Time Magazine comes to its senses and Sarah Palin is NOT chosen Person of the Year.

It looks like Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, gets the "honor" this year.

Zuckerberg is part of the last generation of human beings who will remember life before the Internet, though only just. He was born in 1984 and grew up in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., the son of a dentist — Painless Dr. Z's slogan was, and is, "We cater to cowards." Mark has three sisters, the eldest of whom, Randi, is now Facebook's head of consumer marketing and social-good initiatives. It was a supportive household that produced confident children. The young Mark was "strong-willed and relentless," according to his father Ed. "For some kids, their questions could be answered with a simple yes or no," he says. "For Mark, if he asked for something, yes by itself would work, but no required much more. If you were going to say no to him, you had better be prepared with a strong argument backed by facts, experiences, logic, reasons. We envisioned him becoming a lawyer one day, with a near 100% success rate of convincing juries."

I have to say that my source, who is ALWAYS on the money, was pretty convinced that Palin was a shoo-in.  So I have to wonder exactly WHAT changed their minds?

Could it be the embarrassment of Bristol's undeserved third place showing on DWTS?  Or that SPA is showing the world that even a carefully edited reality show/political advertisement cannot help but to reveal the shallow mean girl personality that is always right under the surface?  Or is it perhaps that the wheels come off of her political locomotive every time it leaves the station?

Well whatever it was, Time Magazine dodged a bullet this time. There was a pretty good chance that  their journalistic integrity (such as it is) could have been dealt a fatal blow if they had allowed themselves to become accomplices in promoting this crazed political side show.

Though in some ways it really is a shame she did not get chosen.  I mean look at the "wonderful" portrait they could have used.

"I'll get you, my pretty.  And your little dog too! Ah ha ha ha!"

Sorry, couldn't resist.

"crazed political side show" -- You are so right, Gryphen. Except for the evil guys behind SP, who are not at all a side show, and who will continue to be funded by Bush's great tax reduction -- and I'm not talking about the below-$250k/yr earners, but the billionaires who will continue to rake in the dough and spend it on supporting SP-like candidates and engineering their ascendency.

I bet the flak Time caught for allowing the email-only (and not even in real time) interview helped change their minds. Plus the turning of the tide for SP -- although way too slowly and inconclusively for my taste.

When, oh when, will someone put out the mainstream media story of her pregnancy hoax, which is such a perfect symbol of her lies, lies about lies, pathology, bad ethics, other deceitful issues, the complicity of her enablers (Hi McCain! Hi MSM! Hi Koch brothers and Rupert and pals!)?

I'd say the story that pulls all this together into a story that reaches the larger public will not only win Pulitzers upon Pulitzers but also will do a huge favor for our country.

In addition, 79 percent of Washington elites believe Palin is a “negative influence in national politics” while just 15 percent find her to be “a breath of fresh air.” Outside the nation’s capital, however, more than twice as many believe she has had a positive impact on politics, while 50 percent see her as a negative influence.

“Palin is a populist-oriented phenomenon drawn heavily from lower middle-class voters, but she also deliberately comes off as anti-intellectual and anti-Washington, so it is no surprise she does not play in the Beltway,” said Mark Penn, CEO of the polling firm Penn Schoen Berland, which conducted the survey for POLITICO. “Elites almost everywhere are turned off by her and some of the very things she does that attracts her core support.”

Washington elites’ low opinion of Palin was also clear when those surveyed were asked who is “most likely to win” the Republican nomination in 2012.

Sarah's Lust for Attention – How Low Can She Go?

Sarah Palin's disgraceful photo-op visit to Haitian cholera victims, is a new low, even for this shameless publicity-hound.

Her whirl-wind tour was carefully orchestrated, with all the right clips and sound bites, to show her sympathizing, and calling for action, while having only the most carefully controlled contact with the cholera victims themselves.

Only Fox News (her employer) had full access to this media-diva while she posed for her close-ups. Questions were ignored, and only carefully prepared statements made it into the public record. Strangely, for a visitor to Haiti, she appeared to be surrounded almost entirely by white faces. This whole disgusting farce could have been shot in a studio in Hollywood (or by a Madison Avenue ad agency).

