Palin posse sinks their teeth even deeper into Arizona politics.

From Roll Call:

Gosar, who unseated Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick (D) in Arizona's 1st district, has named retired dentist Rob Robinson as his chief of staff. Robinson left his son in charge of his Wasilla, Alaska-based dental practice to move to Arizona in 2009 and become Gosar's campaign manager, treasurer and chief adviser.

Gosar told Roll Call that Robinson introduced him to Palin. Robinson got to know Palin from being politically active in their 7,000-population town, where Palin served as mayor. "I know he was very involved in the politics in Alaska and very involved in the politics of Wasilla," Gosar said.
Robinson, who will work from Gosar's Arizona district office, isn't the only person with Palin ties on the fledgling payroll.

Gosar hired Palin family attorney Thomas Van Flein to be his legislative director and deputy chief of staff. Van Flein graduated from the University of Arizona College of Law in 1989, according to his profile on his law firm's website. Van Flein's Alaska law firm, Clapp, Peterson, Van Flein, Tiemessen & Thorsness, helped Palin and her family navigate the Troopergate scandal when she was governor. Van Flein also represented Palin-endorsed tea party Senate candidate Joe Miller. Palin paid Van Flein a hefty retainer over the course of 2010, with the most recent payment of $10,000 coming on Oct. 28, according to her FEC filings.

Gosar is the only Arizona candidate Palin endorsed during the general election campaign. (Earlier in the year she supported her 2008 running mate, Sen. John McCain, in a Republican primary.) In July, Palin called Gosar "a bold man" who "shares our belief that the federal government's reckless spending is putting us on a dangerous path towards insolvency."

Interesting no?

First Van Flein joins Gosar's as Deputy Chief of Staff, then somebody buys a home in Maricopa in Bristol's name, and now this dentists with strong ties to Palin, Van Flein, and Wasilla becomes Gosar's Chief of Staff. A position by the way that he seems completely unqualified for.

It seems that the only ties that Van Flein and Robinson have with Gosar are Palin, politics, and dentistry.

Which is kind of interesting because if not for the support of dentists, and their families Sarah Palin may not have turned out to be....well Sarah Palin.

It was Linda Menard, Dentist Curtis D. Menard's wife, that convinced a young Sarah Heath to compete in the Miss Wasilla competition and later, to take two runs at the Miss Alaska crown.

She was living next to Curtis C. Menard (The man, now a dentist, that she had been infatuated with in High School and the son of Curtis Sr.), while she was pregnant with Track, and damn near put the city of Wasilla into bankruptcy by building a Sports Center in his honor after he died.

Dentists and Arizona, even in the world of Sarah Palin this is an odd combination of "coincidences."  And what is it that Sister Sarah always says about coincidences?

Well THIS one is definitely one we all need to keep our eyes on.  Something smells extremely  fishy.

But hey, at least she has straight teeth.

Scary, but straight.

Just read the article: Is it typical for members of congress to value loyalty over everything when choosing their staff? Is it an Alaska thing? I always though a person's experience and connections in their state and DC would be key. The whole "I need someone to 'watch my back'" thing struck me as odd and sounded more like something a crime boss would say. It also reminded me of things Palin has said in the past.

Just read this and signed on to give you the link and, of course, you're way ahead of the curve.

    Interesting,no?

At the end of the article Gosar says that yeah, sure, these guys have no experience, but he trusts them. It's all about trust. So what secrets is he trusting them to keep?

The last paragraph gave me pause:

But Gosar downplayed the amount of influence that Palin will have on his legislative work. "I know Gov. Palin is a classy lady and has her head on straight," Gosar said. "When it comes to politics, it's nice to be mired with Sarah Palin. But I'm Paul Gosar. I'm my own person."

Half-term governor "a classy lady"? In the words of Rep. Joe Wilson, you lie!!!

I guess Palin has been run out of Alaska. By her estimation, AZ is AIP wingnut-worthy. But it will take her too long to work her way up the ladder there & she's gettin' mighty close to 50. With her mental illnesses, she wants/craves/needs instant gratification & that ain't comin' via AZ politics.

Look on the bright side, the Palin entourage moves the whole goony melodrama to Arizona...Alaska wins!

The thing those Tea Party folks about valuing trust over experience & competence in public office is the emotion-over-reason Tea Party psychosis. The one that allows them to accept every hair-brained conspiracy theory despite tonnage of facts that contradict them. Feelings over facts= stupid choices= failure.

It may take time, but they will either correct their course or fade into obscurity.

I don't believe Granny has the patience to think out a long term plan, and work years toward its fruition; that is to become a political big-wig in AZ. She is on the clock, and wants her fame and money NOW.

