Just a small peek into what our country would be like under a Palin Presidency.

Eww! Is that one of those "Lamestream" media types?
 From CNN Politics:

Members of the media and book-toting Sarah Palin supporters were asked to follow a surprisingly strict set of guidelines Friday as the former Alaska governor appeared in South Carolina on the final stop of a tour to promote her new book, "America By Heart."

Palin has been met with long lines at each stop during the two-week book tour, but fans at a Books-A-Million in suburban Columbia actually had to line up at the store twice: Once on Wednesday to enter a lottery for one of 500 wristbands that would guarantee them entry into the event, and if they got lucky, again on Friday night to actually meet the former Alaska governor.

Once inside, customers were required to present receipts for their books as a proof of purchase. They waited patiently as country music wafted through the box store, and several customers told CNN they had trekked all the way from Georgia or North Carolina for a moment with Palin.

That was until a store employee told the reporter that press were not permitted to speak with customers inside the store, or leave the roped-off cafe area that had been designated for them.

"It's a Sarah rule, not our rule," the employee said, apologetically. Another store representative told reporters that the strict rules were handed down via Palin's publishing house, HarperCollins.

Unlike Palin's stop in Iowa the previous day, members of the media were required to arrive at Books-A-Million three hours before the event to have their camera equipment, computers and cell phones inspected by officers provided by the Richland County Sheriff's Department and Palin's own security detail.

Reporters were told that live feeds of the event were not allowed, and questions were not to be asked.

And this from a woman who starts off every one of her speeches with "Do you LOVE your freedom?"

Yes we do, which is why somebody like YOU will never be elected President in this country.

The Grizzled Mama can try to use TLC to help create an image of the soft cuddly Caribou killer next door, but THESE kinds of stories are going to provide Americans with a look at the REAL Sarah Palin.

My God this woman is paranoid. Like the post yesterday pointed out, we should have learned something from Richard Nixon's story - at the very least that paranoid leaders do not make GOOD leaders.

The fact she is so afraid the press will speak to her followers is also quite bizarre. I guess she is embarrassed of them? Why don't they put two and two together and realize she doesn't want them on air singing her praises because she is ashamed of them? I doubt they would be happy about that.

Man this is so sick. The MSM needs to start covering this story - that Sarah Palin is as controlling of her press contact and coverage as ever, probably even more than she ever was.

Thank you for covering this story, Gryphen.

Wow, the steps they are taking to keep her isolated.........people must be making serious threats AND she is really, really, pouting because someone got through the other day. I am also surprised why some of us don't go to her book signings and ambush her by walking up looking like we really like her and then just starting asking her the tough questions. Are they frisking the Palibots yet???? Can you bring in a camera for a pic?? Gryphen, dress in drag, bring a hidden camera to the next book signing and post the report---Gosh, what fun you could have!!!!! Should probably consider it before they start installing full body scans at the entrances of the stores.

IMO her book signings deserve to be a nonevent and not covered by the media. Palin ought to get what she says she wants which is no attention. Meanwhile she seeks attention.

Would people come see her if she did not keep baitng the public she may run?

Sarah Palin to Jews: ‘We Honor U’

"Happy Hanukkah! Rebelling against oppressors, enduring great threats=Jewish community encourages perseverance &belief in miracles;we honor u" —Sarah Palin showed the chosen people some holiday love via Twitter. @Jews has yet to respond, but we imagine it would be something like, "@SarahPalinUSA Um, thanks? She must be terrified of looking bad, and having her fans appear stupid/bigoted/trashy when quoted or filmed must also make her look bad. Can't have that!

However, this is causing her world to shrink - to only what she can control and look good doing: tweets, Facebook, Fox, book tour conditions.

She won't venture outside her "virtual compound" - which is ultimately self-limiting. Irritating as she is, I think her pathologies are morphing into a sociopathic grifter's version of agoraphobia!

