If only Paul Revere were alive today.

(H/T to The Obama Diary.)

And the following was sent to my e-mail account.

Saracudda Rewrites History
by Anne Sweeney
Listen my children and you shall hear
Of political crises so severe
Our nation is threatened as never before
By the specter of Ignorance at our door
It isn’t al Qaeda that poses a threat
Not Korea or Iran nor China and Nyet,
There’s little from Russia that we have to fear
Our liberty’s foes are located here.
The danger is coming – a terrible blight
It’s the Princess of Darkness, the Queen of the Right
Sarah Palin is loose and it’s more than her views
Or her spreading her lies all over Faux News
We thought her stupidity couldn’t be more
The election debacle, the media whore
The PACS and the clothes, the untalented daughter
And Levi, the First Dude and wildlife to slaughter
There’s drilling and shilling her book and her state
Sarah Palin’s Alaska – Oh give me a break!
The endorsements of candidates ready to run
They were all to the right of Attila the Hun
She doesn’t let anything stand in her way
Mamma Grizzly will vanquish that (b)witch Tina Fey
And Katy, and Rachel and Sawyer who dare
To suggest she’s got nothing ‘neath that pile of hair
She’s immune to ridicule, truth or good sense
She’s got her supporters all equally dense
The Tea Party loves her, what else does she need
They will back her whatever her word or her deed
How far she has gone to me is a mystery
How can you explain this reversal of history?
So Revere warned the British, my goodness who knew?
We will rewrite the textbooks, the word will get through!
Paul Revere was a traitor, Tea Baggers will claim
They will join stupid Sarah in trashing his name
And if liberals in Boston should start to protest,
We have ways of dealing – Saracudda knows best
And what of the Minutemen swooping like eagles?
They were from Arizona and hunting illegals
And Samuel Adams, we must make it clear
He did go to Harvard, so don’t drink his beer
Bunker Hill was a victory, The Redcoats were routed
The truth of that statement can never be doubted
And the Boston Tea Party – oh here’s to our cause!
It was all about taxes, and Obama’s laws
Founding Fathers were Christians so put on your blinkers
And ignore all the guys who were really freethinkers
For thinking’s not part of Sarah’s new quest
Rousing rabble and lying is what she does best
And as the Know Nothings do flock to her flag
Abandon all hope, for this ignorant hag
Will be quick to throw us right under the bus
We have met the enemy – you betcha. She’s us.

Okay THAT is fairly close to brilliant.  Very nicely done.

Fantastic. I can picture it illustrated in the style of Dr. Seuss and entitled "The Grinch Who Could Steal the Election (If We Let Her)."

BTW, let's have a little fun and compare HuffPo's headline with one on AOL news (same story):

Huff: Fact Checking Sarah Palin's Twist on Paul Revere

AOL: Fact Check: Palin's Twist on Paul Revere Actually Right?

So Arianna has a nice, wide, low-info audience to play Sarah Shenanigans with on AOL. Should be interesting to check this headline game in the days ahead.

That is funny. I disagree that ignorance is the prevailing issue. It is a trait of personality disorder to state a thought and then make facts 'fit' inclusive of making things up. These are cognitive distortions. Sane people first get the facts. It is a pattern to claim anything is the opposite of factual reality. Facts are irrelevant to Palin, her family and devoted followers who also stoop that the end justifies the means. I read that at C4P during DWTS and we again read it by the Paul Revere twisted tales. It is brainwashing.

The rest of the world, international leaders will be intolerant of Pathalogical lies

That political cartoon actually appeared in syndication in a newspaper or magazine? Where? That's priceless.

And this is the woman y'all are tearing your hair about who will be president?

It's fine to make fun of her on blogs, but for the idea that she could actually BE elected to creep into the msm, like when Sullivan or somebody went on teevee to sullenly warn us that it could happen....is just feeding into her media storm. McGinniss is also maintaining with a straight face that she has a chance. I wonder how many rum and cokes he has to down before he can muster the nerve to type that.

