creationist dogma in our schools?

Birds of a feather hang together, eh?

Palin and her endorsees are all featherweights when it comes to facts and analysis.

Ignorance and arrogance are the mental twinsets of these nincompoops.
What is really sad is how proud they are to be so stupid.

WOW. I love how she reinforces the stupid. Like others have said, she clearly has no concept the audience is laughing at her ignorance. And then Coons QUOTES the First Amendment to her--verbiage any American should recognize--and she keeps repeating, "You're telling me that's in the First Amendment?" At some point, you'd think she would wise up and shut up.

One thing about these Tea Party candidates--their utter lack of self-awareness in revealing how stupid/ paranoid/ militaristic/ dishonest/ dysfunctional they are seems to be their undoing. Glad they're unraveling before the election.

    Oh fuck. /smack forehead

Xtine: Constitutional scholar per 8-day seminar (Claremont Institute Lincoln Fellowship program), and doesn't know the First Amendment. WTF?!

    Rand: AquaBuddha (lol)

Sharron: Mexicans are Asians (and she's an Asian. Also, too)

Joe: can't keep up with this trainwreck.

As Jack neatly expressed it in an early piece today (Wonkette):
We are in what is referred to as the “pile-on period.”

2 weeks folks. Let's turn up the heat on these morons. (They are all praying to just get to Nov.2 ASAP - and that we're asleep at the wheel. Wake up!!! Make them cry!!!)

The American electorate is letting fools like this get away with exposing how utterly unqualified they are, and continue to tell pollsters they are going to vote for such idiots, anyway.

Does that make THEM an idiot, too?

Maybe...I keep hearing people with a microphone put into their face saying, "We need to cut spending!" (Interviewer: "On what, for example?")

    "You know...STUFF!"

    Uh-huh...sounds pretty idiotic to me.

She makes my brain hurt. She really has no concept of the Constitution at all, and yet she thinks the audience loves her. Since when did the ability to be snarky entitle you to a senate seat?

This pull that Palin has in the lower 48 is not funny...I have too many friends down there and many of them are pro Palin and I've talked until I'm blue in the face about the havoc she created in Alaska. I've asked them to review information I sent them - to vet her. This is truly frightening to see the dumming down of candidates throughout the US.

I'm watching McCain in AZ right now (on the Ed Show) and he is spewing out and out lies! Palin fit right in w/him and has grown far, far worse since they lost the race.

Appearing in the Anchorage Daily News - no one is being charged in the Miller/security guards/blogger situation!

Chrissie is correct in that the exact words "Separation of Church and State" do no appear in the Constitution.
That is a phrase introduced by Churches to keep the Gov at arms length, it is what has give them for example, a tax free status.

However it is the civilian term for the very broad "liberal" interpretation of that portion of the 1st A. for the past 200 plus years.

That she does not know that she was correct literally, and so did not defend her literal statement, as well as not knowing that she was wrong about the legal interpretation of that part of the 1st A. is beyond belief.
How can you live in this country for even as little as a year and not have heard, seen, or read that phrase and it's context.

She has to be an early factory reject space alien what some how escaped being stripped for parts and melted down and recycled.

Good God, immigrants have to pass a test to become US citizens. Can't we enforce some type of mandatory testing to validate if a candidate even has the basic knowledge to be allowed to serve our country in the House or Senate? Seriously, some employers have tests and/or pre-requists for various low to high level positions, and after seeing these idiots making a joke of our country's process, guidelines need to be established for candidates to run for office.

O'Donnell's candidacy, including all the nutbagger candidates, is terrifying when you think this whackjob could make decisions about our lives, plus the fact that Rove & the Chamber are buying the election which is so f'ing corrupt. EVERYONE VOTE ON NOV 2nd!

Another thought I had was that Chris Coons gets high marks for restraint. I bet he wants to say similar to the old point-counterpoint SNL skits "Christine, you ignorant slut"

  27. Anonymous4:26 PM

Just when you think nothing can surprise you any more in this election cycle... Holy shit.

She may be down in the polls quite a bit (thank God), but the fact that she as an ounce of support at all is stunning.

