The Daily Show wonders if perhaps we should NOT do away with the Bush tax cuts to the rich, but instead just take everything away from the poor to balance the country's budget?

Is Fox News not even pretending they are not working for the corporations in this country anymore?  Some of that footage was absolutely brutal.

  1. The power of propaganda as demonstrated by Fox is truly frightening. Poor and elderly watch this crap and believe it and then go out and vote against their own interests.

That made me cry. How can we be so inhumane to people in our own country. It is a wonder that Fox didn't come up with some graphic showing what RACE the poor are.

  5. It is said that the average FOX Noise viewer is 61 years old. That's my age demographic and I am ashamed that my fellow Baby Boomers have become so hard and prejudiced over the years. What happened to our Woodstock Generation of love and peace?

And then Palin takes on Gloria Steinhem, calling her a has-been. How dare she! Sarah would have achieved nothing if it were not for people like Gloria, another of my generation. Steinhem was a hero of mine who dared to go where few trod before her.

I'm still a liberal/progressive - even socialist after all these years. I understand that the right wing has done nothing to stop discrimination, in fact the Republicans opposed any anti-discrimination legislation put forward since Lincoln.

This "voting against your own interest" was going on well before there was even radio. It is engrained into some people that they wish for the "good old days" and they trust some snake oil salesman of a politician to give it to them. The older people are it seems the more they wish for some golden age that never existed. My parents did this when they were alive and no matter how many times I pointed out that their recollection was skewed, they'd still vote R against their economic and social best interests.
Sad to say, but I am glad they are both dead for if they were not I would have to disown them and never speak to them again. They'd have gone total teabagger due to their racist mind set.

I am so angry my hair is on fire. And I want to thank Jon Stewart for the awesome, if painful, statement.

This is why Americans need to be constantly critical of news sources, and why good papers and broadcast orgs need to characterize sources using the Encyclopedia of Organizations. The credibility of the Fox talkers is about as good as the credibility of Stewart's postulation.

Cato, Heritage Foundation and all the copycats spend more time braying in the face of the American public than they do "researching." Most of the time, they do as the NY Post does, write the headline (talking point) and then drag in bits of research to support it.

Then there is the problem with the deliverers. Ann Coulter who once suggested a shoot-a-boomer program as a way to resolve Social Security and Medicare problems should not be allowed any airtime. I think she was trying to be funny, but like Breibart she is a shill for hire.

I am no longer among the poor, but I have not forgotten. Like Sally from Michigan this made me cry.

What struck me the most about this segment was the way these monsters were literally shaking with hatred and rage when they talked about the poor. What part of too poor to eat, let alone pay income taxes, do they not understand? I did my mom's taxes her last few years and was frankly shocked by how much the government took out of the social security of a 90 year old woman. And these wingnuts want more?

I also dispute the figure that 99.6% of those classified as poor have refrigerators. Many of the poor are homeless.

The poor people not only should fight America's wars ... but they need to pay for them also.

The kids of the rich teabaggers are not getting killed in Middle Eastern countries.

I am stunned and sick after hearing it all together. I am 72 and we are living in the basement of our daughter's home to be able to pay our bills. She is a single mother of three and they are living in the 900 square feet house. She just got laid off. Her husband divorced her after she worked to put him through law school. He is not paying her any child support. We are what they are calling the bottom scum after we worked so hard

I especially loved the part where the Fox clowns implied that a refrigerator was luxury poor people don't deserve. I guess the poor need to just invest in some ice blocks to keep their meager food staples cold.

This was an interesting comment left at Joe's site.

"The week after the Tucson massacre and Palin claiming to be a victim of stalking, I saw Piper with a young teenager in the newborn clothing section of Fred Meyers in Wasilla. I was with my husband and our two children shopping for their clothes. My husband was very surprised to see Piper without any adult supervision or protection. I told him that it is was probably because Palin’s claim of being stalked was a fake or an exaggeration."

What was Piper doing in the newborn section? Would that have been around the time the DWTS bump was due to arrive?

They call our citizens "parasites", "raccoons" and "animals". There is no sadder commentary on our country than this. Some of the citizens they are describing are disabled veterans, elderly, homeless children, and mentally ill to name a few.

I often wonder when I hear naked, despicable vitriol like that if they truly believe what they're saying or if they're just doing it for ratings.

I'm not sure which is worse.

3 of us are living on my SS retirement of a bit over $12K/yr.

The refrigerator and dishwaster in our 2 BR apt belongs to the landlord. We are barely hanging on, 1 infant, his unemployed father (my grandson) whose UI ran out, as well as another job, and me, 70 yrs old.

If those MFs want to come dispossess us of what old furniture we do have, perhaps my son will loan us a tent, but they're taking his house of 14 yrs, too, after he's been stripped of work much of the last 2 yrs so he might need it in the near future. At least he has no kids.

Why do I have internet? Because I'd probably die on the vine if I didn't have an outlet and keep myself informed.

The majority of women my age, unless they are receiving their late husband's SS and retirement, are in dire shape because of disparity in our wages with our male counterparts; women of color even more so than white women.

The sad thing is there's obviously a demand for the bullshit Fox News is selling.

The dehumanization and degredation of the poor by these basssstads is what slays me. A lot of people didn't choose "poverty", and the refridgerators, toaster ovens, appliances, furniture they do have was obtained when they were still considered "middle class". These things are not luxuries for most people, especially the elderly and disabled.

These people worked hard all their lives, were kind, considerate, and giving of their neighbors and shared what they had with the less fortunate, and never complained.

Now we have the Rich, whining and complaining to the bank with a tax code full of loopholes to their advantage, while the average social security recipient hasn't goten a pittance of a cost of living increase (generous estimate of three percent) going on four years.
It's always the victim's fault, and the victims, in this case, are too proud to ask for help, and wouldn't get it if they did if the right wingnuts had their way.

This isn't your Father's America anymore, but it should be.

Jon Stewart has an amazing knack of mixing humor and politics while being informative and very clear with the facts.

I quoted something Stewart said on this piece on Facebook, and got an angry bunch of replies from people I had no idea had their minds taken over by the rightwing Puppetmasters.

In each case, the things written were in EXACT word for word bullshit speak, like the Fox News entertainers repeat over and over until these feebleminded fools believe it and can't wait to spew it out of their own mouths.

More than one of them said awful things about Jon Stewart.

I thought: how can anyone hate a COMEDIAN? Wait, now, do I MYSELF hate any comedians? (Think, think) Oh, wow, YES I DO!

    Rush Limbaugh!