What do you do if you have a cancer rapidly reproducing inside you like some kind of Louis Pasteur lab experiment? Gee...let's immediately shove a bunch of sugar down our throats to feed it. Let's tell everyone who will listen that this farce is a threat and Obama needs to learn this message urgently!

If anyone noticed, pigs flew today, as Aetna, one of the nations biggest insurers, dropped their premiums in Connecticut due to Obamacare. It's in my local paper, I'm sure it's in yours:

    http://www.sun-sentinel.com/health/la-he-healthcare-premiums-20110606,0,6932012.story

Since I have Aetna, I'm hoping my premiums lower in my state, or maybe I get a rebate in 2012. Yeah, this is a guy who is clearly incompetent and unpopular with the general electorate. He's outpolling Romney in Iowa right now, btw.

    Very nice.

I just read that someone said that she was the "Charlie Sheen" of American Politics. I think that is scary true.

Is anyone going to investigate this grifter? Isnt it time to look into her finances?

If a fortune reader can be arrested for grifting, even if she makes financial donations, why can't Palin? This bus trip was a pure $$$ cluster "you know what," at the expense of poor people.

She promises but doesnt deliver to these poor folks and they feel so attached to her that the lie is better than the truth.

Oh THIS will make our day!

Thatcher Aide Calls Palin "Nuts," Says Former Prime Minister Won't Meet With Her

Sarah Palin has announced she hopes to visit London this Summer - and while there she hopes to catch up with the Brit's very own iron lady Margaret Thatcher, reports The Times of London (sub. required).

“I love London and England,” she told the British paper on Sunday. “We hope to be able to visit soon. I’d like to meet with Margaret Thatcher.”

The Independent notes that it seems unlikely Thatcher would be able to make a public appearance - she failed recently to attend her own 85th birthday party held by British PM David Cameron and aides tell them she rarely attends meetings of this kind anymore.

However, The Guardian's Nicholas Watt got an even firmer rejection from an aide:

"Lady Thatcher will not be seeing Sarah Palin. That would be belittling for Margaret. Sarah Palin is nuts."

Interesting that Revere's ride was on April 18 & on Lawrence O'Donnell's show the caption on the screen for the SP/PR story was "Sarah Palin's Wild Ride." There is synchronicity in the universe; hopefully, SP's lies about two very different "Wild Rides" will eventually be her undoing.

COMMENTARY | As a Republican, it pains my heart to watch the response to Sarah Palin's latest gaffe. Like so many times before, Palin has put herself on the hot plate and shown that she does not know when to be quiet.

From the beginning, Republicans have squirmed through every public appearance she makes. From the 2008 debates to this current joke of a bus tour, Palin has shown she lacks the basic skills to handle pressure.

This is not a good sign in a potential candidate for the Republican nomination for president.

Why then, does Palin continue to get support from Republicans?

The latest situation with Palin messing up the history of Paul Revere is a perfect example. It is clear to anyone that saw the video that Palin had no clue what she was talking about.

It was a moment of verbal vomit that made her seem like she had never attended grade school. The entire episode could have been prevented any number of ways. Palin could have simply ignored the question and kept walking. Palin could have changed the subject.

More importantly, Palin could have actually took a moment to read about Revere before visiting so that she would be prepared for the gaggle of reporters that were sure to follow her. That would have been novel for her.

What makes the entire situation so bad, however, is the aftermath. Like so many Palin "situations" in the past, Palin is now coming out and saying she was right. She is trying to use semantics to say that the British were warned because Revere confessed to them.

Republicans are actually following suit and trying to latch onto that argument for her. That makes the party look completely ignorant right beside her.

Revere did not warn the British. Revere warned the colonists and confessed to the British. Revere did not ring bells or shoot warning shots, as this would have drawn attention and squashed the revolt before it even began.

It is clear that Palin simply tried to fake her way through this and messed up like she always does when she attempts such folly.

After a couple of years of defending and trying to make sense of Sarah Palin, it is time for Republicans to say enough. Sarah Palin had a chance to come out and say she messed up. Sarah was too arrogant to do so.

