From the Guardian:
Twenty days after the scandal dubbed "Weinergate" erupted with the sending of a sexually suggestive photograph on Twitter, a rising star of the Democrats was forced to resign his congressional seat in the face of pressure from the highest levels of his party.
From having been ranked as a possible future Democratic leader and the frontrunner to become New York mayor in 2013, Anthony Weiner's fall from grace is spectacular and close to complete. He has spent his entire adult life in politics, having been elected in 1991 as the youngest councillor to serve in New York city then aged 27.
True to his character as an abrasive and at times antagonistic politician, Weiner, now 46, at first tried to lie his way out of the sex scandal he had provoked by sending lewd photographs of himself to several different women. When the rightwing blogger Andrew Breitbart revealed his actions on 28 May, Weiner initially claimed his Twitter account had been hacked into, later changing his story to say he wasn't sure whether the images of a semi-naked man were of him.
After further revelations emerged virtually every day of his sexually charged interactions, he went in front of the cameras on 6 June to admit that he had been involved through cyberspace with at least six different women. But even then he refused to stand down from his New York seat.
Weiner's resignation was made on the day that party leaders had been preparing to strip him of his powerful positions on congressional committees — a move which would have further humiliated and weakened him.
The official line taken by party leaders such as Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic chief in the House of Representatives who has called on him to resign, was that the scandal was distracting attention from important political debates such as the economy.
I just watched this on CNN.
It was pretty sad even though I have been one of those saying that he had to make this choice all along.
There was some asshole in the audience yelling out insulting questions, that I assume is one of Howard Stern's douchebags. That was uncalled for in my opinion, and I would have hoped that Weiner could at least have been given some respect on the day that he did what he needed to do for his party, for his family, and for his country.
I agree with you about him having to resign. I liked his politics but it was way too much of a distraction.
ReplyDeleteI also agree about the freak calling out inappropriate questions. Is it just me or are there more assholes out there than ever?
And another one bites the dust.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile Diaper David Vitter gets to keep his job. THAT is the difference between a democratic politician and a repub. Vitter got a standing ovation from his fellow repubs. when he returned to "work" the same place where he had placed calls for services from prostitutes.
ReplyDeleteYou know who I feel bad for? Besides the pregnant wife, of course...
ReplyDeleteJon Stewart. You can tell he is bitterly sad about his old friend's inexcusable behavior.
OT:
So Britta goes from being "guest page for a day" to full-time legislative staffer in the space of six weeks?
http://www.crivellawest.net/palinAll/pdf/5366.pdf
10.48 "Are there more assholes out there than ever?" YES, most of them are running for president on the repub. ticket.
ReplyDeleteCould the douchenozzle in the audience have been Breitbart? He commandeered Weiner's last press conference. It certainly seems like something he'd do.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to toss Breitbart's sorry ass into prison for some of his shenanigans. While there, he could explain his racist views to his cell mate DeWayne.
Weiner is a fool. How the hell did he think that this was going to play out? Did he honestly think that copious tight shots of his schlong whizzing around the interwebs was somehow going to be of benefit to his political career? What was his best case scenario of how this was going to end?
While Breitbart is an opportunistic bag of fetid, festering shit, Weiner can't blame his plight on Not-so-bright-bart. Weiner did this to himself. It is a fucking waste of a talented, pugnacious, in-your-face liberal that is all too rare in Washington. He was one of the few politicians that actually did and said things that I might have.
He coulda been a contender. He coulda been somebody.
What a waste.
This bothers me on so many levels.
ReplyDeleteFirst, he did nothing illegal. There are politicians serving in Congress who have committed much worse and even illegal acts and they are still serving.
I believe he was targeted for several reasons. He's a Democrat. He was a rising star. He was outspoken. In other words, he was a threat that needed to be eliminated.
I also believe that the Republicans have conditioned the Democrats to react in this knee jerk fashion to criticism. ACORN, NPR, Shirley Sherrod.
