    FYI Reminder:

President and First Lady Obama appear on Oprah today (Monday)

Remember - The show was taped last Wednesday I believe -- before the Trump Roast and Bin Laden 'taken out'!

  6. One of my favorite parts is thinking back now to hearing Sarah screeching for weeks "the president is NOT DOING HIS JOB!!...He's campaigning instead of working on important things!!

    And then this...

I can imagine President Obama sitting in the Oval Office hearing a report, "Yeah, she's on Faux still screeching about you doing nothing..."

And Obama thinking, she's doing just what we need her to do...No one has a clue about what is happening in Pakistan and we want to keep it that way.

I love thinking that she might be being used in ways she can't even imagine...

You left off some items that he has checked off:

--Keep the Wall street mess from sinking us.

--Get something (vs nothing, as Hillary's huge, intense effort ended up) as a health-care package.

--Do the best possible re the free ride on taxes of the wealthiest of us.

Much more. much more. Imagine if anyone else (who shall remain nameless) had been at the helm!

Another day of being thankful that rational thought was retuned to the White House. He's sitting pretty good right now for 2012 but even more importantly, he's proving every day that he is very dedicated to the American people. There is no one on the 2012 horizon that could compete at his level. He deserves all our gratitude.

    ReplyDelete
  17. eSkaeP brought up a great point. Palin, Trump and a lot of the Republicans were so busy attacking the President - yet he didn't allow himself to get distracted. He was focused on the task he was elected to do and let the carnival barkers distract everyone else.

That's the mark of a good leader. If Palin or Trump or any of the Republicans who have been relentless in their attacks on the President had any sense of decency or shame, they'd be VERY quiet for a while. I'm not holding my breath =D

But the flip side is that because Palin has been SO obnoxious about Obama for SO long, it'll be difficult for people to not recall at least 1 asinine comment she's made about him if not more.

And how delicious that the Half Term Quitter is the one throwing fire bombs about how the President isn't WORKING HARD ENOUGH? Then for President Obama to quietly be doing exactly the work PALIN quit doing? Do you hear that sound? It's the death rattle for Sarah Palin's political career.

Hahahahaha - shut up Sarah, you are a quitter and ALWAYS will be. Go back to bilking your dumb supporters for money and leave the real work to the adults.

So that's what Obama was doing Friday while Sarah was getting her teeth bleached and daydreaming about how she'll be like Cinderella entering the ball at all the elite events she had lined up. She's been to Hollywood, you know.

Too bad she has no speech for today since she had to cross out all her Obama-hate. Now she's an Obama wannabe so much it hurts. Todd's probably glad he's off duty again until the big D rumors swirl again. If only she would remember to put that wedding ring back on for the cameras he wouldn't have to show up at all.

Remember when he gave a statement about releasing the birth certificate and he said he didn't have time for this? I guess we know why. Does anyone except the Palin think that our president is not working hard every day?

We don't give the president enough credit for totally and completely ignoring Snookie no matter how hard she tries to provoke him with the mean and nasty drivel comes out of her mouth. He knows that to respond to her would only give her power she otherwise does not have.
He is smart enough to know that he does not need to engage in a battle with her. When the time comes, if the time comes, he will only need to give her a tiny push into the hole she has already dug for herself.

IMO, this is WHY he presented his long form birth certificate late last week, intimating that there are much more important things to be done than listen to Sideshow Donald and the other occupants of the GOP clown car. Remember we're dealing with a very smart, canny human being who knew that the raid on OBL was imminent. Both events are making Donald, Scarah, Michelle, et. al. look like carnival freaks as they try to yap their way out of the holes they've dug for themselves. Timing is everything!

PS--I watched the President's speech at the WHC dinner online just yesterday evening, long before the OBL news--I thought something was slightly off in his usually perfect delivery--if you watch closely, you'll see it. He looked preoccupied to me--now we know why!

As an example of right wing bitterness, Sarah Palin only managed to eek out congratulations to the military, showing that once again she has no idea what just happened or how it happened and once again, she is too eaten alive by jealousy of the President to bother pretending to be an American even now (yes, dear, that was a dig at your AIP affiliations. You said you wanted to play, no?). But why would we think she would change her tune and suddenly side with her country, when she has spent the last 2 years ginning up hate against her President, often on foreign soil and military bases. Way to go, Sarah. Right behind her is Rush Limbaugh, who is currently chocking on his own hubris and hatred for his country. Who wants Osama if the meanie who won the election gets him?

Republicans Hasten to Construct Post-bin Laden Reality

Today is a new world, and as any Republican recognizes in this post-bin Laden world, there is a need for a new reality to assert itself. Osama bin Laden is dead, and a Republican president is not responsible for it. Instead, a black man did it, a man who many Republicans and Tea Partiers do not even consider a Christian, let alone an American. Here we have a black man – let me reiterate that – a black man, accused of being a jihadist himself, a man said to be a Muslim born in Kenya, an “anti-colonialist” Kenyan according to Newt Gingrich – and he, not President Bush, killed Osama bin Laden.

Let’s say that again: President Barack Obama killed Osama bin Laden.