What inspired her to sink to this level? If it was to show her compassionate side, the effort was a miserable failure, and instead gave a glimpse into a cold, scheming woman with a monster ego, who has no qualms about using the dead and dying to further her ambitions.

Sarah Palin is obviously eyeing the highest levels of politics, quite possibly the presidency. She has spent the last two years building her image, by keeping herself constantly in the public eye. Whatever credibility she may have achieved just got wiped out.

This Haitian fiasco shows how unfit she really is to hold public office. The nation doesn't need this sociopath in the White House..

"Sarah Palin has the advantage going into Iowa," he opines. "That electorate is dominated by evangelical Christians -- anywhere from a third to a half of the Iowa GOP electorate. She has an organization there."

But Dunn says Palin also has some significant liabilities.

"She's not demonstrated the seriousness of purpose. [And] she's not taken the vocal training that she should," he suggests. "She comes off more like a high school cheerleader rather than a serious aspirant for the Republican presidential nomination."

Dunn says whether Palin or any other GOP candidate can beat Barack Obama will depend in large part on what Obama does over the next two years.

“I would run if I believe that other candidates willing to put themselves forward in the name of public service — if they don’t have a shot at winning, I would offer myself up.”

So under Palin’s new criteria, it doesn’t matter whether there’s a constitutional conservative already in the race. It only matters if he or she is electable.

    http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/gop-presidential-primary/133653-palin-stresses-her-electability-as-a-reason-to-run-in-2012
Notice the second, subtle thing her new tack tries to accomplish. Polls have consistently shown that Palin would fare poorly in a general election. After surveying seven states pitting top Republican candidates against President Obama, the Public Policy Polling group concluded that Palin was “virtually unelectable” thanks to her anemic numbers with Democrats and independents.

It doesn't take hatred to disagree with Sarah Palin

This is in response to a recent letter asking "Why the hate for Sarah Palin?" People such as myself do not hate Sarah Palin. We just think she is enormously unqualified to be president.

Why can't we have an opinion about [her] without being called "haters"?

Even her daughter Bristol accused people of being haters because we didn't vote for her on "Dancing With the Stars." Did it ever occur to her that we just thought other people were more deserving of the title?

The real haters are people who continue to question our president's birthplace, religious beliefs and patriotism. I've never seen that before.

Sarah's fans may have been able to game the voting at Dancing with the Stars. Sarah may get away with an email interview at Time or a light weight interview with Barbara Walters. But, for someone who has had major impact on news around the world, Sarah is popular with 20-25% of the US population. When members of her own party point out her lack of gravitas, that does not point to a person who impacted the news. Sarah is someone who dearly wants to be of consequence but she chose the route of celebrity instead of careful study and preparation. If she ended up on the cover of Time, it would be for being the greatest fraud of the year, not the person of the year.

The more she opens her mouth, the more she tries to show how qualified she is to be prez, the more she looks like the enormous phony she is. It's painfully obvious that whoever is calling the shots has absolutely no idea what they're doing; which leads me to believe it is Scarah herself who is running this freak show. Run, Scarah, run! Palin has more disadvantages than anything. Even if Barack Obama were to screw up, he would still beat Palin. The demographics work against her. Every key demographic (minorities, women, young voters, etc.) can't stand $arah Palin. She continues to only appeal to old, white men, and alienate everyone else. Barack Obama has the support of those groups over Palin. I'm sure $arah Palin will win over the important and growing Latino voting bloc in key swings states with her anti-immigrant rhetoric. Nothing was mentioned about a fellow Alaskan, Christa Brelsford who was in Haiti at the time of the earthquake. Did Palin know that Christa’s story was one of charitable efforts in Haiti before the quake? Did Palin know that Christa was badly injured as a result of the quake? Did Sarah Palin know or care that Christa suffered a broken tibia, gangrene, and two breaks of her fibula were the result of the concrete slabs that fell on Christa? Was Sarah Palin even aware of the struggle Christa had to endure to learn to walk on her prosthetic foot following the amputation? Maybe what bothered Palin was the hug Christa gave the young man who rescued her after being pinned underneath huge concrete slabs?