This is also an example of the media controlling the political process. Why did Weiner get this treatment and not airport bathroom boy or Schwarzenegger? Is it because our media is controlled by the right wing and they weren't going to let up until Weiner was gone?
Did he do a stupid thing? Yes. Was it embarrassing? Yes. Did it show poor judgment? Yes. But none of that is illegal.
Sorry, but I am not celebrating. To me this is a dark day for Democrats, who once again caved in and showed they have no backbone, no balls and no stamina.
In other news Obama caved on regulations for for profit and online universities.
Big surprise.
Now it's Sara's turn. Even the GOP can't walk this back from her if things keep breaking. I guess they have managed to ignore Vitter but if the MSM has ANY stones they need to follow up what's been happening lately with Trig and hopefully Shailey. Keep it coming. Now we need one of the dairy people to come crawling back from under the rock and we can have a fun few months. Wonder what Sara is going to do to hit back. None of this can be taken lying down for long. Fourth of July bombshell? Will a "poor me" about Trig be enough to shove Shailey aside? I can hardly wait for the bot response.
ReplyDeleteHe should not have had to resign, and his party should have not castigated him. The Republicans do not do this to their own: David Vitter was not asked to resign after engaging prostitutes for sex for money (illegal), and is still in congress; John Ensign was not asked to resign, after carrying on a sordid and lengthy affair with a staffer, and did quit until he was going to be disciplined and expelled.
ReplyDeleteRepublicans, who espouse "family values" try to impose those values on the rest of us, and then get caught in nasty real sex scandals, are allowed to stay, but when a Democrat, who makes no claims to moral superiority, is discovered participating in some inappropriate, but not illegal activities, and does not get caught having actual sex with someone other than his wife, he is vilified. This is pure hypocrisy, and par for the course with politics as we know it.
The Democrats need to support their own, and not wilt under Republican pressure, as happens far too often. This is just another sad example of the spinelessness of the Democrats.
Very sad. He was the most eloquent and passionate spokesperson for progressives. He broke no laws. However, his stupid acts were a major distraction and very helpful Paul Ryan and the Republicans.
ReplyDeleteI am opposed to life long politicians. They have no real life experience and a twisted concept of reality.
ReplyDeleteOkay, everybody sing along with me:
ReplyDelete"Bye, Bye, Weiner"
http://johngomes.smugmug.com/gallery/3449496
ReplyDeleteFound this URL in the emails. It's from Dec 07. I don't think there's anything to see but since we know Trig might have been born in Jan or Feb and since the teen girl here looks like it MIGHT be Bristol or Willow, I figured our resident photo sleuths should have a look. Mostly they are just interesting...those birds are HUGE.
Piper used to be such a little cutie pie... Now she's just another bratty Palin girl.
O/T but CNN news on line just posted article on Sarah's "Email from God". The bots are flooding the comments with teary swoons.
ReplyDeleteWhat a ridiculous bunch of horseshit. At least half of Congress has worse things on their record, from tax avoidance to adultery to accepting illegal gifts and they keep their seats. How about letting Wiener's constituents decide whether or not they want to keep him, and the rest of us butt out?
ReplyDeleteClearly the man has a weakness, but I can't help wondering whether it was maliciously exploited.
ReplyDeleteI don't get it at all. There have been a lot of scandals that weren't forced to this type of a conclusion. And Weiner's scandal seems to be of a lesser evil. It didn't reflect on the Democratic Party as a whole and would have had no impact on elections. The Republicans are the only winners here.
ReplyDeleteCheck out the Brad Blog. Weiner was the only congressman looking into Justice Thomas, and his wife's connection to Citizens United. Years of unreported income and much more. Weiner was targeted. Dated 6/08/11. A must read.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it that links illicit sex to politics? Has this always been the case and we are just hearing about it more often now with the internet? Or WAS there a kinder gentler time in this country?
