New Federal charges filed in Militia murder plot.

From ADN:

New federal charges were filed Thursday in an alleged conspiracy to kill an Alaska federal judge, the judge's family and an IRS employee.

According to a written statement issued by (U.S. Attorney Karen) Loeffler's office:

"Lonnie Vernon and his wife Karen Vernon conspired to murder the District Court Judge who was presiding over a civil tax case filed against them in federal court seeking past unpaid taxes, and also conspired to kill an IRS employee. In furtherance of that conspiracy, it is alleged that Lonnie Vernon possessed a pistol with a silencer. The indictment charging Cox, Coleman and Lonnie Vernon alleges that those three men engaged in a conspiracy to obtain destructive devices, including grenades, and unregistered silencers, and that Cox possessed an unlawful Sten machine gun, and an unlawful firearm silencer, as that Cox and Barney possessed destructive devices.

I do not believe that the FBI is finished after these indictments.  I have a feeling that there are a lot of others who are soon going to learn first hand that calling themselves a "sovereign" is not going to keep them out of a Federal penitentiary.

By the way it appears that Schaeffer still has supporters as somebody started a website called "Stand by Schaeffer," which offers you the chance to hear the wife beater and domestic terrorist in his own words, see pictures of him with his friends and family, and learn just what kind of a misunderstood individual poor Frances Cox really is. (Probably the media's fault. Isn't that the usual fall back position for these nut-jobs?)

The website even makes the following suggestion:

Write to Schaeffer in Jail (he’d love to hear from you)

Francis Schaeffer Cox Fairbanks Correctional Center
1931 Eagan Avenue
Fairbanks, AK 99701

Hmm I guess even terrorists need pen pals.

Are there any tapes of the plotter stating he knows Sarah Palin?? Those should be going viral and should be examined. Are there any you know of? Hello MSM???

I've found it fascinating that the Obama administration has gotten zero credit for all the terrorist plots it has STOPPED in the past 2 plus years, and there are many, yet when they have missed a couple, the media is ll over them. I do think part of Obama's problem is that he is not the insecure ninny that GWB is. Bush had to beat his chest continually to feel in control..I don't but the meme that the "Mission Accomplished" banner was unknown to him, either. I think he knew, approved it, and maybe even suggested it. Obama doesn't need that constant affirmation that he is doing OK...but the public, in the wake of the constant beating he takes from the right, does.

In the time after the Oklahoma City bombing, I remember hearing a story of an interview with a corrections officer talking about incarcerated "militia" members. He said, something to this effect: These militia prisoners are corrupting our other "good" prisoners.

The "good" prisoners he was talking about were thieves, murderers, and rapists.

It would not surprise me if there was an attempt to violently "spring" these guys from the prison.

This should be sent to Rep King of NY who is holding the terrorist hearings in Wash DC and show him that there are terrorists that are citizens of the US - born, raised and living in the US that are white and probably called themselves super christians and their god is telling them to kill, kill, kill other US citizens. Send these dopes to Gitmo!

These are frightening, unhinged people. I'm shocked the military based in Alaska is in bed with them. A commenter a few threads back had a link to a Google group for the Alaska Citizens Militia. Very eye-opening. I don't think this is what is meant by the Constitutional provision of "a well-regulated militia." The link below uses the Constitution and the words of Jefferson to explain.

These militia characters live in their self created world of being independent settlers in a land they claim as their own. It sounds like they suffer fantasies that are real to them they act out in. I hope their supporters make themselves known so we the people can be protected by these deranged self identified "patriots".

When Palin plays the demonization card twisting healthy diet, physical exercise, and cost effective means to have those healthy alternatives she is manipulating fear planting poison they are going to take control away from people including take over your children. I have long identified Palin as a terrorist who has no conscience to scare, deceive or terrorize people of it gains her recruits duped she is their savior. Palin and personalities who do this even to their own young are the real demons and terrorists.

Manson is in jail while the deranged neighbors plot to murder and torture any one representing the law. A cold hearted pathologic liar is given a contract and a home studio to spew untruths, lie, terrorize citizens and the elderly subversively. Knowledge is power. The real demons seek to disempower their prey and isolate them from other information brainwashing people to only trust and believe the depraved liar.

Why aren't the msm covering this very much? haven't heard anything about this except on here. If this were muslims we would hear a steady drum beat. Why does anyone need illeagle firarms or so many? BECAUSE so many have illeagle firearms.I'm sorry It's one thing to have a hunting shotgun or rifle or even a pistol to target shoot once in a while, but normal people, don't need machine guns or grenades.

Anon 3:36 I agree with you. The public needs to know where things stand, progress made etc. Yet I also have witnessed power plays that escalate in false accusations, spewing more fiction to undermine the opponent.

I believe it is a better approach to call out those who lie and question their intentions. Some may reconsider their behavior unlike Palin who turns the tables playing the victim when called put on her habitual lies, confabulations and con games.

    Gryphen,
The Alaskan population on a whole seems to have been very tolerant of militias. Has there been a change in attitude of the general public after the news of these planned attacks came out? While I know this thread is beyond new, maybe you could add and comment on that during your next report.

  11. I've got a good guess where these scoflaws bought their illegal firearms. That gun shop owner who just signed his shop away and left town.

The Alaskans that used to support the militias still do. All Alaskans who support permissive gun laws don't necessarily support the militias, but some do.

There was some suspicion about Schaeffer Cox after his D.V. arrest.
The suspicion had to do with bad for militias means a set up of some kind. The media reports of tensions between accused plotters and the lack of action may be related to this idea.

  13. I see that the Schaeffer site is filtering out all negative posts and only allowing positive comments of which there are a total of 4 so far.

Why do these wingnut a-holes always look eeriely like Timothy McVeigh? James O'Keefe and Cox could be McVeigh's long-lost twins!

"Why do these wingnut a-holes always look eeriely like Timothy McVeigh?"

Because they are all white and middle America, without exception.

None of this stuff is "new" (IM's previous post). Most people seem to disregard it, but I care and I watch.
There's lots of interesting ties and connections all over the place. Fairbanks, Anchorage, Kenai.
Missionaries either supported by, or in the militias.
All the militias are the same - they just have local/regional domains.

Gryphen has received a ton of blog comments outlining relationships and other good stuff, but he didn't allow them. So no point in repeating it, a waste of time.
He also has previous posts (April 2010?) worth reading and good comments.

thanks for keeping us updated on these crazies, gryphen. I agree with those who say they're living out some fantasy. obviously they don't think too much about what it all really means. suppose that people all over the country decided that they were "free" and shouldn't be held to the laws - what would they country look like then? complete chaos as turf wars/resource wars go on with each individual group enforcing their own manifestos with guns. these people are fucking stupid.

The 'warden' will be surprised how 'popular' the fresh inmate seems.

With a criminal record, buddy's life will change - not for the better.
