Okay I certainly hope that NOBODY is taking parenting cues from this woman. Nothing about that demonstrated any sense of wrongdoing on either Piper of her mother's part, and it was clearly just an attempt to shut us up about it. (Hell they did not even bother to find the right journalist to "apologize" to!)
Look I am not going to berate Piper for what happened, she is clearly having one of the worst family vacations EVER! But her mother is demonstrating a completely selfish attitude and essentially punishing her family for the fact that they were unfortunate enough to be born into her family.
I guess the rest of the kids, and Todd, are too fed up with Klondike Kardashian to allow her to use them as props anymore. Poor Piper is the only one left without the good sense to pretend to have a stomach ache or to simply refuse to be seen in public with her crazy ass mother.

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, I don't think what Piper did was so much her fault given the circumstances, and if she were to be asked to apologize it should have been one-on-one to the man in question and in private - that would have been sincere.
Palin instead shames her publicly, and then turns the gesture into something meaningless, thrusting the flowers to random "photog?" people "someone, anyone!" as if it somehow absolves her of the offense.
How vile. First, not to teach your child manners in the first place. Sarah should have been observing her child's behavior and corrected her gently at the time. Second, to force your child into a situation where she is being crowded and overwhelmed, and so she over-reacts and shoves back. Sarah didn't protect Piper from the crush, she ignored her. Third, instead of helping your child handle her own apology appropriately, in a learning environment, to force her into a meaningless public gesture, and along with that, announce to an even larger audience that your child behaved badly.
Now Piper's misbehavior lives on for another news day, to a larger audience, because of her mother's pointless gesture.
How disgusting. That poor child.
Sarah Palin must be really pissed at bloggers for forcing Sarah to admit what her child Piper did was not normal and it brings to attention Sarah's lack of parenting skills. If it was not for bloggers would Sarah even address this issue?

There's a reason Sasha and Malia Obama, Jenna and Barbara Bush, and Chelsea Clinton were (mostly) left alone by the press: they were mostly kept out of sight. Had Piper been brought out to smile for the camera and then led to the back to see sights with her father while her mother took the focus of the press, it would have been different.

My sister lives there (she's not Hasidic), and when I visit her it feels like I am almost in another country. They have their own buses, apartment buildings, and stores. Piper never spoke a word, wouldn't give the flower to anyone (which they probably pulled from the arrangement in the lobby), and they didn't even give the flower to the guy she pushed, just to randoms.

ReplyDeleteThe state is about to release more than 24,000 pages of Sarah Palin's emails from her time as governor. But officials are also going to withhold another 2,415 pages the state deems privileged, personal or otherwise exempt from Alaska's disclosure laws.
News organizations and individuals requested the Palin emails under Alaska's public records law more than two years ago when she was running for vice president.
The messages are finally now about to be released as the former governor contemplates a bid for the presidency. State officials expect to send the emails to a commercial printer to be copied this week, a process that is estimated to take about four days.
Copies of the emails will then be shipped in boxes from Juneau to the people and news agencies who requested them, said Linda Perez, Gov. Sean Parnell's administrative director.
It remains to be seen how many of the released emails are going to be at least partially blacked out. State lawyers reviewed printouts of each email and suggested which emails -- or which portions of emails -- to withhold. Gov. Sean Parnell's office made the final decisions.
Perez on Tuesday contacted the organizations and individuals who requested the records and let them know that some emails would be withheld or redacted. She said they have the option of filing an administrative appeal of the decision or seeking an injunction in Superior Court.
News organizations that requested the records include the Daily News, the Associated Press, MSNBC.com, The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post and CNN. Individuals include Geoffrey Dunn, author of the recently published book "The Lies of Sarah Palin," and Andree McLeod of Anchorage, who has had ethics complaints against Palin dismissed by the state.
McLeod has pointed out that Perez and Parnell's chief of staff, Mike Nizich, held the same positions during the Palin administration as they do under Parnell.
"I don't hold out much hope that all of these emails haven't been scrubbed of any incriminating information," she said Tuesday.