ReplyDeleteCourtesy of Obama 'stepping' in it on Monday about Weiner -- Obama who I called a 'fucking jerkoff' when I heard the interview, and courtesy of Pelosi, Reid, Wasserman (piss pot poor choice to lead party) et al -- I and others have been working just our little community of registered Dems so far. The area is widening and is now jumping from town to town, city to city as we spread the word.
ReplyDeleteWe now have 318 names signed of people who have NO INTENTION OF SHOWING UP TO VOTE, especially FOR OBAMA.
Yes, you read that right. So far, in under 3 days, 318 votes of "Fuck You Obama"
It was a distraction to the Dems getting their message out - BULL FUCKING SHIT -- they were't getting a message out at all. They should have been thankful for the 'distraction'.
Give it thought people, other than Obama what fucking moron Dem do we have that actually steps up and talks other than the Sunday morning shows - NONE. That's been the same throughout Obama's term. None of them have a set a balls that you could try to grab -- their balls are non-existent. I've never seem such friggin' weak idiots in my friggin' life. They roll over on everything.
Blogs have been created and it's building steam and will be going full out. Obama if a fucking little weaking in that he could have brushed off the question but stepped in it. The others like Wasserman, Reid, Pelosi -- enjoy it babies and the word is spreading and we're going after you.
Personally, I'm tired of supporting fucking weaklings as truthfully - Obama has caved to fucking everything. Go ahead, list all the crap he's done but when it comes to the real things for the middle class and poor -- he's done fuck all. Banks still rolling it in. Insurance, etc. He's done dick for us. Now he's caving on the budget terms.
OBAMA IS FUCKING GOING DOWN and I've been a DEM for 50 fucking years. We won't be the only ones after him - the momentum is building - by Dems & Ind's.
At first I had a little sympathy for Weiner, but as more information came out and it was so obvious he was lying, and asking his friends to lie for him, I lost all respect.
ReplyDeleteToo bad. I hope someone with more wisdom and self-control fills his seat.
O/T: the latest issue of "Globe" (June 27, 2011) has a small picture of Granny on the cover: "Sarah Palin falls for Married Man!"
Page 6 and half of page 7: Samaritan Purse associates are not happy Franklin Graham is lending the private jet, and talking her up so much.
I was glad to see the phrase "inciting violence" appear three times and a mention of Gabby Giffords and the bulls-eye SP put on her, and the "RE-LOAD" motto.
The article says Franklin Graham has bought a house in Port Alsworth, Alaska and plans to ride his motorcycle up there during the summer.
Well here we go, folks. Frank Bailey, John Ziegler and now Franklin Graham.
She's going to smile and wink until it's time to plant a dagger in his back and grab the Graham Ministry for herself. Poor fool.
Hope Sarah will be the next political figure that bites the dust. Go Shailey Get the truth out there.
ReplyDeleteBatter up! Todd and Sarah...you are NEXT! Sex scandals sell!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.crivellawest.net/palinAll/pdf/12686.pdf
ReplyDeleteLast line from Ivy- "turns out it was a fitting conversation".
About her having babies?
In March 2008?
HMMMM.
OT for this post - Gryphen - can we help get Shailey in touch with Olbermann? He might have the guts to actually dig deeper and get the truth out there. I know she needs money - but not sure if she holds out for the highest bidder that will in the end work out for her - and more importantly may mean the truth never gets exposed. If the truth gets out and the public interest is there - then I'm sure the money can come later with a book deal, maybe a tv movie deal and talk shows.
ReplyDeleteI'm furious about this bullshit. If you look at our pending (and probably now unavoidable) ecological catastrophe, which is a bigger threat to life on the planet: Weiner's peepee, or Michelle Bachman calling the EPA the "Jobs Killing Agency"?
ReplyDeleteWeiner was an asshole, and mad to think he could have lied his way out of this....but come on...even non-insane conservatives have to see the dumb asses playing chicken with the debt ceiling is a much more serious problem....
