Republicans trust Sarah Palin, more than ANY other GOP Presidential candidate, when it comes to National Security. I'm sorry, what did I just type?

According to a recent Gallup poll, Republicans have decided that when it comes to national defense and foreign policy, Sarah Palin makes them feel safe and distrusts foreigners even more than they do.

Now at first blush this may seem odd, silly, insane, outlandish, shocking, or completely fucked up, but really it makes a whole lot of sense.

You see when it comes to national security the majority of Republicans imagine it as a reality based video game through which they get to pretend they are bad asses while imagining our nation's military as their own personal "combat surrogates." And every time a soldier kills one of those brown people in Afghanistan, or Iraq, they get to feel like an overweight pasty white version of Rambo. When in fact at the first sign of danger they would undoubtedly push their own children towards the incoming gunfire while hiding behind their overstuffed La-Z-Boys for protection.

Sarah Palin, who is constantly utilizing her children as human shields, is a natural fit for their brand of national security because she actually has a son who went over to Afghanistan and who, even though he apparently NEVER saw any combat, gets referred to as a "combat veteran" by the media because of his mother, who stretches the truth like the Spanx beneath one of Bristol Palin's DWTS outfits. (Yeah, I went there!)

How could the Republicans not be impressed with THOSE "national security" credentials? (By the way Track if you are reading this congratulations on your engagement, and upcoming wedding. I am sure that you and Britta will be very happy together. Yes I know about it, but don't worry I am not going to tell anybody. Oops!)

Now on to foreign policy.  I think the reasons the Republicans had for putting their faith in Sarah Palin can be summed up in one video.

See? Sarah already has a good relationship with President Sarkozy of France (They bonded over hunting and porn), she clearly has a natural rapport with people who have thick accents (Which virtually ALL foreigners have) and she can take a joke (especially if she does not know the joke is on her).

Expecting your Republican nominee to have actual experience traveling overseas, or to have interacted with foreign dignitaries, or to know you cannot visit Bethlehem without entering Palestinian territory, is to have a pre-9-11 mindset, don'tcha know?

The Republican party, choosing incompetent leadership since 1969.

Republicans seem to have a love affair with the caricature of a tough-talking, swaggering, Rambo-type cowboy or cowgirl who shoots from the hip and asks questions later if at all. That cowboy/cowgirl type also has the attitude that the good old USA never has to apologize or admit mistakes made. There is also more than a touch of white supremacy thinking behind it all. The problem is that we are living in a world of constant change, in which China is undeniably a power to reckon with. So, another problem with this mindset is that it's a matter of people still living in the past. These same folks also seem to have forgotten that GW Bush's cowboy "diplomacy" created problems for this country and did a lot to undermine our image worldwide. President Obama's thoughtful, nuanced approach is what is needed, and that's why I am glad he's president. After all Sarah Palin's legendary gaffes and lies, as well as her quitting the most important job she was ever elected to, anyone who thinks she is trustworthy when it comes to national security is seriously not playing with a full deck. These folks who voted most favorably for her in this category are out of their freaking minds. There is nothing I can say for them that would be even remotely charitable.

Every time there is a story like this about how qualified, smart or caring this fool is, I imagine what $P's reaction is--most likely it's "We really got them fooled, Tawd." Surely it's the reaction she had when there were reports of her "compassionate" visit to the tornado victims, her pilgrimage to "help" the people suffering in Haiti, her "inspirational" (high-fee) speeches special needs/pro-life organizations, her few trips overseas for high-fee speeches and photo ops that, in the minds of some validate and prove, her "qualifications and experience," and now this bullsh*t.
I have finally reached my limit with this plague on society. She needs to be exposed to the masses for her immortality, and for the idiot and criminal she is.

Yep, who wouldn't put their trust in the forty-six year old half- term quitter governor's national security cred?

The idiot thinks she's the great white hunter when her dad carries her fake hunting rifle, she had to leave a school because she was scared and repulsed by the Asians students, had no idea what or where Africa is and just got a passport five years ago AND wants to parade photos of a dead terrorist to make SURE he is seen as a martyr and more attacks happen.

Yeah, Sarah is the brain trust we all need on national security. She'd be like the repulsive Condi Rice--only not smart, not a team player, wouldn't actually be able to pronounce the names of countries and would have no idea where they were, and if brown people were there she'd just blow everything up and smirk that she was using common sense conservative values.

I swear its hard to fathom how the GOP has become a band of cousin lovin' inbreds----but they just keep on proving everyone who thinks so, right. I wouldn't let Sarah Palin deal with kindergardeners fighting over cookies. She'd fuck it up and the kids would have emotional scars for the rest of their lives.

Why am I NOT surprised? Well, considering they think Reagan was the best president EVAH, even with Alzheimers, and that W "kept us safe" what do you expect? The fact that W could have "kept us even safer" had he done his job and read the warnings about Al Quaida, that little gem escapes their tiny minds. WHERE THE HELL IS THE ICEBERG?

All they are concerned about are women's vaginas, sex lives of everyone, cutting education, getting rid of medicare & social security, tax cuts for the wealthy, bombing all countries and cramming religion down others throats.

