Rachel Maddow reveals the truth behind the New Apostolic Reformation, and the man who could be their hand picked candidate, Rick Perry.

I strongly urge you to watch this segment to truly get an understanding of exactly what we might be facing in the next election.

Here is the link to the article by the Texas Observer that Rachel references in this video.

One of the reasons that I, and many others, focused on revealing the hypocrisy, lies, and ignorance of Sarah Palin was because we knew she was being groomed by these people as a candidate in 2012.

Through our hard work, and her own embarrassing limitations, I believe she is no longer this group's "go to wingnut." Instead they are looking elsewhere, and it appears that Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry are battling it out to pick up the baton that Palin let slip through her fingers.

Now there are still secrets to reveal about Klondike Kardashian, and I am not finished with her yet (Especially since many of the secrets could also reveal scandalous behaviors by this Apostolic Reformation group, the GOP, and others), but it is just as important, no even MORE important, that we start to really shine the light on these other potential Dominionist candidates.

Because folks in my opinion these people are setting this country up for an ideological holy war between THEIR kind of Christian vs the "Kenyan born, closeted Muslim," that could be more devastating to the future of the United States than even the Civil War.

I read your blog because - even though the snark is a satisfying accompaniment to grifting Sarah's crazy swan dive - this stuff is important. Whatever else she is, Sarah was also handpicked and pushed forward. You absolutely nailed it with the statements you just posted:

"Through our hard work, and her own embarrassing limitations, I believe she is no longer this group's "go to wingnut." Instead they are looking elsewhere, and it appears that Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry are battling it out to pick up the baton that Palin let slip through her fingers."

I was curious about what kind of comments were being left on this segment on the HUff Post article. Unfortunately, Rachel is taking a bit of a bashing. I think Rachel does a great job of getting info out there, but there are many who fear her, I guess.

Talk about your "religious extremists." Seems that the U.S. and the Middle East are closer bedfellows than many of Perry's ilk would care to admit. What hypocrisy.

    Tea Party terminators

According to author, Democrats need to realize you can't use reason to fight insanity.

Towards the beginning of the original Terminator film, Kyle Reese, who has come back to the past to save Sarah Connor - whose spawn will save mankind - lets her know what she's facing in her new cybernetic stalker. "Listen, and understand. That terminator is out there. It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead."

Substitute "Tea Party" for "Terminator" and "U.S. Government" for "you," and with the exception of "fear" (which I'd argue is what drives them), this pretty much sums up the story of the 60-odd birdbrain Birchers who have rebranded themselves Tea Partiers and brought more crazy than Kanye West to the House of Representatives.

The recent war over the federal budget and debt ceiling were simply the latest in a long line of skirmishes where Democrats - the self-described practitioners of "good faith" and seekers of compromise - found themselves in a pitched policy battle with recalcitrant Republicans. Right wingers so high on radical, Randian, Tea-Party-brewed, Kool Aid, that anything short of dismantling the Federal Government and requiring universal tattooing of Milton Friedman where-the-sun-don't-shine was treason.

    Humble beginnings

After its humble beginnings as an astroturf, Koch-Brothers-funded revival aimed at mobilising ill-informed, reactionary, mostly older white Americans against health care reform and other psychologically-constructed monsters under the bed, the Tea Party has become an malignant force that now holds the Republican Congressional Caucus - and with it the country - hostage.

While the Stockholm Syndrome may not have quite set in yet among all Republicans, the tri-corner-hat crowd seems to behave much like the giant Brain Bug in the movie Starship Troopers, jamming a claw into the heads of their fellow GOPers and slowly sucking out cerebral tissue until only the brainless body remains.

Most problematic, most of the Tea Partiers, private citizens and elected officials alike, seem to possess just slightly less understanding of the Federal budget or tax code of than say, Mater from Cars. Yet, these are the people in the driver's seat as the country heads for what might be Act II of the Great Recession, unless progressives, centrists, and others edified with high school civics adopt a new strategy to counter them.

And counter them we must, for they and their ilk are nothing new, but representative of a recurring and quite dangerous political strain that has always been with us since the dawn of civilization.

Roger Ailes and the rise of Fox News

Even Rupert Murdoch is afraid of Roger Ailes, the paranoid boss of Fox News. But 'the Chairman' is using his power to make Americans more rightwing, more ignorant and ever more terrified.