If/when she runs, I can pretty much guarantee that she will not be as friendly with the media because she will be asked questions that she does not want to answer.
The rest of the kids are either too bothersome, or couldn't be bothered. Can still control a 7yr old who probably hasn't had this much singular attention in a couple of years. If she thought it was going to be a "mommy & me" kind of thing she was sorely mistaken--Sarah Palin wouldn't even take her daughter Bristol out on her 18th birthday--offered up her daughter's "babysitting" services to Tina Fey instead!! NOBODY is 'special' in that family except SARAH. Callous is one of the milder words I'd use to describe Palin's behavior.

Gryphen - this is probably too late for your interview with Frank Bailey. However the ADN article on Palin's emails finally being released cries for the question to be asked. The state is sending the (redacted) emails to a printer. Each requested is going to be charged $800 for copying & then the shipping for 5 55 lb boxes of documents. "Because the state doesn't have sw that can electronically redact, blah, blah, blah.". Which is ridiculous: low tech solution is 1 hard copy, a bunch of Sharpies to black out what needs to be redacted. Then scan, turn into a PDF, copy to DVD, release. I'm sure this is deliberate incompetence; but could you ask Bailey about the state's IT? Thanks

I think her actions were simply what are modeled for her daily by her family. Dislike and distrust for the media and, when things aren't happening the way you like try to intimidate (i.e., Todd at the airport and with those trying to record Sarah's discussion with the teacher in Homer).
Disgusting, but sad, too. I hope that somehow Piper can manage to overcome her deprived childhood and make a decent life for herself. But the odds are against her.
Piper has previously suggested hair pulling as a way to deal with mommies enemies, and is obviously from a family where face smashing into a cake is funny, and I'm sure there is more physical violence and abuse we dont know about. she is acting out in the only way she knows how. abuse.

I'm beginning to think this bus tour was a very last minute thing. It's been said that it was Todd's idea. They all seemed to be having a great time at Rolling Thunder...Todd getting to hang out with macho bikers ;) Sarah getting some narcissistic supply. It seems to be all downhill from there.

How different this family is, when compared to the Obamas. Malia and Sasha aren't constantly being shoved in front of the media. No, they're protected from the media madness that always surrounds their parents, and are being allowed to be children and to learn the values of their parents.

When I was growing up in Alaska in the '60s and '70s, my father drove me and my siblings all around the State, playing country music in dives aka bars. We were 'cute' because we were all so young and talented.
ReplyDeletePlaying in the bars since the age of 13 (before Alaskan child labor law were enforced), watching people get shot, have sex, getting drunk and stoned every weekend - didn't make any difference to my dad - he wanted to be a star and us kids were his props. Only one sibling made music her living and today she is total mess, physically and mentally. I have pictures of her and her band playing for Sarah. My dad is living out his glory days playing for folks in nursing homes with his Kaoroke machine.
Piper is being presented in a different venue as I was - but I guarantee you the end result will be the same - lifetime HATE of her abusive, glory-seeking, and narcissistic parent.
As Piper ages, she WILL get back at her mother - whether it's drugs, alcohol, sex, extreme depression and anger, self-mutilation, thoughts of suicide, - it WILL happen. As with me, she will ask herself, 'Why me? Why this family'?
With the constant media attention for the past five years, plus being used as a obvious political prop, Piper doesn't have a chance at an independent and healthy life. We already have seen that in Bristol with Willow not far behind.
It could be worse, yes - say, growing up in foster care, abandoned, having no parents at all in your life, being poor and uneducated, a child of the streets, prostituting to survive - but either way, there's not going to be a happy ending to any of this, especially for the American people if Sarah is president. I can't imagine anything worse.

In the news footage I've seen, it is not the reporters shoving microphones in Palin's face. She practically knocks people over to get in front of the cameras.

That's all I got as far as change in her. Remember, she was a strong defender. .

The Palins have repeatedly demonstrated that they are bullies. Piper is a bully in training. Sad. Many schools now have training and education to deal with bullying behavior. Early intervention is helpful and important. Unfortunately, that's not happening in the case of Piper.
That "apology" would NOT fly in THIS mommy's book! Kid, you turn toward those reporters, look them in the eye, say,"I'm sorry for body checking" and hand them a flower YOURSELF. At that site posted earlier in this string, where Piper tells the reporters "thanks for ruining our vacation", there is a group picture of the "family" at Gettysburg. I don't know who most of them are..but I don't see either Willow or Bristol in the picture, so they must have already taken off? If all of those people are in the RV (most RV's don't have that many seats)..it would mighty crowded.
