Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

Just for the sake of comparisons take a look at what a REAL humanitarian trip to Haiti looks like.
Michelle Obama in Haiti from The White House on Vimeo.
And remember THIS was eight months ago. Undoubtedly well before the Grizzled Mama realized she could use the disaster and the suffering people as a back drop to soften her image and attempt to make herself appear to actually have compassion.
Also take note of how comfortable and accessible Michelle Obama is with this community. She obviously feels connected to the people in a way that Palin obviously did not. And NO it has NOTHING to do with skin color.

I also remember how loving and warm Princess Diana was on her trips. She always showed genuine affection for the children.
ReplyDeleteI love the job Michelle Obama is doing as First Lady. She asks nothing that she wouldn't do herself.
ReplyDeleteWho is the blond chick with Mrs. Obama?
ReplyDeleteOne word. Class, and there in lies the difference Scarah can never change.
ReplyDeleteI'm praying for the President & his family--I've
ReplyDeleteenjoyed having him as my President and I'm glad
I voted for him.
I hadn't planned on spending very much on Xmas
gifts this year, I was just going to buy for the 2
kids in the family, but I finally decided I'd help
the economy the best I could & bought my 10
closest relatives a little something (spent $25-$50
each). For myself and my mother I bought lottery tickets. :-P
For New Years dinner I'm making black eyed
peas & hog jowel and I'm keeping my fingers
crossed for peace & prosperity for the country
in 2011.
Palin must owe Sam's Purse big time. She's been frantically pimping Greta's show on twitter.
ReplyDeleteNice to see two beautiful, well-spoken, compassionate and sincere women representing this country instead of that sulphurous harpy who is routinely featured in this blog.
ReplyDeleteNot only does MO look comfortable in the video, but so does Dr. Jill. They went not for the photo-op but to make a point that although Haiti is rebuilding, there's much more to be done.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this. What a contrast from Palin's trip! And look, Michelle believes in using seatbelts! Yet another thing Palin could learn from Michelle, should she EVER decide she wants to learn.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, it really bothers me when people assume everyone who's a minority has had it hard, when due to a bunch of bullshit, it's much easier to get a freaking job as a minority these days. One cannot compare humanitarian efforts. And Michelle most certainly did not have it hard.
ReplyDeleteI will side with her over the junk food though. I dont like that fed funding goes into it but one shouldnt play devils advocate here.
Besides there are many other things we can rightly "attack" Michelle over
sarah was playing follow the leader, just copying Michelle Obama by going to Haiti.
ReplyDeletesarah´s trip was a complete fail. It did nothing but show her recoiling from children, alienate the bots, and contradict Rush.
sarah can only fantasize about having the same favorable poll numbers that Michelle Obama now enjoys.
Wouldn´t surprise me a whit if sarah started wearing the same dresses and shoes that Michelle Obama wears.
Thanks for posting this Gryphen.
ReplyDeleteAnon@11:41--I doubt you know any/many African Americans/members of minority groups at all, or anything about MO's background to say anything from a position of authority. Those of us who are knowledgeable about unemployment know that AA unemployment is around 16%, much higher than the national unemployment figure.
ReplyDeleteSince you aren't AA, and I am, I only want to say that unless you are a member of a particular group, it's best to not speak about what you don't know/understand. You're on the outside, uninvolved, drawing conclusions based on flawed/inadequate information/data.
It's a shame that you're so bitter that you have to come to a sane, pragmatic community to sow your frustrations with your own inadequacies on Christmas Eve. All I can say to you is Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and that I hope things improve for you in 2011, and beyond.
Good breeding isn't about money. It's the way you were raised, rich or poor, black or white. The First Lady and our President were raised well. Sarah Palin and her family were..um not.
ReplyDeleteanon@11:41, I'm sure if you were an African-American you could have gooten into Harvard law. lol. white loser
ReplyDeleteyou are right, 11:04 - diana truly loved to get out and be with the people and i think the groundedness of her children comes straight from her example.
ReplyDeletemichelle and jill do my heart good. they are the best first/second lady pair of my lifetime, and i am so proud of them. i would love to meet them someday, or at least get to hear them speak. here's hoping they come to maine in 2012!
Don't forget, Haiti's terrible conditions are largely due to US meddling to begin with. All small countries would be far better off if all you Americans just left them alone.
ReplyDeleteClass. Michelle Obama is incredibly articulate and intelligent. And she has heart.
ReplyDelete...We've noticed a different, striking pattern in recent weeks: More and more prominent Republicans are publicly voicing doubts about Palin.
ReplyDeleteWhen you gather together, as we have below, the recent criticisms and misgivings voiced by Republican operatives, politicians and commentators, it becomes clear that Palin, if she has presidential ambitions, has a serious obstacle to overcome even within her own party. It also suggests that Palin would perhaps not be the powerhouse front-runner of a GOP primary that some have made her out to be.
Here's a look at the recent criticism, in reverse chronological order:
http://www.salon.com/news/politics/war_room/2010/12/24/palin_gop_criticism/index.html
Michelle and Jill are majorly cool, thoughtful, and smart women.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous@11.41a - just WHAT are the things we can "rightly" attack Michelle for? I can't think of a damn one. She came from a lower middle class hard working family and she used her brains to get to where she is.
