Even Palin's breathing is freaky.

From her "Blood Libel" speech.

INSIDE THE PALIN BUBBLE: Here's Why The 2012 Republican Front-Runner Just Made Such A Fool Of Herself

Sarah Palin, on the other hand, chose to respond to the atrocity by proclaiming that she was the victim of a "blood libel," attacked by evil meanies on the television set, when there was no evidence that her actions had anything to do with the actions of the loon who committed the atrocity. Factually true enough, I would say. But who cares? And why bother even mentioning it? It couldn't be less important. It couldn't be more self-absorbed.

I hate the way she shuts her mouth in disapproval.

I had a terrible thought. She's going to write another book because she'll have to explain how the map, etc weren't her fault.

Few days have underlined so clearly the contrast between a President and his pretender. By breaking her silence on Thursday, the day Mr Obama addressed the grieving people of Tucson, Ms Palin sought to write herself into his storyline. But did she do so in such a way as to harm her political prospects forever?

Mr Obama spoke movingly of reconciliation, not blame, of America as a family that should speak among itself "in a way that heals, not a way that wounds".

Ms Palin spoke angrily of blame and "blood libel", defending the perpetuation of angry rhetoric even after the tragedy in Tucson.

The furore over her intervention has focused mostly on the anti-Semitic slur (blood libel refers to an accusation against the Jews that dates from the Middle Ages) that she appropriated to paint herself as among the victims. But in her attempt to appear presidential, Ms Palin has betrayed herself as incapable and uninterested in moving beyond her brand of grievance-based politics.

In her eyes she is scared shitless. Desperate. Weedling us to believe her 'innocence'. But she's also PISSED and that is her undoing. She loses all her credibility with her resentment on full display.

Palin should apologize, too. And not just to Jews, including Giffords.

No, Palin should apologize to all of us. In a speech condemning the irresponsibility of her critics, who have played fast and loose with the facts, Palin did something even worse: She trivialized one of the great crimes of human history.

Are the Republicans to blame for the Arizona shootings? Of course not. But by suggesting as much, were the Democrats doing something akin to mass murder? Palin knows the answer. Now let’s see if she has the courage and the decency to say it.

While Obama tried to uplift, Palin tried to settle scores. While the president called for more civility, the former Alaska governor talked about duels and 'blood libel.' And while Obama's message was, well, presidential, Palin's was not. We'll say this: If Palin has ambitions for the White House -- and we're still not sure she does -- then her tone, message, and timing from her eight-minute video was a serious miscalculation.

Off topic (or is it since Halftime Sarah = RAM?)

    Interesting article on RAM:

    http://www.politicsdaily.com/2011/01/13/sarah-palins-secret-asset-cyber-messenger-rebecca-mansour/

    Suzi Parker writes:

One thing is clear: Mansour, as writer, has discovered a character in Palin.

"I am sick & tired of the 'lack of substance' argument against Sarah Palin," she once tweeted. "Try reading her Facebook posts & listening to her speeches."

    ReplyDelete
  16. Anonymous4:40 AM

Ms. Palin’s decision to post the video on the internet Wednesday morning all but invited comparisons to the president’s previously announced appearance at the memorial service for those slain in Arizona.

And her choice of words — most notably the accusation that her critics were guilty of "blood libel" for the things they have said about her — made it impossible to ignore the video as merely another statement from a politician.

I am convinced that Palin's 'mishap' was no mishap. It was no accident that she timed her speech to be on TV before the memorial service. Nor was it anything but pure intentional malice to use the words, tone, and jaw jutting, lip pursing, head shaking gestures that she crafted very carefully.
There's nothing like a good controversy to keep Palin's name in the news. Last night I counted 7 stories about her on the front page of Huffington Post. SEVEN!!
I'd say from her perspective, her speech was a huge success.
Do NOT underestimate this woman. She knows exactly what she is doing.

That's Palin, grasping at trying to sound and look Presidential. Notice she sounds more measured in tone, not loaded with her odd inflections and gutteral noises? But her bitterness shows in her tone and her facial expressions - still got to work at appearing that you are capable of compassion and goodwill toward man Sarah.

In her persistent perception that glasses make her look intelligent, Sarah kept her trademark on her face - only to reflect one of her greatest and most stinging critiques of President Obama - that he'd be nothing without the teleprompter.

But the reflection of her own teleprompter in her glasses reveals what we've always suspected about her - what she attacks the most, she's excessively guilty about it also too.

The movement to which Sarah Palin belongs, to which she has pledged her soul is one that is so hate-filled, so dangerous that none of us can afford to ignore.

It is an age-old problem, this hating, this greed, but Sarah has become the champion to usher it back into popularity. Only by being aware of it can we keep it from washing over us once again.

There is enough suffering in the world. Sarah seems intent upon generating more. It's why our vote against her and others like her is so important.

Thanks to all of you who seek to keep us all informed and better equipped to understand what Sarah and her ilk are trying to do.

