The Daily Show points out that if we are going to have an Orwellian "Big Brother," perhaps we should have one that actually keeps us safe.

(I must confess that the main reason I posted this video is the appearance of Sarah Michelle Gellar, as "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," at the end.  The Gryphen clan are big fans, and the BTVS box set is the only television series on DVD that we have in the house.  My daughter used to have overnight parties with her friends where all they did was stay up all night watching BTVS. And that my friends is your Wednesday morning "moment of geek.")

G, Do you think we can start a petition to have TLC feature Dennis's "Salmon People" I think there is the petition site where one can do this. Alas,I am not great on such things. What do you think?

Jon and his writers are so smart. Did you catch Steven's war on Christmas episode last night and The Last Word? Really clever and funny

Something about the Time picture of SP made me think of "I am not a witch".....one of the coffee sputtering comments on your blog was, "outed by Time" , really, she looked like something in drag! Shall we say Sarah the Dragester!

What we learned from this segment?

The World According to Sarah Palin and her supporters.

    1. Judicial Activism is only okay when applying conservative principles.

    2. Capitalist abuses and exploitation of consumers is preferable to Big Brother (the government) protecting citizens from unwieldy Free Market principles.

As long as conservatives don't feel their rights are being infringed upon, and they can pursue the almighty dollar wherein the end justifies the means, it's all good. That's the America they can believe in, that's where they want the country to go and stay.

Anon @ 5:31 a.m. - Sarah Palin should appear instead, under the 15 Minutes of Fame section.

    We could only wish.

The Buffy series is the second best thing Joss Whedon ever wrote; I highly recommend his "Firefly" series.

P.S. Thanks for the clip; Daily Show + Buffy = Awesome!

Can't we just send Buffy out to smack Sarah around? Just tell her that if Sarah makes it to Washington with the secret thingabob then the world will end.

I presume you would, also too, offer yourself up to watch Joss Whedon's "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" starring Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillian. If you haven't seen it, it's great! (I love all things Whedon!)

  11. not having tv, i had no idea that was buffy the vampire slayer. i watch the daily show on the computer, though - with my oatmeal every morning. both cleanse my system (too much info lol?!?). comedy is so cathartic.
i am troubled by the way that so many including jon are geting highly critical of obama. i have my criticisms of him myself and have vocalized them as best i can, but i think both obama and those who support him yet criticize him have to take account of the times and peer into the possible and likely future to see what taking support away from this president who has so much potential might do to damage his re-election. a gop win would be catastrophic - i believe the mayans would be owed an apology by the doubters. i am not saying not to criticize obama, i am just saying to do it constructively to help him be a better president. i still believe in him and believe he wants us to do that. so i wish jon would tone it down just a little. i am frustrated with both of them actually.
