Sarah Palin's e-mails are coming out May 31. No, THIS time they mean it!
Courtesy of MSNBC:
The state of Alaska has until May 31 to release about 25,000 pages of e-mails from former Gov. Sarah Palin and senior members of her administration, the state attorney general declared Wednesday.
Officials in the governor's office asked the attorney general to approve a 15th delay in the process, until May 31. That request was approved Wednesday by the new attorney general, John J. Burns.
But Burns said this deadline is firm:
"I am granting the requested extension with the unequivocal expectation that all requested records that are not privileged will be provided no later than May 31, 2011," Burns wrote in a letter to the administrative director of the governor's office. He sent a copy of the letter to the news organizations and citizens who have requested records, including msnbc.com.
The other requestors are the Associated Press, Mother Jones magazine, Republican activist AndreƩ McLeod and author Geoffrey Dunn. Journalists and citizens requested records on Palin's administration in the summer of 2008, when she vaulted onto the national stage after Sen. John McCain chose her as his running mate in his quest for the White House.
I am going to reserve judgement on just how revealing this e-mails may turn out to be until I get a chance to see them. They may be the break everybody has been waiting for, but I have also heard that they have been heavily redacted and that many with the potential to cause the most damage to Palin's reputation, or even put her behind bars, are in the "privileged" category.
Which means that NOBODY will ever see those. At least not by going through the usual channels.

It's about damn time. I bet they have been working on ways to keep the real damaging ones classified as privileged. Still, there should be some interesting ones in there.
ReplyDeleteI think people need to take a look at all of Parnells emails when he took over for her. I bet there's some juicy ones in there too.
good grief! how many days was palin in office and how many e-mails were there? that's how many e-mails per day? wierd.
ReplyDeleteBastards! (for delaying again)
ReplyDeleteWhat about the tax evasion on her house?
ReplyDeleteIs that in the emails?
Someone can get to them. Someone will leak them, un-redacted.
ReplyDeleteHappens every time.
Where do you get those goofy photos of her? Too bad they don't go national!
ReplyDeleteI seriously wonder how many have been deleted, changed and whatever. This smells of big time political cover up for her and her merry band of thugs. Is there any honest people left working there or just the cesspool of her people?
ReplyDeleteThat is one mu-ugly picture of the queen of e-mail oblivion.
ReplyDeleteThey have had so much time to delete and trash all the damaging emails, I doubt that there will be anything of substance left.
ReplyDeleteCome on people we are dealing with Sarah "The Biggest Lying Coward on Earth" Palin. This lady and her Jesus Mafia burn churches to hide evidence.
They terrorize and use teenagers for their agendas. They use prostitues for their sexually pleasures and then have them throw in jail.
They sabotage mothers to hide what they know about their dysfunctional lifestyle. This family puts target symbols on US Rep heads and has them shot.
To me it was no coincidence that Bristol arrived in AZ the same day as the shootings. Sarah and her Jesus Mafia I guarentee had something to do with that.
This lady and her family are serial killers and destroyers and will do anything for bad power and fame. So do you really think there will be anything damaging in those emails? No it will take alot for this sad ass COWARD to go away!
For a sparsly populated state, Alaska sure is corrupt, isn't it? Palin should have been charged with ethics violations when she conducted state business on a personal e-mail site.
ReplyDeleteMay 31st better finally be it! It's a shame they will be heavily redacted, I expected nothing less though......but still....I think enough will be exposed to connect a few more dots.
ReplyDeleteWhen is the statute of limitations up, and is it extended due to the numerous extensions given to release them?
ReplyDeleteI truly believe that anything of value will be redacted. Look who has control over that process.
ReplyDeleteI read there are emails between Shailey and Toad.
Where?
Nice picture! Was it taken during one of her exorcisms?
ReplyDeleteGeoffrey Dunn may have to write Palin Book II.