Petty detail, but why not? She is going to seriously regret tattooing her eyeliner. As women age, a secret to looking younger is to draw the eye up. Make-up artists suggest that after 50, a woman should stop lining her lower lids. Remember Harriet Myers, Bush's White House counsel? She was 60 and still did her make-up like she was 40. She looked silly. Palin is going to look the same way in 5 years.

Besides all the other possible explanations, I wonder if her breathing has something to do with keeping up with the written speech on the Teleprompter, and sneaking in breaths. If the speech is written to makes more sense read out loud, than the rhythm of speech, you might have to choose between completing the sentence (extending your breath) or breathing in the middle. Sorta like singing the difficult parts of Handel, Bach, and Mozart, having to sneak in breaths in the middle of a run of 16th notes, which is as close as I've ever come to whacking a dead halibut I mean high art.

Obama absolutely did defend her in that speech, she should be grateful. He said that lack of civility did not cause Jared to attack Giffords and others. He went out of his way to say that. He was talking about Palin and her map.

How is the President one minute going to say during his speech that no one knows why the shooting occured, and even admitting that we still don't have all the facts, and then later say with 100% certainty that this crime had nothing to do with the lack of civility?

They are still investigating and gathering evidence. They still don't have all the facts, yet, and are still trying to figure out his motive. So, right now, everything is still only speculation. Even this crap about the gunman being mentally ill. Without having all the facts, and all the evidence, it doesn't matter what anyone thinks, at this point. Not even the President.

Other than to say he failed a drug test at MEPS in Phoenix and some remarks about him smoking pot, no one has asked or talked about drugs. He wasn't in treatment, not likely he was on medication. If he smokes pot and who knows what else he would get from someone? He possibly had a dealer or dealers for years.

He seemed to have had an accelerated decline in his mental condition the last four months. Drugs could compound a mental illness at a significant rate. Someone may have been aiding him with that. It could have been intentional. Intentional or not some type of drugs could well be a significant part of the decline. I've known of many people of various ages with schizophrenia, bi-polar, you name it and drug addictions. The picture they say is his mugshot is startling. He looks like he also rapidly aged and that fixed grin? There is too much we don't know to conclude it was only mental illness.

A high school girlfriend spoke about when she knew him. He was a completely different person and she didn't see the mental illness signs at that time.

There was a black bag found with more ammunition. He didn't have a job and no one knows where he got the money to make purchases. It was in the range of $1,000. You have to consider there could be others involved with helping him out.

I don't recall details but I'd read about the small cells in Arizona and how they work. The idea is to not have trail. I'm not saying that is probable in this case, but it is still a possibility that he was not alone or that he wasn't manipulated. The mentally ill are frequently manipulated. We don't know if someone was feeding his paranoia or the circumstance.

Rep Giffords specifically addressed the SarahPac target message to her. She felt threatened. Sarah Palin never reassured her that was not her intention. After the massacre Mansour only said they needed it for the election and didn't take it down after they no longer needed it. At some point, it does not even need to be directly related to this massacre. In regard to Congress and safety issues, SarahPac must address some questions in a deposition and under oath. There are too many questions and Congress has to rethink their security. Especially with the current laws and attitudes. It is not just this one attack.

The problem here is that you can't edit this out of video without a) jump cuts; b) needing "B" role to cover the edits. The whole idea of a canned statement was poor. The timbre is terrible. What is telling about Palin's pathetic apologia - aside from it's insulting tone, the idea that she is somehow the 20th victim in this tragedy, and her insensitive anti Semitic swipe at Jewish Giffords as she recovers in a Tucson hospital - is the desperation of her body language.

With its extreme editing, removing ALL of Palin's words (oh, that all her speeches could be so mercifully silent!) it was startling how terrified she appeared to be. Gone is Mama Grizzly. What we have here is a cornered, wounded, very confused animal very different from the combative image Palin has tried to cultivate.

She seems to have come to some dim, hazy, faint realization that she may have done something that is indeed very bad for her future political aspirations. She clearly doesn’t understand why, but she is equally clearly running very scared right now.

True to form, she is running to Palin panty sniffer Sean Hannity who will undoubtedly jam his nose about a foot and a half up her ass. There is no amount of obsequious groveling and ass kissing that Hannity can do that will make a damn bit of difference. The only real question left is: when she appears on Hannity’s show, how much worse will she make the situation. Will she further try to justify her use of the rifle scope image which targeted Giffords - albeit somewhat indirectly? Will she continue to push her case that SHE is just as surely a victim in this tragedy, just like those who were killed or wounded in Tucson? Will she defend her ignorant and insensitive usage of the term “blood libel” even after so many within the GOP have condemned her for doing so?

History has shown that each and every time that Palin tries to undo the damage created from her own self inflicted wounds, she ends up making the situation very much worse. If she or her handlers collectively had a functioning brain amongst them, she would just shut the hell up on this issue, FOREVER! But, I think it is a very safe bet that she won’t have enough sense to just be quiet.