No, he didn’t go to that compound north of Islamabad and pull the trigger himself, but he’s the guy on whose watch the event took place. He is the one who ordered and gave the final OK to the operation that killed the al Qaeda leader. Just as the leader is ultimately responsible for any failures, so is he ultimately responsible for any successes which take place on his watch.

    Let’s look at this again:

It is pathetic to read the comments of those like Boner and Cantor who are trying to downplay Obama's role and inject Bush into this raid. Even Rush Limbaugh understands that it was Obama who shaped this mission:

"Our military wanted to go in there and just scorch the earth...but President Obama single-handedly understood what was at stake here. He alone understood the need to get DNA to prove the death...it was President Obama single-handedly and alone who came up with the strategy that brought about the effective assassination of Osama bin Laden. Thank God for President Obama."

    - Rush Limbaugh

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/05/02/limbaugh-thank-god-obama-bin-laden_n_856425.html

The GOP is simply making themselves look like the miserly fools that they are when they try and salvage Bush's reputation at the expense of Obama's leadership.

    No fucking way.

If President Obama gets the blame for anything/everything bad which happens on his watch, then he gets full credit for the successes as well. These GOP cocks take credit for the sunrise and blame cloudy days on Obama.

History has already recorded that bin Laden was absolutely safe as long as Bush was in office. It has also recorded the critical remarks that the GOP has made about President Obama's response to al Qaeda.

There's no way in hell that the GOP can EVER criticize Obama's response to terrorism ever again.

    Thanks for nothing GOP.

Palin has LED the divisiveness and hatred against our President - she has caused suffering and death (R.I.P. Christina Taylor Green).
She is a national security risk, and she endangers our President nearly every day with her vile, disgusting and ignorant/hateful rhetoric.
It will take years to undo the damage she has done. I take some solace in the knowledge that the FBI, IRS and Secret Service MUST be building cases against her.

Rush Limbaugh: 'Thank God For President Obama' (VIDEO)

Rush Limbaugh said President Obama deserved "congratulation" for the death of Osama bin Laden.

"We need to open the program today by congratulating President Obama," he said on his Monday show. "President Obama has done something extremely effective, and when he does, this needs to be pointed out."

The effectiveness, he said, came from President Obama's decision to send a Special Forces team to kill bin Laden--something he said, citing news reports, that none of the president's military advisers had thought of doing.

"Our military wanted to go in there and just scorch the earth...but President Obama single-handedly understood what was at stake here. He alone understood the need to get DNA to prove the death...it was President Obama single-handedly and alone who came up with the strategy that brought about the effective assassination of Osama bin Laden," he said, adding, "thank God for President Obama."

He got bin Laden. Period stop. An utterly un-rebuttable statement of strength.

And I think we will see as more details come out, indeed as we have already seen, that a big part of this operation's success had to do with Obama himself. The national-security meetings he ran, the questions he asked, the decisions he made. I don't want bombs, he said; I don't want to kill children while we do this, and I don't want a leg there and a hand there. I want a body, and I want proof, before America and (more importantly) a possibly doubting world.

I find it illuminating to compare the responses by the different GOP hopefuls for 2012 which basically fall into two categories: those who congratulated Obama and those who did not.

It strikes me that this difference in how they responded is indicative of something deeper; that their ability or inability to praise Obama reflects important personal traits. For the members of the first group — Romney and Pawlenty — who immediately and easily congratulated Obama, their responses demonstrated presidential-like qualities. Giving credit where credit is due does not make them appear weaker; to the contrary, it makes them appear stronger and demonstrates a necessary self-confidence and maturity to be considered for the job of president.

In contrast, Bachmann, Huckabee and Palin showed the opposite traits in their responses and refusal to acknowledge Obama’s existence much less his role in the bin Laden operation. Their responses showed pettiness, a lack of personal confidence and a profound immaturity that chooses gamesmanship over governing — traits no one would hope for in a future president.

Yes, Sarah. You would have much more challenging decisions to make than how to wear your hair or how to get revenge on whoever dissed you last. And you WOULD have to blink when making a decision of this magnitude. You don't go with your gut, you consider all the worst-case scenarios.

So just forget about the White House and keep on grifting off your worshipers. Oh, and make sure they blame President Obama when they can't make ends meet.

This is THE BEST post ever!

I never once heard our President "whore out" 9/11. Bush was constantly framing his speeches with "The lessons of 9/11", then he totally blew off the hunt for Bin Laden, saying it didn't matter anymore. But he went after Valerie Plame, WMD that were never found, started an unjust war, condoned torture, concocted stories about Tillman and others to fit his bloodlust for Saddam Hussein, etc.
Bush and Cheyney owe President Obama a huge debt of gratitude for not bringing them up on war crimes.

And now the republicans are spinning this great act of courage President Obama demonstrated in surgically removing Bin Laden, without collateral damage and loss of civillian life. They're twisting the truth and fear mongering while this President holds steady.

They ignored the bush years and blamed Obama because he's the president and everything crashed under his watch.

This is President Obama's defining moment. He's led with honor and deserves respect, because he earned it.