Clarence Thomas is still sitting on the Supreme Court, and Newt Gingrich can campaign as a "family values" conservative, despite his role in impeaching Clinton--among other things--and no one laughs. Grover Norquist can insist that repeal ethanol price supports is a "tax increase," and no one beats him heavy sticks (I know that's not a sex scandal--but it still pisses me off).....
The wonders of life in the modern age. Gary Hart challenges the press to follow him around, because there's nothing to see...John Tower promises that if he's confirmed as Secretary of Defense, he'll never take another drink again....
All you can go is play more Grateful Dead...probably Not Fade Away.
What a waste of a promising career as a strong and vocal advocate for the poor and middle class.
ReplyDeleteAs much as it infuriates me to watch the Republicans denounce Weiner while supporting Vitter, whose actions were much more egregious, I still feel that Weiner had to do what was right for the party and the country and resign. Just because the slime on the right gets away with ignoring laws and morality, it doesn't make it right. We should be better than that and hold our representatives to a higher standard.
I hate this. He was a champion for progressives, but then he turned himself into a caricature.
ReplyDeleteSo when is Vitter going to resign?
ReplyDeleteThat was indeed Benjy Bronk from Stern blatting out the questions. Weiner should have pocketed it if he didn't want this heat, especially coming from NY. Honestly, last week's "wlll you help support Arnold's love child" was funny as hell.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait 'til The Polar Ponce and Her Highness face the same music.
>>OBAMA IS FUCKING GOING DOWN and I've been a DEM for 50 fucking years. We won't be the only ones after him - the momentum is building - by Dems & Ind's.
ReplyDeleteSo now that you've vented your frustrations, who pray tell do you have in mind to replace our president?
You surely do not sound like any 60year old+ person if this is the way you are behaving.
GET A GRIP. Go back and read he headlines from fall of 2008 and then tell me that Obama has done nothing. People forget so quickly.
What did you expect in 2+ years that Obama would be able to accomplish in the face of what he walked into.
Geesh, for all those 'years' you say you have, which is clearly suspect, you're behaving like an impatient 4 year old.
318 people that you've got riled up about not getting everything your way? C'mon.
Grow up, chill out and stop posting such immature mental masturbation for us to have to sift through. It's not very attractive.
Support whoever you like, but stop projecting your disappointments on Obama and reflect on what YOU did to make a difference in your concerns. Obama said he couldn't do it alone, what have YOU done to help?
Distraction my ass. I am so sick of this sorry excuse for eating their own and knee jerk reacting to Republican criticism.
ReplyDeleteYou bet Weiner was targeted. Because of he had the backbone and balls to stand up and expose corruption.
What Dem is going to step up and continue where Weiner left off? Who is going to keep hammering at Clarence Thomas to recuse himself over ACA?
Distraction? So we don't notice it's the Democrats caving in and compromising our future away? You'd think they'd be grateful the news cycle was taking the spotlight away from their sell outs to the Republicans.
Yeah, the entire world is laughing at us stupid Americans who are so uptight and juvenile about sex but don't seem to give a shit about corruption. We keep re-electing criminals and let them sit in our government and write our laws, but let one Peter Pan embarrass himself with some locker room crap and we've got our panties in a twist.
I am getting so sick of spineless Democrats.
Obama better grow a pair or he may not get re-elected, no matter what clown the g NO p puts on the ticket.
I was never of the opinion that he should resign. However, having said that, from this day forward, if there are ANY (wish I could make that bigger) Repug sex scandals, they should be forced to resign immediately.
ReplyDeleteAnthony let allot of people down.. because he childishly and unprofessionally goofed around on his computer and cell phone. he had more important things to tend to... sad for me to say because I liked the guy.. GROW UP ANTHONY!
