Courtesy of the Mat-Su Frontiersman:Police Chief Gene Belden confirmed today Alaska State Troopers served a search warrant on his department one week ago as part of an ongoing internal investigation.
The Frontiersman received an anonymous tip Thursday about the AST search warrant from someone who works for the City of Wasilla, but could not confirm the report until Belden acknowledged the warrant today.
“Not many police departments that I know of have ever been served with a search warrant in a criminal investigation,” the April 28 email from “John Doe” states, adding he or she has to be very careful to protect his or her identity because of the sensitive nature of the subject and the fact that only a few people knew about the warrant.
Asst. Attorney General John Novak would not comment on the report Monday except to say his department is still conducting an investigation on the city.
“If you’ve got some information, you’ve got some information, but I can’t give it to you,” Novak said Monday. “As an involved prosecutor, I cannot provide information on a pending investigation.”
The Mayor of Wasilla and his police chief are denying that this has anything to do with a report of dangerous driving on the Mayor's part, and I would also be quite surprised if it had anything to do with that.
I have been hearing some very troubling reports about the Wasilla Police Department, as well as the APD in Anchorage, but I have no idea if anything that I have heard is relevant to this investigation.
However I will keep my ears open to see if anything especially juicy is revealed.
Especially if it has to do with you-know-who or her family.
OT but it was just announced that President Obama has decided NOT to release the photos of OBL in death.

ReplyDeleteOFFTOPIC - @9:41 - I'm glad. As someone who travels internationally & who regards all faiths as equally sacred, I can tell you it would be an affront to other faiths if the photo of OBL in death were released. It would only inspire other Anti-American attacks.
ReplyDeleteON TOPIC- Yeah, it's time to investigate the Police Departments up there & what they're hiding. Having been to Wasilla once, I can only imagine it won't be too hard to find whatever Internal Affairs is looking for. The place ain't that big.
Hopefully it has something to do with the complete coverup of the Wasilla Bible Church fire and the fire at Dar Miller's home that resulted in her death.
ReplyDeleteGood decision not to release any photos, too inflammatory. Tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy theorists will find fault with any photos - they were Photoshopped, etc. same as the ridiculous comments that have been made after the President released his long form birth certificate.

ReplyDeleteInteresting that this occurred a couple of weeks before Palin's government emails are to be released this month (after 15 extensions). It probably has no connection, but it did occur to me that law enforcement may be trying to get a jump on information contained in the emails before they hit the public domain.
ReplyDeleteTrack Palin AWOL??? From what I gathered, he was only in for about a year so he wouldn't go to jail for the 40 buses he damaged. He was never in combat, only drove the brass around as a driver.

It would give me great joy to see that cesspool of corruption finally come to an end. The more I read and hear about Alaska, the more I find them a hotbed of lies, corruption, arrogance and very disengaged from the rest of the country. They're odd. Not the regular people but the politicians and the apd and the Wasilla police. I get the feeling everytime I read about the corruption and the outrageous fees they're charging on the FOIA that no other state would stand for that arrogance. And I'm not suggesting this corruption is uncommon in other states, but to this degree..wow! It just seems like Alaskans are very complacent and accept this lawlessness with a shrug of their shoulders and that's it. Not ALL - but many of them.

ReplyDeleteDo you think maybe the Wasilla Police Dept withheld evidence about Mr. Tawd and Ms Tripp and it is all catching up with them now? Maybe the Anchorage Police Dept recognized how wrong it was for them to come out with any information regarding the case and the dept is attempting to push it back on Wasilla. Maybe there is a higher-up poking around after Malia's questions to the Anchorage police. Just speculating ...
