Anti-abortion crusader Randall Terry (resplendent in a fabulous totally heterosexual fur coat) is making some kind of documentary while coming to protest a pro-Sharia law rally (That unbeknownst to him had been cancelled.) that was scheduled to take place in front of the White House.
Frustratingly for Terry no Muslim rally materializes. So instead he turns his cameras on others that came to protest with him.
At one point he interviews controversial Muslim hater Terry Jones, who has the "brilliant" idea of putting the Koran on trial in some sort of fundamentalist kangaroo court, where he is confident it will be found guilty, after which he plans to drown it or place in front of a firing squad. (Clearly Jones has a little difficulty with the difference between an "inanimate" vs an "animate" object.)
However just when it looks like Terry and his merry band of Muslim haters will have to pack up and go home without the chance to spew their hatred, an Islamic gentleman shows up to pray in front of the White House.
Now it is important to note that this gentleman is NOT associated with the pro-Sharia Law rally, and does this every day in front of the White House without incident. That is until this day.
I will warn you that this is very hard to watch, and that if you consider yourself a Christian you may become extremely angry at the people purporting to represent your faith in this video.
Okay well you will all have to excuse me because after watching that I need to take a shower and rinse off my disgust.
I just hate it when people make me ashamed of my country. You would think after eight years of George Bush I would be used to it, but I'm not.
(Hat tip to the Raw Story.)
Only the elimination of all conservative Christians will allow all Americans to be free and the world to no longer have to live in fear of the U.S.A.'s imperialist, terrorist holy war. The conservative ideology has never helped mankind in any way, it has not only never helped mankind in anyway, it has oppressed, murdered, raped and killed all those in it's way to gain power. History shows us this. Fact shows us this. James Madison, the "Father of the U.S. Constitution", along with many founders of this country, regardless of their religious or non-religious affiliations, knew keeping politics and religion separate not only preserves each, but helps them flourish: "The number, the industry, and the morality of the Priesthood and the devotion of the people have been manifestly increased by ...the total separation of the Church and the State."
ReplyDeleteI'm not shocked by the religion hating, but
ReplyDeleteOMG, that coat! Fur hag!
This is such an awful hate filled thing to look at. I am an agnostic and I live in a country with many many religions and no one disrespects anyone else's religion like this. The protesters' arguments are so filled with ignorance and mis information. I have three names along with my surname - my first name is Christian, my middle name is Hebrew, my third name is Islamic and its no big deal where i live. America was a land of tolerance, respect and freedom but appears to no longer be so. How can the old bearded man speak about being American and that meaning freedom of religion when he is protesting the practice of another religion. These people must really suffer because of the cognitive dissonance they experience daily. So sad.
ReplyDeleteThis religious intolerance makes me so sick, and so sad. I am very glad that I gave up being a "Christian" long ago- quit organized religion. I'm a professional Asian female. age 60divorced. grandmother. former officer wife. well traveled. and daughter of a retired Army sergeant - in case anyone is checking demographics. oh, yes. almost forgot. gun owner also, too. And proudly voted for President Obama.
ReplyDeleteThat...was a disgusting display of ignorance and the worst kind of "christianity."
ReplyDeleteThat young woman in the hat was trying so hard, but how can you reason with such stupidity?
I'm pretty sure Jesus doesn't approve of these followers.
LOL
ReplyDeletehttp://www.mediaite.com/tv/sarah-palin-joins-bill-oreilly-to-talk-government-entitlements/
Can't watch it. I'm still recovering from the last Christianist video.
ReplyDeleteI'm an atheist, so I think every religion is bunk. However, I do know some cool liberal Christians, and I always ask them: Aren't you sick and tired of having the words and teaching of Jesus hijacked by the extreme right-wing? And when are all going to stand up and denounce these sick, twisted jackasses?
ReplyDeleteWell, I am surprised that there was a pro Sharia law rally even planned, and I find that irritating and ominous, as well as ridiculously, stupidly out of touch with reality. Of course, they would be way outnumbered by those who want to implement "Biblical law" which I doubt could be much better, and is probably very similar.
ReplyDeleteSo, I am all for putting the Koran on trial, but while we're at it, can we put the Old Testament laws on trial as well?
It's nice to have a little company when facing the firing squad.