ReplyDeleteIt has been much tooooooo long in coming - but perhaps anything less than state a secret (like Putin reared his head over AK on X date at X time for X minutes), salary or state contract negotiations (Gas Line) will be let through. The sheer volume is astounding ...when you consider being Gov for roughly 2-1/2 yrs, and was on the VP Road for 3 months.
I believe if there are more ethic issues uncovered - an appeal can be made that the delay of disclosure should NOT prevent recoverable action by the State of Alaska or its citizens. Giving the citizenry less than 60 days to review & file any potential complaint.
"that are not privileged"
ReplyDeleteIsn't that the excuse they've been using all along? How come some INDEPENDENT authority isn't allowed to decide what is privileged ane what is evidence of a crime?
My only hope is that she's done by then anyway.
ReplyDeleteOK you Alaskans. This is for you.
ReplyDeleteA place to leak!
--------------
Jeff Jarvis tweets to announce the work of one of his journalism students: Localeaks. The idea is to allow any one of 1400 US newspapers to receive leaks (tips and/or files) from whistleblowers through its online dropbox.
ReadWriteWeb explains:
Each drop-box consists of a secure web connection and a form that encrypts both files and the text submitted (then destroys the originals) as well as removes identifying metadata from documents. The system also makes every effort to leave no traceable remnants from the transaction, such as identifiable session cookies on the client side or logging of any IP addresses on the server side.
Once a file is submitted, the newspaper will receive an email, alerting them to the tip. The newspaper then needs to reply that it’s interested. Then a temporary secure file transfer is established
The fact that PalinLite aka Parnell kept Palin's staff - why would we be surprised that most will be classed as privileged or heavily redacted.
ReplyDeletePalinLite and staff have been doing everything they can to get past the 2 year time limit of her leaving office.
Do these include those on her yahoo account and those exchanged with Todd? I hope so - although maybe the yahoo ones have already been examined.
ReplyDeleteWhy the delays? How do we know someone is not scrubbing those emails? Who is to say what is classified and what is not classified? With the Russians we had people verifying compliance. How do we know Palin's cronies are complying and not deleting or hiding info.
ReplyDeleteWikileaks anyone?
ReplyDeleteI hope the surprises you've spoken of don't have anything to do with what gets released by the SOA in the big pile of redacted emails.
ReplyDeleteI'm not expecting much from the email dump. I seem to recall that AK law allows basically unlimited executive privilege.
Gryphen, is there still an iceberg floating toward Ms. P or has it melted? If the emails are what we have been waiting for we may be sorely disappointed with what is left unredacted for us to see.
ReplyDeleteI have been hoping for something more solid, bigger, something more icebergy.
I'm not expecting anything explosive to come out of the e-mails. Maybe some "humiliating" stuff about her personal habits, but nothing that will incriminate her. They've had WAY too much time to mess around with these e-mails, and with her "insider" contacts all over the state, it's doubtful anything will surface. Still, I can dream, can't I?
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get that pic of her! LMFAO!
ReplyDeleteBy the time they get done redacting and rewriting she'll be Mother Theresa. Too bad but the corruption in Alaska makes Chicago look like the cleanest town on earth. Feel bad for you all. She's never going to be Prez but you should all be worried she will run for governor and in her first act get the legislature to make her governor for life.
ReplyDeleteAre you hinting at something, Gryphen?
ReplyDelete"Which means that NOBODY will ever see those. At least not by going through the usual channels."
I can hear her from her front door screaming WTF.LOL
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read WTF moments!

Obviously, Mama Grifter is plenty worried about them, or we'd have seen them already.

I am beginning to think that Sarah is invincible. There is nothing and no one that can take her down.
ReplyDeleteSP NEWS In the past 24 hrs.
Sarah Palin will speak at West Hills College in Lemoore, Calif. this May, reports ABC Local News -- and she'll receive $115000 to do so

Sarah Palin will deliver a speech at Ronald Reagan’s former ranch to celebrate the 100th anniversary Birthday.

I just don't get it.
Where did you get this photo? It looks like a scene from a horror movie.