ReplyDeleteIf the same rules apply to everyone else I would be fine with the resignation, but they only applied to him because of his politics. That is it for the Democrats as far as I am concerned. They have gone so far right they are behaving like Republicans. They did not harrass him until he resigned because this was a distraction, the distraction was created by themselves so they could use it as an excuse to get rid of Weiner. They played bloggers and MSM like a violin. The distraction excuse is BS. This is just like the two tier justice system. We have a seriously screwed up country and most of our citizens seem to be unconscious. Between that guy yelling during the presser and living in low income housing where I have to loose sleep for "construction" and they don't show after a series of previous false dates someone may have to tazer me today.
ReplyDeleteO/T the NATIONAL ENQUIRER online version has an unflattering story about Sarah Palin. They started off by calling her a "wanna be" and then nailed the 3 generations in Sarah's family that got knocked up out of wedlock.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that Sarah seems to be "fair game" now, they quoted Dunn's book and used the new pouting pic with the helmet.
It's okay with me that Nancy Pelosi requires a higher ethical standard for Dems than Repubs. I am sorry to lose Weiner, I know what he did was not illegal, and I know others have done worse things and have gotten away with them.
ReplyDeleteI bet this was a hard, sad decision for Pelosi. But it was the right one. Gotta start somewhere, considering the sorry place we are at right now. The present--where we are right now--is always a good place to start, rather than calling up the mistakes of the past as justification for compromising one's ethics, or a party's ethics.
The respondents were not only more interested in the economy but they also they also thought that the media gave the Weiner scandal too much coverage, as 63% of those surveyed thought that the story was over covered. While 39% said they followed reports about the economy very closely, only 15% followed the Weiner scandal very closely. A whopping 57% said that that didn’t follow the scandal at all.
ReplyDeleteMajorities of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents all agree that the Weiner story had been over covered. Sixty eight percent of Democrats, 57% of Republicans, and 66% of Independents all think that Weinergate has gotten too much coverage. Anthony Weiner’s political scandal has been less closely followed than the scandals involving Mark Foley and Elliot Spitzer (26% each), Larry Craig (17%), and Mark Sanford (16%).
If the American people care more about the economy than Anthony Weiner, then why do the media continue to feed a public endless coverage of scandal that a majority of people aren’t following? The answer is because scandal stories are cheap and easy to cover. Stories about the economy have been deemed too boring for the American people by those who run the corporate media.

ReplyDeleteGrow Up -- Fuck you.
P.S. -- I'm 67 by the way. I'm pissed off and
If you didn't get it above - I know what Obama has done so take your shit and ram it.
I'll remind you -- FUCK OFF. I don't 'grow up' for assholes like you.
I too can say, do and vent and campaign as I want.
I didn't think Weiner should have resigned in the beginning, when the scandal was limited to a few racy twitter pics. But, this was turning into a Tiger Woods 2.0 moment with fucking Gloria Allred and the porn star having press conferences. The girls were starting to crawl out from under every rock, and it was clear they were all out to get their TMZ payday. Everyday new revelations came out.
ReplyDeleteAt that point, you gotta cut your losses, and stop the bleeding. Weiner had no choice, he blatantly lied when confronted. If he told the truth upfront, he may have survived. Apparently Weiner was sort of a lone wolf in Congress...he had very few close friends and allies who would back him up.God knows it makes me ill that the
likes of Vitter, Ensign, and Sanford did much worse, but
whatevs, life goes on. Trust me, if Weiner was a dem in a swing district, this probably would have played out very differently.
Not much to say about Anthony - am sorry such a progressive voice was forced to resign. I hope he finds a position as an advocate for progressive legislation. Keep the fight going-from a different corner.
ReplyDeleteI am upset about those those who are bailing on Obama because they feel he has "let them down" or - hasn't stood up to the GOP. I remember him saying Yes WE Can in 2008. How many of those people wrote or called their representatives about certain legislation? Obama didn't say Yes "I" can... he said WE! And what have WE done besides bitch & moan about how HE isn't getting things done. These people are to represent US - and WE aren't telling them what WE want. They are only hearing from the Banshee screaming fundies and the fundie foundations - not WE the People.