As for Sarah, she ain't got no foreign policy credentials except when she saw Russia from her house.

Loved your post... though not at all surprised that it take so very little (o.k. nothing at all) to impress these GOP respondents. Sarah is all lies, misquotes, distortion and fear mongering... nothing more. The fact that (some) find her a hottie (!) is really all that keeps her in the news. Take away the Naughty Monkeys, short skirts, boots, etc. and you've got absolutely nothing.

The prank call by the Canadian DJ's was perfectly indicative of the dangers of appointing an unvetted, unqualified and overly ambitious NPD.

Remember people, she wasn't a Vice Presidential "candidate," she was a RUNNING MATE. Standing on the shoulders of a Primary effort, as usual, Sarah takes others achievements to make herself look accomplished - but it only took eight weeks to scare the crap out of Americans at what a risk she was.

In nearly three years, she hasn't done a thing to improve on what she lacked, only proving again and again she is not only just NOT ready for prime time, but never deserved consideration in the first place.

You can punk Sarah Palin, the one who doesn't get satire or humor, and she wouldn't understand why that is such an alarming accomplishment.

She'd only throw her weaponized children/combat vets at you if you slighted her. She'd have not compunction in starting a war over a perceived disrespect.

Not only does Sarah have creeps like John Nolte, Michael Savage and Andrew Breitbart defending her, but justifying her maverick act of taking an unvetted call (that she is ill prepared and unqualified to handle) that is portentous of her pressing that red button in a three a.m. prank phone call.

Take heart! A plurality of Repubs may trust Sarah on something about which she knows nothing, but a majority of registered voters would never vote for her.

    http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/05/05/973227/-2012:-Q-poll-confirms-Trump-Palin-train-wreck,-weakness-of-GOP-field-at-large

58% of the registered voters surveyed WOULD NEVER vote for her. That's right- her nomination as the GOP candidate would result in a landslide victory for a 2nd Obama term even before she steps out of her turret and starts screeching on the campaign trail (and as we've seen in every poll conducted over the last 2 years the more people get to know Sarah, the less they like her so more news & attention will only drive this # up).

It's gratifying to see that most people recognize that she's the same freak-show carnival barker as Trump. And while it would be amusing to see her humiliated and see President Obama beat her in a landslide, the country deserves to see a better debate and exchange of ideas.

So when I checked out the photos, the one that accompanied the March 12, 2008 post says it was taken on 7-19-2009. She had already quit as governor by that date. Maybe I'm misinterpreting the info, but that's the date it states.

Then the one that accompanies the post from March 15, 2009 says the date is 3-15-2009, but it seems she is wearing the same clothes as she was wearing in the other photo Gryphen had posted with her and a student.

Something is very fishy about all of this. What's going on? I don't want to make nothing out of something, but it all seems so suspicious.

I get regular calls from Republican and Tea Party organizations. I don't know how I got on their list, and no matter how much I insult them in the telephone call, they just keep handing my name out to others.

They usually start with an innocent poll, which candidate do you trust the most on the economy, defense, national security, or pick a subject. I always used to respond "Sarah Palin!" until I realized that I was inflating her poll numbers and giving her more credibility than she deserved.

Last night, when they read the list of candidates, I just kept repeating that I loved them all and I couldn't decide. The caller wanted wanted to pick one for me. "No!" I said. Vote for all of them. The longer I keep them on the phone, the less money they are raising from someone else. And, I'm sorry to have voted so often for Sarah in the past.

Did anyone bother to read the transcript of that dreadful speech that Sarah gave in Colorado last week? She wants to remake the U.S.Military with her own Palin Doctrine. (GWB had one, and Sarah wants one too).

Her foreign policy credentials have really expanded this year, with photo ops in India, Israel and Haiti. I especially liked the part where Sarah and company drove up to the check point before entering the Palestinian controlled Bethlehem. She hadn't made the proper arrangements to visit the birthplace of Christ, so they never got to see the spot in the church that marks the Nativity. Sarah wants to bomb bomb bomb Iran, and any other place in the Middle East.

I didn't check the standard error of measure, but I'd say all three are running neck and neck for the bottom. Romney needs to start talking if he is going to run; he has the best credentials. Your point about the Rambo style of foreign policy is well taken. Look at the difference between Mr. Bush and Mr. Obama.

What in Sarah's biography shows that she has acquired knowledge of the world outside of her own? When she read prepared remarks in India in a hotel conference room? When she had cameras follow her at an aid center in Haiti? When someone drove her around in a truck for a couple of hours in Israel? If that's it, then your average tourist is, by Republican standards, more than qualified to run the United States national security operations. Shit, you don't even need to physically set your foot in these countries. You can just look at it from afar - presto! You're an expert.

Russia never attacked Alaska or the United States of America on Palin's 1/2 term watch.

Note: I said "Alaska or the United States of America" because some of the Palins believes that Alaska should be on its own, separate from the USA. Sorta of like Pakistan, just receive billions of the lower 48 tax dollars and give nothing in return like Alaska does now.