ReplyDeleteThere seem to be some disturbing hints of possible serious illegal activities, with maybe some corruption and obstruction. It also seems that, if people have information that these things are true, it would be necessary to use resources (law enforcement, lawyers) from another location and don't stop searching those out until you feel it's in the right hands.
ReplyDeleteI like this Website because the Palin's are bullies and reading the comments make me feel that I am not alone. Will this site bring down Palin? I dont think so. Palingate changes sounded best for all. Let K and P start their own Website and take responsibility for content. And, I will visit them too. I like WTF because Dirk is edgier--its like a tiny "Wonkette," focused only on the Palins. I would respectively ask everyone however to ensure that they dont jump the gun without evidence. For example, I can say that she is a "racist twat" because that has been demonstrated by her own behavior.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, Let us not undermine her own undoing.
I cant believe Nancy Regean would want her there.
ReplyDeleteCrazy!
Whoops, I was wrong, mea culpa moment.
ReplyDeleteI meant "homophobic racist twat."
Jeez, another non-story.
ReplyDeleteKeep em coming...
The Palins really knows how to play the mafia life style.
ReplyDeleteDon't you think the Palin Mafias will make sure the damaging ones are white out? I still can't figure out why so many people fear Sarah. I mean what is it that makes everyone pee their pants worshiping this ditto head called Sarah? That witch doctor must have given her some really good herbs and demons, that were donated in Sarah's body which she is always mistaking to be holy spirit.
Sarah ..You have demons. It's common in Africa. You are losing power the witch gave you.. it will not be long. Evil do not last.
The Palins controls Alaska, So I do not know whether E-mails in May will tell anything.
5 months is a lot of time, to do damage control with the e-mails. My opinion on all this is that, the Palin insiders( mafia) are deleting the damaging e-mails.
Look at the Police with the Twad Story.
Alaska is just so screwed.
I wonder if there was an agreement between Palin and Parnell that she would resign (due to something that will possibly be disclosed in the emails) and he would delay the release of the emails for 2 years. When she resigned, she seemed very upset about something and around that time, there was a report about the emails being released.
ReplyDeleteYahoo (and google and all the others also, too) keeps a cache of all your emails "JIC" that they need them for legal purposes...
ReplyDeleteGreat photo!
ReplyDeleteI don't put it beyond them to redact/edit everything that would reflect badly on her - after all, who is in charge of this editorial process anyway? Is there anyone in charge of this who is truly impartial? I suspect a whitewash in progress.
ReplyDeleteM from MD
Any word about what happened to WTF Alaska? Will they be back?
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued by the Reagan Ranch speech. Nancy R loathes Palin. She'd not likely invite Palin to honor St. Ronnie.
ReplyDeleteG, please stop dropping teasing hints about stuff you can't share. Either share or don't be a tease please. Many thanks.
O/T, but trying to get back on topic after all the blogosphere drama today, heard the following on Democracy Now this morning while driving to work: "An U.S. Army Specialist accused of murdering three Afghan men has reached a plea deal that will see him testify against other soldiers. Jeremy Morlock is one of 12 alleged members of a secret "kill team" that murdered unarmed Afghan civilians at random and collected body parts, such as fingers, for trophies. Under his plea deal, Morlock will receive a maximum sentence of 24 years in prison in return for testifying against as many as 10 other soldiers." See http://www.democracynow.org/2011/1/27/headlines#8.
ReplyDeleteAlso, a lingering thought after watching the Greta "interview" is the utter failure on SP's part to understand and comprehend what the President said in his SOTU about the "Sputnik moment" (as well as Greta's questions) . As in, jaw-dropping stupidity on the part of SP and Team Palin. Unless Team Palin is into sabotage.
Gryphen, any update on the status of Alaska WTF?
ReplyDeleteIf it is true that ethics can't be filed after the 2 year date from her termination, I would say the delay benefits her greatly.