Obama has kept us from the total economic collapse foisted upon us by Bush and his pals.
ReplyDeleteDoes Obama compromise? Yes! He has to, given the sorry batch of Repubs we the people elected into power in the last election.
Do I wish Obama did not have to compromise? Sure. But if he did that, we would have to stand still, or move backwards into disaster, which is what the Repubs want so they they have a better chance to unseat Obama.
Obama is a trustworthy, ethical, educated, skilled man of good will who is doing a hard job. Not perfectly, but who among us could do better given the difficulties. I support Obama fully, even the things I wish he had been able to do differently.
Too bad Weiner could not behave himself--so he could continue to help Obama.
Weiner may have been targeted, but he was delusional to think he wouldn't get caught. Especially after what happened to Christopher Lee. Anthony has a problem. He played right into the hands of his enemies. He should have known that he's get caught sooner or later. Sorry, I have no sympathy for him. I have a lot of anger that he's put his party into such jeopardy and then tried to lie his way out of it. How can we Democrats point fingers at the Repugs for their hypocrisy when one of our own falls victim to it in such spectacular style. Just when we had an edge with the election if a Dem in a solid Republican district in NYS. That blowed up real good. Thanks, you weiner, you.
ReplyDeletePolitics sure is crazy!
ReplyDeleteWhat surprized me about this situation: I always liked Weiner and his outspokeness. He was willing to take down repubs very forcefully when few of the other democrats said much of anything.
So I guess I assummed he was seen as a hero by his fellow congressmen. Yet according to the reports brought out on Rachel's show (and also Lawrence ODonnel's show) he wasn't well liked and was seen as a grandstander. Maybe it's part of the reason why the rest of the democrats were not willing to fight for him. I don't know if it's true or not but still it's something to think about especially as a counterpoint to Pallin. She has convinced her followers that she is a super duper nice person. Yet we all know based on several books and reports from Gryphon that she is nothing of the kind.
It also bothers me that the media gets to run him off when far worse behavior has been previously tolerated.
Ok
ReplyDeleteMedia, Repubs and sell out blue dogs in the house? What do you have to tell us about the fraud called Sarah Palin and Twad.
http://www.inquisitr.com/113996/mortgage-fraud-suspected-in-palin-home-purchase-in-arizona/
Why Dems to go after their own people, is the part I do not get. Did they see Repubs killing each other at the debate?
How come Democrats are not all over the Republican scandles? The idiot who runs the prostitution house in DC?
The one who was banging her married Staff. Is it Ensign? Was he asked to resign or not?
Can all Repubs who have sniffed pants resign in both Senate and congress now?
Also I would like to see the spine of both Dems and Repubs investigate the most influential person Repubs have as an attack dog one person who has gone after Democrats for two years.. Sarah Palin
Whats wrong with democrats killing their own? Repubs do not do this. Shame shame.
This pisses me off.
I'm disappointed that the Dems caved and he resigned -- but more disappointed that he would be so stupid. Maybe he was targeted, since he was the only one with the balls to go after Thomas -- but how could he then have been so reckless, knowing people were gunning for him? Knowing what was at stake for the party and the country, not to mention his bride? She will forever be saddled with his stupidity, endlessly compared to Hillary as the stand-by-your-man wife of a famous cheating politician when both women are so accomplished in their own right.
ReplyDeleteHe's done so much more damage than just ruin his own career by sitting around with his dick in his hand.
He did the right thing. I feel so sorry for his wife and family and people that tried to believe in him. I hope he really does get professional help and be cured eventually
ReplyDeleteI hope he goes to cable while he works on his rehabilitation. I love watching him kick Republican ass. He really knows how to argue and would make great TV.
