This should be mandatory viewing for EVERY Republican who even entertains the idea of taking funds away from Planned Parenthood.

  1. For those who are wondering what happened to the Jon Stewart post, I had to pull it because the embeds would not take for some reason.

For those who still want to see it, you can go directly to Comedy Central and view the segment: http://www.thedailyshow.com/

Very moving; it had me in tears by the end! The soul-less repubs should watch this!

Ack I hate to see men cry. I've never had to use PP, but now that I have lost my job and health insurance, they are a certain option for the 97% of services that I might need.

People. Never forget that our government, military, social fabric was hijacked by the GOP this week. Thank goodness that our President and his thinking support system prevailed. So far. It's not over. Lawrence is right; they HATE. It will take many voices in order to prevail again. And again.

Planned Parenthood is a service that provides essential health care to people of all walks of life and educates the public on reproductive choices. I used their services when I was young and poor and in need of contraception.

However, I think there are reasonable arguments on both sides of the issue as to whether federal funds should be spent to fund abortions (only 3% of what Planned Parenthood does). That 3% issue should be debated on its merits in Congress.

But, the Right, emboldened by recent success in electing even more ignorant, bigoted, religious extremists, actually tried to hold America hostage to defund Planned Parenthood. This reprehensible scheme was outside the limits of acceptable behavior for elected officials.

I'm a pro-choice conservative who is disgusted with the Republican Party's big lie agenda and never-ending nasty parlor tricks. Sad to state the obvious - There are fewer and fewer intelligent, reasonable, or honorable Republicans in politics anymore. Where, oh, where has my party gone? It's totally unrecognizable.

    WHy do republicans hate women?

Why is our government negotiating with terrorists over equal rights for women?

Anon at 5:53 am. Even the 3% of Planned Parenthood time spent on abortions has not been funded by the federal government. That's already illegal. This was a totally fabricated myth/lie of the Republicans in Congress. Shut down the federal government over a lie! Why not. It's all part of the do-women-in fest in the Tea Bagger House of Representatives.

Wow, that was powerful. Let's face it, the Republicans hate women.

And yet Michelle Bachman ran to Fox news last night and said the majority of all tax-funded abortions (ha, as if there is any) are done through planned parenthood. Bret just said thank you for the update on the agreement and moved on. No questions about her obvious lie, no mention of that no tax money can ever go towards abortions. What a joke Fox is. No wonder FOX viewers were found to be the most misinformed Americans.

I don't think Rethugs hate all women, just those women who might be more inclined, or might need, to use the healthcare offered at Planned Parenthood. In other words, those women without money - young or old.

I do think it's more about the Rethugs loving the votes that exist among the far Right, if they push these wedge issues, though. They are simply indifferent to the needs of the women in question in their over-weaning quest for power.

They are disgusting. And so many are outright liars. You watch, we will boot them all out the door again in the next election cycle. Look at the recent turnover in WI.

People have to be convinced once and for all that every single vote counts. This was a terrifyingly close call, and it isn't over.

Something else has occurred to me about all of this. These guys are not stupid. They are vicious and manipulative in the extreme. Are they are using Planned Parenthood funding as a great big "flag" to divert our attention while they steal us blind in other areas. Maybe PP isn't their main target...just another way to freak everyone out while they come in the back door and clean out the store.

    that was very good.

unfortunately though gryphen, I don't think that making it required viewing for republicans would make a difference. the abortion issue aside, they would simply say that people like her aren't working hard enough to get insurance and have regular doctors. republicans just don't care - can't afford things? well then that just means you aren't working hard enough. they would say that the existence of planned parenthood is the result of the welfare society. if the welfare society didn't create lazy people, then they all would have jobs, insurance, and regular doctors, and pp wouldn't need to exist. it is a shame that ignorant simpletons like this are making our laws.

Ya know, every time f...tard Palin spews crap about PP, sane, reasonable people start throwing money at PP. :-) They receive PLENTY of monies to fund that 3% of abortions. Keep spewing your crap Palin. You're doing PP a HUGH favor!

repubs are for the rich exclusively. anything that benefits the middle class or poor or old (soc sec and medicare and medicaid) they want to get rid of. the more we spread the word the better for all of us. tax the rich and corporations!

  15. A big lie, if repeated often enough, comes to be accepted. This is what the Teabaggers have done with the "government-funded abortions lie." Even with Lawrence O'Donnell calling out a congressman for saying that 90% of what PP does is abortions (another lie) it still seems to resonate with the non-thinking public. Sarah, who thankfully is losing her influence by the minute, is still spouting that lie. Of course, her followers eat it up unquestioned. Michelle Bachman as well. How dare they turn on their own sex and help deny women basic health services. I am really afraid for our country's future.

Along with the avoidance of the government shutdown, this is the only thing I am glad about. Thanks to the Teabagging zealots who failed in their endeavors to defund Planned Parenthood, I learned a lot about PP that I never knew before. This new information makes preserving PP even more of a necessity. Learning that it has also helped me with things like counseling, prostate cancer detection, and the treatment of STD's for both sexes has been a useful eye-opener. It has also been quite revealing of the depths that neanderthal GOP's will sink to in order to destroy institutions that provide a safety net for so many Americans.
