Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

Perhaps Sarah Palin would like to favorite a picture from MY favorite church.
I understand the sentiment, I really do. But if I want to put my fingers in my ears when Palin or Beck claims to speak for God in their rhetoric...
I just hate to think that sentiment would be on a church's front lawn. (How can a comedian make a plea for sanity and reason when even the churches are gleeful at thoughts like this?)
No, I am not a batty right winger. I'm trying to hang onto my sanity (and civility) in this insane environment.
I just want her without "voice" (or a platform to shout from).
I'll bet you a monstrosity of shady origins on Lake Lucille that Sarah is going to wish her 'documentary' was as gruesome and fascinating as the movie "127 Hours."
James Franco plays real-life rock climber Aron Ralston who made headlines when he resorted to self-amputation to free himself from a boulder that pinned his arm to a canyon wall for five days in 2003.
"[Director] Boyle looked on as paramedics treated fans struggling to cope with gruesome scenes." And the person sitting near Daily Mail reviewer Chris Tookey "left just after the most gruesome bit and never came back," apparently rebuking "the most harrowing bone-breaking and amputation scene in the history of cinema."
Sarah would do this, easy, for six figures in about six months when she and Todd have burned through their found money and have to pull a Montag / Pratt faux divorce.
I agree with Nan on this one. As much as I want Sarah to go shut up and go away, I really hope picture was photo-shopped. No church should be promoting hate. Besides, the Catholic Church has much bigger issues to worry about than Sarah Palin.
I believe that image is shopped. Here's another "Catholic church" with the same tree in the background, but a different name and message. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JRkgseRT7NY/TB_F0ovtRVI/AAAAAAAACN0/wc4iAF-jb-4/s400/our+lady+of+the+blind+river+catholic+church+sign+hypocrisy+gay+discrimination+heterosexuals+only+all+are+welcome+no+homo+nebraska+counseling.jpg
Wow. Wish that were MY Catholic parish. It's been tough listening to the idiots in the pulpit since 2000. I'm pro-life too, but pro-ALL-life, including all the innocent victims of the Bush [unjust] wars and death row inmates, especially those who were victims of the Bush governor.
Frankly, this political statement attributed to God, and every other like sentiment ought to be grounds for removing tax-exempt status of churches.
On second thought, after reading other comments, I think the photo is probably photo-shopped. There's no Catholic parish--at least around here-- that doesn't shiver with excitement at the thought of the WGE as Prez. She's pro-life you know. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
I think SP's delusional and dangerous, but that sign is just as snarky, unChristian and unacceptable as the far-right's church signs targeting Obama. The Christian (I'm not one) message, straight from Jesus himself, is "Judge not, lest you also be judged". Individuals fail, of course, but the churches ill serve their people by joining in the hate-mongering.
Both signs are offensive. Churches should stay out of politics.
My brother is very active in his small church. I am living with him now. He has dis-invited me to his church service and activities because "they are mostly Republican." I am a moderate liberal, but he apparently thinks that in a church sanctuary in a church service that that "religious' group would not accept me, even though I do not take my politics to work or church, but they apparently do to the exclusion of differing political, not religious, but political views.
It also means that they intentionally insist that guests and new members must make their politics known, be screened, pass a loyalty test of sorts, before they are acceptable into that congregation.
Somebody has already mentioned http://www.says-it.com/churchsigns/ The sign in the article is derived from "Design 11" at that site. The source photos come from Stewart Church Signs, which makes real signs.
Photoshopped pic. Catholic churches don't put politicized msgs. on billboards outside churches. There are many stripes of Catholics, as in other religious denominations. Some like Palin and other fundamentalists, many do not.
Catholic doctrine teaches it is hubris to presume what God would judge of any individual ultimately. Of course many Catholics make it up as they go--as do the C. clergy and hierarchy.

Much as I dislike Our Lady of Perpetual Narcissism, I agree with Nan that the sign is inappropriate. Although I'm not a Catholic, I think it's bad doctrine -- it ignores the possibility of repentance.
To all the people whining about how the sign in inappropriate - not so much, since this is a Catholic church. The Catholic Church has ALWAYS been very involved in politics, so I see no need for them to stop now, especially not for someone like Our Lady of Perpetual Shrieking.
Great sign! Where is the church located? (Looks a lot like the Lady of Sorrows down the street from me)
ReplyDeleteThis is just too wonderful for words! Thank, Gryph. Made my day.

She will gladly go there, for $100,000.00, a private jet and first class accomodations for several people.
ReplyDeletewhere is the pic from gryph? that's fantastic! maybe we can get the pope to excommunicate her from the galaxy.
ReplyDeleteI will settle for Sarah going to jail...
ReplyDeleteTime to find out the truth on how lake house was built and paid for....
Is there one brave Alaskan in the know, that is willing to come forward?
Holy crow. That's some balls on that church.
ReplyDeleteThen again, the different Christian groups sure like to tell each other they are going to hell.
Sarah begs to differ, God tells her every day she is his chosen one and that he's nudging doors open for her everywhere.
How and why else would this massively ignorant and ugly character of a woman presume to keep shoving herself and her family in our faces every day?

I am proud to say I am Catholic! Where is this church and maybe a donation is in order!
ReplyDeleteHow about a public sign somewhere that says "Sarah refudiates her Favorite."
ReplyDeleteYou can make your own.