The young man who helped get Christa the medical care necessary to save her life had black skin. It seems that if Palin had spent much time in Alaska over the last year she would have known that the parents of Christa were so grateful for the efforts of Weson in saving the life of their daughter, that they brought Weson back to Anchorage to get an education. If Palin were still the Governor of Alaska she would be in a position to gain national attention for “Christa’s Angels” which is Christa’s initiative to support reconstruction efforts in Haiti. Without ever leaving Alaska, Sarah Palin could have made a significant impact on relief efforts. Instead Sarah Palin has once again, exploited the tragedy of others for her political benefit. To make Palin’s conduct even more offensive is the fact that she is a bigot.

Sarah never takes advice from anyone, but she will take stylists when it is paid for. If she has to cough it up, well, you all saw how she didn't pay that hairdresser somewhere in middle America right?

The survey, conducted by the Democratic Garin-Hart-Yang Research Group, tested a voting group of crucial importance to Democrats: women who supported Obama in 2008 but stayed home or backed Republicans and third-party candidates this year.

Obama commands 62 percent support among those women, while just 23 percent of that group incline toward a Republican alternative.

Tested against Palin — the lone Republican woman who ranks as a top presidential contender — Obama’s advantage was even more dramatic.

Eighty percent of the women tested in the poll favored the president in a contest against Palin, while just 10 percent said they’d support the former GOP vice presidential candidate.

Damn it, Gryphen, now you've gone too far! That's a BEAUTIFUL portrait of our queen, oops, I mean pre-president-elect-to-be! Look at the determination in her steely gaze. (and note that both eyes point more or less in the same direction, thank you very much!) Look at the tastefully bound implants which reflect her good taste and regal manner. Believe me, if she wanted to shove 'the girls' in your face, you'd know it! Look at how the tense tendons and flappy neck wattle channels the jowly and fierce Winston Churchill. Even the careful placement of her hands is a subtle reminder that, yes, this woman has the intellectual capacity and hard won bachelor's degree of a Ronald Reagan or a Margaret Thatcher (ok, during their early Alzheimer's years, but still!) And, so, too, also the many colors of her hair symbolize the diverse ethnic backgrounds of we good and real Americans across this great and also pro-common-sense land, tho, honestly, we should try to ignore the DARKER colors, if you get my drift. (wink!) So, PLEASE, Gryphen, in the future let's try to afford Ms. Quittypants the deep and abiding respect and yes, even love, that she so richly craves and rarely deserves! (yeesh...)

Poor Sarah. Why didn't the self-obsessed, phony, shallow freak make the cut? It pains me. I demand a re-vote. Doesn't Time Magazine know that all news organizations should only exist for the sole purpose of fulfilling Sarah's unquenchable desire to be the center of attention? They did a job well done earlier by letting a ghostwriter pose as Sarah in an email interview, now they suddenly drop the ball. Damn you lamestream media! Almighty God will not forget this! He is watching, and that means Sarah is too.

Palin Thinks She Is Uniquely Electable

    http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/gop-presidential-primary/133653-palin-stresses-her-electability-as-a-reason-to-run-in-2012

But last month, Palin tweaked her criteria — unannounced and, largely, unnoticed.

During an interview with Fox News, Palin repeated that she wanted to see if there were other conservative candidates who would run before making her decision, but slipped in this tiny proviso: Those candidates had to be “electable.”

“I’m certainly going to take a good lay-of-the-land look and see if there are others out there who are electable,” she said.

And that doesn’t seem to be a one-time shift in rhetoric. During an interview with Barbara Walters that aired on ABC last week, she was even more explicit in claiming that electability was the key determinant.

“I would run if I believe that other candidates willing to put themselves forward in the name of public service — if they don’t have a shot at winning, I would offer myself up.”

It is an extraordinarily unflattering photo portrait that highlights harsh lines and angles in face and clothing and darkness.
It is so reminiscent of the wives of the uberrich and European minor royalty trying to look like 15thC Lords and Ladies.

I can just see it hanging in their modern prefab style house amid the lifeless heads of animals that the Palins have snuffed.

And that's not a pretty picture either.

That lapel just screams look at me look at me. It is tacky and looks cheap.
I do wonder however why she does not have an equally large tacky and garish cross on the other lapel.