ReplyDeleteYa gotta love our state government. So how much, again, did it cost to get this pile of redacted shithouse paper?
ReplyDeleteNow this is something that will make you think twice about running for government office. People can read your personal emails. Sheesh, talk about big brother.
ReplyDeleteAnd what fun you'll have scanning 25,ooo pages of emails, lol.
Ya know, if they can be redacted, then what the hell is the point. They have had TWO years to redact them. How will there be any information left?? What good is this "public record" law if the official has these opportunities to hold them, redact them, and THEN release them. I would not believe anything that is released at this point--too much time to cover any wrong doing up. Are there laws dictating what can and can not be redacted?
ReplyDeletere: Anon at 5:39 pm:
ReplyDeleteOne should think twice (or,in the case of Palin, just try to THINK, in the first place) about running for office if ambition is One's only motivation or qualification for doing so.
Sarah Palin has damaged a lot of people in her quest for power, money and fame: her family...the people of Alaska...and the people of this country.
As for the email issue,if Palin had truly conducted herself in the manner in which she said she would during her short tenure as Governor of Alaska - that is to be open and transparent - she would have no need to pay a legion of lawyers a whole lot of money to obfuscate and redact the content of the back stream communication that occurred in her administration.
Alaskans were bamboozled. Let us all work together- despite our differences - to make sure this shallow, sick and insufferable fraud never holds an elected office again.
Palin looks like the demon-eyed sheep in that picture. Love the red eyes!
ReplyDeleteI also think the emails will be heavily redacted. Palin will make sure of that. Probably why it's taken so long to release them.
I wouldn't be too concerned with Palin getting speaking engagements. She's become a laughing stock and it seems clear that her presidential aspirations are all washed up. That's all that really matters.
ReplyDeletePalin is an entertainer/celebrity first and foremost. Not surprising that she's landed in the chicken dinner circuit. That'll be how she continues to make her living. There are so many of these events and entertaining speakers are generally the only criteria. Palin is certainly that!
It's understandable that people would make too much of these speaking opportunities, considering the drama Palin has caused since her national introduction; however, keep in mind that there are many political types on that circuit. No need to panic. I doubt it means anything.

So, you're NOT running for POTUS, $arah?
"I'm intrigued by the Reagan Ranch speech. Nancy R loathes Palin. She'd not likely invite Palin to honor St. Ronnie."
ReplyDeleteThe Reagan ranch does not belong to the Reagans anymore. Nancy will have a birthday bash, but nowhere near the ranch. The REAL party is scheduled for May in DC and Nancy will be in attendance then.
"If it is true that ethics can't be filed after the 2 year date from her termination, I would say the delay benefits her greatly."
ReplyDeletehas no bearing - because FOIA requests were made within the 2 year period, then ethics charges can still be filed.
Oil plus men equals corruption. Ben Stevens, Ted's son was one of the most corrupt, with Bill Allen admitting he bribed him. Nothing ever happened to Ben.
ReplyDelete5:39, that's why you keep your business emails on the business email system and your personal emails in your personal account.
ReplyDeleteFollow this time-tested common-sense solution and you will enjoy your Freedoms.
"Now this is something that will make you think twice about running for government office. People can read your personal emails. Sheesh, talk about big brother."
ReplyDeletegot news for ya' dumbass, errrr.... S Talin,...errr.... S Palin. Government workers are not supposed to use PERSONAL emails nor are they supposed to conduct personal business on the taxpayer's dime.
5:39 - If you're foolish enough to send personal e-mails using your business or government account, you do so at your own risk. Those e-mails are the property of your employer.
ReplyDeleteIf you're sending government-related e-mails using your personal account, you're a crooked politician with something to hide.
There's nothing Orwellian about ethics.
5:39, That's the POINT. Sarah Palin should not have been using multiple personal email account run Alaska state business. Why would she do that? What was she doing that required so much secrecy? And why was Todd camped in her office and part of state business meetings and copied on state business by members of her staff? Sarah Palin wants to be in charge of our nuclear defense. If she needs to copy her husband on everything, how is she capable? Her lack of knowledge is truly frightening. John McCain should throw himself on the mercy of the country for the damage she could have done.