I hand it to the man who was being harassed - around 14:07, when he says "you throw it on the ground..."talking about the little crosses. What a great point, and the idiots didn't realize what he was saying - where is the respect for your own religion that you carelessly toss the symbol of your religion on the ground?
ReplyDeleteThat was absolutely disgusting and scary. The Christian Taliban at work.
ReplyDeleteJust the description of the situation was enough to make me feel angry, ashamed of those loons, and nauseous.
ReplyDeleteI cannot watch it because I live in Kansas and all too often have seen the Westboro Baptist "Church" at work insulting the faith they profess to embrace.
We all know that you can't fix stupid. I can no longer stomach it either.
I will take my chances without organized religion. If heaven is populated by the likes of these folks, I think most of us would be more comfortable and a bit prouder to be in hell. Goodness, how do these crazies look in the mirror every day? What a shameful group.
These 'Christians' are an embarrassment to all Americans. Absolutely appalling.
ReplyDeleteWe need more mental health clinics with free access in this country. These people would benefit from either counseling or medication.
ReplyDeleteMy sympathies and apologies go to that peaceful Muslim man who was just trying to pray to the divine.
ReplyDeleteWould that all spiritual people simply live their lives in quiet humility and dignity, respecting one another.
What do these people NOT get about freedom of religion? I am so angry right now. God forgive me, but I wanted to punch the loud mouth dude in the black leather bomber jacket and sunglasses. I am a Christian, and it appalls me that these people are out there promoting their hatred in the name of my Lord. Why would anyone want to be part of a religion with these examples? I did like the young lady who attempted to use logic with the protesters. Too bad they kept drowning her out with their idiocy.
ReplyDeleteThat Muslim man showed a lot of class and grace under fire with that mob surrounding him. He was confounded by their throwing crosses on the ground and pointed out to them that they would be stepped on. Oh, and someone pointed out that "they're not God." Okay, using that logic, what's the point in shooting a Koran? It's not Allah, right? Showmanship and self promotion at its worst. The fur coat...I have no words.
Oh yeah. You can't use logic with this lot. Duh!
Okay, I watched the video. My take is that most of the people there were crazy, and perhaps the Muslim man as well. But the points that they made are not exactly incorrect. Islam is something to be feared, if you are not strong enough to withstand it. The only problem is that Christianity at its worst is just the same. Christians have thought that they can take whatever they see because the other people are savages and pagans. And while Islam has been very rapacious, there is at least some respect for Christianity inherent within Islam, (they consider Jesus a great prophet) but Christians don't seem to have any respect for other religions whatsoever. They think they own God.
ReplyDeleteI find it very rich that they are so worried about Sharia law and not horrified by Biblical law.
I have come to the conclusion that religion is not the problem, rather the problem is that normal people are so helpless in the face of evil people, who hijack religion, and hijack governments and societies.
Fundamentalist Muslims and fundamentalist Christians are so alike it is uncanny. And a mystic of Christianity is the same as a mystic of Islam. They understand the same way.
I now know who we should be at war with , ignorant white southern men
ReplyDeleteShameful and disgusting. Satan is at work everywhere. These are anti-Christians who do not follow the teachings of Jesus just as the terrorists are anti-Muslims and don't follow the teachings of Mohammad.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing more disgusting and revolting then the video, is the post by Corey.
ReplyDeleteThe solution to this issue is NOT the elimination of radical conservative Christains, but BALANCE, respect and tolerance for all regardless of their religious believes.
These people in this video have the right to express thier views - all of them - but they DO NOT have the right denograte, humilate or abuse someone else with different views religious or political.
What a bunch of morons. They know nothing about Christianity or Islam. The Muslim man seemed very sweet.
ReplyDeleteAll radical theology is dangerous and based on fear and hate. This video shows who the terrified, hatefilled dangerous are - those who proclaim themselves to be christians. Certainly not the calm man praying to his god in front of the White House. A right given to ALL Americans by the first amendment.