Perhaps it is time that we Republicans simply admit we messed up in backing Palin and move forward. Liberals are not afraid of Sarah Palin. That is wishful thinking to say the least.

    They pray for her nomination.

Sarah Palin’s ‘Rolling Menace’ Bus Tour Makes Everyone Hate Her More

More news about snowbilly grifter Sarah Palin’s rented bus stunt wreaking havoc with both the nation’s road safety and the GOP chances in 2012? Yes! Here is the first part, courtesy of the important webzine The Politico, which employs adults to drive dangerously behind Palin’s caravan: “As they left the clambake she attended Thursday in New Hampshire, Palin’s two-SUV caravan traveled at 52 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone as it peeled away from the hosts’ neighborhood. Both cars blew through a stop sign about a mile later. They did 70 mph in a 55 mph zone on I-95.” Clambake, eh? We thought that was some kind of sitting around a campfire at the beach sort of thing, like in LL Bean. No, because with Palin everything is a monster truck rally. And she is the monster.

Sarah Palin and her supporters are doing many idiotic things today, so here we are posting about her again. Upon hearing that their illiterate leader revised American history to tailor Paul Revere’s ride to reflect her NRA-themed wet dream about scaring off British soldiers by hollering and waving guns, Mama Grizzly’s supporters’ first reaction was to immediately try to change the historical record to match this account. So let’s see, where is all actual history stored? Wikipedia! Her supporters flocked to Wikipedia and furiously edited factual inaccuracies into the Paul Revere page, because Palin is never wrong, like the Pope.

So how does Palin's version compare with, say, Paul Revere's? Not very well.

Revere, in the most complete account he gave of his famous ride, a letter written about 1798, stated that he rode to warn fellow rebels Samuel Adams and John Hancock that the British were coming to arrest them. This transcription, Revere's spelling mistakes and all, is posted on the website of the Massachusetts Historical Society:

On Tuesday evening, the 18th, it was observed, that a number of Soldiers were marching towards the bottom of the Common. About 10 o'Clock, Dr. Warren Sent in great haste for me, and beged that I would imediately Set off for Lexington, where Messrs. Hancock & Adams were, and acquaint them of the Movement, and that it was thought they were the objets.
Revere didn't mention firing any shots or ringing any bells, and neither does the account given by the Paul Revere House in its brief history, "The Real Story of Paul Revere's Ride." "On the way to Lexington," states the brief history, "Revere 'alarmed' the country-side, stopping at each house, and arrived in Lexington about midnight. As he approached the house where Adams and Hancock were staying, a sentry asked that he not make so much noise. 'Noise!' cried Revere, 'You'll have noise enough before long. The regulars are coming out!'

It's true that shots were fired and bells were rung, but not by Revere.

Sarah Palin Gets Bad News From Poll In Wake Of Paul Revere Remarks

A new Washington Post-ABC News poll released on Tuesday finds that nearly two-thirds of Americans "definitely would not" vote for Sarah Palin for president of the United States.

According to the survey, 42 percent of Republicans say they would not support a hypothetical Palin 2012 campaign. Overall, 64 percent indicate they would not back the former Alaska governor should she mount a campaign for the White House. 63 percent regard Palin as unqualified for the role.

The numbers come in the wake of questionable remarks made by Palin on the history of Paul Revere during a stop on her bus tour. The AP relays background on the comments:

Thank you Gryph for providing this forum so that truth can get out about the "False" politician from the North.

As someone who grow up in a household of teachers and ministers, one of the most important things instilled in me as a child, was to read, read and read. There were encyclopedia's around, bible's, and something that was the greatest thing my Aunt that raised me could have around, the full sets of both "Classics Illustrated" and "Classics Illustrated Junior". The first set had the world's greatest novels redone in comic book style, while the second series consisted of the world's greatest fairy tales in comic book style.