Anon 11:14
ReplyDeleteI have no words for your base stupidity. Michelle Obama is self made. She's from a working class family. Father died of MS. Mother worked hard. She and her brother got scholarships and loans to go to school---where they excelled.
Gryphen is noting that Mrs. Obama has more class and heart than Palin has. But what does this have to do with your clueless rant about minorities getting jobs easier during these hard economic times?---Which is a crock of shit.
@11:41 AM...
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas. Congratulations, you are white and angry. Over half of the farm workers in this country are illegal immigrants from Mexico. That means there are a lot of people here that DON"T WANT those jobs...
When you offer a criticism offer a solution...
BTW: WE ARE ALL IMMIGRANTS(except for the Native Americans we robbed of all their land)...and never honored one single Treaty we made with them...
So go be self righteous and go back to Europe-if they want you.
Merry Christmas everyone! Peace.
CLASS & Intelligents with humility and compasion = Michelle Obama
ReplyDeleteBest First Lady Ever!
Don't know why anyone needs to "attack" a First Lady. All of the First Ladies in my lifetime have done positive, useful things with their time and position, regardless of their husbands' politics. I do believe a lot of the negative press that Michelle Obama gets is due to racism, even though many would deny it. Nevertheless, she is a fine lady trying to do useful things. Good for her!
ReplyDeleteNow you're going to piss off Sarah again, comparing her to Michelle. So Michelle went to Haiti before Sarah did, but did Michelle get special coverage on Fox TV to remind us of how charitable she was?
ReplyDeletesarah critics getting louder and more brash.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/robert-j-elisberg/sarah-palin-americas-whin_b_800752.html
The Obamas are intelligent, educated, compassionate people who conduct themselves with dignity and class. I am proud of the First Family. On the other hand, the Palins regularly demonstrate the worst in human nature. They are classless.
ReplyDelete"Anonymous", you can attack Michelle Obama all you want. I'm sure Mrs Obama cares even less than I do if you do or if you don't.
ReplyDeleteAnd have a Merry Christmas. You need it.
Notice the donation request at the end: Clinton Bush Haiti Fund. Two former presidents, at opposite ends of the political spectrum, came together to work to help Haiti recover from the devastation. Can anyone really picture Sarah in a scenario like that? No, she wants people to donate to a possible charlatan who lives large on donations from gullible people. Never earned a dime of it. I just completed a month of volunteer work for a charity organization. Best Christmas present I ever received.
ReplyDeleteThank you after watching that self-promoting performance with the harpies SP and GretaVanS going on about crack in the airport buildings and then slammming Sen. Patrick Leahy, I needed a reminder that there are decent people in the world.
ReplyDeleteEspecially upsetting was SP's claim that Samaritan's Purse (also SP) had supplied most of the tents being used in the camps. Not so!
Anyone want to bet that Anonymous @ 11:41 is a PeeBot troll who's come back over and over again to read the responses to his/her (RAM?) nasty little screed?
ReplyDeleteWonder if any return comments managed to make a dent in the wizened racist little piece of Hell that has replaced his/her soul?
The First Lady is a role model. Sarah Palin is a fraud and a joke.
ReplyDeleteHere's another glimpse of what real humanitarians do in Haiti, this from a good friend of mine:
ReplyDelete"There has been continued pressure for me to be involved in managing a school down in Haiti - we now have two pieces of property in a town called Jeremie. There are 385 students at one school and then there is an orphanage at another property that we are just now taking over. It is a large piece of land outside of town that has about 60 acres of farmground on it. We have one American there who has hired some Haitians and we will be growing sugar cane there. It apparently takes a year to get a crop, but it is a cheap crop to start and not alot of maintenance. The goal of the property is to make it self sustaining so that the property provides JOBS to the Haitians in the area and money to help support the orphanage. We will be down in Haiti again in late January or February to renovate the buildings that are there (the orphans are in tents currently). THe good news is that the buildings are good block buildings - its just the roofs that have fallen in - so you gut the and still have the walls, which is good. One of my brothers is a plumber, so he will also be going down to put in bathrooms/showers. At this point the kids bathe in buckets in a very short shack. It's remarkable how people live without the basics down there - no jobs, no permanent shelter, no good water supply. It is quite exasperating at times to see that they live in a virtual paradise in some areas of Haiti, but people don't feel inspired to grow crops and make money when they could do that and better their situations. There are often times it seems easier to just bring them all home with me, but of course the Haitian government would rather see them all starve first."
She was afraid of going the first time, but once she got there she fell in love with the people. And you don't see her or her family plastered all over newspapers, magazines, or on news magazines. What a difference REAL people make in our world that the pseudo humanitarians could not begin to understand.
I get the impression that some here believe that the Obamas got into certain colleges because of their skin color. Places like Harvard and Columbia have tremendous diversity with students from all over the country and the world. They don't have to take minorities just to boost the numbers. They can and do take the brightest. Whether they are rich or poor they want the best of the best.
ReplyDeletePlease don't feed the troll. Specially not on Christmas.