ReplyDeleteIf our guy has to resign over sexting, woe be unto the next errant Republican. Dems will rip them to shreds. And if Breitbart or this Howard Stern guy ever become fodder? It will be a delight to see them fall.
ReplyDeleteObama didn't have to compromise.
ReplyDeleteHe needed to show some strength and teach some discipline.
He compromised away the supermajority. He compromised putting Lieberman (that extortionist) in his place.
He compromised on everything to get Republican votes he didn't get and knew he wouldn't get but gave away concession after concession anyway.
Extending the Bush tax cuts has put us in this hole. And did *that* compromise get us?
You just wait. Pretty soon public schools will be replaced with private for profit charters, social security will be owned by Wall St. and medicare will be a voucher system profiting Big Med and Big Pharma.
This was driven by the Media because the right wings owns the Media and the Media owns the politicians.
The whole thing disgusts me.
12.46PM,
ReplyDeleteTake you BS of 67 years old out of here blaming Obama on everything.
Wait until your corporate corrupted dingbangs gets back in the white house. Iam so sure you will have your fricken Medicare in good hands. If you want to complain about Obama, go on the right wing blogs, like C4P.
Anyway who knows , may be you are Chuck or Sara making the comment. Democrats do not usually state that there are democrats for so many years. Take your stupid rant somewhere else.
What's this I hear about John Boehner having an affair with a lobbyist, Lisabeth Lyons? Oh yea, that's right, IOKIYAR.
ReplyDeleteThinkin' with his little head instead of his big head. What a shame. I liked the guy. He was a real progressive. He had to know that Darryl Issa, or somebody, was going to be watching for any f*%k up. Not real bright.
ReplyDeletethe really sad thing is Weiner was targeted because he was investigating Clarence Thomas. In fact, the hackers released the photos WHILE Weiner was tweeting about the Thomas affair.
ReplyDeleteFor those who don't know - Thomas appears to have "knowingly and willfully" filed falsified Financial Disclosure Forms which withheld disclosure of nearly $800,000 his wife received from the rightwing Heritage Foundation for the better part of the last 20 years.
Also, Thomas was supported with $100K of TV ads during his 1991 confirmation hearings. 20 years later, he's deciding the case Citizens United v. FEC. hmmmmm...wonder who he decided for?
http://www.anthonyweiner.com/conflictedclarencethomas/still
He was targeted in a sex scandal that didn't involve sex.
What Weiner did is humiliating.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think that's pretty much it.
Unless that "worm's eye shot" of his supposed goods were sent to a teenager, it's not illegal, right?
Crap, people- WEINER NEVER EVEN TOUCHED A BOOB! (That we know of...)
People say he lied. Well, yeah.
He's a politician. They ALL lie. And we DO KNOW they lie!
We KNOW Michelle Bachmann is LYING about President Obama on, well, everything!
Sarah Palin doesn't even deserve to qualify, but "death panels"? The BIGGEST LIE of 2010 and people are asking her to run for POTUS?!
Tim Pawlenty said Romneycare ain't like Obamacare, and Romney said he did it better. Lies.
So, yeah, Weiner sent some shots that could have gotten him blackmailed. But, suppose he just did a "Letterman" and "copped to it" {heh, pun intended}, and then what?
I find Elliot Spitzer's case to be SOOO much more egregious! Yes, he did resign, but how did he get out of criminal charges?
I am absolutely Stunned that he has been placed on a TV show where we are supposed to care about his opinion regarding anything. Are you kidding?
Anyway, I'm just so bummed about Wiener. I feel Democrats are seriously lacking that FIERY personality that the Rethugs keep cloning on their religious plantations...
Obama is fantastic; we are so lucky to have him as our President. But his JOB is to incorporate the ENTIRE nation, while attempting to make the ENTIRE nation better.
We need solid Democrats (i.e. Progressives) to promote the causes that will seriously count toward moving America into a stronger, more stable future.