  19. Perhaps this mass Palin exodus will leave behind a few people willing and no longer afraid to talk. I do believe that the Palin Gang is setting up a new headquarters in order to grift a whole new territory. They've plundered Alaska and they are looking for "greener pastures." Frankly, with the representation Arizona already has and the direction it is going, it seems a fitting place for Sarah Palin. I will watch, popcorn ready, for the inevitable showdown between Jan Brewer and Palin. No room in Arizona for these two narcissistic bitches to co-exist. Throw in GOP (Grumpy old Prick) McCain and it show be a real snarkfest.

Oh how they love to spin and twist the reality of things....

She's seen as bad news for the GOP--volatile, rambunctious, nuts. The battle lines were drawn by Barbara Bush a few weeks ago when she said that Palin ought to hunker down in Alaska and not disturb her betters. Palin sniped back with words about "blue bloods" trying to fix the primary.

The truth is that Palin may well be tough to defeat. She's on to something in noting that Republicans have been able to coalesce around an anointed candidate. Sometimes it worked (George W. Bush) and then again sometimes it didn't (Bob Dole). In the age of social networking, it may be tougher to stop a populist candidate such as Palin.

The very fact that Will feels compelled to attack Palin is a sign of her enduring strength. Will may well be right. Palin has the potential to upend the GOP. It's hard to fathom her winning a presidential election. But simply becoming the GOP candidate would be a stunning victory for some who only a few years ago was a Governor of Alaska that pretty much no one had ever heard about. She remains Sen. John McCain's most important political legacy.

While my favorite Grizzly doesn’t seem to make the cut (maybe because it goes without saying that she will be making noise), curiously sixteen-year-old Willow has–maybe thanks to her new found fame as a cast member on Jersey Shore Sarah Palin’s Alaska? Politics Daily’s Bonnie Goldstein writes:

Speaking of failed candidates, we speculate 2011 will be a big year for the losing 2008 VP candidate’s 16-year-old daughter, Willow Palin. Back in 2009, Willow was unfairly joked about by David Letterman but, based on a recent unscripted grizzly baby episode, she is on track to be a punch line in her own right. The Alaska teenager will lose a very positive role model if her older sister, the dancer and abstinence advocate Bristol Palin, moves out of state as the Bristol beat rumors now report to continue her own unconventional education.

Also from the female-centric Palin camp, we expect to hear more in the months ahead from and about Rebecca Mansour, Sarah Palin’s low-profile, high-energy cyber “consultant.” Politics Daily’s Sandra Fish speculates Mansour is responsible for the mean-spirited tone of Palin’s Thanksgiving Day Facebook post.

Sarah will move to Az and use Wasilla residence when it gets to hot in Az. They will keep Track behind to watch the house in Wasilla since he has no other skills except damaging school buses. Probably turn into a meth house, who knows.

Whether she likes it or not, they will put Willow in a college directly out of high school. It is not for Willow's sake, it is for Sarah's image. There is no way Sarah gonna be blamed for another idiot Palin. So maybe Bristol's house will be used for Willow to attend college in Az?

    "AZ Dentist Wins Congressional Primary
Written On: Wednesday, August 25 2010

Dr. Paul Gosar Wins GOP Primary Race

Dr. Paul Gosar of Flagstaff, Arizona, won a clear and decisive victory in a GOP primary election with eight candidates vying for the top spot.

Dr. Gosar is best known to Alaska Dental Society members as one of the most vigorous supporters of Alaska’s efforts to get the American Dental Association (ADA) to first take a firm progressive stand in opposing the introduction of Dental Health Aide Therapists outside of the scope and control of the Alaska Board of Dental Examiners and secondly to compel the ADA and the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) to comply with their commitments to Alaska under the alleged settlement agreement.

Dr. Gosar served on the ADA Council on Government Affairs (CGA), succeeding Alaska’s own Dr. Rob Robinson (the senior Rob Robinson) as chairman of the CGA. His service on CGA and involvement with the DHAT issue in Alaska that played a key role in his decision to run for Congress.

Too many critical decisions are going to be made in Congress that will impact both the clinical practice and the business of dentistry. It was during this time that Dr. Gosar came to the realization that there are too few members of Congress who understand healthcare from the provider’s perspective. So he decided to follow the career path of two other dentists, Dr. Charlie Norwood (deceased) of Georgia and Dr. Mike Simpson of Idaho, and run for Congress.Dr. Gosar and his campaign want to thank all of the Alaska dentists who contributed to his campaign for their support. He now has nine weeks of campaigning ahead to unseat the incumbent Democrat and join Idaho’s Congressman/dentist Mike Simpson.

Anyone wishing to support Dr. Gosar’s campaign can do so by logging on to www.gosarforcongress.com.