Do any of Palin's internet sites have a "donate to Haitian relief" button with encouraging words for her fans to donate. She has a million or more supporters. Even a buck apiece would be a praise worthy effort on her and their part.

Alaskan bloggers raised a good bit of money and help in 08-09 for struggling communities in Alaska, much of that from the lower 48 and around the world.
    Olbermann raises millions.

Your turn Sarah, walk the walk. Raise money for Hati.
You could even adopt a transplant patient in Arizona and raise anti-death panel money for that specific person.

Sorry, I don't go to her sites. But if she isn't encouraging donations than that is something worth writing up and point out.

Maybe her trolls will tell us.

  72. I'd like to hit the nail on the head, pinning Sarah Palin's t-shirt and pants (with her in them) to a nice wooden chair in her expansive Wasilla living room.

Oh, how far our media has fallen. The only Time Magazine cover fitting for Sarah would be a title like, 'We've Been Punked'.

We've got to figure out a way to make that happen.

Sarah is going to be PISSED when she sees that photo because for all her money, she is still old. Confident women would embrace the years and their experience, but Sarah is stuck in high school. Besides, her looks is all she has. And deep down, I KNOW that she knows that.

If the stories are true and Bristol is becoming famous in her own right, then just wait until people start referring to her as "Bristol Palin's mother." That will make Sarah go insane. "What about MEEEE?!"

I really think the reason Bristol is so damn dull is because she has to suppress so many secrets. How interesting can you be to talk to when you have to watch your words and hide your lies all the time?!

    WHAT A SACRIFICE SARAH, ROFLOL.

As if she guarantees a win for the GOP

"if they don’t have a shot at winning, I would offer myself up."

MY MY MY SARAH, thinking highly of yourself, aren't you? LOL

Perhaps she wasn't selected because of the letters/emails they received from Alaskans and other folks in the lower 48 who are very anti Palin and have proof sources for them to use for her many misdeeds?!!! Vet, vet, vet is the word to push to others when sister Sarah is being considered for anything!

That Time photo of her is horrid and I cannot imagine she'd be pleased w/it. She doesn't look presidential at all - has more of a manly look and that of being evil inside and out.

  77. Anonymous12:46 PM

This sounds like something you would write, Gryphen!

The truly disgusting thing about Sarah Palin isn't that she's totally unqualified, or a religious zealot, or married to a secessionist, or unable to educate her own daughter about sex, or a fake conservative who raised taxes and horked up earmark millions every chance she got. No, the most disgusting thing about her is what she says about us: that you can ram us in the ass for eight solid years, and we'll not only thank you for your trouble, we'll sign you up for eight more years, if only you promise to stroke us in the right spot for a few hours around election time.

@11:46, so she'll only support a GOP candidate who's "electable"? LOL, so she can't even support herself, since the entire GOP (the sane part of it, anyway), knows that she's unelectable.

Looking at that picture, what I think Sarah needs are a pair of double D implants and while she's at it, she might as well get a butt implant too. Too bad Heidi Montag's doctor is dead--maybe she could find some other plastic surgeon to do about 10 procedures on her at once. She could feminize that hard jaw and Jay Leno chin and really her facelift hasn't held up well at all. Some more laser work on the skin and plump up those lips to a trout pout. That ought to do it. We'll see who is electable then.

I notice in that Time photo, that Chickie-Chick-Grandma Palin has her mouth slightly open. Just like I noticed in the video with her and Greta (in the van in Haiti), Palin's sexy little tongue flicked out of both sides of her mouth ... while she rubbed her leg.

WTH is the matter with her! Gawd.

I knew she wasn't going to be the Person of the Year the minute her "email interview" was featured. They wouldn't feature her as POTY after featuring her other interview just a week before. It was yet another consolation prize for our lady of perpetual victimhood. Once again, she lost.

This was an interesting post. Most telling is that the insurance company sent an email requesting the birth certificate for Trigg. Insurance companies don't normally require a birth certificate for a child to be covered under insurance because they have all the prenatal records and medical records related to the pregnancy progress and delivery. Since they have none of that for Trig since Sarah wasn't pregnant nor did she give birth to Trig, they needed the birth certificate. VERY TELLING!