ReplyDeleteI can tell you all right now that the Palin emails will do nothing to harm her. You know that don't you folks. Don't hold your breathe for a big coup to happen because real life doesn't work that way.
ReplyDeleteAnd you can also forget about some huge revelations on Todd using a hooker. He did of course but that's been handled now by the police and Sarah's political damage control team.
No folks, it's going to be much more subtle than that.
Anon 5:39 - personal emails would have been a non-issue if the twitter quitter ex-gov had not used her personal account to conduct STATE BUSINESS!
ReplyDeleteLet's take a vote...
ReplyDeleteParnell has has 2 years to redact. Sarah gave him a great job with a pretty good chance for reelection.
Who thinks that there will be anything in the e-mails?
Not I, for one...
If the emails are redacted way too much, it looks like a job for WikiLeaks..no?
ReplyDeleteto Anon @ 5:39
ReplyDeleteHer personal email (Yahoo)should have been for "personal"-when she deliberately used her Yahoo email for government purposes, to AVOID "disclosure"- she co-mingled the mail-therefore, her accounts) and contents are all open to scrutiny.
BTW, if you send e-mail via your employer authorized e-mail - it is subject to the same. Or visit non-authorized or approved web-sites on company puter.... we (Network Techs) attempt to block sites - but everynow & again someone gets there. Verbal Warning - Written Warning - Pack your Chit-You're Done!
It isn't just Alaska that is involved. The Palin scandals reach into the highest levels of the GOP and their allies abroad.
ReplyDeleteThe real powers that be in the GOP (and allied interests) are currently trying, very carefully, to extricate themselves from Palin and the Teaparty, who have out-lived their usefulness, and are becoming something of a liability.
Palin, in particular, is a problem. She is like an explosive device that needs to be carefully dismantled so as not to damage those who launched her career. And she probably holds at least a few good cards... if things get really nasty.
I predict an interesting game of "chicken" ahead. And, yes, there will be "finger pointing."

==================================
That was very funny! Sarah is the reason why Boehner (pronounced Boner) likes Kleenex so much.
Talk about "May Day" (or "mayday," for Palin, that is).
ReplyDeleteWhy the hell is there a "privileged" category to official e-mail - even if they tried to make it appear as if it were personal? There are certainly no national security implications, even if she can see Russia from her house. Anything redacted should be treated by the court as a willful violation of the law. Any such actions would be nothing more than a blatant attempt at simply giving a giant middle finger to the spirit and letter of the FOIA.
ReplyDeleteAt some point, even the Almighty Omnipotent Potentates in the Badass Empire of Alaska will have to obey the law. The question is, are Sarah's peeps who still infest the state government willing to go to jail to keep the e-mails secret?
There is no fucking way that she gets to redact anything, or the law is meaningless. It's inconceivable that any court will ultimately sustain any further attempts to keep her official correspondence secret for much longer. Palin and her supporters simply don't have a leg to stand on.
Anon @ 3:01,
ReplyDeleteGranted, Sarah Palin is a narcissistic mean spirited bitch who lives for vengeance and retribution, but you give her WAY too much credit. The overriding character flaw of Palin is that she is thicker than shit. She isn't smart enough to coordinate a regional bus tour for her book signings, so how in the hell is she going to orchestrate complex grand Machiavellian maneuverings?
Palin reacts instinctively and shoots from the hip in all matters. She doesn’t think - EVER! In addition to being a simpering moron, she is paranoid, so she naturally assumes that everybody is out to get her and acts accordingly. That’s why she reflexively did not want to release any e-mails. She didn’t consider the content - again, that would require thought, which she does not do - she simply flipped everybody off by claiming the e-mails were private. She is so imbecilic that she probably believed that by not using official state computers and smart phones that she came up with a foolproof way to keep all her official communications secret. There is no way that the courts will ultimately let her make this claim, or it would render the FOIA meaningless. I just don’t see that the court is willing to give the public such an ass kicking just to prop up Palin’s enormous ego. If she is stupid enough to try and get her allies in state government to cover up, destroy, or redact information she will make things demonstrably worse for herself. Remember, it’s the cover ups that send people to prison. Are her friends willing to do hard time to protect her? I doubt it.