...Fear, in fact, is precisely what Ailes is selling: his network has relentlessly hyped phantom menaces such as the planned "terror mosque" near Ground Zero, inspiring Florida pastor Terry Jones to torch the Qur'an. Privately, Murdoch is as impressed by Ailes's business savvy as he is dismissive of his extremist politics. "You know Roger is crazy," Murdoch recently told a colleague, shaking his head in disbelief. "He really believes that stuff."

To watch even a day of Fox News – the anger, the bombast, the virulent paranoid streak, the unending appeals to white resentment, the reporting that is held to the same standard of evidence as a political campaign attack ad – is to see a refraction of its founder, one of the most skilled and fearsome operatives in the history of the Republican party. As a political consultant, Ailes repackaged Richard Nixon for television in 1968, papered over Ronald Reagan's budding Alzheimer's in 1984, shamelessly stoked racial fears to elect George Bush in 1988, and waged a secret campaign on behalf of Big Tobacco to derail healthcare reform in 1993. "He was the premier guy in the business," says former Reagan campaign manager Ed Rollins. "He was our Michelangelo."

In the fable Ailes tells about his own life, he made a clean break with his dirty political past long before 1996, when he joined forces with Murdoch to launch Fox News. "I quit politics," he has claimed, "because I hated it." But an examination of his career reveals that Ailes has used Fox News to pioneer a new form of political campaign – one that enables the Republican party to bypass sceptical reporters and wage an around-the-clock, partisan assault on public opinion. The network, at its core, is a giant soundstage created to mimic the look and feel of a news operation, cleverly camouflaging political propaganda as independent journalism.

    VIDEO: Michele Bachmann's Auschwitz Warning

In a 2002 film highlighting her work as an education activist, Michele Bachmann endorsed the argument of her colleague, Michael Chapman, who claimed that state and federal education reforms were leading the United States toward its own Holocaust. Minnesota's new curriculum standards, Bachmann contended, were going to "undermine our freedom and undermine our national sovereignty" and turn children into "global citizens." The "brave new world" Chapman warned about, she said, wouldn't be far behind.

Before Bachmann served in the Minnesota state Senate, led the tea party caucus in the House of Representatives, or ran for president, she worked as an education activist with a conservative group called the Maple River Education Coalition (MREC). Together with Chapman, Bachmann criss-crossed Minnesota, speaking to church groups and warning them about the dire consequences of state and federal education reform.

In the middle of all of this, Bachmann and Chapman made a movie.

Guinea Pig Kids II is not, as its name might suggest, a B-list horror film. The impetus for the film was the Profile of Learning, a set of state curriculum standards adopted by Republican Gov. Arne Carlson's administration in 1998. To Bachmann and Chapman, the standards were nefarious and part of a a far-reaching globalist plot.

As Bachmann and Chapman explained, a little-known federal program called Goals 2000, initiated under the Clinton administration but consistent with a similar plan supported by President George H.W. Bush, was paving the way for a national curriculum. The new curriculum, the two speakers maintained, moved the state away from established truths like the supposedly Christian founding documents, and replaced them with secular documents, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, that allowed the state to craft its own set of values. Guinea Pig Kids was designed to explain "Minnesota's new centrally-planned education, workforce & economic system and how citizens are trying to reverse it." Over the course of the film's two hours, Bachmann and Chapman did just that.

Perry will announce and I fully expect him to win the republican nomination. He's got exactly what middle of the road and far right republicans want, he's a bible banger, anti-choice, anti-gay and pro gun. He'll talk the talk all day long and the republicans, at least the more extreme, will fall in behind him in lock-step. Almost saviour-like, republicans will think he has the best shot at getting the black man out of their "white" house. Fortunately moderates and democrats recognize him for what he is and give the president another four years.

We saw Jeremiah Wright's sermons on 24/7 repeat for months on all the news channels. If the media is unbiased, they will have Perry's apostles on 24/7 with their sermons regarding the Japanese Sun Goddess having sex with the emperor to cause their stock market to drop, the encouragement of capital punishment for gays, etc. Certainly the media thinks that the ranting of these prophets would be equally important since they seem much more fringe and lunatic worthy. If not, only white people have the right to scream their hysterical rants without scrutiny.