I love how she pretends that she isn't suggesting anything about biblical teachings when she hides behind the "intelligent design" euphemism for creationism, then reveals her true colors by getting worked up about "church and state".

I know there are wingnuts all over the country, but it is pretty amazing how she could get so close to power. If this doesn't wake more people up to the potential dangers of the likes of Sarah Palin, it should.

Yeah, it's pretty embarrassing. I'll google anything before I state it as fact on a forum just to make sure I don't make an a$$ of myself.

That she thinks she can run for the US Senate on a platform of "restoring the constitution" and have to be reminded which amendments are which absolutely gobsmacks me. I would have been up all night memorizing the thing word for word.

Typical unqualified political candidate; a brash, overly confident, divisive, mean-spirited person who shows no respect for her opponent, and continues to spew her idiotic rhetoric before realizing she's made a total fool of herself.

    wiki says:

...an offshoot of the original phrase, "wall of separation between church and state," as written in Thomas Jefferson's letter to the Danbury Baptists Association in 1802.
    (snip)
The phrase was quoted by the United States Supreme Court first in 1878, and then in a series of cases starting in 1947.

O'Donnell's problem is that she is unable to defend herself with facts. She could have easily said the constitution does not use literally the term "separation..." and snuck through a tight spot. But O'Donnell can NOT detect when her statements need defense. Her self-confidence is absolute, but her conprehension of law is absymal.

No big surprise - this from http://christine2010.com/node/530

“Christine O’Donnell was not questioning the concept of separation of church and state as subsequently established by the courts. She simply made the point that the phrase appears nowhere in the Constitution. It was in fact Chris Coons who demonstrated his Constitutional ignorance when he could not name the five freedoms contained in the First Amendment.”

"The First Amendment establishes the separation, the fact that the federal government shall not establish religion," Coons said.
"The First Amendment does?" O'Donnell interrupted. "You're telling me that the separation of church and state is found in the First Amendment?"
When Coons summarized the amendment as saying government shall make no law establishing religion, O'Donnell interrupted again: "That's in the First Amendment?"

At what point were the other four freedoms mentioned, or did he give the impression that he thought it was the only freedom, or that she had any knowledge that "government shall make no law establishing religion"? Coons could have had a field day debating freedom of the press.

    It is all an experiment.

The question is being asked all over the country:
    "How stupid is the voters?"

And in a little while we will know who can be fooled- not once or twice- but fooled all the time.

    This has happened before.

I agree with Anon 1014. It's not as if we haven't seen this before. Clearly, reason has nothing to do with it. Issues, facts, truth, high level cognitive functioning, competence, decency, even the law - the constitution itself,...none of it matters. That's when you realize that there will always be fascists around who are seeking to enslave you and destroy the very country they profess to love. It's the job of the rest of us to push back, and to fight for what we believe in. There's no point in figuring them out, or debating them on merit. There's nothing to figure out. Call them out for what they are, destroyers of the middle class and destroyers of freedom and the values this country was founded on, and move on.

When we debate the minutia, our message gets lost.

  49. I feel stunned watching clips of this. This was on the level of Palin's answers during the Couric interview. This is appalling. The only thing worse is when someone in the limelight cons the public someone like COD is the person to send to represent them, make decisions etc. Another terrible thing is the notoriety given to Palin as a King Maker over candidtaes e.g. Angle, COD and Miller.

I had childhood memories yesterday about growing up and our parents taking us to religious education classes at our Catholic Church. For a few years I was sent to Catholic school by relatives. Our constitution, government protects the right to have private schools that are of a particular religious denomination, for churches, synogogues, temples to hold worship and religious education classes also. We have freedom of choice to practice our faiths, receive education or to not and be educated in public schools of non religious subjects. As a citizen and parent I also had the freedom to supplement my offspring's education and did so due to education dummed down and cuts made in public schools.

The TEa Party, the extreme candidates, Palin the queen bee of deceit, projection, mud slinging are full of BS and guilty of seeking to take our rights away to impose thiers and force their limited mindsets on us, public libraries, schools in their words "am it down our throats" while blame shifting the government is the bad guy falsely condemned.