There is nothing she can say at this point that will mollify those whom she has offended. There is nothing she can do that will make her appear less petty, vain, insensitive, and just plain vindictively mean. There is nothing that she can do that will make her appear to be less of an anti Semite. But it will sure be fun watching her try.

Instead, she revealed that she is afraid and nervous and possible using drugs or on medications. She has the look of someone who hasn't slept in a few nights and is under tremendous stress. She knows she won't recover from this and all I can say is good riddance.

My guess is that Sarah won't want to look back but only continue forward and progressing Alaska or is it Arizona? She will briefly mention her deep pain in hearing the old news about Tucson and about some official and a kid. They may feel obligated to give 30 seconds to being somber like. Maybe Piper said something prophetic before they voted on the best condolences to twitter for the Congresswoman. She was in such a rush to be the first that she didn't check or verify what happened. Mansour probably gave her the go ahead and what more does she need?

The Hannity/Palin version of confronting issues and critics is an opportunity to sell her wonderful uplifting brand, she is like Reagan, you know? There is that big conspiracy out to get her, just ask talk radio and the other Fox pundits for the facts. The threats against her do cause her to take precautions but like a true frontierswoman nothing can hold her back. She is all about protecting her children and that is what it is all about. She doesn't have much time to think about herself because it is all about being a Grizzly Mama. If you don't know what that means to her be sure to buy her DVD Sarah infomercial. (Be careful, there are probably subliminal messages to send money to Sarah Pac) Bristol and her friend of Israel, Graham, deserve a shout out and a reminder about the charity giving Sarah in Haiti. How inspired she must be by Bristol's humility. She won't say but will allude to the successful lives of her two older children and what Bristol has planned for her future. It will be amazing. She really can't bother with the conspiracy against her and the naysayers because she is so busy progressing her greatness. The others suck! Just ask Tammy Bruce. If there are no Republicans to run for President they will be knocking on her door and she will have to do it.

I doubt that her catch breaths between sentences is any different than anybody elses.

However her mouth is all over the place. And watching her whole video with the sound off, it is almost as though she has some sort of muscle control problems with her face and mouth.

There is a lot of intense emotion going on in her in this speech which makes me think it is a dog whistle to her Christianist base in code and hoping they catch the hints in an otherwise very awkwardly worded comment.

Or she is truly going insane with conflicting thoughts and lapses in concentration flashing across her face, as she bits and gnaws at her own words.

On second thought, she may announce she is going to step off the stage, no more Palin to kick around. It is a sacrifice and a courageous act to protect her family from the vicious conspiracies and threats.

    Re: Your post

There is no need for me to write. You wrote it better than I could. I never watch Hannity but Monday night, I might make an exception to see if we are both correct. Thank you.

  83. Thank you one and all for the Lillian Glass web site. Can't wait to read it.
My daughter is a speech pathologist. I am sending the you tube to her for her analysis.
She can't stand Palin but I am going to ask her to be unbiased.

"...and then I realized I had never seen any commentary from anyone who taught her or went to college with her. Do you Alaskans know anything about that? Aurora 9:23 AM"

    Excellent point.
Kind of reminds you of the class mates in pilots school with Bush but can't remember him.

Pot is a euphoric it wouldn't make her hyper. (Same with the assassin Jared)
It makes people relaxed, happy, and hungry.
She has become anorexic since the 08 election and is wired so tight she literally can't sit still.

She may be taking an appetite suppressant, which tends to make people hyper. Or she may be taking legal or illegal uppers than keep her wired and exacerbate her short attention span.

I bet her blood pressure is out of sight.

  86. Sorry, if my last sentence seemed insensitive. After 1000+ students, it would be impossible to remember everyone. I hope you understand.

In five years I have never heard anyone come forward to speak of her academic times, no one from any of the five or six colleges.

Not even the college which gave her a degree - usually a small college would really brag that up to increase alumni donations and to attract new students.

That tells me she was less than a stellar student - possibly even got the credits to complete by, ahem, favors.

It looks like a technique to deal with the tongue problem. She clamps her lower jaw shut to keep her tongue in. She was having trouble with her tongue coming out as she spoke.

What does Palin's eyes reveal? Panick, pure panic.
She is trying to figure out how to save her reputation. Palin knows her political career is gone and she needs to save her reputation so that she can still get paid by fox and maybe a future movie about her. She is also worried about how she will be documented in history books. It is all about her.

This is what I've always thought. It's how pot has affected me and people I've been around who have used it. But my brother, who's a cop, swears that it makes people violent and belligerent. He has as many stories about aggressive potheads as I have about giggling fits while stoned. So I think it affects different people differently--it helps most people relax, but maybe if you're wired for rage, it brings that out.

My brother only encounters the angry, violent pot users, because they're the ones who break laws. And because I don't hang out with psychopaths, my friends get happy when they're stoned.