Education, climate regulation, a complete overhaul of the Taxation system so YOU don't pay more than, oh, Exxon Mobile...
Exxon Mobil made $19 billion in profits in 2009. Exxon not only paid NO federal income taxes, it actually received a $156 million rebate from the IRS, according to its SEC filings
(Google: Bernie Sanders Biggest Tax Cheats)
Yikes! The reason I even jumped to Spitzer in my answer was b/c of Shailey's blog and the implications re: gov't workers being blackmailed b/c of paying for sex.
ReplyDeleteThat, is a big deal.
Weiner, that we know of, didn't meet up with anyone.
It's basically just a really sad, perverted way of flirting, isn't it?
I don't know.

Tsk, tsk, you poor thing. All that ridiculous rage just spewing itself around and you come to a blog to vent? 67? Not likely. I am well your senior you little punk with the foul mouth, so you don't need to pull any age rank here, especially since you're behaving like someone in high school.
Your come back is 'fuck you' and 'fuck off' and 'Na-na-na'? That's all you've got? For being '67' you sure didn't expand your vocabulary much, did you?
My suspicion is that you are one of these people who are always angry and never satisfied with anything. You look to place blame and responsibility, rather than assuming a mature and reasonable approach, finding positive ways to facilitate the changes that you are ranting about. You aren't able to argue in a cogent, intelligent way, so you throw words bombs and get your panties all in a bunch when someone calls you on your crap.
Grow up to those '67' years, and you might just be worth the ground you occupy.
I feel so sorry for you. You've truly lost your way.
Anthony Weiner was born on Sept 4 1964, just 2 days before Todd. Like Weiner, Todd's scandal has surfaced and, if there's any justice in this world, it will blow up in his face. My hunch is there will be a series of explosions between now and early March 2012 and that Todd will be thrown under the bus along the way. If the prostitution ring had anything to do with Sarah's resignation, there may not be a final resolution, at least for Sarah, until summer 2014.
ReplyDeleteThe Democratic sexter resigns, the republican Craigslist perve resigns, the republican john (Vitter) has no shame. They wanted to kill Clinton for being a manwhore...
ReplyDeleteCNN should hire him and put him with Elliot Spitzer and call it "Spitzer - Weiner"
ReplyDeleteOK, now it is Palin's turn to be exposed.
ReplyDeleteJoin me in singing this song to the tune of "If You're Happy and You Know it Clap your Hands"
Ready?
Put a pillow in your panties, call it Tri-G!
Put a pillow in your panties call it Tri-G!
Palin's crazy and we know it, words and actions surely show it.
Put a pillow in your panties, call it Tri-G!
The democrats shoot their fallen horses. This was a mistake for the party to have done this.
ReplyDeleteWhat possesses these guys to throw away their careers like that? Thinking with their little head I guess. I feel bad for his wife, how humiliating.
ReplyDeleteGasman need s a blog. I'd read it :)
ReplyDeleteCuriouser.
ReplyDeleteIf the Todd things blows up, Sarah will use that as an excuse to divorce him. Republicans embrace their hypocrisy like Sarah embraces her victimhood. With Sarah it's a two-fer.
So she'll get a free pass to divorce him and the faithful will worship her for it.
So what needs to happen is Todd exposed, Palin announce the divorce, then Babygate hit the fan.
11:31, I'm with you. Weiner is a loss and his own Party did it. The Repubs are more effective because they support each other-even their weasels. I'm finally so sick of the spineless Dems that I don't care if it's Sarah or Michele that puts them out.
ReplyDeleteI wish the "media" behaved this way with Palin and the gang who are running for office.
ReplyDeleteStrip them of any shred of human dignity, kick them when they're down. It was theater of personal destruction, plain and simple.
He finally did the right thing, and they didn't miss a beat in destroying him publically. The asshats from Howard Stern asked some truly disgusting questions, and Breitfart is still taking the "high road" claiming vindication for what was done to the Republicans.