Gah You know, there are repubs who aren't controlled by their faith/religion. Those local leaders REALLY needto step out and run for higher office. Because this country cannot stand anymore spendy, immoral democrats and fanatic, maniacal gops

But because people are ridiculous and have a prejudice against ALL republicans, it's THAT Much harder. People will twist words all day long, they dream up twisted versions of truth. This has been done to dems and rep alike ie Palin is a good example (that doesnt mean the story was false. Haters are just very good at putting words in Sarahs mouth when what she said was pretty straight forward at root.

While Im not sure she has the answers and could make the decisions, I think shes grown as a leader, learned from mistakes, become more hardened and skeptical of people (I mean cmon, look at all her pathetic backstabbers who cashed on, only to be quickly shot down)

Are the American people stupid enough to let this happen? It appears they are now doesn't it. Did she tell you that her daddy is the father and we all know who the mother has to be. I pray your post was satire but in all truth, Sarah Palin is mentally ill and has only about a 7th grader level of understanding of how the economy and jobs and government work.

She screwed up royally ever job she had and someone else had to do the work behind the curtain.

Sarah is really messed up mentally but no one will try to get her some help, all you idiots keep pushing her and she is really sick. She has no understanding of the job of President/VP and she is too uneducated and batshit crazy to be put in a job like these.

Her face is a fucked up mess, with Bristol having several kids, no wedding. She has not mentioned Willow's baby and Track got his girlfriend pregnant and she just had a baby, maybe married 3 months. Sarah was not pregnant with Trig and pretended she was pregnant for about 6 weeks with padding and a fake baby bump.

The news of Sarah & Todd being divorced and all this mess, she is unfit for any public service job.

The Palin klan is really a family of lies and coverups. Get real, this is the kind of trash you tell your family to stay the hell away from.

I honestly do not believe she is capable of learning, growing or evolving because she is so self-absorbed.

There is no evidence that she has learned from any of her mistakes - perhaps because she keeps repeating them and making so many new ones.

Honestly, 9:22 - you need to step back and see her more objectively. If anything, Sarah Palin has become more shrill, more disconnected, and less inclined to learn about the issues at hand.

To say she has predicted the current state of economic chaos and incivility is foolish. She is part and parcel of why things have declined. She IS one of the root causes of the current polarization of this nation, and apparently proud of that.

One of the ugly secrets regarding the NAR is the way people become "apostles" on the backs of the minions who give time, money and, quite literally, their freedom to support the system while those in power, "the anointed", live lavishly. They have close ties to prosperity ministries such as Kenneth Copeland and Bennie Hinn. They don't mind fast tracking people to the top of the heap if it helps the cause i.e. Sarah Palin and Rick Perry. If Palin was recruited as a youth, no doubt she did her share of serving her "apostles" doing free babysitting, housekeeping, etc to win favor. They look for people who are charismatic who will attract others, preferably with money. They are very good at exploiting young people, getting them hooked on the movement by isolation and intimidation, therefore ensuring their loyalty as they get older. It is very much a cult. They are the epitome of wolves in sheep's clothing. My daughter was a member for over 5 years but thank God finally saw them for what they really are - evil.

His last "campaign" consisted of taking in money, refusing to debate Bill White, refusing to speak to newspaper editors, and making speeches filled with promises that he wouldn't run for President in 2012. Will he indeed hold up to evangelical scrutiny? ...especially with the smartly-dressed skeletons in his closet... not that there's anything wrong with that... Google it.

I agree. Palin is entertainment in a train-wreck kind of way, but becoming more and more irrelevant, and we need to start focusing on the real challenges. Even though Palin is trying her hardest to stay in the spotlight, after Perry declares he's running, she'll be in the dust. And there's no way he's going to draft her as a v.p. pick. After the last campaign, people know she can't be trusted to follow the script, and he won't risk being upstaged or destroyed by her rogue behavior. She's going to be pissed when she doesn't get the nod!

Good grief, his college transcripts detail the limitations of Perry's intellect. But, oh yeah ... I forgot, that doesn't matter to the low hanging, low intellect voter who is looking for someone just like him.