Reading "Classics Illustrated" as a child, prepared me for book reports in High School, and helped me to excel in English classes throughout the different phases of my education. The list is too long to mention, but did include, "Ivanhoe", "The Last of the Mohicans", The Time Machine", "Great Expectations", "Uncle Tom's Cabin", "The Man in the Iron Mask", "Oliver Twist", and "The Red Badge of Courage". There were over 250 novels in comic book form, and they were true to the actual long-form novels.

All this to say, we the people, cannot allow one individual to snuff out and make insignificant, the process of learning in our educational systems. By dumbing down and making unavailable literature that helps to elevate the thinking process and imagination of a young mind, we are dooming the children coming up behind us to not use "Critical Thinking" to know the difference between truth and total bullshit.

We the people, must not allow this "ignorant ho" to influence a generation of young minds. She must be stopped by those of us with intelligence and intellect from continuing to spew her agenda based on outright lies and utter stupidity.

Please my fellow Americans, Wake Up!! Our youth need to know right now that we will fight back against this uneducated monstrosity, that we are the adults, not grownup children.

After all, why are you spending hundreds of thousands of dollars for your child to be educated at universities, only to have ONE WOMAN, repeat ONE WOMAN dictate to a country of over three hundred million that it's totally "OK" to be stupid.

"An Idle Mind, Is A Playground For The Devil"

    'Nuff said.

Sarah Palin Vindicated: Colbert Re-enactment Proves It!

Last night's Colbert Nation was the site of an historical re-enactment of the ride of Paul Revere. Host, Stephen Colbert even put himself in harm's way by saddling up to a real, live department store rocking horse to demonstrate how firing warning shots, and ringing bells whilst screaming "The British are coming, the British are coming" and warning the British themselves they're not taking our guns ... is not only plausible! But it even shows how Paul Revere put his life in danger with this epic feat.

You've probably read about how she later defended this mistake, insisting that she was not wrong about American History. Paul Revere was shouting his message to the British, who were the oppressors of the Americans, to warn them off, according to her.

When I saw the video of her butchering the facts about what happened in Boston, Cambridge, Lexington and Concord and other communities in April of 1775, and I saw her empty eyes, windows to a vacuous skull, and heard her empty pallid words and non-meaningful utterances modulated on her fake good-ol'-girl accent, I became rather enraged.

“Paul Revere’s Ride,” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and Sarah Palin

Listen my children and you shall hear
Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere,
He who warned and, uh, the arms,
And bells were rung out as alarms
To tell the British we were there,
And had our guns, and to beware.

He said to his friend, “Abe Lincoln, listen
    I am riding out alone
    On a super-secret mission.
You can’t get me by telephone
But if you don’t hear from me by ten
Send me a text and only when
I’m at the hotel I’ll hit you back.
This way the rebels can’t attack
And long will fly the Union Jack.”

Then he said “Good-night!” and with guns blazing
Rode off for London. He was amazing.
Just as the moon rose over the bay,
He said, “You’ll never take away
These guns I’m shooting; you just try.”
He fired again into the sky.
It seemed he meant to shoot the moon.
That stirring night in early June.

    Meanwhile, Lincoln, worried stiff
    For his dauntless comrade Paul,
Took a cab to City Hall
    And asked Grand Mayor Washington
To rig up his racing skiff.
They went by water, through a squall,
Each of them, too, had a gun.

Then Lincoln rang a second bell
There in the skiff, upon the waves.
It stopped the war and freed the slaves
And they all went to the hotel,
Which doubled as a rebel base
And Paul was glad to see Abe’s face
Broad and smiling, like the nation
(This was months before the assassination.)
Then Johnny Tremain, and Mark McGwire,
And lots more men that we admire
    Joined up with the delegation.

You know the rest. In the books you have read
How we used our guns to make Nazis dead.
How the rebels were the braver men
And still are today like they were back then.
How we beat the British at their worst
That’s why the Second Amendment’s first.

    So through the night rode Paul Revere;
And so through the night his bells did ring
And so through the years we’ve come to sing
Of the way he saved us from our fear.
While the past is sometimes today scorned,
As a story we do not need to hear,
He was brave for us, he was he who warned.
He was our first President, Paul Revere.