Even MEghan McCain references death threats on twitter with a nice response. A normal person can only imagine what the crazies are threatening to do to someone like Sarah who is only saying things aloud that most politicos say behind closed doors to their best friends. Go on twitter. Go on opinion blogs. If you were in Sarah's shoes, youd never leave your door from fear of being shot

    Assemble and stand in line.
    Stay behind ropes.
    Wrist band please.
    Book in hand.
    Papers please (receipt).
    Listen to handlers.
DADT: Don't Ask Questions Don't Talk.
    Media VERBOTTEN.

Listen to soothing music and subliminal message?: Send money to SarahPac.

    No Cell phones.
    No cameras.
    Step behind black curtains.
Look straight ahead while men in black suits, sun glasses and earpieces look you over.

Stand and approach when signaled by Sarah.
Small talk only if she acknowledges you.
Do not make eye contact with Piper or she will destroy you with her beady laser eyes.
Get your signed book and leave the premises immediately.

Come back in two weeks for Sarah’s next new book.

The hilarious thing is, her whole schtick during and after the '08 campaign was that the McCain campaign wouldn't let her talk to the press, and that's why she was branded as a moron. Well, Sarah, you are free to speak to any and all media now. Oh, you don't want to? Interesting.

I agree with the others who left comments that the press should not be covering these non-events. If Sarah insists of no media, no questions, no photos, no nothing, then please, follow her request. NO COVERAGE!

Jon Stewart expressed this sentiment very clearly when he called Sarah "America's Tweetheart." He then proceeded to show all of the "news" teams reading Sarah's tweets and reporting on them as if she had just written the Gettysburg Address. Sarah did not write that book. Her TV series is really an infomercial for her coming run for President. The media thinks that having Sarah in the race will create buzz. And, she is afraid to be photographed or answer one question because every time that she does, she fails miserably. And, that woman wants to be the Leader of the Free World. (Except, for the freedoms).

chance & thought about it). I wonder what kind
    of soldier Track made?

I can't believe she is still touted as a serious
    presidential candidate--she won't even give
interviews, except to Fux. The dummy doesn't
even have a political blog --just Twitter & Facebook.

why does the media bow down to her? Oh yeah,

First of all, she cannot insist that the press NOT ask questions of anyone. She of course can choose not to answer questions or she can also choose to insist that press not be allowed to ask HER questions, but she cannot do this for others by proxy. Another example of her confusion of what the press' "rights" are. She needs to step as far away from real power as possible; this country cannot afford a fascist dictator.

I am waiting to watch her program until sometime in 2012 when I am laid up with an exotic tropical disease that only allows me to pick up the remote control.

Trust me this will eventually be an Alaska family game -- finding the phony. BTW one of the reasonable explanation for the mama grizzly going after that other bear is that it was her cub of the previous year and she was chasing it off. Not an uncommon site at at that time of year.

While I understand those who feel the best way to deal with Sarah Palin would be to ignore her, I must respectfully and vehemently disagree.

SHE WILL NOT LET US IGNORE HER, SO IT IS SIMPLY NOT POSSIBLE TO DO SO. SHE IS EVERYWHERE. If things were different, if this were an ideal world, we could just ignore her and she would go away. That hasn't happened thus far, however, has it?

The best way to fight against her is to scrutinize her every single move, her every appearance, her every web utterance, everything she does. Put pressure on this woman. Do not, under any circumstance, let up.

The reason she is as defensive as she is is because of blogs like this one, relentless posts and threads on a daily basis about every tiny minute event or issue. She is running scared because we won't just ignore her and let her do her thing. She would love it if people like us would ignore her. She knows her fans won't ever do that, which means her critics would be allowing her to control her message and TAKE OVER.

This is the way we will beat Sarah Palin - by paying attention to her. It's far too late to wish we could just not feed her ego and then the problem would be solved. Pulling the covers over our heads will not get her to leave our room.