Palin is the pied piper of imbeciles. She is the Sisyphus of morons. She is a buffoon who attracts other buffoons the way shit attracts flies. Just sit back and enjoy the spectacle as she self destructs.
A UK blogger really wishes "that some US outlet...USA Today, let's say, would announce one day: from this day forward, we're covering Palin in the entertainment section, not the news section, because that's all she is, because she is not intelligent enough to be taken seriously as any other sort of person."

----------------------------
A few weeks back it was hinted at that something big was happening behind the scenes; something that would be Palin's Waterloo. Now it appears that the Todd scandal has amounted to nothing, the e-mails will be scrubbed, the mystery of Trig's birth has been forgotten and Bristol was not pregnant, just fat.
It seems no matter what is thrown at Teflon Sarah, it just slides right off her. Color me disappointed and depressed.
Gryphen, do you have any words of encouragement for those of us who have just about given up hope of ever seeing this evil person removed from the political arena?
David Frum, a GOP analyst, said last night that Palin is just taking up space where another Republican should be.
ReplyDeleteRight now it seems like Sarah is made of Teflon. A lot of things have come out about her and nothing seems to stick. John Gotti was the same way for many, many years but he was brought down eventually. So there is hope. Unfortunately, we have to put with this worthless human being until it finally happens.
ReplyDeleteToo many redactions will look fishy and make people ask MORE questions.
ReplyDeleteThese emails, will no doubt confirm things in McGinness and Dunn's books, even with redactions.
There is a tsunami of truth coming that she cannot survive.
Gasparilla makes me laugh. You really think people are scared to be associated with Sarah when huge scandals happen and thunderous lies are told EVERYDAY that have nothing to do with her? We live in a country of horrid secrets. Political operatives, national leaders, lawyers lies for a living: to save their jobs, to rape people of money, to live out their dream. Look at all the different versions of history. Some absolutely contradict others, as personal biographies and autobios do.
ReplyDeleteOne huge thing to remember about history: each human story (the real truth) is known by one person: the person who lived the story.
All our lives may intertwine and we cannot control that. But that doesn't mean our account of an event or person is any more or less accurate than the next
May 31????I'll believe it when I see them. and if they are released, we'll be looking at huge black blocks
ReplyDelete@honeybabe:
ReplyDeleteThat's what I keep wondering: was this woman NEVER in the office? Were there NEVER staff meetings?
Look at what MSNBC obtained, roughly 3000 emails to Todd.
Sarah would have you believe these are all "personal" emails from her to her husband. Of course, we know they aren't, we can see they're mostly from her staff (all from their own personal off-the-record accounts) to Todd, usually discussing state business.
So do the math: 3000 divided by 665, the rough number of calendar days Sarah was governor. That's 4.5 PERSONAL emails a day! Who does that on the job? No conscientious employee, that's for sure. I didn't even take weekend days out of the count. Goodness knows how many PERSONAL emails were flying around that administration.
Like Time magazine said after the Troopergate report came out:
"Is the Palin administration shockingly amateurish? Yes, it is. Disturbingly so."
Many that have been in with the Palins are going to start distancing themselves because whatever they were involved with her in the past could still come back to probably ruin some of their lives even if not in a legal sense. Slowly but surely she will find herself out on that limb sitting by herself.
ReplyDeleteContinuing to associate yourself with one that has a lot of problems is only going to keep the spotlight on you. Those that have any morals and intelligence will break away if they have their life straightened up because by laying with dogs will give one fleas.
That is a hilarious picture, Gryphen. Good job!