ReplyDeleteI once considered myself a christian. My thought now is that Jesus would be ASHAMED of what humans have done with/to his teachings.
that looked like a carnival freak show, complete with a dancing bear, minus the man sending his prayers toward mecca and the woman in the hat trying to get them to leave him alone. like someone mentioned here before, the idea of sharia law holding sway anywhere in this country is as scary as right-wing conservative christian law. neither is constitutional and both do have a lot in common. if those loons knew their bible, they might remember such stories as the one where jesus says, those who are without sin, throw the first stone, as well as the torment and torture of the man in the new testament that these inbreds say is their lord and savior. jesus said love one another as you have loved me. i don't believe there can be too much interpretation of that pretty definitive command which lies at the heart of christianity, or is supposed to anyway.
ReplyDeletei personally don't know where i stand anymore on religion. i do know that spirituality and religion are not one and the same. sometimes i wonder if at least half of religious people are spiritual cripples. these people, with the exception of the patient muslim man and the people trying to intervene for him are obviously both spiritually crippled, and not following the scripture and principles of their purported religion. so sad and so shameful.
I wish i could say I'm surprised but not much surprises me anymore since I have moved here. I don't think i will ever understand the culture of fear that these type of people live in. What does chanting USA USA prove. Does not being Christian make you less American? I have found that most assume I'm American and will say the rudest things about immigrants till they find out I'm an immigrant(OMG they look like us). I love the country of my father's birth but I expect much of her and those who inhabit her because much has been given to her. The intolerance shown here happens to people everyday and it's about time we stood up to it. I applaud the gentleman for praying peacefully while they were harassing him, my Irish temper would have gotten the better of me and I am sure I would have been finishing my Biblical Studies degree behind bars but I will pray for their poor misguided souls. Thanks for posting the video. You gave me a great idea for my future thesis.
ReplyDeleteTotally OT but HOLY CRAPPOLA, I almost choked on my late night snack. Did you catch the list of Ms. Tripp's yard sale?!? OMG!!! That is pretty wild....
ReplyDeleteIceberg, meet Sarah. Head on over to Ms. Tripp's yard sale and I think you will see that this day marks the beginning of the end. Now all we need is the tubal story to come together and we may have ourselves a shipwreck!
ReplyDeleteAs a Christian, all I could see was the living manifestation of the many angry faces who crucified Christ, while he attempted to pray in peace among them.
ReplyDeleteKinda brings the New Testament to life as a modern passion play.
MicMac
Disgusting.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the Grizzled Mama, who claims that no one is allowed to invoke the name of God in the public square, has seen this? Because here is God-bullying at its worst.
I am amazed at the quiet dignity of that man, in the face of the mockery and hatred of the so-called Christians.
".... and Jesus wept ...."
ReplyDeleteRandall Terry is THE most loathsome, fetid, rancid, odious little turd that ever masqueraded as a human being. Let me illustrate Terry’s place in the natural order:
ReplyDeleteFirst there are human beings; then the beasts of the land, sky, and sea; then there are the more useful insects; then cockroaches, mosquitoes, and head lice; then the bacteria, protists and paramecium; then the excreta, ejecta, and detritus of all the living creatures intermingled with the dead things that fall to the bottom of the sea to form a layer of putrescent muck; then even lower still is the primordial ooze from which the lowest orders of life first arose; beneath that are some really nasty bits that are nearly too horrible to even contemplate; and finally, beneath all of that resides Randall Terry.
Can you imagine the howls of self righteous indignation if Randall Terry were praying somewhere and he was likewise accosted by a group of Muslims acting as thuggish as these “KKKhristians?” Why, it would be an act of religious warfare! Terry would howl as if he’d been abused and violated. Yet, these assholes find such conduct acceptable by people who are ostensibly disciples of the Prince of Peace.
Gandhi could have been speaking of Terry when he said, "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." Word up, Mahatma. Especially when considering Randall Terry and his inbred tribe of sanctimonious asshats.
Randall Terry has earned his spot on my list of infamy. That list is reserved for those on whose graves I pledge - should I manage to outlive them - to piss upon with great glee. For an even more smaller and select group I will endeavor to shit upon their graves. Randall Terry is in that latter group. If there is anyone who is simply more vile and offensive, I’m not sure who it would be. Randall Terry is in the same league as Rush Limbaugh and Fred Phelps. Yeah, he’s THAT contemptible.
In all honesty, I can think of very few human beings that have done more to tarnish the name of Christianity and of our species than Randall Terry. I would not do him harm even if I had the chance and I do not wish him ill, but I cannot say that I will be displeased on the day that I learn of his death. He is simply detestable and as far as I can tell, totally devoid of any merit and worth.