Another thing I am getting pretty tired of seeing is somebody explaining the federal budget in terms of their own household budget. Who are these people? The last time I looked, my budget was pretty darn simple, but to compare it to the federal budget? Sheesh. We are in big trouble here folks if this kind of lame brained "I can run this country" idiots like Palin, Bachmann and Perry are the favored of at least one-quarter of the population.

As far as "taking the country" back let's start with bringing back the more stringent requirements to graduate from an American high school: 4 years of math, 4 years of science and 4 years of English, history and a serious civics course that makes certain everyone knows the meaning of habeus corpus and Miranda. We progressives are obviously in need of this knowledge considering the ugly mood in the country.

Somehow, I know this solution isn't what is meant by the "take back our country" meme, but it is a rational beginning.

He is very unattractive to me anyhow. My GAYDAR definitely goes up. Maybe he and Marcus will get together, who knows? :) :)

Bristols reality show sounds like the most boring thing on earth. What kind of moron would want to sit and watch Bristol go to baby stores with Kyle Massey. And then go and volunteer at charities?

Americans really are stupid if this is what is considered entertainment. Pathetic.

OMG if I hear that Colbert video one more time, I shall scream! Why does it start every time I open this blog? How odd is that? MAKE IT STOP!!

The best part of the Texas Observer article (thanks for the link! The TO is a Texan's last lifeline to sanity) is the part about "normal" Pentecostals thinking these guys are scary too!

Point is, the NARs are not Christians. They're bat shit crazy cultist christian-revisers, and I believe, normal Christians won't stand for it. When Pentecostals think you're nuts, you're really out there.

    I hope.

Let me tell you - Rick Perry would regret picking Palin as his VP sidekick. She might accept it - even if it isn't the run for president which is what she really wants. I think she'd see the spot as providing her a 'step up' in the following election.

Palin creates nothing but havoc w/everything she is associated...check her record/past. She'd not listen to Perry and try to do her own thing. Would be fun to watch!

MSNBC has breaking news that Perry's going to run, according to a "spokesman." Palin's going to be so forgotten soon. (But that's the only good side of this news.)

12:14 pm. I agree. I love Stephen Colbert but to hear that noise every time I check into IM is going to send me around the bend; thank God it's not Sarah Palin's screechy voice that we're hearing!

I'm so angry over something I saw on the Jon Stewart show last night...a collage of people using the expression,"Obama's Downgrade."

Right...like no one noticed his begging pleas for weeks for the obstructionist Republicans to not do something as insane as to let the country go into default.

And how the usual suspects, Ayatollah Bachmann, Joe "family values" Walsh, and the rest, were seen screaming into the cameras that entire time that they refuse to vote to raise the debt ceiling.

So, how exactly was anyone convinced of the opposite, that it was something the PRESIDENT did, to cause the S&P to warn the world that the craziness displayed by the nutjob right wing, is what led to the decision that America is no longer the good credit risk it once was???

Is it one of those Nazi inspired "BIG LIE" deals, where if the Fox airheads keep saying it over and over again, the hypnotized populace will go against their own perceptions, and simply go along with such a truth crime?

    Be afraid, be very afraid.

Then get off your duff and spread the word about this very dangerous organization.

Thanks anon @ 9:03 I agree and believe there is much on the record to offend average Americans about Governor Perry.

I don't care from which direction they come....no extremists. We work collectively or the idea that is America does not work at all.

Margot's comment at 9:42 is very important. These two books lay out exactly what Rachael Maddow's commentary and Leah Burton have been speaking of for years.

This radical agenda is extremely dangerous. I don't belong to any organized religion, but I'm surprised that many "Christians" blindly follow these people without delving further into the facts. They're exploiting your religion for the wrong reason, educate yourselves and speak up, people, before it's too late.

This country was not founded on any religion's dogma, and that's what makes America so strong.

Thanks, Gryphen, for giving this it's own post.

One of the ugly secrets regarding the NAR is the way people become "apostles" on the backs of the minions who give time, money and, quite literally, their freedom to support the system while those in power, "the anointed", live lavishly.

First, I love your blogs, Gryph. Love, love.

Thanks for shining another light on the NAR and Dominionism, something the beltway completely ignores. Without Rachel and (some) bloggers, we-who-are-receptive-and-aware wouldn't even be informed. HOW to tell the country, the world???
