Palin was a no-show for supporters, celebrity-watchers and media waiting hours for her at the Civil War battlefield of Gettysburg on Monday, but her tour bus reportedly was spotted at a nearby hotel, making it likely she would appear in public Tuesday.
Palin, the Republican vice presidential candidate in 2008, is on a tour of historic sites on the East Coast -- fueling speculation she might be testing the waters for a run at the presidency in 2012.
But the former Alaska governor isn't advising the media of her itinerary, leaving supporters as well as reporters guessing where she will appear next.
Several hundred people gathered on a hot, sunny day for a glimpse of the woman who supporters are hoping will inject some life into a slow-moving race for the Republican nomination to take on President Barack Obama next year.
Some of those gathered at Gettysburg were puzzled by the goal of her tour, which seemed designed to attract public attention despite a lack of information.
"In a way it's cool. In a way it's, 'Whaa?'" said John Hower, a baker who drove for three hours from Berwick, Pennsylvania, with two friends to see Palin. "She's trying to avoid the media. But I'd like to see the bus. We're, like, where's this bus?"
"I'm disappointed. Yeah, I would have liked to have seen her," said Sharon Danielski, who left after a nine-hour vigil.
It is one thing to play the prick tease with the media, but these people are innocent victims who might actually be uninformed and low functioning enough to support her candidacy. (Yeah I tried to be nice, but seriously people buy a clue!)
However if she keeps this kind of thing up, she might start chipping away at her base of support, one disappointed paint eater at a time.
Of course if she HAD shown up, like she did earlier at Gettysburg, all they would get to see is one badly sunburned, poorly dressed grandmother, with a bored little girl in tow, and a mouthful of lies and word salad to dispense.
You know if she REALLY did not want to "disrupt people on their trips and on their vacations, and make it chaotic for these good folks" perhaps she might consider leaving the ostentatious bus in a parking lot someplace and visiting the historic landmarks like every other American tourist. Or can't SarahPAC justify paying for it that way?
She is an absolute disgrace and so is the media.I can only hope that this pathetic attempt to garner publicity and money backfires on her big time. Hopefully her fans and the media will get a clue and abandon her.

Sarah quit the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission after only one year. As governor, she was anti-business. She impeded Alaska's oil and gas exploration and production and closed the doors to investment and the free market. Sarah had a chance to show her grit but instead she bailed out on her oath to Alaskans. Then Sarah had time to soak up political issues, foreign policy, and business & economy 101 but she opted to court the media instead to fluff up her sham image.

Sarah will reliably disappoint those who put their faith in her. We trust her to do the wrong thing. Her deceptiveness is amazing. Oh yes, Sarah is a quitter you can count on.

None of the people who I suspect to be closet Palin addicts were even talking about her. And we're about 45 minutes from Gettysburg, so I wonder how many of those 100 supposed followers were actually compensated to wait in pizza-oven-like weather for the Queen? We've been to Gettysburg in the heat, and it's REALLY suffocating, so waiting around for Rill Amurika's RV must have been a delightful experience.
IMO, this media blitz is just going to continue as more and more Palin dirt bobs up to the surface, and the MSM is either paid or threatened to mask it all with the "positive" bullshit. Prediction- The Palins will announce, maybe today, that they are paying for the bus tour, not the PAC. The Palinistas will open their wallets even more because they will be so impressed that Sarah is funding her lavish vacation herself. Gryphen, please look more into the whereabouts and behavior of Willow "Potty Mouth" Palin. From what you reported previously, she sounds like a young girl who is in serious serious trouble. She needs to be AT HOME, supervised by a mother she can talk to and a father who occasionally might need to do more than talk. She does not need to be under the care of a grandmother who clearly cannot handle her. (I find myself feeling strangely sorry for Sally Heath.)

1. JD bus-destroying drug addict son who has now married his probably knocked up girl friend.
2. Daughter #1 who almost certainly had one baby at 17 and for sure a second at 18 (and just maybe a third at 20), who is now planning on "living with" a couple of guys in order to make a reality show, and who was allowed by her parents to mutilate her pretty face.
3. Daugher #2 who at 16 is so out of control she cannot even be in the local "alternative" high-school and cannot be trusted to travel with her parents. (During her mother's FIRST year as Gov. when Willow was still 12 and in seventh grade she was in trouble in Juneau. Did anyone listen then?)
4. Daughter #3 who at age 10 is so sullen and pouty she's an embarassment to her family.

Is Congresswoman Michele Bachmann trying to grab some of the spotlight back from her “friend” Sarah Palin? This morning on GMA, she told George Stephanopoulos that next month in Waterloo, Iowa she will be making an announcement. Stephanopoulos rather obviously concludes that you don’t go to Iowa to announce you’re not running for President, instead turning his focus to Bachmann’s thoughts on Palin. At the end of the segment, however, Bachmann may have let slip her true intentions.
ReplyDeleteStephanopoulos tried his hardest to get Bachmann to distinguish herself in some way from Palin. When he asked whether there is enough room in the presidential race for both women, Bachmann replied “oh sure” and suggested:
“I like Sarah Palin a lot. We’re friends. I don’t consider her a competitor, I consider her a friend.”
Although not considering Palin a “competitor” could be Bachmann’s conclusion that she doesn’t think Palin is really running, and thus is moving full steam ahead herself.

Every veteran I know was completely, utterly offended by Sarah Palin's little "look at me" injection into what should have been a day of respect for those who have served. I am hoping Trig is at home (where-ever home is) with a caregiver who cares about him and has some skills/ interest at providing for his needs. His mother apparently has neither. Being dragged around as a prop, and perhaps continually rejected by his "mother" is not good for any child. Just look at the others. So leave Trig where he is; he's got to be better off there.

Oh, well, she can always use other people's talent to get ahead - that's a family tradition.
No one wants to focus on these kids, but Sarah has made their lives fodder for the gossip mills. Sarah quit being a mother a long time ago, just like she quits everything.
Apparently, Palin says that the bus tour wasn't intended to be a publicity-seeking tour, but just a nice family travel trip.

Wow, she can still lay out the BS like nobody else. Two obvious lies stand out right away. First, that Alaska produces 20 percent of the country's domestic supply of energy. That was proven wrong by several fact-checking places in 2008 (the Dept of Energy estimate was 3.5 percent). Can't believe she's still saying that.

As much as I try to be compassionate toward people, I feel zero sympathy for folks who were foolish enough to stand out in the heat waiting for her, or for the Republican Party establishment which built her up and would like nothing better than to take her down in 2011. Since 2008, she has been in the public eye long enough for everyone to take the measure of her character and realize that she simply doesn't measure up. She is constantly showing her lack of class, dignity, or common sense by making events about her, and bilking gullible souls. If any of these fans want her to run, what will they do if she either doesn't run, or runs and gets a stinging defeat?
ReplyDeleteI've know the Palin family for 40 years. I actually lived next door to them for about half of that time. I can say that they are, beyond a doubt, the finest people that ever lived. Every Palin graduated from Harvard with degrees in socio-economics, geology, law, advanced mathematics, and medicine. They live humbly and focus on helping others while avoiding the limelight. They know God personally and once, while He was going through a rough patch, the Palins held a rummage sale on His behalf and gave Him all the proceeds. The Palins are currently taking a quiet family vacation in their RV to see real America firsthand. Regrettably, not all of the kids could go along because they were sucked into a black hole. Next year, the Palins are planning a backpacking trip to Jupiter.

It might be hard for “liberals" to accept, but Palin appeals to a large "underclass" out there that we tend to dismiss as part of the "goober vote".