Goddamn Randall Terry and go to hell.
I am curious about the Israeli flags that I noticed near the end of this. Was there a zionist group present, also. Perhaps expecting the pro-sharia rally.
ReplyDeleteMore I think about it, the more I think this was a snipe hunt. Maybe Randall Terry and Terry Jones got punked!
I condemn hair-trigger stupidity everywhere. Good for the praying guy that he understands freedom of religion and calmly stated his case.
The man praying seemed to be the most peaceful sane person there besides the rational lady questioning the noisy knuckle dragger.
ReplyDeleteWell, Corey that seems a little harsh. Not that I would miss a single one of them, but "total elimination" sounds harsh.
ReplyDeleteFor the record, Jesus was not a hater. And bless that man for coming to pray at the White House every day. (Said the agnostic.)
So nine Religious Crusades weren't enough ?
ReplyDeleteGasman, I can't improve on your epitaph for Randall Terry, you got it just right. I've looked him in the eye - there's nothing there. He makes his living hurting others - and if in some future fantasy we did turn to sharia law (whatever that is, bet he can't tell us) he would be right there licking their boots and counting the silver.
ReplyDeleteWhew, what a relief. The Hemorrhoids that have been bothering my ass have disappeared. It seem they are masquerading as christers in D.C.
ReplyDeleteShoving JESUS LOVES YOU in this man's face while spewing the most vile hatred his direction??? Christianity perverted to the power of ten.
ReplyDeleteI actually felt the pain of the dear man so incredulous that anyone would throw a symbol of their religion on the ground.
ReplyDeleteWords fail me. beth.
That literally made me sick to my stomach. These people are absolute fringe lunatics and I hope the rest of the world knows they do not speak for all the rest of us. How about that guy who was asked about "creeping Shariah". He had no idea what it meant, he had no answer and yet he stands there in his idiotic hat and protests it. Well, I guess under our Constitution he has that right but I also have the right to say he and all the rest of those idiots are all hateful, ignorant assholes!!!! I am so angry after watching that. Sorry for my rant, but I personally feel a bit better.
ReplyDeleteAll this crap makes me thankful that my Dad made certain that I was raised without any religious affiliation. Although now, he still will not accept my labeling myself an "Atheist". He prefers the tamer term of "Agnostic". To each their own as long as they don't trample the beliefs of others. But wow, the most vocal christian segment in America and around the world seems to be very vocal and very angry, and from those that I have first hand daily contact with, also seem to be very, very, very hypocritical.
ReplyDeleteCome on, no one can take Randall Terry seriously. He's a felonious criminal in at least a dozen states that I know of.
ReplyDeleteNothing Corey said is as repugnant as this video.
ReplyDeleteRandall is what Sarah would be if she had a dick and was uglier than she is.
ReplyDeleteLiving in Northern Virginia, where every religion is represented, (my neighborhood is a good example), I've noticed a correlation between education and acceptance. On my street, where we are all extremely well educated, religious differences are irrelevant. We are neighbors first.
ReplyDeleteinside the beltway
Ah yes, another group of idiots that believe that simply claiming they're Christians make them Christians.
ReplyDelete...who believe that memorizing the words is the same as understanding them and practicing what they say.
...who confuse the map with the territory.
There is nothing more dangerous than a man who "knows God."
Speechless. That sweet old man just continued with his prayer, ignoring the rabble...I wanted to cry.
ReplyDeleteI feel a new wave of civil rights protests coming on. Evil triumphs when good people do nothing.
ReplyDeleteI grew up with Klan members like this. All they know is hate and what their grand pupae told them earlier in the day.. everyone of these a**clowns should volunteer to help rebuild texas... get them all there and then give it back - fools and all.
ReplyDeleteThe hatred and bigotry of these KKKhristians (a fitting name) are antithetical to the teachings of Jesus. I am not a conservative Christian, but I find suggestions like the "elimination of all conservative Christians" ("Corey") just as bigoted and hateful as Randall Terry and his ilk. There are many Christians (even conservatives) who seek to live their faith, love their enemy, and work for justice and peace. They just don't get posted on YouTube.
